The water's safe. There be no monsters there, just great images with a variety of a few simple ones to ones with lots and lots of details and colors.
As usual, I had to complete Page One before I could see the rest of the images in order to write this review. Man, I am so tired of that restraint that T1 Games forces on us.
On viewing Page One I thought, "Great! A new artist has been assigned to this edition." You see, page one is rife with colors and details.
But no, it's the same artist who, *thank heavens*, is finally getting the idea that serious work is needed to produce a game that we are willing to buy.
We are still given that particular shade of icky white favored by the artist, but fortunately there is only one image that includes a human face to creep us out. When will "Paint By" learn that he/she cannot draw people???
There are only 3 things left for "Paint By" to improve upon:
1. Get somebody else to draw people. 2. Change that icky, dead white to another shade of white. 3. Find a theme. Suggestion: go over to Desktop Nexus to find the most popular wallpapers, then wrap a theme around those types of design.
For those of us who love Paint By, Art By, and Modern Art, try the game, buy the game, ENJOY.

Pennmom liked this but the next 2 reviews went downhill, which only left me one choice: I had to see for myself.
A good ol' point-and-click. I am used to playing them here and there on one of my other game sites, but have not run into Goosebumps before (bless you R.L. Stine). If you love reading, this game is a must.
Your role is that of a student navigating through a world that somehow morphed from a Donna Reed setting into a reality only Svengoolie could love.
Schoolgirl: "So. Just what DID happen to my house that looked normal when I left for school this morning and now looks like something out of The Munsters?"
Sound from game dev studio: "Heh, heh, heh."
Another sound from dev studio: "Mooah ha ha!"
Oh, they had fun with this one. Yes they did.
7 REASONS WHY I BOUGHT THIS GAME
1. There are all kinds of spots to click that provide all kinds of information. 2. Each clickpoint has a dropdown menu with a variety of options, such as Look, Open, Test, Take, and more. 3. There are lots and lots of items to take, and plenty of room in your backpack inventory but... do you really need that item or is it just going to sit there as a mere item of interest? 4. You can die by making poor choices, but bounce back to play that scene again. 5. The game is loaded with regular and oddball characters who bring out a range of emotions in reaction to their varied attitudes. 6. The dialogue and info texts are great, and easy to click past when you have to revisit a scene. 7. I'm loving the level of challenge, but thank heaven there are walkthroughs out there. Search: goosebumps walkthrough.
Try it, buy it, and good luck getting through the door on the right. Or the one on the left. :D
Based on another review, I thought I'd be able to zoom through page 1 to see what's on the other pages. NOT SO. The details and complexity started right off on Image #4.
Image #4 on page 1 goes straight into detailing we normally don't see until the end of page 2. 34 colors, 31 colors, more, and ends with the little relaxer image that's inserted once or twice on each page.
The rest of the pages are beautiful, with an Autumn to Christmas theme scattered among the landscapes, old world city scapes, still life's, and a magnificent tiger. I can't wait until this evening when I can sit back and start painting. Ahhhh....
IF YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED CASUAL ADVENTURE GAMES BEFORE, OR ARE RELATIVELY NEW TO THE GENRE, YOU WILL UNDOUBTEDLY HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME PLAYING THIS ONE. By all means, play the demo and decide for yourself. -------------------------------------------------- Okay. It has become a fact of life: the big studios are bored with their jobs and are resorting to churning out games constructed around pre-fab coding. Just change the graphics and some of the dialog. The basic programming for feed the critter, find a toy, find a coin instead of a screwdriver, and all the other tasks that appear over and over again in all the Adventure games these days, are merely being passed around from studio to studio.
And so are the stupidly misnamed tools (sorry, you can't cut wire, especially barbed wire, with cuticle clippers or a pair of pliers, not even in a magic kingdom).
Now, I bought the game because I was certain there would be some redeeming features, and admittedly, bits and pieces were fun to play, just enough that I had a fairly good time when I wasn't slogging through the streets of no surprises, muttering "Really?" and "You've GOT to be kidding me".
NOTE TO DEVS: Here are adventure plots you may want to re-imagine that do not involve world domination or destruction. Treasure Island, King Solomon's Mines, Sea Wolf, Ivanhoe, Kim, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and so many more.
So, I am recommending this game for the newbies. For the rest of us - just pass.
There is absolutely nothing bad to say about this game.
Hilariously travel through eons with Vera as she tries to find her missing fiance in time for the wedding, save the world from alien destruction, and put everyone back into their proper moment in history.
My opinion? .................NEVOSOFT! MAKE US A SEQUEL!.........................
The voice actors are great, every one of them, and the one who did the voice for Vera absolutely nailed it. Although the professor is great, too. And Nostradamus! And Robot. And...
Another reviewer said the graphics are "old-fashioned and not very sophisticated" but they are supposed to be just what they are - colorful, perfect, cartoon art, and a ton of fun. Love the "South Park" style entrances and exits. Yeah, the graphics fit the music, the theme, and the dynamite script to a T. Prepare yourself for lots of smiles, chortles, and a giggle or two.
I landed on this game because a present day Key Contributor, HeavenBound7729, added it as her favorite in her Enchanted Kingdom: Frost Curse CE review. I love going retro, replaying my games from 2009 and up and adding ones I missed, and I had never stumbled across this one. Thank you, HeavenBound!
