I really disliked the story in The Devil's Tower. I didn't relate to the land, or the characters at all (or even the dialog). I was actually skipping text towards the end of the demo which I never do. It seems the longer I play these games, the more important the story is for me.
I've seen a lot a stories in these games, lately, that are just so "out there". Over and over we see tentacles, vines, fantasy creatures in games out of the fantasy genre. I remember being so excited to see the Easter Island release (which I did buy...but haven't fully played yet), but at the end of that demo it got really weird and I had no idea it would be continued into The Devil's Tower. I thought it would be more of an adventure game and never really viewed the Labyrinths series as the pure fantasy genre.
Here are some of my favorite stories I've seen so far at BFG over the years. I hope it helps if the developer is stuck maybe, with a story.
1. The Reincarnation series. You play different levels as little mini stories (per chapter) where you are reincarnated to different lives to save a person. The first game you play as a dog in love. 2. Mysteries of the mind: Coma. Same idea but you save people while in an altered state of awareness each chapter.
3. Paranormal Pursuit: The gifted one- A little boy has telekinetic powers. 4. Redemption Cemetery #1 Curse of the Raven- You go back to an event each chapter is a new person to save, where someone ends up a plot in a cemetery and your job is to change the circumstances so they will all live instead.
5. Time Mysteries: Inheritance (time travel games are fun) and that's probably why I loved Labyrinths Changing the Past so much.
Most of those games I just listed are older than 2014, so if only they were revamped or had similar storylines.... Those are games I'd love to see have a fresh spin on with the task maps, etc. I hope it helps!
I really disliked the story in Vengeful Beauty. I hope this series doesn't continue the way of vines and fantasy monsters attacking. I prefer fantasy creatures to stay in fantasy games and paranormal games like the DD series to stick to its own genre.
I own all the DD in this series up until now, and most of the titles I have as CE. Of the games I've completed so far, Wax Beauty and City of Ash are my favorites in this series.
Another reviewer mentioned how much better the cut scenes and stories were in days long past, and I have to agree.
DD Vengeful Beauty has very similar vines to DD The Homecoming; the story was better there though. I'm a huge animal lover & I loved the husky in the Homecoming, so I overlooked my hatred of vines. In this demo though, a crow and a raccoon are both attacked by the vines and I found myself grumbling.

I actually REALLY liked how the DEV chose to play this game outside, for the most part, and in beautiful national park like areas. The waterfalls were so pretty and I gave this title a higher rating because of the locations.
All in all... I'm glad I own The Dark Dimension series. I don't like leaving bad reviews and usually only review completed games I loved. I'll usually only review a demo if I dislike the path the series is headed.
Its sad to see a strong series like this get caught in there own snarled purple vines.

Changing the Past is my favorite of this series so far. I purchased the last one, Easter Island, but as an SE because I really disliked the rock monster man.
I don't mind Sci fi games; I loved "Beyond, Light Advent". But this story was just SO out there, I found I didn't care about the characters. The actual scenery was really pretty and like all the other Domini games, game play is really fun. Sadly, this is the first one in a LONG time, by them I won't be buying. I liked that it was daytime at the beginning, but the game turned dark for the rest of the demo. I like when they mix up the time of day in a game so you aren't inundated with all one color. I usually only rate games I've completed unless I really don't want to see a game series continue on its current path.
I really, really, hated this storyline and the weird monster creatures. I was so bummed out to see the last storyline continued here. The story really does matter to the games I'm buying and which ones end up on my favorite list.
I played Wedding Salon 1 (twice) and this one back to back. Since I'm a major fan of this type of TM I didn't think it was too fast paced at all. As you progress, this game has THREE areas to decorate with gold you accumulate per level; a kitchen, back yard, and bedroom.
This game is broken into 10 different salons in different countries. Each of these salons is broken down into 9 levels. 90 levels to end this game. 1. England 2. France 3. India 4. Bali (is gorgeous, my favorite. it has blue-green water and a running waterfall in the salon) 5. Italy 6. Russia 7.Greece (also beautiful) 8. Bavaria 9. Africa & 10. Japan. The scenery outside the window reflects what country is being represented.
Aside from normal gameplay that make up the 9 levels per salon, each has 2 percentage levels for gold earning, mini games. In one, you have a camera and need to quickly find and click thumbnail snapshots in the salons scene. The second, you have a line of customers and you do one of the levels mini games over and over quickly. Example, mixing drinks. These levels can be replayed for practice to get faster at normal gameplay.
