**********I tried not to, but may contain spoilers***********
The SE portion of this game took me: 6 hrs. 30 min.
CE bonus play took me: 1 hr. 30 min.
Total gameplay: 8 hours
I had the stopwatch from my phone on. I play on custom and complete all HOS and I try all the mini games but will skip if I get annoyed.
INTERESTING INFO I FOUND ON THIS GAME: This game has a cool blog here at BFG- To see it click “community” upper right of BFG screen. Then click “blog”. Under the search icon type in Harrowed Halls Lakeview Lane: See blog: “Behind the Curtain- Lakeview Lane”. These developers were SO passionate about this game I cringed reading the not so great reviews. It must be so disparaging for them knowing the level of excitement for its release and so much time, effort and devotion goes into a game. It prompted me to take the time and submit this review. It took me a long time to write it, but purely for the love of this site. This is a long game. In my experience I have NEVER seen a game with this many minigames! For those of you that like puzzles, this is the game for you. Thankfully for me, they can be skipped. Most of them are dexterity and IQ/logic based but some of them really were innovative and fun.
THE THINGS I LOVED:
The cell phone & using the apps. It was like opening my own cell phone with all its ghost find apps. Each one is different throughout the game and all of them were fun. Each chapter had a minigame with popup-like figures that would explain the story further.
I loved the creeper standing in the corner of chapter 3 sewing room. Wow, whoever owned this task, nailed the fear factor. Good job!
FUNNY HAPPENINGS:
There is a mini game in Chapter 3, see how Michael is DOUBLE the size of his horse and he is almost as tall as the barn. In Chapter 4 a newspaper article tells us Elizabeth became obsessed with cleanliness because she got a “spot” on her dress. The picture of Elizabeth shows not only a spot but more like a huge splash that reminded me of Steven Kings, Carrie at her prom. Then I find a plumbing pipe valve LOCKED IN HER DIARY. So funny. In Chapter 6 one of our “peeps” falls in a pond and she is flailing to me for help but I would way rather tinker with dexterity puzzles then help her. It was at least 50 min. of play before I toss her a line. Thankfully, she was happy and dry even when she handed me the object. So glad she didn't drop it when she was drowning.
I chuckled thinking of GRANNY_GRUFF, a reviewer here that would really laugh at these things considering all the reviews where she mentions inconsistencies in these games. I agree. I’m with you there Granny_gruff!
BONUS CONTENT TABS & HOW THEY UNLOCK:
1. ABOUT BONUS PLAY: It took me 1 ½ hour to complete. To give you an idea how long it is via the strat. guide provided… The demo was 13 pages and the bonus Chapter was 11 ½ pages long.
Bonus was my favorite chapter. It ties in the beginning of the demo perfectly. It has 25 more mini games and 3 more HOS. You play 10 areas….1 is revised, 1 is old and 8 of the areas are BRAND NEW!
2. DEVELOPERS DIARY. These were just some random pictures of the Daily Magic team- each in a scene they created from the game. MCF Shadow Lake had a better 5 min. behind the scenes video of team. We want to know you, DEV…You are like stars to us… next time, video please!
3. WALLPAPERS: Initially the game has 11.You end up with 17 after the 6 Jigsaw Puzzles are complete. The first 11 CAN NOT BE OPENED UNTIL AFTER BONUS PLAY, can you believe.
4. PUZZLE: With gameplay, you collect the jigsaw pieces and put together 6 more wallpapers. 17 wallpapers total. Bummer they weren’t Screensavers. Beginning Chapter 3 you have collected enough puzzle pieces to put the first one together and set your 1st wallpaper. All the other wallpapers are still locked at this point.
5. COLLECTION PAGE: The collection page was cool. Phantom images appear in mirrors…like in the Achievements of Grim Tales: The Heir. Very few and far between, you will find a picture that goes on a 3d rock wall.
6. ACHIEVEMENT PAGE: Nothing special. There were some weird ones to earn but generally I don’t play for these.
7. WALKTHROUGH GUIDE: Is 71 pages. It is broken up into different “sinner” storylines who have lived in this house. There are 7 chapters and the 8th is bonus.
8. MUSIC: There are 4 music tracks that unlock AFTER THE BONUS PLAY. You can save them to the doc. file. I liked the games main theme and did save that one. Chapter 6 starts with a gorgeous tune that is not downloadable. I even stopped the game to check. I would have saved it but it was not one of the 4 songs offered.
A NOTE TO DEVELOPERS…. Just take to heart…and READ THE REVIEWS here to see what the actual people that buy and buy the games are suggesting. Daily, if you read the game reviews these same people are offering advice you should listen to. It will help your sales I think and make the games better. There are “regulars” reviewing and what they say is really valid. Most of us have been members for years and years here. In fact, being a BETA TESTER myself, I’d think these reviews would be even more helpful to you….as more people are commenting.
