The best thing about this game is that it has an "untimed" mode that lets you earn 3 gold stars no matter how long it takes you! I like to take my time and figure things out and not have to constantly repeat a level to meet a time constraint.
You are Ingolf, the younger son of Konung Amar who rules over the Viking nation. When the Konung wouldn't surrender his golden ring, the midget Loki cursed the ring and the Konung and essentially ruined the kingdom. So you are sent by your father to give the ring to Loki, and along the way you have a lot of time management adventures.
The game has the standard farms and sawmills plus some chests you have to open and some villagers you must speak to. It also has the standard "bonus" boots to make you run faster and tools to help you demolish buildings more quickly.
The one really annoying thing is the sound. The music is horrible and the workers constantly say "I will get it done". I recommend turning off the sound, except it does notify you when the boots or other bonuses have refilled.

Once again you are Kate in this third game in the series. Your world has been destroyed by snakes and fire, and only you can save it by collecting four elements in four different worlds to activate a machine which will save your planet.
There is a diary, a quick-restoring hint button, and my favorite -- the interactive map that lets you jump between locations and notes which locations have something you currently need to complete. There are a few HOS, some are lists and others are place the object in the scene. There are even 40 morphing objects to collect (and the map tells you which ones you've missed!).
The CE gives you the Bonus chapter and the Strategy Guide, plus the ability to replay the minigames and puzzles. A thoroughly satisfying game sequel, based on the demo. One more to buy!
I recommend this game!

This game has a mechanical theme that is carried throughout, from the opening screen and cut scene, to the icons for "play", "options", etc. It is quite clever in its use of robots and mechanical objects to immerse you in the game world. Your uncle Davincino is an inventor who is captured by the Iron Lord's men, who also took over King George's throne and kingdom. Your are to seek out Nostramus for help. There is a diary and a quickly refilling hint button.
But the "cool stuff" is a Mindscape tool crafted by your uncle, that lets you read minds of animals to figure out what they want in order to help you achieve your goal. Another cool object is your small robot buddy Little Jim, who can fly and fit into places you cannot to help you open doors and flip switches and escape from jail.
There are no HOS, only mini-games that are pretty easy, but the mechanical theme is so pervasivie, it is fun to see what robots show up next.
I love this game! This is the 5th in the Dark Parables series and they keep getting better and better and adding nice touches along the way. You are in Italy where a 1000 year old Godmother has been stealing young women and turning them into glass, trying to find the true Cinderella. Along the way you run into Katherine, whose sister was stolen at the ball last night.
There are sooooo many nice touches and things to do. Your map in miniature is on screen, the hint button works quickly, there are no mini-games but the HOS are the fragmented type you must assemble to get your final object (good thing the hint button works here -- I always need it for that "last piece!") The story is fascinating, and the graphics use the entire screen and are well-lit, even on the larger screen. The cursor is a pumpkin coach! Haven't needed the Strategy Guide yet.
There are 5 Parables to unlock by finding items -- they will tell the story of the final Cinderella. You get to dress up the former rejected Cinderellas by finding new clothes for them -- hat, dress, shoes, parasol. You get something for completing the dress up, but I haven't finished one yet so I don't know what the reward is. There are 20 cursed morphing objects to find. And a mirror portal to fix, but not sure if it is good or bad since the witch stole Katherine through it right after I fixed it! And finally, the bonus game is called "The Oriental Cinderella", which is an actual story I bought for my daughter so we'll see if it is the same.
This is the third and final chapter of the Princess Isabella series. I've played the other two, but you don't need to in order to play this one. The Witch has taken your Mother and your Fairy Godmothers, and you need to rescue all of them.
You get a Dragon Helper with a Magic Flute that contains a Lift Song (hopefully you get others as the game progresses?#. You also have a Fairy helper who eventually gives you a Magic Wand with two initial spells #command creatures, break things# that seems to be upgradeable as you go along.