Once you get into the swing of things, getting gold becomes easy. You can go back to prior levels and replay them from silver to gold or to get MORE gold per level.
It is best to play through whole salon and the ones you don't get gold on the first time, GO BACK, after upgrades for that level and it becomes way easier. Sometimes I would play 3-4 salons this way, only achieving silver on some levels and then go back and replay them for gold. This will also make it so you can upgrade the harder levels, towards the end of the game better, too.
A TRICK FOR GETTING GOLD: Upgrade the front, incoming, waiting chairs and SWEETS first. Pass out the sweets to a large line of people before they pay and check out. The entire trick to winning all gold for Wedding Salon 1 is with the coffee maker. This game doesn’t have one. Also, just as the salon opens bring her up to the incoming customers via the waiting chairs so if the customer has a ??? she will address that quickly.
I completed both games with all gold. There is a reward for doing so, in the backyard area when you decorate. There is a gift box that will open once all gold has been achieved for all levels and IT IS WORTH OPENING! I want to replay it all over again (like the first Wedding Salon) to make different decorating chooses. So the replay level is super high and I will play this one over & over!
You can re-watch the comic cut scenes. A comic at the end of the Japan level leaves it open as to whether or not a Wedding Salon 3 will come out. I hope so!! I will be the FIRST ONE IN LINE TO PURCHASE IT! I have been a member here at BFG since 2010 and playing these game since around 2008 and I’ve tested and bought so many of these I feel secure in saying this is the best time management game I’ve played. I also adore the Delicious series, Childhood Memories & True Love, are the best of that IMO, but it is like comparing apples to oranges.
These other games are huge hits with me and if you like this one try these as they are similar,
1. Bella Design 2. Bloom! Share flowers with the world 3. Jet set Go (its original windowed size is small so best played on a 15” monitor or smaller as the graphics tend to stretch)
Thank you to BFG and Sugar Games for so many hours and hours of fun!
I have no idea why this game is claiming a CE title. I couldn't see any extra content. I would wait a month for when the SE comes out and get that version instead.
I absolutely LOVE Time Management games. Especially ones like this, instead of the ones driven by "tasks around the land".
I have SLE + Fibromyalgia which are both painful and these types of games are just amazing to take you from pain. Your mind is so busy on completing tasks that your brain ignores that you hurt. I figured I'd mention this because it's my main reason for playing, and buying this type of game and it might help others.
This game was great, but as I said, it had some glitches. I buy and play A LOT of the competing TM games and some just have that area worked out a bit more.
If they come out with a second SKY CREW I would just tweak a few things.
~ I always start on relaxed mode and will change that to normal once I learn how to play that particular TM. But this game's relaxed mode is so hard I had to replay level 9 and I swear, my blood pressure was raised after the demo. Ha ha.
~You have to DRAG every item on to a plate first by using the LEFT MOUSE KEY. In most TM of this type, the Right key is also utilized to deliver the food to the people or to refill things and it was NOT used in this game. I really missed that feature.
Since I'm a huge fan of the "Delicious" series- I've acclimated to LEFT "mouse key play" ONLY type of play- but I prefer the games that use the R key to deliver & refill.
~You are required to drag EVERY single item, the toppings even. There is a level where you start putting hot fudge and strawberries on ice cream cones. The cones are too close together so you end up dragging the hot fudge to one cone and by accident put the strawberries on the cone next to it by mistake, as the passenger is hopping mad in their seats.
~You were even dragging the soda into each cup. It should have been 1 click to fill a glass, instead of dragging a cup into place, then dragging the drink into the glass, and dragging the delivery to the passenger. Well you get the idea. Many items I would drag into place wouldn't stay on the plate and it was discouraging. All in all, I will probably buy the SE of Sky Crew when it comes out, it is a fun game and a bit different then most of this type.
These are some of my favorite TM here at BFG; so if you like this game, try these....
1. Jet Set Go… I’ll add a link. 2. Delicious, start with Emily's Childhood Memories (released in 2011) and play the series from then on in order. 3. Bloom! Share flowers with the world 4. Burger Bustle: Ellie’s Organics 5. Chloe’s Dream Resort
I’m so happy when a TM of this type is released. Please make more of these! Thank you!
I recommend this game!

fromI highly recommend ALL the Gardenscape games; especially for die hard hidden object lovers!