I hope I speak for all of us that review a lot that we are genuinely HUGE fans of this site and Big Fish games. We spend hours at it and see what ALL the developers are bringing to the table. These same people will clue you in on where a game may go wrong. One of the biggest gripes reviewers seem to have is when a game is lacking a good diary/journal that really holds the story. I would rather have that then 1/2 of the dexterity, logic type MG. The characters need to be finished off and fleshed out. It’s best when they speak from within the scene. We don’t want morphs in the HOS but most of us love morphs and collectibles in the main scene. Fantasy based stories such as flying nuns, queens, imps and monsters need to be scrapped! I give 2016 the award for “fantasy” based games that have weird tentacles & monsters. I just can't stand when weird places & things happen in one of these games. There are ghosts in this game & ghosts are great :)
***Here are some things that I felt could have been improved on in this game, hopefully for the 2nd installment in this series:
~NEVER EVER REPEAT A ROOM YOU PLAYED IN BEFORE. in LATER CHAPTERS OF THE GAME. It feels like cutting corners and we see it a few times in this game. When we buy a game we can’t see what happens after the demo so even slightly revising a room isn’t cool. From what I’ve seen in reviews, the repeated HOS an issue…and the more of us that see repeated playing areas won’t go over well.
~NEED TO UNLOCK CE CONTENT UP FRONT: Please Developers; If we are spending double to get the CE content, we should never have to wait to end the SE play, or any play to get the goodies!
***THE MINIGAMES IN THE BONUS*** ARE NOT***THE ONES FROM THE MAIN GAME: In fact, none of the 10 was anywhere within the game. What these 10 games are is directing a ball down a ramp; repeated in a slightly different way TEN times. It was very deceptive.
~NEEDS BETTER GRAPHICS. I prefer more computer gen., crisp clear graphics. I'd love if it’s possible to make the games main size, when in windowed mode is 24”, and not 16". I also like deep rich color that stays away from aqua and blurple. Those green windows on the house gave the game a hokey feel. The best graphics I’ve seen to date are in Midnight Mysteries series, especially Houdini, and FRIGHT, with its awesome live actors.
~A BETTER JOURNAL/DIARY. This game has SO many characters. Practically each chapter has a different story line and each one is REALLY involved. I could never figure out who is who….or how they related. There is a helpful storyline “wheel” that helped, but even after I studied it, it just wasn’t enough. Next installment they need to spend more time on a diary and remove at least HALF of the minigames in this game, if they need to meet a deadline.
~WAY TOO MANY MG IN THIS GAME: For some reason some of the developers think we big fish gamers actually prefer dexterity puzzles over addition hidden object scenes.
~NO SILHOUETTES in the HOS they are frustrating to find, especially in a game with graphics that are more hand drawn.
~DON’T REPEAT HOS: Can you believe, all the HOS, REPEAT in this game! There are only 1/4 HOS here then MG, if that. This title is listed under genre: Hidden Object Game. Why would you ever repeat HOS?
At the beginning of chapter 3 you have to replay a scene from a “hunting lodge”. It has unpleasant things hanging in the fire place. Being an avid animal lover I struggled through the scene a second time.
CUTE ANIMALS A HIT…. & A HUNTING LODGE, AND ONES THAT ARE STUFFED OR NOT LIVE ANYMORE IS A FAIL. The funny thing is, people “lying or dying” around doesn’t seem to bother the bulk of us. Most, if not all casual gamers, love to see happy animals.
~NEED TO HAVE REPLAY OF CUTSCENES. Cut scene replay is really needed considering the detailed, convoluted storyline and shear number of characters.
COLLECTABLES & THEIR ULTIMATE PURPOSE:
1. 6 jigsaw puzzles unlock in CE version that ultimately can be put together and turned to wallpaper. They unlock as you proceed through the game.
2. Pictures. There are very few of these in the game but they are cool to see as they morph images of creepers up on a stone wall. So fun to see the new ones apply.
IF YOU LIKED THIS GAME-I FEEL THESE ARE SIMILAR here at BFG: Try em’ out!
1. Haunted Hotel #10: The X
2. Haunted Hotel #11: The Axiom
3. Phantasmat:#6 Town of Lost Hope
4. Sable Maze#4: 12 fears…. is the most like this game
Huge hugs, to BFG and Daily Magic. To all of you that were so excited to release this game, I am one fan strongly behind you! So sorry for the criticism but I want the next one to be even better. Good luck on the endeavor of this games 2nd chapter…. I can’t wait for it!
I recommend this game!