There is no map, and the HOS #so far, in the demo) are lists only with no interaction -- kind of disappointing after the clever HOS in most of the other games currently out. You have to complete magical portraits using your magic wand to break items to find portrait pieces, which then opens up another pathway for you. Another irritant is after you use the magic wand, you have to re-holster it yourself, instead of it automatically returning and being ready.
You also make friends with an Owl, who provides info along the way. Since this is the third and final game in the series, for me it is a definite buy!
I did not play the previous "Rite" game, but I did play Chimeras, so I assumed this would be great. And it is. There are so many nice, extra touches. You have to save your town Willow Ridge from the trees that are overtaking it now that the lighthouse has exploded. You have an amulet, which you break, so then you have to find the pieces to fix it -- it makes the trees recede. You find pieces of a map, which is interactive, and has "sparkles" in casual mode to remind you of things you haven't finished. Of course, you had to find the map pieces first. Your inventory also has its quirks -- click on the "+" and you find something else to do with the item. The HOS are different -- when you find an item, there is an extra piece behind it to click on that leads to the end item in the scene. Even the mini-puzzles are unique -- haven't found one yet that I've seen before. A definite buy! Plus the first Rite game as well!
I hated the CE version of this, but I've changed my mind and actually enjoyed the SE demo version. I've played the other two Empress of the Deeps, so I know the story but they've changed this enough so it appears new and different. The hint button refreshes quickly, so you don't need the strategy guide from the CE version. There is a map and a journal. You have to recover 4 runes to save the phoenix and your people. I will have to buy to complete the story!
This story is intriguing and grabs your interest. It is similar to Sacre Terra - Kiss of Death, in that it is a battle between good and evil, and portals hold the seals that puts evil away. The graphics are excellent, particularly the scenes of Italy and the cut scenes throughout.
You are Vanessa, summoned by Father Benedict to find the stolen seals using 15 messages left by your grandfather, who was the seals guardian and is also missing. What I like best is, although it is a "dark" story, the scenes are full of light that I don't have to stand up to search a HOS on my large monitor -- the top of the screen is as bright as the rest. The mini-puzzles are not necessarily unique, but the art is. The HOS are in list form or in "place the object in the scene" form. You can actually read the journal and see what you need to see. The map is interactive, the hint button refills immediately and the story is good. A definite buy!
This is the third in the Shiver series, but they are not related except in name. You are travelling by buggy instead of train this time, which is overturned by a wolf, whom you shoot but then later save. This is the first CE I've played in the Shiver series, but like others I am not sure it is worth twice the price. There is a Strategy Guide, but it is not listed as part of the CE so it may be with the SE as well. The Strategy Guide is needed with this one, as there is no map and not sure how helpful the hint button is. It is a very good story, quite dark, however, until you find/earn the lamp. The inventory items are in themselves often mini-puzzles -- kind of a unique twist. The HOS are multi-step to find the link that leads to the item you need -- I clicked around until the cursor turned to a hand and then tried to figure out from there what that item would go to - too stubborn to use the hint button. I did have to skip a mini-game or two -- not enough patience today! The mini-games were not unique, unfortunately. In casual mode, there appear a few dots indicating where you should go/look next -- hard to tell unless you start clicking on them and realize they actually help. I like this game, I just can't decide if the CE is worth it.
This is the first game I've seen from this developer, and boy is it good, as everyone has noted. It is so interesting. The HOS are like mini Rube Goldberg machine puzzles -- no lists! You have to figure out what to use to make the marble drop and hit the spring which fires the arrow which gets you your final object. What you need to use may be in the HOS, or in your inventory. So cool! The hint button stays on until you get to where you need to be next -- less work on the finger, but takes a bit longer to refresh. Have only skipped one puzzle so far, and the mini-puzzles don't really tell you a lot about what you need to do -- again, you have to use your brain. You also get to collect 50 scorpions and win awards. The only irritation I have is that the inventory doesn't lock open, so I have to keep opening it to remember what is in there. Buying it now while I'm typing this.
