OVERVIEW: Is Bloody Stanley, a serial killer, still on the loose? Supposedly he has been captured; however, could the wrong man be sitting in prison awaiting execution? Play a detective called in to investigate the savage murders in this blood drenched superb 5-star game. I LOVE this game! The story is compelling. The graphics are beautiful and gruesome at the same time. The demo is very short; however, it whet my appetite to purchase this game immediately. As is common for this developer’s games, you collect coins to purchase inventory items and pay the carriage driver to drive you to different parts of the city. You also collect another set of coins to purchase skulls and swords which are in a trophy room. This game is classic ERS, crafting a wonderful, magical game! And, of course, Death, the scrappy cat, returns to make his presence known as well.
HOP SCENES: There are only three in the demo. One of the scenes is a list of items. The other HOP scenes are multiple-step ones which have silhouette items followed by another list of items to locate. They are few but very well-done.
MINI-GAMES: There are four puzzles in the demo. One is consistent throughout the game in which you collect memories with a gizmo called a “memory collector.” The other three include an assembly puzzle which gives you the ability to choose between Casual and Hard settings. As I have stated many times, I wish more developers gave us this option. The other two puzzles are maze puzzles.
AFTER THE DEMO: AN EXCITING NEW PUZZLE! There is an exciting new variation of a maze puzzle! I have not seen this puzzle before in a HOP game and it is unique and well-done. This maze puzzle is time consuming but enjoyable and requires a little strategy! I thought the HOP scenes I played after the demo are well crafted as well.

fromParaphrasing John Lennon: “Imagine a world without emotions – I wonder if you can?” No radio, no theaters, no books, no photos, no art, and even worse – no HOP games! It makes me want to cry – or will I be able to cry? Will I even care?
OVERVIEW: Prepare for the advent of a new world order – one in which society is perfectly controlled and devoid of human emotions. This “utopian” society is being formulated by a madman, Frederick. Can you stop Frederick before he turns the entire world into one “zombie nation?” I rate this a low 5-star game. I LOVE the story, the graphics, the HOP scenes, but am disappointed in the puzzles. The graphics are cartoon-like and beautifully illustrated as in past games. I feel that the story script behind this game is better than the previous games and does have some social relevance. In the game there are 20 HOP scenes and 23 mini-games. All the puzzles I played are easy and I thought the HOP scenes were better constructed than the puzzles. There are two collectibles, Rorschach tests and medical cards. You search for morphing objects as well. I will purchase this game; however, it will be as an SE instead of a CE.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are very creative. In the demo there are two multiple-step ones. In one of the scenes you must locate items by their silhouette and use them to interact with the scene. In the other scene you search for morphing objects followed by a silhouette sequence in which you must locate several of the same item in order to remove the silhouette. The other HOP scenes include a storybook sequence with items listed in colored letters, and a couple of lists of items to locate. You also have the option to play a thematic Match-3 game instead.
MINI-GAMES: I was disappointed with the mini-games and I feel they are the weakest part of the game. To me, they do not reflect the theme of the game, and it seems they were just “thrown” into the game without any consideration how they fit the theme of this game. As stated previously, all of those in the demo are easy with little or no challenge. Many of the puzzles in the demo involve some type of action to restore pictures or images. They include a few sequence puzzles, switch puzzles, assembly puzzles, a maze puzzle, a storybook sequence, and a slider puzzle to create a picture. There is one multiple-step puzzle which includes a matching puzzle and a sequence puzzle.

OVERVIEW: Ahoy, mateys! Return again to the West Indies on the final farewell voyage of this series! Get ready for another pirate adventure! This is a fairly well-done 4-star game and the final game in this series. The graphics are phenomenal and beautifully illustrated, especially in the latter scenes of the demo. There are more puzzles than HOP scenes. Most are similar to those we have seen before in this developer’s games. The extras include the usual morphing objects in the HOP scenes and collectibles which are messages in a bottle and treasure chests. You also have the opportunity to replay HOP scenes and puzzles.
The reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the game’s slow pace. This series has run out of ideas for a storyline (basically a rehash of the previous seafaring tales). How many Caribbean "cruises" can one take before running out of islands and stories? I believe this may be the reason this developer has ended this series. I also found this game a tad boring due to the easy puzzles and nondescript HOP scenes, all having been seen in previous games.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are multiple step consisting of two different types of activities per scene. They include lists of items to locate and silhouette items. They are interactive. Returning again, is the legendary EIPIX HOP scene in which you locate five of each of two items, and then, with some razzle-dazzle interaction within the scene, you open up two lists of items to locate. You do have the standard EIPIX Match-3 game to play in lieu of the HOP scene.
MINI-GAMES: The puzzles are varied in format and difficulty. I only found one puzzle which is a little challenging; the rest are easy. The puzzles in the demo include a moving tiles puzzles, sequence puzzles, matching puzzles, and an assembly puzzle. Also there is a question and answer puzzle in which you need to pay attention in the game in order to answer the questions correctly or you will be in trouble (not really, you do get a second or even a third chance).
STORY: You are the governor’s daughter and have been kidnapped by pirates. However, these pirates are actually “the good guys,” trying to defeat the true villain, the Pirate King, a former Captain Barlolomew. You are thrown overboard to reach an island to get help to defeat the Pirate King. Under a disguise, come into contact with colorful characters such as Lars “Dead Eye” Skyte, “La Tormenta” the weapon master, “Gold Teeth,” the ship’s treasurer, and “No Fingers,” the Pirate King’s scientist. Be careful, however! You may caught up in the Pirate King’s quest for immortality.