BASED ON COMPLETED DEMO
I fully agree with Penmom36's perfect review of this game.
I too, love the morphs but HATE the morphs in the HOS! Please put them back in main play.
I missed EVERY morph in the demo....I had no idea they were in the HOS. Wish I'd read the other reviews before playing.
This developer is a FORCE to be reckoned with!

I loved the first Beyond, which was off the hook, and this one has a terrific story. The rollercoaster cut scenes were amazing... too bad you can't replay them in bonus content.
I hate to nitpick but I am not a fan of these graphics either.
Imagine, if this game had the same graphics as the game FRIGHT? With the live actors? Yikes! Break the bank!
At least they were more colorful then Maze 2 & Shadowplay. But I feel like a bunch of us die hard casual gamers that buy and buy these games will probably have a larger monitor to play them on. I for one, bought a larger monitor to see HOS better years ago. This game in its windowed, original, state, is designed to fit a 16" screen, larger than a lot but....graphics still degrade on a 24" monitor.

Thankfully, MHG has a great options selection where you can turn off the annoying game "miss-click", and pickup sounds. Most the DEV don't use a sound to pick up and "oops your wrong sound". Wish they would dump those altogether. In Rite of Passage + their earlier games it was a buzz-musical sound, now it’s a finger click noise that is just so annoying. I was able to adjust that in options and fix the aspect ratio which clears graphics a pinch, but they still stretch out to fill a larger monitor.
Most of the bonus content tabs showed VERY little of what they are giving you. Most were locked until the game is purchased & played. I just wasn't wowed enough by the bonus content to buy the CE version but I'll definitely buy the SE once released.
GRRR. When we buy the CE we want the goodies up front! Why are they locked until after the end of the game, when it's time to uninstall it?
If it had a screensaver jigsaw....Or better yet just a screensaver, up front....I actually would have bought this CE too. They need to lose the Jigsaw idea...We saw that in Maze Broken Tower and it was a boring puzzle that didn't convert to a screensaver OR a wallpaper.
I bought and completed -Beyond: Light Advent CE and to this day it is one of the most creative games I have EVER played!!
I think both Beyond games will appeal to kids & adults alike.
This developer is consistently thinking outside the box with ideas that WORK!
I recommend this game!

