In 2012 I played the first Christmas Stories game – Nutcracker, and since that time it has been my tradition to add each yearly release of Christmas Stories to my collection. I absolutely love the Christmas Stories game and this year’s release The Christmas Tree Forest is no exception. I enjoyed the game from the very first scene until the game ended and I can say that this one will be right on par with my favorite of the series Nutcracker. I loved everything about this game beginning with a beautiful storyline as Inga began her search for her mother who disappeared the previous year.
I’m not going to go into a lot of detail about the game because many of you have already played it but if you have not yet tried one of this developer’s Christmas Stories games, I think that The Christmas Tree Forest will be a great game for you to try. Perhaps you will love these games as much as I do. Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

Dark City Budapest is an excellent game from one of my favorite developers. At least for me, this is a game that will become a Halloween favorite that I will replay each year. Although I am not a huge fan of vampire type games, I did find myself enjoying this one. Not only is the game great for the Halloween season having a detective theme makes the game one that can be played at any time of the year.
The hidden object scenes are excellent and have the variety that we have come to expect. However, I happen to prefer the list find style of HOS to the other styles. What surprised me is that I enjoyed the puzzles more than the HOS. As has become the trend, there were more puzzles than hidden object scenes. If you purchase the CE version of the game, then you can replay most of the puzzles.
Overall, I enjoyed the storyline that had me guessing throughout the game. The story moved along at a good pace and did keep me entertained. For me the game was a long game and it probably took me longer to complete because I spend a lot of time making sure that I find all of the collectibles.
Even though this is a game purchase for me, please play the demo to see if Dark City Budapest is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming!
I recommend this game!

I love this developer and their games. They may have changed their name last year but they still manage to retain the same quality. This developer doesn’t take shortcuts! The graphics are amazing, and the story is even better. I love a game that keeps me entertained from the time I start to play until I am finished.
Often, well to be honest almost always, I complain about too many puzzles in HOPA games. In Edge of Reality Call of the Hills the puzzles fit so seamlessly into the storyline that they didn’t feel like time-fillers or that they were thrown in because gamers love puzzles. I really enjoyed the puzzles in this game particularly the one early on with the chained books. It took me a bit to figure that one out but once I got it, the puzzle was easily solved. I love the twist on this untangle puzzle that is very creative! The HOS are also creative but many of them are used more than one time even though they are changed a bit each time. There is a lot of variety in the HOS although the list type is still my favorite.
I’m not going to delve into the story, or the mechanics of the game as other reviewers will provide all the details. However, since I happen to like hunting for collectibles and morphing objects, I generally opt for the CE version of games, and Call of the Hills has exactly what I want in a CE game. For me, the Edge of Reality games are ones that I have always enjoyed, and Call of the Hills is simply another terrific game in the series. The developer has found a way of always keeping this series fresh because each game has a different storyline or theme. I happen to enjoy fantasy games and have loved fairies and elves since my childhood. They still fascinate me today and maybe that’s why I enjoyed this game so much.
If you are looking for a great fantasy game, Edge of Reality Call of the Hills is one of the best and I highly recommend that you try the demo to see if it is a game that you will enjoy. Because I played the beta for the game, I purchased the games as soon as the demo downloaded so that I could jump right in and play the full game. As far as I’m concerned, this game has it all. Happy gaming!
I recommend this game!

Halloween Stories Defying Death was surprisingly a game that I did enjoy. I am not much into spooky games but this one really was rather tame compared to some of the other Halloween themed games that we have had over the past several years.
The game had an interesting storyline that was easy to follow and it did make sense. So often the back story of some games seems to get bogged down or last but this one held to the storyline without getting bogged down or side-tracked.
Another thing that surprised me while I played the game is that I found myself enjoying the puzzles. Maybe it’s because I enjoy puzzles that are not too difficult, but I think it was most likely that I happened to like the types of puzzles that were included in the game. At any rate, I did find myself playing all of the puzzles without skipping any of them which is highly unusual for me. In fact, I think I liked the puzzles more than I did the HOS. I found the HOS a bit boring and, particularly, in the silhouette style HOS the items were difficult to figure out.
Even though the game is not exceptional, it still was entertaining. Defying Death is a game that I will play again since I know that I missed some of the fragments and morphing objects. I think that I was so engrossed in the storyline and moving forward in the game that I overlooked hunting for the collectibles at times.
For me, the game was one I purchased as soon as the demo ended. I found that I wanted to continue playing to see how it all ended. If you want an easy sort of Halloween game, then I can recommend Halloween Stories Defying Death as one you might enjoy. Happy gaming!

