What the game has that is excellent/good Graphics excellent sound excellent cute doggie collectibles for doggie hint interactive map (beam me up Scottie) HOS not crowded and changes from list to shapes also interactive you can put items together
what I found that is not good helpful raven which you have to play a game in order to get him to do anything even though his energy is at 80%, it seems he always has to be at 100% in order to do anything.
This may be the developers way to extend the length of the game, usually I like what these developers produce, however I found recharging the raven every time to be very annoying; although some people may like this feature (I don't which is why I gave it a low rating).
I would suggest that you try out the demo before purchasing as I said some may like it some may not!

As usual these developers make a good/great game.
Good stuff 1--graphics cut scenes are excellent 2--graphics are not too dark and very colorful (which I prefer) 3--collection of lost animals (some do morph in and out) 4--collectible cards which you do need at the end 5--HOS cluttered but able to find items also interactives 6--interactive map with transporter capabilities (beam me up Scotty) also shows tasks 7--7 chapters plus bonus game which is a good length 8--hint system helps beyond usual 9--3 modes of playing to choose from
Not so good 1--voice of narrator was a bit grating and didn't really suit the character's alter ego 2--most characters dressed in period outfits except a few which were more up-to-date dressed, developers should be consistent it is very annoying when items in the games do not match the time periods.
All in all a good game, especially to play during bad weather

I played the demo and as usual with these developers they produce a great game.
Good Stuff 1--graphic clear and crisp and very colorful (one reviewer may need an updated graphic driver as he said the graphics were blurry as well as the cut scenes) 2--voiceovers were good 3--helpful characters in story 4--transporter map (beam me up Scotty) 5--hint button tells a lot do not need SG 6--music not annoying at all 7--HOS different from regular you put stuff where it belongs, sometimes it's a bit difficult to find where it goes
Bad Stuff 1--lots of back and forth, but with the map it's not too bad 2--hint button in HOS is really fast revealing where the object needs to go so keep a good eye out.
Demo ends at a certain point in the game which is frustrating as I didn't use the full hour, gives you more incentive to buy it. Which I probably will.
Hmmmmm, wonder if they are going to do a series on this game?????????????????

I have the previous game which I enjoyed so I got this one as well. I found the previous game to be a better CE than this one, there was a but more tension in it, this one seemed a bit on the light side; though good for a rainy afternoon.
SPOILER--note in the bedroom in Russia do the HOS first otherwise you will get stuck. I like to float around the rooms first and did a puzzle first instead of the HOS to get an object; game would not go any further and I had to start over!
Good Things 1--graphics, cut scenes, voices 2--transporter map (beam me up Scotty) 3--hint points you in the direction you need (no refill time) though if you use it in an HOS it must refill. 4--HOS not too dark and items were not too small you could also switch to a match 3
Bad Things 1--some puzzles too easy 2--bonus game didn't follow the track of how main game ended 3--game was too short for a CE 4--must do HOS 1st when entering a scene otherwise game gets stuck (see above)

I have the whole collection and was looking forward to another game and thought this would be as good as The Premature Burial; but unfortunately it was not. I believe the developers were just going through the motions on this one; though the graphics were excellent, but this game lacked the intensity of Burial.
Dupin's friend was annoying and you wonder why he was friends with LeGrand. I'm also finding it annoying that you have the find the same things over and over again like a hammer or knife you should just have it available until you no longer need it. Also thought the game was too short! In fact the bonus story added to the main story combined makes the length of a SE.
Good things 1--graphics and sound excellent 2--cute dogs in stories (I'm a sucker for dogs) and a Newfie there to help you sniff things out 3--journal 4--hint button finding HO's and giving directions
Not so Good 1--too short for a CE 2--having to find the same items over and over again 3--too much going back and forth 4--storyline not that great one character particularly annoying
I really don't think it's worth the price of the CE, though I used my 2 credits on it, actually thinking about it now I'm a little bummed about that too!
If they make another Dark Tales it had better be a big improvement over this one or I'm not getting it!
As far as I can see they didn't improve the graphics darkness quality in this game. I did the Beta test on this and this was the one point that I emphasized, it was just too dark; you couldn't see items that you were looking for and it would be too great a strain on the eyes. Also the scenes were too grainy.
I do wear glasses but with this game you would need night vision goggles in order to do anything.
Not the regular story about Beauty and the Beast, but a fine take nonetheless; also not as dark as some of the other games that have come out recently which is great for this time of year. You're able to imerse yourself in a fairy tale with some darkness; based on whole game.
1--graphics are lovely especially when you get to the castle they brighten up considerably; though in some of the darker scenes it is hard to find an item. 2--help button is useful not only in the HO scenes but elsewhere and recharges fairly quickly. 3--interactive HO scenes where you have to find/open items to get items; also not only is there a list but parts of items to combine in order to get one. 4--Also items are true to the time period which I really prefer. 5--voices are good and give you clues as to what/who to look for next. 6--lots of locations to got to and an interactive map which shows a picture of the location so you can easily transport there (beam me up Scotty!). 7--a journal and a task list that you can easily refer to. 8--mini games are good some a little more difficult than others and they are skipable. 9--To me this game played longer than the regular SE, close to a CE, all that was missing was achievements and collectibles.
All in all I found I really enjoyed this game though for some others it may take getting into it more before they find they like it. If this is the developer's first venture they did a great job for a SE, HO'S, adventure with a little romance thrown in. The only fault I found is that they left some characters hanging out there with no resolution.
It's nice to have a romantic story this time of year instead of the usual car crashes, nutty people, mad doctors/sciencetists running around, vampires etc.
Story Prince hires detective to find girl who lost her slipper!
1--3 modes of play 2--interactive map, informing you of tasks that need to be done (beam me up Scotty# 3--help button refills quickly in casual 4--not your usual HOS, in this you have to place the items where they should go #you may need Spock's help to think logically) 5--items so far appear to be in same time period that is portrayed in story which is what I prefer 6--take photos during gaming 7--you get to ride a Unicorn
Not just for young girls though the game gives that impression since the Prince and the Girl appear to be rather young. I personally would have preferred them a little more mature and better looking, after all it is a takeoff on a fairy tale.
All in all a nice game for this time of year when everyone is looking for their "happily ever after".
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.

I've played other Mystery Case files and enjoyed them, but I didn't even enjoy the demo on this! The only thing good I can say about it is that the graphics and sound were good. I didn't even play the full hour of the demo I was very disappointed in this game. Too bad the lowest rating I can give on this is one star, it rates 1/2 a star at best.

Loved this game it will put you in the mood for Christmas and to see the ballet.
1--beautiful graphics sharp and clear 2--cut scenes are clear and gives an interesting take on the story 3--hints are really good and with them you don't need the SG 4--includes helpful characters which you interact with 5--not too many HO scenes but some of the items are interactive 6--no journal but you have a interactive map which lets you know tasks you can complete now and transports you 7--items to collect throughout the game 8--achievements 9--music is beautiful, my only complaint is that I wish more of it played throughout the game 10--bonus game was also nice, though I would not have had one violent piece in it especially for Christmas
All in all a beautiful, romantic game in time for Christmas!
