This was supposed to be the happiest day of your life. But instead of walking down the aisle, you're in another dimension, battling a mad inventor to save your family!
What a fun HOPA! The storyline is good with time portals, secret labs, moving bookshelves and "scientific" formulas that the you have to mix up. It kept me busy but never frustrated.
The HOS (so far) are well-lighted and clearly seen, but not too easy and do have some interactivity to keep things interesting. There is a mechanical helper dragonfly that you can call up to get rid of poisonous gases. Other than that, there are no gizmos or gadgets to clutter up the game's progress.
This is a game that everyone can enjoy from junior high to adult. There is enough of a creep factor, but nothing here is going to give you nightmares. There are even a couple of very realistic cats that roll over and purr when you scroll over them.
This appears to be all adventure and puzzle and no HOS. After playing a little over 30 minutes of the demo, I found the story boring and silly. I have not the slightest bit of interest in this game.
I don't recommend this game.

Strange Cases: The Faces of Vengeance
Agent Claire Ellery must rescue her young ward, but this masked kidnapper has set deadly traps in the abandoned mall!
After finishing the demo, I purchased this game and enjoyed playing it very much. I liked the story line and really did not find the background all that grainy as some have. I thought setting it in an abandoned mall enabled a variety of different locations (dress shop, cafe, book store, etc.) and was a great idea. The gameplay and storyline were just challenging enough to keep me interested without being so frustrating that I had to resort to help.
Story involves a lost island and an ancient civilization. Yawn. Been there, done that.
Most of the HOS are dark with smudgy graphics and small or otherwise difficult to find objects. I did not get through a single HOS during the demo without using at least one hint. Some scenes require you to find parts needed to put together something that you will use in your investigation. There is a map and a journal.
The music was awful. I had to turn it off. Another thing I found extremely irritating was the voiceover repeating if you happen to mouse over the same trigger point more than once.
WHY do these games always feature a female protagonist?????
I might be tempted to buy this one if it popped up as a DD or CW, but probably not.
To save your father from a hideous monster, you've decided to sacrifice your own freedom. Now you must journey through a strange and magical land before time runs out!
Easy game for beginners. Lots of cuteness and sugar plums. Many fishies will love it, but be sure to bring a good supply of insulin. After 30 minutes, I couldn't exit fast enough.
I, too, really do love this game. I've played the first two "acts." The end of each left me salivating for more! I can't wait to find out what the third act will bring.
This is quite a long game. There is a transporting map and a journal, both of which are helpful, especially the map, as there are many locations to visit. The artwork is average, but the cut scenes are wonderful and add to the overall atmosphere. Did I jump at some of them? Yes, I did.
There is more adventure than either HOS or mini games. Parts of each HOS are interactive, but not progressive. The mini games seem to be the usual things you find in a lot of games, and they are easy enough. There are skip buttons available for both HOS and games, and don't take too long to fill.
The creep factor is 100 percent. If you are prone to nightmares brought on by scary movies, ghost stories and the like, my advice would be to skip this one. Mwahahaha!
If this game were a novel, I would definitely want to read it.
Unfortunately, this game did not, to my mind, live up to what could have been a decent story. The voice-over of the old man at the gate was, as others have mentioned, apparently supposed to have been the halting English of a native African, or perhaps that of an exhausted old man working too long in the sun. Either way, it didn't work, because the accent was perfect American English and the voice not a bit exhausted. The next voice-over is that of the plantation owner, the cousin of our "ex-priest." Same voice, same accent, minus the pause between every word. Okaaay. So we're supposed to fall for that? It certainly gave me no confidence in what might be to come in the game.
The artwork is odd, to say the least. Cartoonish. Rather like something you might expect from a particular style of graphic novel. Unimpressive, really, and as another reviewer mentioned, like washed out watercolor. I imagine the intent was to convey the intense sunlight and heat of the plains of equatorial Africa.
I wonder if the devs gave this assignment to their summer interns?
BASED ON PARTIAL DEMO ONLY: Game play was very slow, and it was not real clear as to what to do or where to go next. The hints tell you exactly what to do -- a definite negative for me. I came across one ridiculously simplistic HOS in the approximate 30 minutes that I played.
This game became very boring very quickly. The voice over was annoying, but you can skip the cut scenes, thankfully, since there were so many of them.
Yet another story about a professor who gets lost and a female scientist who goes on a search for him.
I feel this game would be appropriate for a sixth-grader or clever fifth grader. It's difficult to understand why there are so many good reviews.
For some reason, I didn't have much hope for this one initially, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I'm really glad I did! This is the most enjoyable game I've played in a long time, in spite of the fact that we have yet another woman going to rescue a man (her uncle) who's gotten himself in trouble. And yet... did he? There may have been a whisper of a hint that there's more to this story than we think.
Finally! A game I can recommend with no qualifications.
I have to wonder at yet another storyline involving a mom/ girlfriend/ wife/ sister/ aunt or BFF needing to rescue yet another child/ husband/ sibling/ uncle/ grandfather/ boyfriend from some nefarious evil. Do the developers think only women play hidden object games? Are their imaginations so stulted that a game of seek and find is invariably welded to a plot of seek and find? Apparently so, and this game is yet one more example.
I was able to finish the demo in about 45 minutes. The graphics, music, and voice-overs were unremarkable and average quality for 2014.
The one thing I did enjoy was the Spirit of the Lake. She was so mythic! "My enemies did wrong me, and I have condemned them to suffering and doom. But if you bring to me that which I desire, I will reward you greatly."
This is not a difficult game. The puzzles were unoriginal and very easy, even for me. There is a jump map and the ability to adjust the timing of the hint and skip buttons. You can also customize certain other options. I'm glad to see more developers may be taking our complaints seriously.
This isn't a game for everyone, but I do think it will appeal to a certain niche audience.