BASED ON PLAYING TO LEVEL 5 OF DEMO
I reviewed the game on what I was ABLE to play of it.
I can't believe more people didn't complain about the "tools" in this game. I adore match 3 games and LOVED the unique and clear graphics of this game so I was so excited when I started it.
I LOVED this game. UNTIL......
THE ROTATE TOOL. GRRRRRRRR. Really??
I am so embarrassed to admit I had to go to the forums, and other reviews, to figure out how to drag that spin to the right point.
Level 5, I did figure it out and did it 4 times but kept getting stuck. I realized I was swearing a lot and clearly NOT having fun.
I do see where the developer was trying to make this game different and more challenging but it was just poorly executed and not fun at all.
NOTE TO DEVELOPERS:
I fully agree with the many reviewers that complained of the progressive, tutorial that halted you with ever step to progress... But that should have been a "clue in" that the game was not going to be easily possible if you needed a tutorial that is SO involved and outright annoying.
Once you fix these glitches, and REMOVE these pathetically hard to utilize tools, that I will be the very first person standing in line to buy the next installment!
The best match 3 SE I've ever seen, after years and years of constant play, is one that converts to a screensaver that saves to the computer and reminds the buyer how MUCH they loved this match 3. That same match 3 even had a camera to save portions of the game to save as wallpapers. They even had a feature where you can email pics from the game to friends. This feature helps buyers to buy the next installment, sight unseen.
You need more, and larger, popping bang noises and sparkle, or electrical explosions too.
Of course this is only my opinion, though I have seen all the developers are offering so I hope you'll take my humble criticism.
I don't recommend this game.

*********Tried not to but, MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*******
This installment of Grim Tales took me around 3.5 hours give or take.
I did not buy the CE and up until now, I had bought and played all of the titles to Grim Tales as CE. I didn’t see this one had a screensaver in the demo so I didn’t buy the CE.
This installment is shorter than the others. It was a good game in whole, but I felt it wasn’t the best in this series.
MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR ME TO TELL YOU:
Chapter 2 has a cute mini game where you sew sails for a toy ship. There is also a hidden object scene in Chap 2 I loved, in the Study; each item is made of 2 other items to find and apply. In Chapter 3, just before you enter the building… has a neon sign ELEPHANT GAMES. And you meet up with an electrician who had an ID card, Elephant games is also listed there. These little touches were adorable. Chap 3, once in Howard’s apartment; there is a hidden object scene of inside his refrigerator that is just gross. I would tell you why but this review probably won’t get posted. I’ve stated before, I wish the DEV were more sensitive to the fact this is a casual game and most people don’t want to see the gross things in his fridge. It was unnecessary.
Like all of the Grim Tales games since Color of Fright, the game is set up with Aunt Gray’s evidence which is set up as tabs on the right side of screen. You can re-watch all the cut scenes here, as if it was a CE and it really helps with a story brush up reminder.
Chapter 4 has a really great “super puzzle” mini game that requires several steps.
Chapter 5 Anna goes way back to a chapter called “the town”. It reminded me of the late 1600’s. This entire level was well done.
FAVORITE SPOT IN GAME IS:
End of Chapter 2 into Chapter 3 there is a VHS tape you put in a tv. When you do, it plays this great cut scene that is very dramatic.
When you enter Howard’s building in Chapter 3 there is one of the best mini games I have ever played. It involves several rooms to complete and has a beautiful, but angry, dog and an adorable cat. As you enter Howard’s apartment, though, the game gets much darker and took a turn for the worse for me.
It was awesome though, when we finally get in to Howard’s attic. It is SUPER SPOOKY! I was actually unnerved a bit. It reminded me of how well this was done in Grim Tales Color of Fright when you see the little girl in corner during the rendition pertaining to the school for GT Bloody Mary “memory”. Both of these moments, in this series….SCARY! Scary good.
HINT, DIARY, GRAPHICS, VOICE ACTORS, & MUSIC-
The hint was a helpful step x step with a portal jump. I used it a lot as there is a lot of jumping in this game and trying to remember where items go is too convoluted without it. The graphics are typical Elephant Games. Also typical for this DEV the voice actors and music were both perfect. There is a great diary that keeps you informed of the story as the game proceeds. It is worth the time to stop and read it every level.
IF YOU LIKED THIS GAME HERE ARE SOME OTHERS LIKE IT YOU MAY ALSO LIKE:
Obviously, the rest of the Grim Tales series. Be sure to play the other Grim Tales IN ORDER…. each one mentions the last one in some way.
I highly recommend ALL the games in this series. So far Grim Tales: The Wishes is my favorite.
I have completed up to game 9 at the date of this review 11-16-16.
I have played all of this series through, each game to the end, and only own 1 or 2 SE (this being one- because it didn’t have a screensaver.) Usually, I did buy the CE version of this title.
The best Collector’s Edition in this series is Grim Tales: Bloody Mary. The screen saver alone was worth the purchase for me. It has a swan floating in a gorgeous garden pond in different shades of pink.
1. Fear 4 Sale #8: House on Black River
2. Mystery Tales: Her own Eyes
3. Grim Tales 9: The final suspect is the game most like #8- this one. The character Jackie is in both and I really loved this character, she is so pretty!
Many thanks to Big Fish Games!
And to Elephant Games… I absolutely ADORE you. This long-time BFG fan NOTICES every little detail you have in your games that some of the other developers will either not have, or only put in the demo. Thank you!