This game is for all of us that have been avid gamers for years and years.... because this is a TRUE hidden object game and WOW is it a blast. I think it will appeal to all in the family too. I just replayed this game. I'm half way through it again. I love it so much I just had to stop and review it quickly. It is the type of game in your collection you will want to come back and play again. This game actually came out some time in 7/2011 so the graphics degrade a bit on a larger screen so it is best to play this on a smaller device. The object of it is: You have this dilapidated mansion you upgrade via customers who come to your home and buy the objects in your attic. Each object is worth money which is spent to upgrade your mansion's front hall.
Tips: Look for these items BEFORE actually looking for the customer's objects. 1.Each scene has gold coins that upgrade your spending so collect those in the scene first. 2. Hints. There are 3 types to look for in each scene. A brown question mark, and it may cap at 5. A thermometer comes in various shapes to help you "hot/cold" your way to a hidden object. And a camera, also in different shapes helps you locate the items without any background. 3. Hints are also worth money, so if you don't use any you get bonus cash to upgrade with.
No detail is overlooked that makes this such a perfect game. Such as- your main, male, character owns a little dog, which you get to name. I have 2 mini-bulldogs in real life I call Lily & Herman Munster. So I named this dog Munster. It's a riot when the screensaver is just running and you see the dude throwing a stick to Munster and using his name.
THERE ARE 2 ADORABLE SCREENSAVERS in this SE that change according to how YOU change the details of your room. There are even different commercials that play on your TV that play as he sits and watches it. It has little noises & word bubbles that run...
Wow, those were the days, when you'd get a screensaver with a SE game. It seems to be unheard of in this day and age. Something so simple can really MAKE a game.
Check out these other games that are similar here at BFG:
1. Home makeover / series 2. Farm makeover 3. Farmscapes is similar but match 3 instead of HOS.
If you like how Gardenscapes Mansion Makeover is done, and like match 3 games as well, check out Fishdom: Seasons under the sea. It has several screensavers with the SE that save as the fish tanks you are working on. I'll attach a link via the favorite game link.
DEVELOPERS: Look at the ratings on this series... and the others I've mentioned in this review. They are SO highly rated! Please bring us more series like this!
Thank you, as always to BFG and the Developer for this great game/ and ESPECIALLY the screensavers!!
This game came out in 6-2014 and it was offered as todays buy at 2.99
At first I grumbled and didn't think it was my thing.... So like I always do, I checked the all the reviews to see what the other fish in THIS pond were thinking.
A review by Kristidumplin made me finally decide to give it a download. I agree 100%. This game is an absolute addictive blast. Throughout the game, you will play as 3 different types of fish. First you start out as a goldfish in a bowl. Your owner keeps putting food in even though it says clearly on the label, "Do not overfeed". So being too big for your bowl, you hop into the bathroom plumbing and end up in the public water supply! You eat and eat any fish (or edible) that is smaller than you. Some things can't be eaten and will kill you and sometimes you need to avoid certain species until you are big enough to eat them. Each level, like most games, gets harder and harder, and you will jump for seagulls.... bummer.... another reviewer mentioned being an avid animal lover, like me, but since they are cartoon-like, it softens the blow. Too bad we weren't jumping to snap up bullies instead, right? ha, ha. I really didn't like the music, so I played Pandora instead. He does make cute little sound effects like "yum, yum". Its quite comical and its more of an arcade game and just a fun change from the HOG, Match 3, and Time Management games I usually play that take up so much of my time.
I hope they will clarify the graphics further, as they are good not great if they ever come up with a newer edition of this or a similar game. You really do need to go into "options" first and adjust the graphics to fit your computer.
As soon as the demo ended I purchased the game. I'm so siked I found it late to get this great sale on it!
For anyone wondering how the entire SE plays out or if you are on the fence to buy the CE... This is my new favorite game by Daily Magic. I've listed most of my CE review again on this page. It took me forever to write...but purely for the love of BFG :)
**********I tried not to, but may contain spoilers***********
The SE portion of this game took me: 6 hrs. 30 min. CE bonus play took me: 1 hr. 30 min. Total gameplay: 8 hours I had the stopwatch from my phone on. I play on custom and complete all HOS and I try all the mini games but will skip if I get annoyed.