Over the years I have played many of the Dark Romance games and some were great while others were not. I am happy to say that Dark Romance Vampire Origins is a terrific game. I enjoyed everything about the game beginning with an excellent storyline that developed as the game moved forward. The ongoing theme in all of the Dark Romance games is that the story develops as it is told by each of the “lovers” while switching between the two. In this case we have Gabriel who is a half human-half Vampire and then his human sweetheart Sabrina. Early in the game we are introduced to Tamash who is the original vampire but he needs the power of Gabriel to become the most powerful vampire of all time. The one thing that stands in his way is Gabriel’s love for Sabrina. As you play the game you will need to overcome obstacles to reunite with your beloved and hopefully have a happy ending.
I loved everything about this game, which was a bit of a surprise. I’m not a huge fan of vampires or other ghoulish type characters but I was determined to find a way to overcome the evil vampire so that my lovers would have their happily ever after.
As you may know I’m not a fan of puzzles, but I found the puzzles in Vampire Origins to be much better than the HOS. I found the HOS to be watered down with many of them being rather different than the norm. I prefer the original list type HOS and don’t care much for the simplistic mini-HOS where we must find a limited number of items to complete an item we need and, IMHO, there were too many scenes that were that type or ones where we much match items. My favorite HOS is the one where we move various rings to complete the fish to match the ones we need to find. That one was fun as were the larger list find HOS.
Every puzzle I played in Vampire Origins was great. There were several that I really enjoyed and maybe one or two that I’ve not previously seen. One puzzle that I haven’t seen in ages is the one where we had to move candles so that all of the red ones were inside with the blue ones on the outside. This has always been a favorite puzzle of mine and even though it took me a while to get it right, I finally did it. So much fun! Bravo, Domini Games because I think you have created a game that I not only enjoyed playing when it was released as a CE but one that I will enjoy just as much when I play it again in the future.
When CE games were first introduced sometime around 2010, I was thrilled because they had the in-game strategy guide. Those were the days when I was fairly new to playing HOPA games and often needed the strategy guide to get me through the tricky parts when I was stuck. It made sense to purchase the CEs, so I didn’t have to leave the game to open the strategy guide to find the help I needed. It wasn’t too long before the developers began adding collectibles and other extras to their games, which made the CEs even more valuable. In recent years many developers have watered down the collectibles in their games but Domini Games is still a developer who adds value to their games with all of the collectibles and extras. Generally there are several different types of collectibles to find and, of course, I want to find them all. and that adds more enjoyment to the games.
With Dark Romance Vampire Origins, I don’t think it will matter which version of the game you decide to purchase because the game will be enjoyable in either version. Even though I believe that Dark Romance Vampire Origins is one of the best games in the series, I always recommend that you try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming!

