I have played Grim Tales before with great results but this one left me wanting. I think the developers fell asleep on this one. Only redeeming factor in the whole game is the graphics. They are well drawn (rendered?) and semi-colorful and the people actually look like people and not cartoons. Everything else is a bore and I found myself wishing something interesting would happen but it never does. This is one of those back and forth games that leads nowhere and I dislike immensely. There is no logic or progression at all. Keep jumping between 3 scenes doing seemingly unrelated things and when you finally make it to the town it just keeps going. If it wasn't for the graphics this would be a 1 star but they are what gives it the extra star. I don't recommend this game unless you need something to help you get to sleep at night.
This has to be one of the most boring games ever put out. Starts out dark and stays dark. Characters are not believable and story line just doesn't get it. This has everything I hate in a game-dark scenery, back and forth running with no progress, HO's and puzzles/mini games that add nothing and just overall boring. I like good, well written HO games but this one just doesn't do it for me. I don't recommend this at all.
Not a fan of the mosaics games that have been coming out lately but this one is not the same. First, colors are bright and lively and only add to the enjoyment, second, gameplay is interesting to say the least, and, third, it's just fun. I don't like using hints on these so you tend to make mistakes which adds to the suspense. I play in casual mode so that makes it a little easier but the mistakes still happen. I enjoy the little puzzles within the puzzle, adds a little variety and keeps you interested. Plus the blocks aren't just colors, sometimes they are dirt, or water, or flowers or any number of other things. This has to be the best mosaic I have ever played and, believe me, I've tried them all. If you are a mosaic lover this is a definite buy and if you aren't, you might consider this one as a nice little stress reliever after a long day. Definite yes recommendation on this one. When I get my next credit, this is going in my repertoire of games.
Usually I don't like busy games that flit back and forth all the time but, for some unknown reason, this one didn't get me down. Started a little slow but as soon as I got into it the pace picked up and you are off to save the worlds. Graphics are pretty good with the right balance between light and dark and the different shades are used in the right places at the right time. The characters actually look like people and the ghouls actually look 'ghoulish'. Love the HO's and the puzzles/mini games. Just the right degree of difficulty and actually add to the game experience. Can't comment on the sound because I usually tune it out when I am concentrating on game play. This is another game where you need to not concern yourself with the negative reviews and play the demo and decide for yourself. Like I said, starts slow but, once you get into it, I think you will like this one. I recommend this one with a big YES! Have fun.
This is a real yawner. Very boring and tiring to play. Graphics are ok but that's as far as it goes. I have seen, and played, worse but I can't think of any right now. Bugs added nothing to the game and should have been left out. I don't recommend this one at all even for the match 3 lovers. I wouldn't even waste my time on the demo.
Starts with nice graphics, predictable story line and intriguing HO's and puzzles. Started a little slow because you have to keep going back and forth before you actually progress but you finally get moving and encounter many odd and interesting people and scenes. The HO's are the kind I enjoy. There are pictures of items you must find to make some type of artifact or tool. And the puzzles and mini games were fun and challenging. Keeps your mind active. I'm not going to sit here and go through the whole story like some do, I'll just say play the demo and I think you will be pleasantly surprised despite the back and forth and slow start. I will try the SE version before deciding which to buy. Oh, and if you haven't guessed by now, I do recommend this game. Have fun and don't give up!
This game has one redeeming quality and that is the graphics. They are a little above average thus the 4 bars on that. Everything else falls short. I think the developer played a similar game or games and said "That works so I'll make mine the same". It is like 9 out of 10 HO games on the market now. I keep looking for that one game that gets 5 stars and 5 bars across the board. I know it's out there. Now, this game isn't really that bad it just needs some tweaking to make it great. The people are drawn well and their mouths actually move when talking and there is a story line but it just takes forever to progress. I played the demo twice from the beginning and still not a buy for me. Some of you might like it and I would only recommend this one because of the graphics. Play the demo and have fun.
This is another place where I wish there was a 1/2 star cause this is not quite a 5 star. Close but no cigar. This one started out differently than most. You go right into a girl being chased and then passing out. I thought, "Great, I can't register for this one." Then, surprise, it takes me to the register screen. Nice little twist. Graphics are nice and the people actually have believable voices and aren't comical. They were all enjoyable in their own part of the story and I especially liked the lead character. They seemed to put more emphasis on making her believable. Story was a little slow at times until you persist long enough to get through everything. Luckily, I read through some of the other reviews and that helped me progress. If you have done everything else and you get to the window in the hospital that seems to be keeping you from advancing, don't panic. Look in your inventory and move to another room just outside the 'window' room. Hint, hint! Music was great and added just the right amount of intrigue and the other sound effects were perfect. I really couldn't find much at all to fault this game once I got into it and I may buy. The HO's and puzzles were fun and offered just enough challenge to keep me interested but not frustrated. Only one that frustrated me and, because of time, caused me to skip was playing battleship with the man at his house. He's (computer) pretty good. All things said, I would recommend this one to the casual HO player and I think you will like it. Not really for the dark and sinister players even though there are a few dark moments.
Not a fan of match 3 but this one peeked my interest. Typical match 3 in that you have to match to win but you have to get a certain amount of select colors and in a specific time span. However, the game doesn't all of a sudden stop and say "Sorry, you missed the time" if you run out. I think it deducts some points but you keep playing. Another thing, which is now the thing in match 3, you don't have a certain number of moves to finish the level. I hate that aspect of the newer games. Graphics are great and very colorful and the dude that pops up with the instructions is not obnoxious and is very helpful. For match 3 lovers I highly recommend this one. Even if you are not a match 3 fan like me, at least try the demo. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
This turned out to be what seems to be the norm now, go there, get that to get something else to go back to open the first thing and over and over and over. Boring and non productive. Graphics aren't bad. The only reason visual/sound quality only got 2 stars is because of the sound. People voices sounded comical and insincere. Story isn't that great and hard to follow and took forever to progress anywhere. HO's were not well thought out and the puzzles and mini games were not fun. I don't recommend this one unless you like boring games.