INTERESTING INFO I FOUND ON THIS GAME: This game has a cool blog here at BFG- To see it click “community” upper right of BFG screen. Then click “blog”. Under the search icon type in Harrowed Halls Lakeview Lane: See blog: “Behind the Curtain- Lakeview Lane”. These developers were SO passionate about this game I cringed reading the not so great reviews. It must be so disparaging for them knowing the level of excitement for its release and so much time, effort and devotion goes into a game. It prompted me to take the time and submit this review. It took me a long time to write it, but purely for the love of this site. This is a long game. In my experience I have NEVER seen a game with this many minigames! For those of you that like puzzles, this is the game for you. Thankfully for me, they can be skipped. Most of them are dexterity and IQ/logic based but some of them really were innovative and fun. THE THINGS I LOVED: The cell phone & using the apps. It was like opening my own cell phone with all its ghost find apps. Each one is different throughout the game and all of them were fun. Each chapter had a minigame with popup-like figures that would explain the story further. I loved the creeper standing in the corner of chapter 3 sewing room. Wow, whoever owned this task, nailed the fear factor. Good job! Chapter 6 had a billiards minigame that is an absolute blast! In CE WTG refer to page 42. The voice actors are superb in this game, especially the baddy that locks the room. Chapter 6, I believe it was, has an amazing HOS that should have been in the demo. You put a floppy disc into a computer that’s in the scene and the files show you 4 other games by Daily Magic with pics to each one. It was just adorable and I loved it! CE BONUS CHAPTER: Was my favorite play in this entire game. That is rare for me too. I adored the storyline and I feel like a lot of thought and effort went into it.
FUNNY HAPPENINGS: There is a mini game in Chapter 3, see how Michael is DOUBLE the size of his horse and he is almost as tall as the barn. In Chapter 4 a newspaper article tells us Elizabeth became obsessed with cleanliness because she got a “spot” on her dress. The picture of Elizabeth shows not only a spot but more like a huge splash that reminded me of Steven Kings, Carrie at her prom. Then I find a plumbing pipe valve LOCKED IN HER DIARY. So funny. In Chapter 6 one of our “peeps” falls in a pond and she is flailing to me for help but I would way rather tinker with dexterity puzzles then help her. It was at least 50 min. of play before I toss her a line. Thankfully, she was happy and dry even when she handed me the object. So glad she didn't drop it when she was drowning. By Chapter 6 I had uncovered, and some were in plain view, many dead bodies to our main character: IF ONLY! You would THINK with the shear amount of dead people hanging around this place they would have smelled it from the driveway, despite the green mist in the windows which they could see! I chuckled when I thought of GRANNY_GRUFF, a reviewer here that would really laugh at these things considering all the reviews where she mentions inconsistencies in these games. I agree. I’m with you there Granny_Gruff!
IN THE CE VERSION : BONUS CONTENT TABS & HOW THEY UNLOCK: 1. ABOUT BONUS PLAY: It took me 1 ½ hour to complete. To give you an idea how long it is via the strat. guide provided… The demo was 13 pages and the bonus Chapter was 11 ½ pages long. Bonus was my favorite chapter. It ties in the beginning of the demo perfectly. It has 25 more mini games and 3 more HOS. You play 10 areas….1 is revised, 1 is old and 8 of the areas are BRAND NEW! I used headphones for this level and it made gameplay even better. 2. DEVELOPERS DIARY. These were just some random pictures of the Daily Magic team- each in a scene they created from the game. MCF Shadow Lake had a better 5 min. behind the scenes video of team. We want to know you, DEV…You are like stars to us… next time, video please! 3. WALLPAPERS: Initially the game has 11.You end up with 17 after the 6 Jigsaw Puzzles are complete. The first 11 CAN NOT BE OPENED UNTIL AFTER BONUS PLAY, can you believe. 4. PUZZLE: With gameplay, you collect the jigsaw pieces and put together 6 more wallpapers. 17 wallpapers total. Bummer they weren’t Screensavers. Beginning Chapter 3 you have collected enough puzzle pieces to put the first one together and set your 1st wallpaper. All the other wallpapers are still locked at this point. 5. COLLECTION PAGE: The collection page was cool. Phantom images appear on a wall…like in the Achievements of Grim Tales: The Heir. Very few and far between, you will find a picture that goes on a 3d rock wall. 6. ACHIEVEMENT PAGE: Nothing special. There were some weird ones to earn but generally I don’t play for these. 7. WALKTHROUGH GUIDE: Is 71 pages. It is broken up into different “sinner” storylines who have lived in this house. There are 7 chapters and the 8th is bonus. 8. MUSIC: There are 4 music tracks that unlock AFTER THE BONUS PLAY. You can save them to the doc. file. I liked the games main theme and did save that one. Chapter 6 starts with a gorgeous tune that is not downloadable. I even stopped the game to check. I would have saved it but it was not one of the 4 songs offered. 9. ***THE MINIGAMES *** ARE NOT***THE ONES FROM THE MAIN GAME: In fact, none of the 10 was anywhere within the game. What these 10 games are is directing a ball down a ramp; repeated in a slightly different way TEN times. It was very deceptive.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: ~You can’t replay the cut scenes. In a game that has such a convoluted story this feature was badly missed. ~You can’t replay any of the hidden object scenes OR any of the in-game MG puzzles. ~There is a diary, but it wasn’t involved enough. They did have a “wheel” that had all the characters on it, but I was still left wondering what year it was and who was who. ~Task list icon: is in the middle of the inventory bar as a green exclamation point. I never use the task list but for those that do, I was almost ¾ ways through the game when I clicked it by mistake and found it.