******************MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*******************
The SE version doesn’t have all the collectibles or bonus play but I’ve included details for CE content in case you are on the fence to upgrade to the CE of this game.
The SE portion of the game took me 4 hours & 30 minutes
The CE bonus play took me, 1hr 20min
Total gameplay 5 hr. 50min
It may be faster for some, as I do try to do most of the mini games and all the HOS without hint. I play on custom mode.
I love the paranormal, spooky games and this is a perfect one to play this time of year. I can’t say the locations WHERE I was playing were all that fun to be in but the thought that went into this made the gameplay innovative and fun. I preferred Maze Subject 360, though.
IF YOU LIKED THIS GAME TRY THESE:
1. Maze: Subject360
2. True Fear: Forsaken Souls
3. Brink of Consciousness Dorian Grey, but older.
4. F.A.C.E.S is also a great game, also an older game.
WHAT YOU COLLECT & ITS ULTIMATE PURPOSE:
1. Spiral symbols in the main scene: These have their own page and you can go back and collect the ones you missed.
2. Faces morph in the HOS. I really don’t like the morphs in the HOS and usually forget to even look for them there. I prefer when morphs are in the main scenes instead.

Both these collectibles continue in the bonus chapter of the CE. There didn’t seem to be any reward for collecting.
FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THIS GAME:
This game has a journal that holds the amount of time played. It holds a very limited amount of information though and doesn’t help you remember story much.
Some of the HOS were the narrated sentence with highlighted word type. The narration was perfect and I loved all of these throughout the game. The SE has a great ending that stands on its own without needing the CE bonus play. The voice actors were perfect and the whole game is very suspenseful. I'd say the demo was my favorite play during this game.
GRAPHICS- I was not a fan of these graphics. I prefer crisp, clear scenes over the hand drawn type.
I found all areas in this game to be muted, blurry at times and just plain boring to enter new areas. Maze Subject 360 did have better areas of play than this game, especially at its end. What saved the graphics was the game play is just SO good. Geez, if only we could see computer gen graphics from Mad Head because things aren’t always as scary as they could be if they are drawn in a cartoon like environment.
I usually play these games on a large monitor and if the games ratio is usually designed to fit a 17 inch monitor normally, then you tend to see the image degrade on a larger monitor.
DEVICE SPECIAL TO THIS GAME: Were the night vision goggles. When they were needed, the whole scene would turn green as you searched for items in the dark. These NV goggles are not used in the bonus play of the CE. In the CE bonus a bottle of pills is used instead, and you pop pills if you start seeing weird happenings.
ABOUT BONUS PLAY in the CE version of this game: You are a nurse at a military camp where soldiers are being “tested” for the Sara project we see in the SE portion of the game. A young Sara and her corrupt brother are also there.
I’m not even sure why but I got bored playing the bonus. Truthfully, I just wanted the game to end so I could start playing another.
Bonus did play similar to the SE portion of the game which I thought was good but not great. During the demo of the SE I was on the edge of my seat but the suspense wore off for me the more I played. I think it was playing in so many dismal areas, during the whole of the game that just did me in. I did not have this feeling during Maze Subject 360.
YOU ONLY PLAY IN 6 AREAS IN CE BONUS PLAY BUT THEY ARE ALL BRAND NEW. I counted 6 more mini games and 4 new hidden object scenes. All these areas are all in inside rooms except one. By sixth area I questioned myself if it was a new room or not. Many of these inside locations looked alike.
THE CE BONUS CONTENT TABS INCLUDE: 16 wallpapers that save to doc file. In the CE 4 of the wallpapers remained locked until bonus complete, 8 dl music tracks/personally I was not a fan of any of the music and didn’t save any, bonus play, and 45 page walkthrough guide that includes 4 chapters and a bonus chapter, achievement page, collectible page that shows the spirals, replay the 18 hidden object scenes.
Sadly, neither the mini games nor the cut scenes can be replayed. I always re-watch the cut scenes to refresh the story so I was sad you couldn’t with this game, and the journal wasn’t much help either.
Jigsaw puzzle: remains locked still after SE. It unlocks after you play to the end of bonus. It took me 4 minutes to complete this boring -and homely puzzle. I was crossing my fingers it would turn into a screensaver, but it did NOTHING other than putting pieces of a picture together.
A bonus hidden object scene unlocks after the bonus too. It has A LOT of words and you get to use the night vision goggles during a portion of it. I really liked this HOS.
CE has a 45pg, in game, STRATEGY GUIDE-
To give you an idea of how long the bonus play is, Chap. 1 was 8 pgs., Chap. 2 was 7 pgs. /demo assumed is 15 pages & bonus chapter 8 pgs. So the bonus play is shorter than the demo. I know with the jump maps that many people don’t use the WTG any more, but I am actually one that uses it with every game.
Thank you to BFG and to all the time and effort put in by Mad Head Games! I am such a huge fan.
I recommend this game!

