In this story, you deal with a lot of ghosts! There is only one game mode. - The sound is good. - The graphics are quite dark. But the objects in the HOS are easy to find. You have to combine some of them, before you can use them later. - The puzzles are on the easy side. - You have a journal. There is also a map, but no real use for it: you see the buildings, but no description and no path. - The hint system is also not really useful. It asks you to click an object to know the use for it. But if I want to know what to do next, there will be no help... I needed the walkthrough a number of times. - Collect ravens to get more hints. - Collect 50 clovers to unlock the Unlimited HO game. - You get also some achievements, for example for using no hints. I got bored of walking to and fro, and not remembering where a location was. I don't like it, when I need the walkthrough, just because the map is no map. I finished the game because I don't give a review otherwise. But I prefer the other "Midnight Mysteries".
This is a great game with a nice storyline, beautiful graphics and sound and a good length. There are 2 game modes. The HOS are clear and the puzzles are quite easy but interesting. The hint system is good, showing you the way. There is no map, but I didn't miss it. Without skipping anything, it took me 3 hours to finish, in Expert mode.
This game is quite dark. The objects in the FROS are not easy to find. But still, I like it. The storyline is good. The puzzles are quite easy. There is a good map, showing active locations, and also a journal, summary of the story. Finding morphing objects helps recharging the hints quicker. You can play in Hard mode only after finishing the Normal mode. The game is pretty short. It took me a bit more than 1 1/2 hour to finish... But I still recommend it, as well as the other "Dark Parables".
This is not the typical HOG with junk piles. You have to find objects in the scenes and combine them to get another object. There are 2 game modes. The sound is really good. There are not many dialogs or cut-scenes. The graphics are clear. The objects are easy to find. Among others, you have to find punch cards to access other locations. The puzzles are quite easy. There is a journal, summary of the story, and a task list. There is no map and a lot of to and fro, but with the help of the hint system, you can easily find your way. The game is not too short. Without skipping, it took me a bit more than 2 1/2 hours. All in all, a good break from the typical HOG!
The Red Riding Hood with a twist...!! There are 3 game modes. I switched many times between Normal - sparkles, hints, map - and Hard - no sparkles, no hints, no map. - This is a good FROG, with beautiful and clear graphics. - The sound is very good, adding to the atmosphere. - The puzzles are easy. - You can find 20 morphing objects, recharging the hint system quicker. - The map shows you important locations, but is not interactive. - There is no journal, but a list of parables, summary of the story background. The game length is good. Without skipping, I needed about 3 hours. If you liked the other Dark Parables, then you'll like this one too.
I recommend this game!

Journey: The Heart of Gaia
After being kidnapped, Liz must free the Underworld from the tyranny of Scartaris Umbra.
This is not a HOG but an adventure game. The storyline is cute. There are 2 game modes. I played in Advanced. If I'm not mistaken, some puzzles are different, depending on the mode. - The graphics are cartoonish, but nice and clear. - The puzzles go from easy to really challenging; I had to use the walkthrough for some of them. - You have no journal, but a really good interactive map, showing you where there is something to do. - You can get various awards. Not skipping anything, it took me 4 hours to complete. I would add 30 minutes, using no walkthrough. I hope to see more of this kind of games!
The story is not really funny... but beautiful. There are 3 game modes. I played in Advanced Mode, where you have no sparkles. - The sound is great, music, voice-overs... - The graphics are beautiful, clear. - The HOS have an interactive part, the objects are sometimes hard to find. - The puzzles are on the easy side, but interesting. - You have a good journal, as well as a map. I found it funny because the map is upside down! The walking is not annoying. - The hint system is very good, showing you the way. Without skipping anything, it took me about 2 1/2 hours, but it seemed longer to me. I think it's well worth the money.
You have to save your kid from an evil guy... There are 3 game modes. I played in Advanced mode, so no sparkles. - The sound is good and appropriate. - The graphics are crisp. - The HOS are clear. They are interactive. Sometimes you have to find an object in another location, before you can complete an HOS. - The puzzles are interesting, not too easy. - You have a journal, summary of the story. - There is an interactive map. The only problem is that the design makes it sometimes hard to know where you have to go. - There are many locations, and when a chapter is finished, you won't have to return, and the map shows only the new locations. Without skipping, I needed about 4 hours to finish, which I consider a good length.
Ok, the storyline is not original but I like it! There are 2 game modes. I played in Expert mode: no sparkles. - The sound is good, not boring. - The graphics are crisp. The objects in the HOS are easy to find. - In the HOS, you can switch to Match-3 mode. - The puzzles are mostly easy, some more challenging. - You have a journal, containing the clues you found, and a task list. - The hint system works only for the HOS. - There is no map, but there are not that many locations, so you won't get lost even if there is a lot of walking. The length is also good. It took me about 4 hours to finish, not skipping anything.
The storyline is really interesting. There are 2 game modes. - The graphics are beautiful. The HOS are clear. - The puzzles are quite easy; I found only one challenging. - You get abilities when you help the orphans. - The hint system is like "nothing to do here". - I really missed a map. There is lot of to and fro, and I got frustrated having to walk all the time. - The game is quite long, nearly 4 hours without skipping anything. With a map, I would have given 5 stars.