CE COLLECTABLES & THEIR ULTIMATE PURPOSE: 1. 6 jigsaw puzzles unlock in CE version that ultimately can be put together and turned to wallpaper. They unlock as you proceed through the game. 2. Pictures. There are very few of these in the game but they are cool to see as they morph images of creepers up on a stone wall. So fun to see the new ones apply.
IF YOU LIKED THIS GAME-I FEEL THESE ARE SIMILAR here at BFG: Try em’ out! 1. Haunted Hotel #10: The X 2. Haunted Hotel #11: The Axiom 3. Phantasmat: #6 Town of Lost Hope 4. Mystery Tales #4: Her Own Eyes 5. Sable Maze #4: 12 FEARS…. is the most like this game. I recall leaving a girl to flounder in thewater in that game too, to tinker on puzzles.
Huge hugs, to BFG and Daily Magic. To all of you that were so excited to release this game, I am one fan strongly behind you! Good luck on the endeavor of this games 2nd chapter…. I can’t wait for it!
EVERYTHING works in this game; every single thing.
THIS IS WHAT I THINK SETS IT ASIDE AND MAKES IT BEST:
First thing I should tell you, the tile icons MOVE in this game. It does tend to be distracting so you need to know to go into “options” and there is an adjustable option box to make them stop moving.
1. You have a purpose for matching. There is a scene you collect currency for that you "build" parts into with each level to create a beautiful Halloween scene.
2. This SE offers you WALLPAPERS, even in the demo! As you play additional ones will open. 3. Both the music and the background ambiance is great too.
4. The background scenes are beautiful. The items you match are easy to identify for quick matching due to perfectly clear, computer gen. graphics. I love that this entire game looks less "cartoon like" which can sometimes be too busy in a match 3 game.
5. Shortly into the demo you drop a star to the bottom of the board and it unlocks a bonus area to play that has animation. So much thought and detail went into this game.
6. Bonus games: Side games of Mahjong can be played for additional gold to spend power ups at the in game store can be used to help your progress into further levels. The Mahjong tiles are each decorated for Halloween too, and I’m surprised this isn’t a game to sell all on its own!
I highly recommend ALL the other games in the Jewel Match series; they are all a blast.
With the holidays & winter coming, be sure to try Jewel Match Snowscapes. There is a link to it within this game and it is equally perfect to this game. This Developer makes you feel like major amounts of time, effort and money went into each perfect game. I'll add the link under favorite games to get to the Holiday Snowscapes Jewel match I think you'll also love.
I’VE LISTED MY OTHER FAVORITE HALLOWEEN MATCH 3 GAMES here at BFG:
1. Queen’s Garden: Halloween ~in this M3 you decorate a garden instead. You can change the scene from night to day to watch your little costumed trick or treaters walk the paths of your garden and they stop and look at your decorations.
2. Save Halloween: City of Witches ~A match 3 you decorate a haunted house for Halloween.
3. Spooky Bonus ~Spooky Bonus also gives you wallpapers with the SE! You also decorate a haunted house for Halloween in that game. This game literally sparkles, snaps & pops! Also, if you like Hidden Object games also try this little jewel of a game made in 2013. 4. Shadows: Price of our sins #HOG#
Thank you BFG, and the Developers. Please give us more like this!
