I don't like sea and pirate related games, well I just don't! :P
I prefer creepy stuff like MCF and something with an eerie atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised by this one because it has very beautiful art and a romantic, haunting story. It's not by all means memorable nor is it my favourite but it's still quite enjoyable. I recommend it!
I recommend this game!

I never got to finish this game, and I tried and restarted it many times. It's wonderful. Everything a HOG should be. Clever like the Sherlock books, great atmosphere that draws you in, realistic dialogue, excellent art, great puzzles... but... I can't give it more than 3 stars because of that infamous bug :)
I don't recommend this game.

I feel like this one was one of the first trendsetters that made HOGs truly interactive. It's a large file but that's because it has a lot of new additions most HOGs don't. (Now they're all following suit, but I remember playing this and thinking "Wow, that's refreshing!")
There's loads to do, wonderful plot, very beautiful art and really interactive gameplay (where HOGs can be monotonous). Give this one a try if you're looking for an adventure rather than just hopping from one HOP to another ;)
I recommend this game!

I dont usually like/ play holiday specials but I took a chance on this one and I was pleasantly surprised. Visually breathtaking and with an interesting twist on an old classic, this one was both romantic and adventurous. Plus, it really put me in the mood for Christmas :)

Oh my! What a tragedy! What happened to MCF? It used to be unique from all the other HOGs, I was always excited to play it. But now it seems it has changed hands and became another Russian shovel-ware with a boring recycled plot, sub-par graphics and predictable ending. It's like they didn't even try...
I wish there were more HOGs written by actual writers for once... I'm sick of the atrocious writing and plots... Disappointed.
I don't recommend this game.

There was nothing special about this game, so Im not sure why it got such high reviews.
The plot was boring, the animation awkward and stilted like moving paper dolls, the villains predictable... Just bah.
I liked the bonus chapter a lot better (the puzzles were at least interesting).
I did like the card game; it was fun. The achievement for playing the game in under four hours?... What's that about? Are we supposed to rush through or reply the same game that has the exact same plot without any changes?... Why?..........
I don't recommend this game.

What can I say without filling this review with needlessly detailed information?
It's got great graphics, a step above previous HOGs I'd say.
Tried and true, predictable, storyline.
Good voice acting.
Fun puzzles.
A way to switch to Dominoes during HOGs (my favourite! wish everyone had these now!)
And a bunch of achievements and collections for those OCD collectors among us...
Note: not having a SG really irked me. The elusive objects were difficult to find (which is good) but a SG would have saved a lot of time... I'm not sure why it wasn't included in the CE...
And I hate that you can't get both achievements for playing ALL dominoes or ALL HOGs even if you reply the game (the number doesn't change, so it's as if you only played 11 HOGs/DOMs).
One of the best this month for sure though!
I recommend this game!

I'm a fan of the concept of a 1,000 Doors, but the execution is always lacking.
I played all three and they all bored me. It's such a shame.
I wish the story wasn't convoluted; it's really hard to follow. It has no structure (again with the portal diving! why do writers think this substitues actual plot?) and I took a lot of break during because I was so bored. It seemed too long (which means it wasn't fun).
Sorry, but I wasn't impressed :(
I don't recommend this game.

Maybe because the reviews were so positive my expectations about the game simply couldn't be fulfilled.
It was an okay game and nothing more. It had some variety in terms of HOGs, but that's about it.
The story was so cheesy and convoluted it reminded me of that mushroom age game (they both feel like bad trips). It felt like the story writers just tacked on lame references to fairytales.
Once they cued in the very cheesy singing I was pretty much done taking this game seriously. Not sure why everyone loves it so much...
I don't recommend this game.