One more thing - the Nevosoft team did a thorough job of proofing their work, didn't find even one teensy error, which is so, so rare. If you are supposed to find a carving knife, that's what you find - not a meat cleaver or a paper clip or a rubber duckie.
Go, play, enjoy. :D
Then go play "Cursery: The Crooked Man and the Crooked Cat", one of the most popular and memorable games brought to us by BigFish. If you've already played that one, then head for the "Drawn" series. There's a new one, "Redrawn", that will be coming out somewhere along the line here. I played the survey demo the other day (around the 23rd of August 2021?) and ohmygosh. I can't wait for the release.
1. There are no location repetitions. YA-A-AY!! 2. The scenes are all interesting and crawl-worthy. 3. Now, how do we get the rest of the HOG devs to add that zoom feature into their games? 4. Needless to say but will say anyway, the cats are drop dead adorable. 5. I was surprised and sad when I reached the end. No fair. I wanted to keep going and going and ...
Can't wait for the next edition. Don't tell anyone, I just completed the demo survey for it and it's DYNAMITE! Even better than this one. And it has puppies! :D
Images and artwork: Stunning. Entertaining. Just plain marvelous.
Replay value: 10 out of 10
Favorite color: #75. If there are that many (and more) colors I know I'm going to be a happy camper.
Quilt stuffing, shadowing: Love the overstuffed design found in Edition No. 6 was it? I would sure enjoy seeing more more. The built-in shadowing is awesome, especially in the flesh tones.
I've been in the Pond going on 13 years and I have never seen a series that hits the top of the charts with unwavering consistency like Art by Numbers. Pure joy.
NOTE TO DEV: 1. Please get rid of the bounce back that occurs when high number colors are used up. It's still found in some, not all, of the designs. 2. You might want to rethink the quilted fruit. The shadowing sorta' kinda' makes the fruit look like it's rotting. 3. May we have time to admire the finished designs before flashing to the thumbnail and may we have larger thumbnails? 4. Thank you for your awesome work.
It wasn't until afterward that I realized buying Vacation Adventures is a must. Sort of like watching The Lone Ranger or Lucy and Desi back in the day. It's unAmerican not to.
Vacation Adventures are always a 5-Star-rating game, and this Anniversary-themed edition is no exception. AND, I always enjoy seeing familiar faces. Pine Creek Hills has very little turnover and is a place for repeat visits, so we can spend time with our favorite rangers and families (hey guys, it's time to start ageing the kids).
We get Country Western music, all-American music, new locations, items that are not impossible to find, even some new trash to pick up, but just once so far and I'm well into the CE locations. :O :D
Speaking of which, I've always been frustrated by the trash I can't pick up and sure wish the dev team would expand to more than paper cups, bottles, shopping bags, and pizza boxes. Perhaps we can have a Lost & Found? Like, really clean up the trails?
Whether you're a die-hard fan of this series or it's your first time playing, you're in for a lot - a lot - a lot of fun and challenges. GO FOR IT!
(For more game info, see penmom33 or SunnyGlow's review if she wrote one).
Gorgeous, as always. Satiny shading, vivid, vibrant colors, terrific skintones, great themes, great artwork, great everything.
From just a few colors and fill-ins to intricate color weavings that leave the eyes breathless with delight, Art by Numbers makes my day every single time.
DETAILED IMAGES: For paintings with intricate detail, since the image can be enlarged to almost infinity, I paint and complete one section at a time.
BACKGROUND COLOR: As for the background color, while Modern Art offers a vast array of colors and shades to contrast with the fill-in colors, Art by Numbers has set a light gray for the fill-ins and a sliding scale of white to black for the background. I use total black because it makes the images pop.
TUTORIAL: The tutorial is so clear, so easy to understand, and it's not forced. That's the biggie. It pops up at the beginning and can be put to rest by clicking the big checkmark at the bottom.
FUN STUFF: I always look forward to seeing what the little robot is up to - it's always on page 1 - and finding out what the artist has placed in the jar. That's often a page or two later.
SAD STUFF: In the series, colors are numbered on a palette of 24 shades per scrolled view with some edition images carrying as many as 75 or more shades (my favs). Alas, when completing a color located on a second or third scroll, the programming slams you back to the first view. If the section you are working on has colors that are all located in other views, the snap back is incredibly annoying. I do really wish the studio would fix the issue. None of the other fill-in art games do that.
All in all, Art by Numbers is an auto-buy for me and I do hope the series will be your must-have too.

Based on demo, bought the game. Since it's 1:30 AM, I'll wait to play more tomorrow.
I must say, this game play was totally unexpected.
1. It contains the usual goals. How you reach them is a bit surprising. For me, anyway. The objective is to lead a wayward tomcat to stashes of fish by laying a path with matches. A familiar scenario, sort of...
2. There are cannons that have to be loaded by making matches next to them. In the demo, this is a piece of cake, but I can see the difficulty will increase by stages.
3. Bombs are all over the place, but learn to use them wisely.
4. Obstacles abound. Some can be destroyed by the cannons. Others require a different strategy.
5. Though not a strategy game, a bit of forethought goes a long way. AND, unlike so many Match 3's, the cursor doesn't skew. You can plan a move without worrying that when you go to move a tile to the left, it doesn't skew to the right instead. Or up, or down, wasting the last 5 moves you made to get certain tiles lined up for a brilliant coup.
I know there's more, but darned if I can recall - my little grey cells call it a day at the stroke of 12.
