I keep downloading these JM games in hopes they will change the moving board and shaking gems. For me, it's all too much movement on top of already fast moving game play. Or maybe add an option to stop those things.
If that doesn't bother you, and you like pure M3's than surely you will find some things to like about the game. The graphics are crisp, colorful and big. Game movement and challenge are good. It's great that they give you options for level of difficulty. I personally don't like M3's that are limited moves only and this one gives you another option.
So if you like pure M3's it's worth at least checking out.
I have almost the exact same thoughts on Laruaville 2 as I did for the first one.
Pros: Nice, sharp, colorful graphics but only in the cut scene areas. Good game play (smooth and fast swapping speed), Timed or relaxed. Combos, bombs, boxes, fog, key's & locked boxes. I had finished building the town but could still play levels, I stopped at 100 due to lack of challenges).
Cons: There are few inhabitants. Puzzles include mahjong, solitaire, HOG. I think they added a puzzle since the last game.I had finished building the town but could still play levels, I stopped due to lack of challenges. I could be wrong but it seems like there are less levels until you finish the town.
It's a small step above most, so I recommend it. Also it is like Fishdom in my opinion. But it's just an average M3 game.
If you really like M3's, sometimes you have to go with a lamer one just to play because you've played all the other good ones. Such is the case here. Graphics are grainy, nothing impressive to see anyway. There are 80 levels. You can save up your bonuses but if you get to the last level, you can't play anymore so no point in saving them. This was just a very average M3 game. It feels old, like it could have been release 5 years ago.

Neteret wrote a review that is very similar to my thoughts. We even started getting frustrated at the same level, 153. About that time you stop trying to get diamonds and gold tiles, and start having to get a certain number of bombs or electricity bombs. Sometimes you might have to get like 15 bombs and 5 electricity, that's too much. And they start all of a sudden, you don't start with lower goals and increasingly get more. So yes, this game is oddly frustrating.
I've said this about other Fishdom games. On the surface they look to be made for smaller kids. But the level of challenge gets so difficult I can't imagine many kids getting very far. The games do not change much with each iteration. Same fish, basically same decorations, plants. Goals are all the same. Clean and feed the fish are all the same. Not enough selection of fish.
Finally, one of the most frustrating things is that I set the difficulty to relaxed mode, and checked all the setting to turn "off" oil, timer and whatever the other was. But when I went back and restarted the games, guess what, oil slicks. Frustrating.
Fix the logical progression of difficulty. Perhaps make a new version that is slightly geared more for adults.

If you are used to playing M3's, than you are used to swapping as fast as you can. Not here. Other reviewers complained about it being slow, but I wasn't sure if they were referring to a performance issue or not. Well definitely not. The slowness in question refers to how slow the matched tiles fall off the board and how slow the swapping is. It's like in slow motion but it is definitely intentional. I can only think based on the storyline, that this is intended for children. Which it would probably be a great starter M3 game for a kid. Sadly this is certainly not even close to the worst M3 out there. It does have the elements most M3's have. I would suggest using a free game token or only purchasing with a big sale.
Very much like the Park Ranger series, although Park Ranger had better graphics in my opinion. 98% HOG with puzzles in between HOG's. It's great when you just want to HOG it up, not think to much. The graphics are pretty messy and cluttered which makes it more fun to find, but not more fun to stare at. It's neat that it seems there are real photos of lot's of people. A lot of the items are too grainy though. I'm ready to see a HOG where there are new and different in between puzzles and really crisp, sharp items. And one that has more to use your points on than just buying junk. The recycling and the shadow items are a great feature though. And there are lots of different scenes, they don't just continuously reply the same handful of scenes like a lot of other games do.
I recommend this game!

I have a review of the CE, I don't think it is worth the money. This game is like the Gardener games where you have decorated the landscapes.
My only complaint is that is too short.

This is just an average game. Compared to some of the newer, more innovative games coming out, this one pales in comparison. Nothing in the game ever 'wowed' me, and that is a shame. It had all the basic components a decent HOG needs these days #collectables, interactive map, bonus chapter, etc.# but again nothing that impressive. If you are going to spend CE money, there are many other games more worth the money. I would recommend buying it on a super sale or with a free game credit.
For what quality there is in the game, unfortunately grammar and spelling were overlooked. That became increasingly worse towards the end of the game. And reoccurred though not as dramatically in the bonus chapter. That's unfortunate.
I recommend this game!

The collector's edition is NOT worth the money. While I haven't played the SE, I can't imagine what it lacks as there aren't any special features in the CE. As others have said, it is way overpriced. Otherwise it is just like all the other games in the series but not the best. I wish I hadn't bought the CE, should have known from the demo. Lesson learned.
It's been described enough in other reviews. Among HOG's this is a quality game but nothing mind blowing. For me the best parts were the actual HOG scenes, and the mini games. There was a nice mix of regular, matching, progressive, and other types of interactive ones. There were some mini games that I had never seen before, and that was very refreshing. There was a hint/teleport/active zone map. You could also collect hints by finding morphing objects. Because you have such a helpful map, you almost really never need to use the hints. At one point I had over 20 hints saved up, never did use them all.
So overall, it doesn't lack much in a better than average HOG. There isn't anything super exciting and different in the way of actual game play and progression. This is definitely exactly what you would expect in a HOG.
