Well, if you look at the best times, my 11.5 hours was pitiful.
This is s straight ahead, old-style HO game. Many scenes, many revisited, all part of a model of the great ship Titanic. What makes this game really fun is the story. You are sailing on a replica of the original ship with descendants of the original passengers. The mystery is to find who's gonna "done it" on the new ship.
Each of the very many HOs and simple puzzles (except the stupid matchstick things, which I've NEVER been able to solve) reveals a new page in the diary of a traveller on the first Titanic. I found it well worth to complete some of the more boring scenes, to be able to read the story, and find out the solution at the end of the game.
I enjoyed this a lot. If you like simple HOs, simple puzzles, and a relaxing game that you won't lose your place on if you leave for a while and come back, this game if for you.

This was a lovely game with beautiful graphics, mystical scenery and objects, great mesmerizing music. Fun game play seeking out the fragments of objects and moving between the various kingdoms to find the things needed to reach the seeker's goal. The problem with the game is in the story and the hopeless choices that the player has to make. AdriannaIP stated it very well.
I spent a lot of time in the game searching for a way not to chose extermination of one tribe over another. (I think that's the only reason the game took me 3 1/2 hours - short game.) Believe me, I hated the choice I had to make to advance the game. I saw many reviews talking about what a great game this is for children. I don't know if the CE might have had more options, but the SE is NOT for children. The choices require an adult sensibility and an understanding that this is only a game, not real life. Some story elements might give some children nightmares.
That being said the story itself had all the elements of the hero's tale and fantastic fantasy. I'm not making a recommendation. Playing the demo will not help make a decision whether to buy - the hard choices happen late in the game.
What would adventure be, without the element of uncertainty? Play as Jennifer as she explores the ruins of the Maya civilization in search of her father.

Based on 25 minutes of the demo. (Wrote "demon" first - probably more appropriate.) Good story. Good graphics. Very tedious play. The puzzles are fairly easy, which is good; the HOS are dreadful - tiny detail in complex scenes. One plus - no junk piles.

I knew from the reviews that I would not buy this game because it's timed and I always get stuck on timed games, but I played the demo to see what it is like. Pretty standard match-3 with interesting power-ups that pop up on the game board. You need to strategize how to use these to complete the boards. GREAT visual reward for each level completed. There are also interesting clear the board games about every 5 levels.
I (surprise) got to level 2-7 before the demo ended, but I doubt I would have gotten much further. The level 1 games are easy to complete in the time allotted. When level 2 starts they get SIGNIFICANTLY harder to finish.
If you don't mind the timer this is a fun game. Just not for me. Enjoy.

This review is based on the demo only. I did finish the demo and then immediately uninstalled the game.
The "guide" is the best part of this game - loopy, irreverent, many eyed and lots of fun to hang out with. The story is also good - boy rescues girl, but set on the Day of Dead in Mexico which is fun and unusual. I really liked the quirky graphics, too.
What I didn't like was the game play. Every action is painfully slow. As another reviewer mentioned, turning screws takes half a lifetime. Retrieving objects is also slow. So by the time an action the game performs is done, I'd forgotten what I was doing or planning to do next. Admittedly, that may be a result of my age and brain function, but I DON'T THINK SO!
The instructions for some of the mini-games were obscure and I had to check the strategy guide to get instructions about how to actually play the game. One instruction was to let the meter fill up before taking an action, but did not tell you what action you had to take to fill the meter. I also found many of the actions not particularly intuitive and was referring to the strategy guide to find out what to do next way more often than I want to be doing that. (I will demo a CE to help me decide if I want to buy the SE later on. If I can't figure out the CE without help, I generally will not buy the SE.)
So overall this was a no go for me. Sorry, because I think the story with its quirks and twists might have been fun to follow through.
Prepare for a mind-bending journey into the realm of the weird in Haunted Halls: Revenge of Dr. Blackmore! Brace yourself for the unexpected in this exciting Hidden Object adventure!
I hardly ever buy CEs. This reminds me why. The demo was really exciting and interesting and convinced me this would be a fun and somewhat challenging game. (I don't like too much challenge and want my games to flow right along, but I don't want them too easy either.) The graphics are beautiful and the sound was OK, if a bit annoying. Great whimsy and fun in the the beginning that collapsed quickly after the demo.
There are four and a half "chapters" and the bonus chapter. Once you've completed one, the others are duller and duller and duller repetitions of the first. I wish I could detail a few of the things that drove me crazy, but that would spoil it for those of you who decide to buy the game and go forward. Those who have finished will know exactly my beef. In addition, all of the parts are strewn with illogic and physics that simply does not begin to work in the real world. Nothing makes any sense. There were several times when I was stumped, went to the guide and found out there was no way I could have deduced the required activity, including a rather odd use for a chameleon.
Some of the HOs required one to find an object that was either invisible or simply not what was described. The "not as described" were not differences in interpretation, but generally whole random things. There were not a lot of these and I would not have commented on them, if the rest of the game hadn't annoyed me so much.
There's also an activity that requires the player to make a concoction MANY TIMES during the game. Once was fun, but since it didn't really advance the play, way before I got to the last one, I was REALLY tired of having to do it.
Finally, it's short. Maybe it's short because it's easy. Maybe it's just short, but it's too short for a CE. Sorry folks.
I just finished this beautiful game. It's a straight-ahead jigsaw game with swapped square pieces, but it's much more than that. The game is a succession of puzzles, each one a chapter from a book. The scenes and settings are ghostly and surreal. The story itself is pretty surreal as well. The artwork is absolutely beautiful and enticing - and odd. I had so much fun in the early parts of this game that I consciously slowed down so that completing the 20+ chapters took me nearly a month.
The only reason I gave 4 stars to the Challenge level was that even in the easier mode, some of the puzzles were very hard, and took me a long time to solve.
I wish there were more games as interesting and quirky as this. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Tiny Bang Story.

I agree with many other reviewers that this game is REALLY EASY. Similar puzzles repeated over and over. While this may sound ugly, the game is like reading a trash novel - you know the outcome and the pages just fly by but you feel OK when you're done.
I only completed the trial and decided not to buy but I don't regret my hour.
I have discussed my dislike for timed games on many of my negative reviews. This one has something worse than a timer. I didn't think there could be a really dreadful Match 3, but this is it. Not only is there a timer (and the time for each level seems to be somewhat random), the cells are so tiny, that on my little 13" screen almost all I did was mis-click. Quit after timing out on the 4th level. If you have young, sharp eyes, or a really big monitor, this might not be an issue. But it sure was for me. BTW, I couldn't figure out the story line either. . .
First time I've made this mistake. I purchased the game without doing the trial or reading the reviews, based on the first game, which I loved. The timer killed me. Did I say "killed" loudly enough. I have now repeated the FOURTH level, FOURTH level more than 20 times and cannot advance. I can't figure out how to play the game any faster. No game should be this hard. PLUS, there's no music, just clinks and plops. I play these games for relaxation and entertainment. What was I thinking?
