As other reviewers have said, this game needs to have difficulty setting, so you can ease into the game and figure out what to do. Then after you are done you can advance to the higher difficulty settings. I just couldn't keep up. Way too much clicking and I didn't even finish the demo before I knew it was a no buy for me. Way too frustrating which isn't what a game should be.
Who is the Crimson Thief? Can Mortimer piece together the clues to finding all the stolen items? There is much more to this new mystery than meets the eye.
This was just ok. It only took me a couple of hours to finish, so I thought it was pretty short. The puzzles were way too easy. Only get this on a good sale.
Ophthalmologist's must have a stake in Mad Head games as I couldn't even finish the demo. Way too much screen panning, and jumping items. I know a lot of gamers like special effects, and added graphic goodies, but not for me. This just makes my eyes hurt, and gives me a headache. It doesn't really give any extra quality to a game. I would rather the dev's would put more effort into the story and puzzles, than graphic effects. This game is not for me, but other gamers might enjoy it, so try the demo, and see for yourself.
I don't know why I passed on this game, but I decided to replay all my MCF games, as the new games out are so boring. So I bought all the MCF games, I didn't have. Well, I was so surprised, at the puzzles and the graphics inside the puzzles. They were fantastic. The clips of the twins, Victor, and Charles were so spooky, and added so much to the story. I just didn't want it to end. The final puzzle was a real brain burner, but I finally got it, and I just can't say enough good things about this game. I will be playing this one over and over again. Mmm.... maybe that's why they don't create games this good anymore, cuz they don't want us to replay them.
I'm not sure why I bother writing a review, as the dev's obviously aren't listening. If you have any other HOP game created in the last year, then you have this one. There is nothing new or exciting at all. It's just one lock after another. Back and forth finding dumb pieces that fit into a lock that stores junk, that you need to unlock another box or cupboard that stores junk. I didn't even care for the puzzles, and that's a first for me when it comes to Elephant games, as they usually are very good. I just finished playing Return to Ravenhearst (for some reason I passed up on this game, and decided to purchase it last month). That has got to be the best game I have ever played, and the dev's need to go back and take a look at this game, and the puzzles and graphics in it. This game however, is a big pass for me.
I am a fan of puzzles, so when I read that this game had lots of puzzles, I decided to give it a try. I couldn't even finish the demo, and that's a first for me. After so many nonsense, doesn't add anything to the game tasks (other reviewers have referred to them as the zipper pull tasks), I had enough. Find oil to fill the lamp, find 2 pieces of a wire snipper, and then hunt down the screw to hold it together. You found a knife, but of course it doesn't work without oil. Find 2 pieces of a tweezer, and of course you have to find the elastic that's at the bottom of the fountain to hold them together. No, nothing else will work. So you have to hunt down a wire, and then unlock a secret compartment that holds a paperclip to attach to the wire to make it into a hook so you can unplug the water at the bottom of the fountain, to fish out the elastic that holds the 2 pieces of the tweezer together, in order to pull out an "N" that is stuck behind a wall. WOW....doesn't anyone see the insanity of this? After 40 mins of this and no movement of story, I waved the white flag, and exited the game. I think the special powers of the detective was in order to make the game seem creepy, but it just seemed really cheesy to me. The puzzles were very easy, and the same kind, where you push one item, and it effects another. Not my favorite puzzle. This is a no purchase for me.

I thought this game was pretty decent. Good fun factor, as I like puzzles, and there are a lot of variety. I especially like that you don't have a lot of back and forth, and the objects you have in your inventory are used pretty quick in order to progress in the game. I also like the match pairs game you can do if you don't want to complete the HO scenes. Overall, not too bad of a game. The loading between scenes is annoying at first, but seems to get better as the game goes on, or you just get used to it.
Well, I guess I won't be able to purchase any Eipix games anymore, as this seems like the norm now. I can't stand games with panning screens, and I have complained about it before, and I will again. Pan down, get stitch ripper, pan up, cut seam, pan down get this, pan up, do this. Pan right, left, etc. My eyes really don't like this, so for that reason, I won't be purchasing any games with panning screens. Also, the background music was horrid, and had to mute it.
Another game where there is too much screen panning. Go left, look up, go right, etc. I have seen this in a lot of games lately, and for this reason I don't buy them, as this is really bothersome on the eyes after playing for awhile. Not sure what this adds to the game, but I wish the screen movement was like it used to be. Just jump to the next screen or scene without panning. Otherwise it might have been not too bad of a game, but for this reason, it won't be a purchase for me.
I have all the MCF games, and loved most of them, but this one had no wow factor at all. It just seemed like a cookie cutter type of game that is like all the other games that have come out recently. The HO scenes were really boring, and story just didn't cut it for me.
