Setting aside the visuals which are plain, cartoonish, utterly unsophisticated and blurry for some, I didn't find anything of interest during the demo which I quit after 30 mns.
Tasks are dead simple and those that are meant to be imaginative are in fact unrealistic like defusing a bomb by rotating the numbers on the clock dial....uuuhhh ?
Minigames are far and few between. I didn't even have to complete one of them -which was totally incomprehensible - and drove off directly. What's the point in proposing minigames that do not need completing ? Same thing with the fuses. You put one in, the instructions tell you there are still some missing but it doesn't matter whether you leave it at that or not.
The intro is awful, the music ordinary, no voice-over, but 3 Modes of difficulty.
As for the storyline, in spite of its simplicity it could have been a good background had the game been conceived and designed differently.
I don't recommend this game.

No improvement in this third installment which is even worse than the previous ones in several respects.
The visuals are bad and although the HO Scenes are less cluttered than before, many HOs are nearly invisible.
Hints are limited but misclicking doesn't entail any penalty if you are not playing in Timed Mode. Else it reduces the time at your disposal
The minigames are lame and perfectly uninteresting, unless you like card solitaires and dice.
A boring game which does not re-up the image of The Lost Secrets trilogy.
I don't recommend this game.

Another succession of overpopulated HO Scenes in which some hidden objects are indeed well hidden. The worst is the penalties. 3 misclick and a window pops up saying that this will reduce the amount of time the hint meter will take to refill. Also hints don't show the location of an object; the cursor turns red when near or on an object.
I don't like games that penalize you. Why should they ? Each player is entitled to play a game the way he wants.
I don't recommend this most annoying game

This game is definitely not for me. It's a succession of overcrowded HO Scenes in which many items are difficult to spot. In addition you start with zero hint. Each object you find increases the amount of "intuition" points, up to 15, which enable you to buy hint credits. But 3 or 4 misclicks decrease that amount. Too many misclicks and you're down to zero.
Hints are of three sorts: show silhouette 1 credit, show what object looks like 3 credits, locate object 5 credits.
Not my idea of fun. I quit after completing the first scene with zero credits.
For HO fans only if they have nothing better to do.
I don't recommend this game.

Much better than its predecessor [Legacy of the Sun Princess], Curse of Babylon takes you on a tour of the Middles East in 8 chapters.
The game is a well balanced blend of HO Scenes and many minigames, with tasks to perform.
Everything is traditional and moderately difficult.
Hints are limited but you can replenish your stock by playing at will one of the three games available at the Bazaar. These are not the same as the in-game puzzles.
You can use three tools permanently available throughout the game: a baseball bat to break things, a knife and a magnifier.
Although the puzzles are old classics too, such as the Hanoi Tower, Sliders, Chinese Checkers, etc.. they are good fun to play mainly because they're all logical, save a couple that are random. I actually like these types of puzzles which do make you think but don't take ages to solve.
The visuals are good and colorful, tasks are simple, there is a variety of scenes to explore but the game is linear.
I enjoyed the trial version, and I think this game should not be ignored. It has a lot to offer and is worth purchasing, especially if you can get it on sale.
I recommend this game!

20 minutes was the maximum I could stand. And as there is no exit buttton I had to resort to CTRL + ALT+ DEL and end the task in Task Manager ! Although the graphics are cartoonish I didn't like them; the island is too small anyway and the hidden objects require a microscope. I spent those 20 mns with my nose squeezed against the screen. As for the minigames, they're silly and not even funny. A game that will never end up in my collection and that I cannot recommend.
I don't recommend this game.

I quit the demo after 35 minutes at the beginning of Chapter 2. As there are only 3 chapters gameplay is short.
The goals are a bit vague, but the worst is finding the items you need to progress. They are scattered all over the place, are difficult to spot, and most consists in fragments not all that easy to recognize.
Tasks are not very exciting either.
Hints recharge slowly and at times give you useless indications.
Most minigames are interesting though, and they can be skipped. But skipping costs coins which you can collect in every scene.
The game is fairly linear, but the graphics are good and neat.
The adventure seems to grow in interest and difficulty as of Chapter 2.
The storyline is simple and even secondary. Dialoguing with the characters is done via scripts.
Although I found this game rather boring on the whole, I can still recommend it on account of some of its positive features.
The best in this case is to play the trial version and see how it appeals to you.
I recommend this game!

Although counting a number of improvements over the first installment Gates of Good and Evil, the game remains very traditional in concept and design.
The visuals are still good and bright, and the HO Scenes just as overcrowded as before with many objects difficult to spot. The same scenes tend to come back several times; a greater variety would have been welcome. HOs are given in lists or as silhouettes. Hints are more generous.
Tasks are less straightforward than in the first installment and somewhat more interesting. But there is no way you can travel freely around the different locations.
Minigames are classics: maze, pipepline style, tangram, hangman, find the differences, etc.. They can be skipped. There are not many of them though, as the emphasis is placed mainly on hidden objects.
The storyline is fair and the game fairly long.
The Legacy of Nikola tesla is bound to appeal to HO lovers more than to adventurers
I recommend this game!

Rather basic in concept, Laura's adventure is pretty simple and standard with a fair storyline. The visuals are good and brightly colored, the HO Scenes manageable though at times a bit boring like having to find 30 balls or 15 toys. Some are cluttered other much more tidy. Hints are limited.
The linearity doesn't allow you to travel freely; each new scene is available, and shown on a map, after completeing the previous one
The hunt and use of.important items is easy and very traditional.
The minigames are okay: tangrams, pipeline style, find the differences, etc... One of them is funny: you have to feed a cat affected with bulimia. All minigames are replayable after they have been unlocked and some of them can be skipped.
Interaction with the different characters is done via scripted dialogs. No voice-over.
A game that won't blow your socks off but can be considered as a relaxing filler for rainy days and beginners.
I recommend this game!

Like with all Nat geo games, the emphasis here is placed mainly on the educational aspect and, in this respect, the game is highly successful. But from a purely ludic viewpoint the game lacks the principal features that make a game good fun.
The historical information [which I enjoyed reading] set aside, the graphics are very good and the well conceived storyline unfolds smoothly and is quite credible and interesting.
Another positive feature is that nothing is out of context; all the items you need to find, all the tasks to be performed pertain to the times of Cleopatra.
Unfortunately, gameplay is on the whole rather boring. Finding the fragments of objects is painstaking as they are tiny, without any real shape and since they are scattered at the four corners of each scene the only solution is to resort to using hint after hint.
The adventure itself is limited, linearity optimum and the minigames variable: some are interesting others not. None are very imaginative.
So why 4 stars ? Precisely because of its educational value which may trigger in some players the desire to learn more about Cleopatra, her epoch and her life.
I recommend this game for that reason only but it is still best to play the trial version to see if one likes it or not.
Note: Review based on the demo
I recommend this game!
