Let me preface this with the fact that I almost never do reviews; each of us has our own likes and dislikes, etc. However, this time I feel the need to say something. I had played the beta of this game and thought it was interesting as far as it went, so I purchased it. I wish I hadn't. After the original quirkiness of the first "scene" it quickly became monotonous. So many fix-it tasks and ridiculous game "logic" that I grew frustrated. Then, for a grand finale, I got to a scene that wouldn't let me pick up the item I needed to move on. (Who goes monster hunting without a baby doll, AMIRITE??) Now I can't even finish it though I've used the SG, hints and looked at the forums (no help) so now I've wasted two credits which possibly is a blessing in disguise because this game is pretty terrible.
The Emperor’s son has a mysterious illness. As legendary healer Daiyu, you’re called to the palace to save him, but you end up having to save yourself!
This game was just lovely to look at. The music was also beautiful and really added to the game with out overwhelming it.
There are different levels of play for you to choose. The puzzles were fun and challenging without being frustrating. The story was unique and different. This is not a spooky or scary game, in my opinion. There are achievements to win and objects to collect. The addition of the "healer's kit" game seemed unnecessary, but provided a break from the sleuthing, and was not unpleasant.
I enjoyed the game, and thought it was lovely.
Oh... and don't skip the credits! They are a fun little treat at the end!
This game is the first game I've played in quite a while that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. The story was sufficiently spooky without being gross and the graphics were excellent. The sounds added just the right touch too.
There were different levels of play for you to choose, and it wasn't over-run with HO scenes. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the occasional HO scene, but I get bored with games that have too many and forget about things like interesting puzzles or a story line.
As far as story lines go, this one was interesting. It built upon the first game without rehashing the whole thing, but you don't need to have played the previous game for this one to make sense.
All in all, this game reminded me of why I love a well done, spooky game!
I recommend this game!

This game is one of the greatest, most fun and addicting games out there. I've played it for years... yes years. It's easy to learn, but becomes more (much more) challenging the longer you play.
Play is simple. You need to defend your house from zombies. You use various plants to keep them out of your house so they can't eat your brains. As the levels increase, so do the types of zombies, plants, methods of attack and opportunities to earn cool zombie-battling goodies. Crazy Dave is a riot, and will sell you what you need to keep you safe.
The other awesome thing about this game is there are SO MANY extras beyond the main game. There are always funny and challenging mini-games, extra puzzles, and your Zen garden. Keep those plants happy, and you can earn more money to shop at Dave's. There are achievements to earn as well and some of them are NOT easy. There's also a survival mode after you've completed the adventure mode (which you can also replay) which is just non-stop-zombie-action.
All this without being gruesome or creepy. I mean, how creepy can it really be when you can battle your zombies with butter-flinging corn plants?
It's also a nice game to play for a while, then set aside and come back to at a later time. I've been playing it off and on for over a year. I can't say that about any other game. And as someone who usually plays HOPAs and gets all stressed out playing TM games (though this isn't a TM, it's a tower defense type game), the pace of this one didn't bother me a bit because you can keep playing a level until you finish it. The zombies will just keep coming!
It's got a great sense of humor- actually made me LOL for real a few times. It's no surprise to me that it won Game of the Year. It's just that well-done.
I loved this game and am not sure how I missed it when it came out, but I'm so glad I finally found it!
You get a message to come to a party, but when you get there, things are not what they seem. It's up to you to save the souls trapped by the evil spirit or end up trapped yourself.
Sounds like your typical H0G game, but it isn't. There are some Fr0G scenes, some regular H0 scenes and lots of different puzzles to solve. You really have to figure out what to do and where to go in this game. I found myself enjoying it immensely! There are hints available, but they're just that, hints. You still have to figure out what to do with them. I played the SE version of this game and it had a satisfying ending which I appreciated.
The graphics and sounds were well done and added to the mysterious feel of the game. The game functioned smoothly for me and there were no glitches or technical problems for me.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this game and when I wasn't playing it, I couldn't wait to get back to it. That's not something I feel with many games. I just really enjoyed it!