Since I’ve been playing match 3 games for years, I can say with confidence this is one of my favorite Halloween games of all time.
Your ultimate goal is to make matches to obtain money to buy Halloween decorations for your Haunted House. This game progressively gets harder with each level and prepare to spend some time at it as it is SO addictive you may even forget regular life for a bit!
I feel the only thing this game would have needed to make it perfect is to let us set the Haunted House scene we are decorating to save as a Screensaver, or at the very least wallpaper.
I’ve listed some other Halloween match 3 games that are super similar to this one that I think you will like equally:
1. Queen’s Garden: Halloween
~in this M3 you decorate a garden instead. You can change the scene from night to day to watch your little costumed trick or treaters walk the paths of your garden.
2. Jewel Match: Twilight
~You get wallpapers in the SE and decorate a scene for Halloween.
3. Spooky Bonus
~Spooky Bonus also gives you wallpapers with the SE! You also decorate a haunted house for Halloween in that game.
If you like Hidden Object games also try this little jewel of a game made in 2013. It is not normally under a Halloween search.
4. Shadows: Price of our sins
Thank you BFG, and the Developers. Please give us more like this!
I recommend this game!

If you like match 3 games they just don't get much better than this.
What sets this one ABOVE most:
1. The haunted house you decorate: Your goal is to match and you obtain money and coins to buy Halloween decorations for your haunted house. The best thing is EVERY level of this game offers you a new item.
2. WALLPAPERS! This SE game actually gives you CE content for the same price. You can "set" the background of the M3 grid you are playing after a certain amount of play. By 12 spots of play in, you are offered 3 different ones plus the house you are decorating can be set.
I love this genre and have played every demo of the match 3's offered here for years, by all the developers.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE OTHER MATCH 3 HALLOWEEN GAMES. IF YOU LIKE THIS ONE TRY:
1. Save Halloween City of Witches
~~it is exactly like Spooky bonus except you don't get any wallpapers.
2. Queen's Garden: Halloween
~~You decorate a garden in this one and little trick or treaters walk the paths lit for night OR day.
3. Jewel Match: Twilight
~~You also get wallpapers in the SE here & decorate a scene for Halloween.
And if you like Halloween Hidden Object games:
Try this little jewel made in 2013-
Shadows: Price of our sins
To clarify graphics - as this is a 2013 game: Make sure to go into options first and change settings so there are black bars on either side. I believe you need to uncheck the widescreen box.
Thank you BFG!
I recommend this game!