Labyrinths of the World Hearts of the Planet is possibly the most beautiful game in the Labyrinths series. I found the depth of coloring to be perfect to portray the beauty of this fantasy world while bringing its characters to life. There is no need for me to recap the storyline as that’s done on the game’s main page and by another reviewer.
As enticing as the storyline might and graphics might be, what almost put me off from purchasing the game was reading the review that as usual gave a breakdown of the HOPS and Puzzles. Once I know that there is an overabundance of Puzzles as opposed to HOPs, I am far less likely to purchase the game. I am a HOS lover and that is why I became a member of BFG some 16 years ago – not to play Puzzle laden HOPA games. In spite of the numerous complaints from myself and other gamers, some developers continue to ignore our pleas for balance between those two components of their games. At one time I purchased every CE that was released but that is no longer the case. I now purchase half the quantity of games that I once did here at BFG. Here’s the thing, If I want to know how many HOPs or Puzzles are in a CE game, I will wait until I play the game. I would not hesitate to say that BFG loses a good portion of its HOPA business simply because some reviewers continue to rattle off every little detail of a game. Why purchase a game when you can simply read a review?
Once I tried the demo for Hearts of the Planet I was hooked. I did enjoy the gameplay because it was not always easy to figure out what I needed to do next in order to move forward in the game. I enjoy any game that allows me to use my brain rather than holding my hand as I play. Recently there have been far too many games that pretty much tell the gamer what needs to happen next. Fortunately, Hearts of the Planet lets me think for myself and figure out my next step. If I am stuck there is always that trusty hint button to use.
The HOS are creative, well-designed, and offer the usual variety of styles. It seems to me that there is at least one HOS where I haven’t seen that style used in the past. Although I far prefer the HOS to Puzzles (guess you must know that by now), I did happen to enjoy some of the Puzzles, but I also skipped many others. I do like that most of the Puzzles can be set to either solve in either Easy or Hard mode. Even though you specify the default mode for playing the Puzzles if you selected the custom mode of gameplay, you could still switch to the other mode for each Puzzle if you wish.
For me, the gameplay in Hearts of the Planet is enjoyable because I prefer going back and forth between scenes to playing a game that is strictly linear. I love a game where I have a lot of inventory and need to remember where items are used. I’ve still not finished the game and consider it to be long. Of course, I am a slow player since I don’t want to miss anything and find myself looking at every detail in each scene.
Labyrinths of the World Hearts of Planet is a terrific game and one that I’ve enjoyed playing. As always, I recommend that you try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming!

The Mystery Trackers series of games is at the top of my list of favorite games to play and replay. Mystery Trackers: Fatal Lesson is a very good game but it is obvious that it needs some quality control so my review is based only on the demo since the game needs a fix before I spend my money or my existing credits.
Fatal Lesson finds our agent back at the MT training camp but this time as an instructor rather than a cadet. While on this assignment as an instructor you have your trusty companion Elf by your side. Elf is not used all that often in the game and then only for minor tasks. Agent Shade who was your bestie during your days as a cadet has become a long-time friend and co-worker at the agency who is now also serving as a temporary instructor at the camp. Now that you are back at the camp you soon discover that things are not quite as easy as you thought. It seems that a couple of the students have been working on an experiment that has unleashed some danger that you and agent Shade must now deal with.
I actually enjoyed what I played of the game and once I know the game has been fixed, I will then go ahead and buy the full game. I did see another reviewer comment that the game is too easy, but I did not find it to be all THAT easy. In fact, I had to use the hint button quite a few times just during the demo. There is one HOS where I had to use the hint quite a few times as the items were almost invisible. I realize that developers do this to stretch the game time as well as to make the game more difficult but honestly, I don’t enjoy having to use the hint button simply to find items that are over the top difficult to find.
Now MT Fatal Lesson is a game that had to types of puzzles that I enjoyed. There were several within the demo that I think are excellent and although they are not new, I’ve not seen many of them for a long time. The HOS are excellent with the exception of the one with very invisible items to find. I like the variety and creativity in the HOS that is a bit different that having too many of those mini-HOS where we only need to find maybe five to ten items to build another item.
I am hoping that the game is even better after the demo. Of course, the demo ends on a cliff hanger the has me hoping there will be a fix for the game very soon. Even though I enjoyed the game, as always, please try the demo to see if it is one that you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming!
I recommend this game!

I’ve played the game all day and finally completed the main game but have yet to begin the Bonus Chapter so it will wait until tomorrow. I am looking forward to playing that chapter as we learn a bit more about Dr. Diana Helsing who is a character in the main game. Even though I believe that Dark Romance Vampire Origins is one of the best games in the series, I always recommend that you try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming!