Great storyline, gorgeous graphics, fun and challenging (but not frustrating) puzzles... what more could I ask for?
Well, I'll tell you!
There are achievements to earn. There are items to collect. The map is useful. The story was sort of like a fairytale, but still original and interesting. There was a fun sense of humor about the whole thing. The addition of a "helper" was a fun twist that I really enjoyed. The storyteller was cute too!
If you enjoy HOPAs, this one is a great choice. I played the CE and feel that I got my money's worth and there's still replay value since there are three levels on which you can play.
If you hate "sparklies" the expert level is for you since it has none of them.
Just a great, fun game that I really enjoyed and hope you will too!
This is a beautiful, well-made game with a good length and interesting, if not ground-breaking, storyline.
There are different levels of play to choose from, and the puzzles are varied and not too difficult.
You play as Ethan, who must rescue his fiancée and his father, while solving the mystery of the Masked Ones and saving the town and townsfolk from destruction.
This game felt very nostalgic to me. Perhaps it was the time setting; you're not going to be looking for cell phones and flash drives in this game. I think it also was the overall "feel" of the game too. It reminded me of some of the really well made games that I played when I first found Hidden Object games.
I liked the cut scenes in the storyline. I felt they added to the mystery of the game, but they were skippable for those who don't like them.
Overall it was a good game, but not a ground-breaking game. I figured out the mystery way before my character did, and there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, but that didn't distract from the fun whole process. The bonus content was fun, but was more of a prequel rather than a continuation of the story, which I always like. The length was good, and the game felt complete and satisfying at the end.
This was a really good, fun, classic hidden object game. You won't go wrong with this one.
This is another terrific entry in the Mystery Trackers series, and probably my favorite thus far! This game is exceptionally well-done and both fun to play and beautiful to look at.
It features three levels of play, and the hardcore level is challenging enough for even the most seasoned player.
You play, once again, as "The Detective" and are called upon to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Sarah Stapleton. As you arrive on the Black Isle, things start to get creepy. The atmosphere of the game is wonderfully eerie. The game seamlessly blends live action with animation. The sound effects were good enough for me to leave them on for the entire game! The puzzles were varied and enjoyable.
When I found my special "digging, multi-tasking tool," I knew this game was something special! You can tell a lot of work and attention to details went into this game.
There are also objects to collect, in this case owls, which is always a bonus for me. There are also achievements to earn, which I enjoy.
The bonus content was fun too. The ending of the regular game was satisfying, and the bonus section took things in an entirely different direction so that it added to the game, but didn't make the standard edition seem lacking.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this game. You are in for a real treat!
In this game you play as a reporter investigating the mysterious happenings in Sunnyvale. People have been attacked by a mysterious house filled with creepy tentacle-like vines. Somehow it is all connected to a 30 year old murder!
There are two levels of play for you to choose from; regular mode and expert. In the regular mode there are sparklies to help you along, but they are not invasive or excessive. The scenes in the game are beautiful and the voice acting is really quite good. The voices and the music add to the creepy atmosphere, but are not essential since there are captions at the bottom if you choose to play without the voices/sounds/music. For those choosing the CE version, the Strategy Guide is smoothly integrated and easy to use.
There was a nice balance of H0 scenes to puzzle scenes. The puzzles were fairly standard, but thoroughly enjoyable. There is also a skip button if you get stuck.
Overall it was a good, solid game that was enjoyable to play and challenging enough to be fun, but no so challenging as to be frustrating. The ending was also satisfying and didn't have a horrible "cliff hanger". It was an enjoyable gaming experience!
This is an odd and hilarious little game. It's not particularly deep, but it is incredibly funny and an absolute delight. I try to play it every holiday season.
You play as a detective called upon to find Santa, who has gone missing. With the help of a sassy elf, an adorable snow monster, and others, you go deeper into the madness to find Santa and save Christmas.
The graphics may seem a bit dated now, but do not inhibit my enjoyment of the game. The music is fun and funky. The games are enjoyable, but not difficult. This is a great game to amuse, relax, and play just for the fun of it. It will take you to some weird places, but just relax and enjoy the ride! I laughed a lot at this quirky little gem.