This is a really cute match 3 that gets harder with each level.
The special thing with this game are the jars containing different "spells" you need to make matches under and drop to the bottom of the board. Then the spell becomes available to use on the board.
I liked the sound effects but I thought it had a LOT of reading and almost too much storyline for a match 3. I was quickly skipping the characters talking as much as clearing the board it felt.
The icons were repeated level after level so it would have been nice to mix it up a little more. I'm not sure if it was the size and color of the icons but they weren't as easy to locate for quick matching for me.
All in all it was a cute game that was good not great. I prefer the match 3 games where you get currency for matching and can build something related to the theme of the game.
Try these other Halloween match 3 games that are also really good.
1. Queen's Garden: Halloween- In this game there is a
garden area you decorate for Halloween and it has night
and day to see the little trick or treaters walking through it.
2. Save Halloween: City of Witches
3. Jewell Match: Twilight
I recommend this game!

The SE portion of the game took me 4 hours & 30 minutes
The bonus play took me, 1hr 20min

Geez, if only we could see computer gen. graphics from Mad Head because things aren’t always as scary as they could be if they are drawn in a cartoon like environment.
I thought it was a time because I was crossing my fingers it would turn into a screensaver, but it did NOTHING other than putting pieces of a picture together.

This is the review I did for the CE version of this game. For anyone on the fence to get the CE with the extra content, here are details.
****************MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*******************
*note to anyone who doesn’t know this…. be sure to always change the “sort by” method on this page to see the NEWEST people, as those are usually the ones that have actually finished the game and not just the demo…. Also. If you “mouse over” & click on the Big-fisher’s username- in blue- you can see their other reviews.
The SE portion of the game took me 4 hours & 50 minutes
The bonus play took me, 1hr 40min
Total gameplay 6 hr. 20min
I actually used the stop watch on my cell phone whenever I was playing this. I do tend to try and do all the puzzles --although I am NOT a mini game fan, unless they are unusual. I will skip them the second I’m annoyed. I do all the HOS without hints & with penalty. I play on “custom” mode. This game has EASY/HARD mode for all the mini games, which is a HUGE plus for me on this game. So I’m telling you how I play because it may be faster for some.
The graphics and scenery, throughout the game are positively OUTSTANDING. Another thing I loved about the gameplay, you don't carry items all that long so you remember where they go. I love how it only takes a moment to look over the scene to see where an item should be placed, WITHOUT opening the secondary window. There are MORPHS to locate in each new scene, which I always see as a plus. It has many different types of hidden object scenes to cater to all of us.
Though I am not a huge fan of the standard type of mini games, this one has some great ones. The voice overs were good, the special effects didn’t wash out the scene and each new page.
IF YOU LIKED THIS GAME TRY THESE:
1. Mystery Tales Her own eyes. Gameplay is identical to this.
2. Whispered Secrets: Ever burning Candle is also very similar. It also has a burning witch.

I preferred MT #4 better because I liked the story better. I liked this story too, as I live a town over from Salem, MASS where in 1692 there were witch hangings. So I did like the basic story and learning the history of the European witches, but I’m not a huge fan of characters that fly such as witches, queens etc.
I absolutely HATE fantasy games and we have seen a lot of those in 2016.  Because this game had the paranormal flare it was refreshing to play a game where I’m mostly “grounded”.
WHAT YOU COLLECT & ITS ULTIMATE PURPOSE:
1. 36 Tarot cards can be found in the zoom windows. When they are all collected a mini game unlocks with multi-level matching and it was really fun.
2. Witches spells- pieces of white paper can be found in the main scenes and go into a book. Each one you collect has a small description of something a witch used or liked based on historical data.
3. 15 morphing Torture items- These were rather large and easy to locate and are scattered in only some scenes. There is a page devoted to them and it also gives true historical detail of how these items were used on the accused. It is scary and sad what people did to each other back then.
I preferred the collectables in Mystery Tales Her own eyes.
FAVORITE AREAS IN THIS GAME ARE - Chapter 3 starts with an adorable Jack Russell Terrier. Chap. 3 pg. 17 of WTG has a great billiards game which I’ve never seen before and it was a blast. Bummer that those MG can’t be replayed in the bonus content.