6 CHAPTERS, A BONUS CHAPTER, AND ONE CHAPTER DEDICATED TO COLLECTIBLES
OVERVIEW: Can you escape a cemetery which has you trapped behind its gates? Facing the “grave” circumstances for some “inhabitants,” rectify their pasts so you may locate the portal to exit this place. To me, this is a gorgeous 5-star game. Some of the scenes are breathtaking (especially after the demo) with beautifully illustrated characters. The game is puzzle intense and HOP light (there are only three HOP scenes in the demo). The puzzles vary in difficulty and most of the puzzles are creatively designed. The only collectibles are clocks.
STORY: After an accident in a taxi, you find yourself trapped within the walls of the cemetery. You are the “chosen one” to bring balance back to the world. Your only salvation is to help three troubled spirits by rectifying their pasts allowing you to leave the cemetery through a portal. Along the way, meet Seera, the keeper of the cemetery, a robed figure with a grotesque face, a wizard called “the hermit,” and a cast of other characters encountered from playing the game. The demo concentrates on the first story in which you encounter Elisa, who is haunted because she feels her fear allowed her brother Archie to die. Go back to the past and rectify this situation and save their sick mother so these poor spirits can rest in peace.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes vary in the game. In the demo there are three. One is a storybook scene to provide information on the story, another is the search for a certain number of one item, and the last is a silhouette sequence and replay of the previous scene. After the demo I played a HOP scene which is a matching sequence which was very creatively designed.
MINI-GAMES: The puzzles vary in difficulty and are creative. In the demo they include a sequence puzzle, a switch puzzle, a jigsaw puzzle (which uses slats to recreate a picture), a matching puzzle, a balance puzzle and a maze puzzle. After the demo, I played one manual dexterity puzzle which was rather creative in design.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: My favorite puzzle is a variation of a jigsaw puzzle in which you use slats instead of puzzle pieces to create the picture. Move slats sideways and up-and-down to restore the picture. This is a relatively new puzzle concept being used in recent games and it is a refreshing change-of-pace.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hard, Custom Hints and Skip: 10 to 50 seconds. (There is only bar in which you must allocate times between both the hints and the skips).
EXTRAS:

OVERVIEW: The Haunted Hotel series has engaged in some redecorating. Going for a “realistic” look to their hotel, they have “painted” their walls blood red and added some blood splattered scenes as well. I LOVE this 5 star plus game! Get ready for a chilling tale with realistically portrayed crime scenes. You are off as an investigative reporter to check into the Axiom Hotel to search for clues about the serial killer, the Axiom Butcher. Has the ghost of the serial killer returned to continue his reign of madness? Or, perhaps, is there a copycat killer behind all the sudden outbreak of murder?
The game script is very well written. The pace is excellent and keeps you in constant suspense. The graphics are realistic providing a blood dripping eerie chill throughout this game. There are more mini-games than HOP scenes; however both are thematic and well-done. The extras include three collectibles which include crystal balls, tarot cards and morphing objects. The crystal balls are huge and very easy to locate. The morphing objects and tarot cards are a little more difficult to find. You also have the ability to replay the HOP scenes and puzzles.
STORY: A ritualistic killer is loose within the hotel. Could it be a copycat killer or the ghost of a serial killer? Working with an undercover detective, James, meet an assortment of potential victims or suspects including Madam Cassandra Creighton, a seer who has the ability to see the future. Is she contacting with the spirit of the mass murderer in more ways than one? Meet Maid Molly, a college student working her way through school who may wish she had gotten a “full ride” out of this hotel. Meet Ben, the owner of the hotel, whose wife May, is the first victim. What secrets could he be hiding behind those wandering eyes? And why does Christian Donovan, a pianist, keep playing the same song “Darling Clementine” throughout the game? Ray Turner is the local officer assigned to this case; however, can he be trusted? An ancient evil has been awakened. As corpses pile up, learn more about the history of the residents of the hotel.
MINI-GAMES: There are more puzzles than HOP scenes. The puzzles range in difficulty from easy to moderately difficult. I did not find any which were brain crushing and most of the puzzles are easy. In the demo, they are principally matching puzzles along with a switch puzzle, a moving tiles puzzle, and a sequence puzzle. After the demo, in the next chapter there is an assembly puzzle, a sequence puzzle and another matching puzzle.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: My favorite puzzle is from the demo and is a variation of a domino puzzle in which each end contains symbols which must match up. It is not a terribly difficult puzzle; however, it does require some time and strategy to get the correct sequence for the dominos.
HOP SCENES: Although they are few, they are fairly well-created. They include items to locate, sentences detailing the murder scenes in which items to be located are listed in BOLD letter, and a matching scene. After the demo, in the next chapter, there is a silhouette scene and another list of items to locate
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom Hints and Skips – 15 to 90 seconds

