I like building TM games & this seemed interesting. I did play the full demo & it is on my 'credit to burn' list (when a credit will expire & I have no games on wish list). My concern was how fast the pace would get. Clicking on small spaces to plant things was hard for me. My hands don't always click correctly in that small of a zone. Also, reading that you do not get to pick upgrades is a bummer. It was enjoyable for the trial, but not a buy unless I have nothing else in mind. I love TM, but not the dash variety.
I have played up to level 7, I believe. I cannot play further due to game glitches. Turns out, if I had visited the game forum I would have known that this game has issues. Like most, I thought those little men were just being erratic to be amusing. It stopped being amusing when they refused to come out of the workshop to collect things. While I know this is not the place to talk about tech issues, I do believe it's only fair to let people know that a Win7 laptop cannot run this game at this time. I do hope they release a re-build, as it was a fun game so far. However, at this time, I cannot recommend this game.
I must confess that I was disappointed in this game after I bought it. Yet I kept going back to play it some more. It seemed kind of like a grind game, as there was always something in your way to your goal. The power ups were changing all the time. I wasn't sure which ones to use when, but I hate it when I can't beat a game, so I kept going back & playing levels over & over & realized I was hooked! Sneaky vikings! I can't really say why I like this game. You are basically doing the same things over & over, but there is strategy involved, in which obstacle to remove first, what to build first & what power ups to use. I bought it & I still play it off & on between other games. My only down side was the small size of things.
I am not usually big on the search for objects & figure out what to do with them type of games, but this one had puzzles in it that I loved. I don't mean the object parts, I mean the mini games in between those. I won't spoil the story, but someone needs your help. In order to help them you must solve puzzles & little adventures. I am great at puzzles, but adventures baffle me for some reason. I only needed to look up help a few times for the adventure part, so I guess I can't say it's too hard. There are many mini puzzles, but they will repeat & they will get harder. You do earn 'orbs' that will let you skip mini games, but not the adventure part. It is timed & if you do not complete all the objectives you will have to repeat that area of the game, but it is broken into 'chapters', so it's not like you start over completely. There is also a room where you can access just the mini games, once you have 'unlocked' them (by beating them once). My only down side was that I wish there had been more variety in the mini games & the ability to skip the adventure portions, but it was still awesome!
I love pipe builder games & I am not sure where I found the recommendation for this game, though I know it was here on BFG forums. This game uses hollow *Twigs* in place of pipes. Instead of filling just one screen, the screen scrolls upwards as you complete areas. You have a hero to help you & different heroes have different skills. I recommend using the first one on the left (knight?) to start, as he seemed the easiest. Read the help section before starting as well & you will be off to a good start. Also, there are more twig varieties than I've ever seen in a pipe game!
I love the twist on pipe building games & would really love to see more like this. The visuals were a bit 'old school', but it felt right for the game. Love that there are 3 characters to play as, as it will give great replay value. I bought it as soon as the trial was over.
I love pipe games, but this one is not really a pipe game. I only played the trial, which jumped from tutorial #3 to #11, so I had no idea what I was doing. It's not clear what exactly you are to do as the pipes don't join together like regular pipe games. I also found I had to keep turning pipes after I thought I had them in the right place.
The graphics are beautiful, but the game was just too frustrating for me. I usually don't use tutorials, but when I do, I expect them to go in order & to be able to be understood & if not, then put in a help section.
I gave up after about 15 minutes into the trial. No buy for me.
If you are new to TM games, you will probably like this game. If you are experienced you may want to skip it. If you played the other Time Builder's game, this is the same, just a different era. You are told what to do & how to do it. The visuals are the same cartoon style as the first one, though even I have to admit the victory dance is cute. I did buy this game, after playing the trial of the first Time Builder's game. I should have kept playing the first one & trialed this one. As it is, though I hate not finishing a game, & I am at least 1/2 way through both of the games, I will be finishing neither. I'd rather go back & replay my other TM games (Sweet Kingdom, Northern Tales, Royal Envoy 1 & 2) than suffer through more of the repetitiveness of these games. Not a game for me.
This is a good started TM game for those who have little to no experience. You are basically doing the same buildings over & over. I am more than halfway through the game & I am not going to bother finishing it, as I am bored to tears. I much prefer a challenge, even if it means I have to repeat levels & even better if there is more variety in what you are building & having to come up with a strategy *cough* (Sweet Kingdom) *cough*. That said, if you are new to this type of game, it will get you started on how these games work. I don't listen to music, so not sure if it was good or bad, nor do I follow story lines. The reason I only gave it 2 stars was that the visuals were poor to me & it was not fun or challenging enough.
I am torn on recommending it. I am going to say no for most players, but for younger players or beginners, it may be a yes.
This is my favorite of all the TM games I have played & trialed on BFG. It's challenging & you have to replay some of the harder levels more than once if you want all 3 stars, but you are not required to do so. I love the donkeys doing the work. I love the different buildings & the products you must produce. I like that different characters want different things, so it's not all the same. I have bought new TM games since buying this one, but I keep on coming back to it. I can't think of anything that I don't like about it (except maybe that annoying dragon...). I really hope the game devs come up with sequels to this or more with the same idea.
This game has 3 different modes. Relaxed (no timer), Normal (more generous timer), Timed (must be quickest). I started off playing in the Normal mode, but some of the puzzles threw me for a loop, so I switched to Relaxed mode. If you enjoy logic puzzles & match 3 type games, you will probably like this game. It has several hours of play available in Relaxed mode alone. Now I will go back & try to finish Normal & then, if I am lucky, Timed.
I don't follow the stories in the games, but this did have a story if you like that aspect of a game. The puzzles are pretty mind- bending & you really have to follow the arrows & try tactics to get through the levels. The music was nice, but repetitive to me. The colors are vivid & sharp. If you run Win7, you will need to put the game into *compatible for XP* mode, or you will have graphics issues.
I will be playing this over & over til I master it. It's also relaxing in the Relaxed mode. I really like this game!