There is a Ouija board poking out from under the bed in Amelie’s room, so I think we know why her eyes a glowing. Chap. 3 pg. 19 had a mini game using spools of thread you use to color a picture. And Chap.3 also had a MG with a computer where you use UV light & password that was innovative. Chapter 4 starts with a gorgeous outdoor scene called Harbor. The area called Haunted Lake is equally beautiful. Chapter 5 starts at Madeline’s house and again I was just wowed with the graphics, lighting & scenery.
My very favorite part is in chapter 5 you get to play as a raven flying over the land in 3d. Incredible. Chapter 5 into 6 has a similar spot. In this MG, you create a broom then fly over the land via a cut scene. Chapter 6 also has a HOS that I’ve never seen before. They used 3 colored candles and you found the objects via color. This HOS was so pretty BECAUSE of these vibrant crisp graphics.
NARRATED STORYBOOK TYPE GAMES. The demo has a great one where you locate three highlighted words. There are 3 pages of this that gives more background and depth to the story of the witches. The narration is perfect.
GRAPHICS- These graphics deserve their own title. Domini pays such close attention to detail such as what you see in the background of a scene. Another huge developer here will often use what looks like concept art in the background which I just can’t stand. It feels like they don’t have enough time to complete a scene. But Domini has this nailed and these artists also use perspective right. I prefer clear crisp scenes without so many filters you can’t find an object. I also prefer more computerized over hand drawn graphics. The color here is pure and bright.
MAP & HINT- Many of the portal maps we see are just quick sketches. This map is a work of art by itself. I for one, notice these details that take more time to perfect a game. It is also a helpful portal jump, tasked map and a walkthrough guide is really not necessary for the SE.
Hint does not have portal jump but it is a helpful step by step and will redirect you to the task map if your lost.
DEVICE SPECIAL TO THIS GAME: are the “glasses” that alter the visual in a location and show our main characters spin on what happened in a location that can’t be seen, and in the past. We used them first in MT Her own eyes, and I liked using them equally here.
ABOUT BONUS PLAY: The SE stands on its own from bonus play. The bonus story is only somewhat related. There is dark magic in the city and my psychic glasses are still needed for this mission. You get to use the glasses 6 more times in bonus play. You have to stop three witches and prevent the black death from spreading.
YOU PLAY 11 BRAND NEW AREAS IN BONUS. There were 11 more mini games, which I played them all except 2. I so wish they would give us double the amount of HOS in a hidden object game. You CONTIUE collecting items at the end of the SE and in the bonus play.
THE CE BONUS CONTENT TABS INCLUDE: 14 wallpapers that save to doc file. 15 concept art with logo, 5 dl music tracks, bonus play, and a 64 page, in game walkthrough guide that includes 6 chapters and a bonus chapter, Achievements, torture chamber, tarot cards, witch book., and 13 Concept art that also has logo & saves to doc file.
Sadly, neither the match 3, nor the cut scenes can be replayed. I always re-watch the cut scenes to refresh the story.
STRATEGY GUIDE
There is an in game 64pg walkthrough guide. To give you an idea of how long the bonus play is, the Demo is 12 pages long & bonus chapter 13PGS. So the bonus play is longer than the demo. I know with the jump maps that many people don’t use the WTG any more, but I am actually one that uses it with every game.
Huge hugs to all of you at Big Fish, and Domini Games that created this great game!! I am one of your biggest fans. I don’t know WHAT I’d do if Domini included a screensaver with their games because I usually will by a CE that has one. I’d probably go broke! You make em’ and I’ll keep buying! Thank you so much!!
I recommend this game!
