This is one of the most useless games I have ever played. For one thing, it's says "Earthbound" in the title but, so far I have been on a ship. Plus the scenes look nothing like the scenes on this description page. The graphics are not good and, of course, they are dark which I dislike greatly. I don't think game developers heed our calls for better games. Characters are way too cheery for the predicaments they get into and that is annoying. HO's are without rhyme or reason and are very confusing. Was doing one and the hint didn't even help. That is when I quit. I do not recommend this one at all.
Reviews are pretty well split on this one but this is a definite buy for me. I knew from the opening cut scene that I would like it and I haven't been disappointed.
Now I'm not going to write a lengthy review telling you everything about the game as I have seen in some reviews, just enough to maybe peek your interest.
The graphics are great and they have color which I like. I hate games where the only colors seem to be gray, black, bark blues and maybe silver. Those games are depressing and make me want to quit playing. This one has the right amount of color to make it a worthwhile game.
The HO's are interesting and not difficult to the point of frustration and add to the overall satisfaction of the game. The puzzles and mini games are fairly easy and, again, add to the enjoyment.
Story is typical 'monster attacks town and terrorizes people and only you can save it" scenario but not put forward in an amateurish manner. Very well thought out with everything you do leading to a satisfactory conclusion.
I highly recommend this game and I will be buying this. Won't even wait for game credits.
I have games from Blue Tea that are quite good and fun to play but this is not one of them.
The constant clicking drives me crazy and gets you nowhere at all. Also, the hint is no help. All it does is tell you there is nothing more to do here but doesn't suggest where to try next. The HO's are not up to par either and some of the items you have to find don't match the name at all. Haven't tried any puzzles or mini games yet if there are any in the game because I was so frustrated with the skipping around, I gave up. Another minus is this is one of those dark scenes games that I detest. Why can't developers put color in these games? They can still be creepy only more pleasant to look at. I don't recommend this one even for the die hard HO fanatics. Sorry, people, skip this one if you are smart. Or, at least, just try the demo.
I've played other Night Train games but this one just doesn't measure up. Typical story that is the same as all the rest, you're the only one that can save the world and the evil monsters try and stop you. Not fun and this premise is getting boring. Graphics are ok but not great and, at times, they are annoying. Not much of a challenge unless you enjoy flitting back and forth finding things just to find things. I can't recommend this game especially when compared to others in this series I have played.
This is one of those games that looks great at first but soon goes down hill. Of course, you as the "expert" are the only one in the world who can save the world. This gets tiring after a while. Plus, it's another of those find this to open this to get this to open something else etc, etc, etc. I dislike that kind of premise. How about doing things that progresses the story. HO's were not that great except for the one in the nightclub. That one had great graphics and the characters didn't look cartoonish. And the HO part was fun. Well drawn. I played the complete demo just out of curiosity to see where it led and that was nowhere. I don't recommend this one if you are a serious gamer looking for a story and not just back and forth.
I am not a fan of match 3 games unless they are truly different. This one is just that. As soon as I figured out how to play, I started to enjoy playing. It is a little frustrating at times but I still enjoyed it. The mini games are fun and not too difficult and add just enough to break up the monotony of only match 3. Colors and graphics are nice and well executed and the music is pleasant. I gave it 3 stars but could be 4 or 5 for match 3 lovers. I sort of recommend this one.
Typical hero saves mankind adventure with a twist. No sinister looking evil doer in this one. The villain is an attractive female elf who hates humans and is trying to destroy their world. Graphics are good and pleasant to the eye. No dark scenes other than caves but that is infrequent. Story moves along steadily and doesn't skip around for no reason or to find or open unnecessary things. HO's are challenging but not boring and the puzzles and mini games add a nice change of pace. I bought this one based on playing the demo and I'm glad I did. This is the SE version but I can't foresee any big differences in the CE version. I highly recommend this game for a change of pace from your average HO that is out now. Enjoy this one.
Again, this is not quite a 5 star game. I enjoyed playing it and I want to see how it turns out but this one needs a little something to raise to 5 stars. Great story and events fall into place nicely. One of the reviewers hinted that the game is a little childish and I would tend to agree but not to the point of annoyance. Like the HO's and the puzzles. They had just the right amount of difficulty and fun. Graphics and sound are good although a little on the grainy side but pleasant to watch and play. I recommend this one, again for the fun loving HO players and those that enjoy light , bright games. Play the demo and have fun!
They need 1/2 star ratings because this is better than 4 but not quite 5 stars. I like the story on this one although it is rather amateurish. The lead character ( a female of course) is trying to get back to her dimension and is being helped by these ancient Mayan people.
The characters are childlike in their actions and voices but they don't detract from the story.
Graphics are well drawn and have nice detail with great backgrounds and lots of bright colors which I enjoy in a game. And the sounds and music are not garish.
The HO's are infrequent and don't pop up just because the developer wanted to put one in. They are there when they are actually needed and add to the story. The puzzles and mini games are fun and have the right amount of challenge.
I highly recommend this game for the fun loving HO loving people but not for the ones that prefer the dark foreboding HO's. The demo was fun and I was disappointed when it ended. Have fun with this one.
This has to be one of the worst HO games I have played in a long time. It has no rhyme or reason. You just plod around finding things to open other things and get nowhere fast. One of the objectives (?) that popped up was to unpack the suitcase but that never happens and then you have to destroy a perfectly good pillow to make some kind of mixture.
Graphics are almost cartoon quality and not very well thought out.
The HO's themselves are without reason and take you where it is not logical to go. The mini games are ridiculously simple and I wondered why they even had them. I have played this developers games before and I don't think I ever liked them let alone bought one. Sure won't be buying this one.
I don't recommend this game despite the 5 star ratings. They must have played a different game than I did.