A GAME WHICH HAS THE “WOW” FACTOR – (BOW-WOW THAT IS)
PostedApril 28, 2016
sunnyglow
fromMy "grumpy cat " is glaring at me and feels threatened! He fears being replaced when I play games featuring good looking blonds (Golden Labrador Retrievers that is).
OVERVIEW: In this whimsical, magical game you have been chosen as the “human” worthy of wearing the Ring of Destiny to help a troubled kingdom in this low 4-star game. This game is a dog lover’s delight. Although there is no “wow” factor in this game, it does have the “bow-wow” factor of a helper dog. It is a delightful family game which should appeal to children and adults alike. Although not the typical “helper” we see in casual games, (he is not sitting in your inventory nor at the side of the inventory bar), a Golden Labrador Retriever accompanies you throughout the game and helps you in your battle against the evil shadows.
Being a “cat person,” this game does not appeal to me. The constant barking of the dog throughout the demo got on my nerves. I also am not impressed with the game script which, I feel, is somewhat confusing. The graphics are decent (although somewhat blurry) in portraying the fairy tale kingdom and its denizens. There is a mishmash of several magical creatures from many sources including the Tin Man (Wizard of Oz), leprechauns, dragons, wizards, angels all living together in this “diverse” kingdom. Even with all the numerous activities in this game, I found the pace very slow.
STORY: Entering an animal shelter, you have been found and “adopted” by Ice, a Golden Labrador Retriever. As the “chosen one,” you receive an artifact, a ring, from this dog. The ring has been bequeathed to you to help the kingdom of Agora against the Shadows of the Labyrinth ruled by its evil queen, Glivera. You will be transported to a kingdom full of magical creatures and artifacts. Learn all the powers of the ring to stop the shadows from invading a kingdom. With your dog Ice at your side, you both will battle to restore the kingdom of Agora.
MINI-PUZZLES: There are more puzzles than HOP scenes; although some of the puzzles could be considered a variation of a HOP scene. All are relatively easy. Even those which “increase in difficulty” are still within the realm of the “50 shades of easy.” As you continue in the game you will play a variety of puzzles to enable you to use the ring's various powers. In the demo, you play a variation of a Match 3 game whenever you need to inject magic energy into an object. You also play a mathematical puzzle to give you wings. There are two multiple-step puzzles in the demo. There is an excellent variety of puzzles, including jigsaw puzzles, maze puzzles, assembly puzzles, sequence puzzles, tracing puzzles, matching puzzles, and a mathematical puzzle.
HOP SCENES: Actually, for this type of game, I am surprised there are not more HOP scenes. In the demo they include a FROG scene, lists of items, matching, and sentences with items listed in BOLD letters.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Expert, Custom Hints 10 to 180 seconds Skips 10 to 320 seconds
EXTRAS: A Map is given to you at the beginning of the game 15 Achievements with 3 sections for each achievement totaling 45 A ring which has 5 abilities which will be used in the game Collect 46 dragons Strategy Guide Replay Mini-games and HOP scenes Wallpaper, Music, Screensavers, Artwork, Movies

PUZZLES: The following puzzles are connected to the ring’s magic:
A. Match-3 game. One of the games you play to use the ring’s magic. This one is used to infuse magic into objects. Connect 3 or more items next to each other either in a straight line or diagonally. Remove all the elements to charge the ring. INCREASES IN DIFFICULTY but all the games from the demo are well within the easy range. B. Mathematical puzzle. OVERVIEW: Can the Pylon be appeased? Play Eve Glover, a CCPP investigator, and travel to a new world, Corra, in this 4-star sci-fi themed game. The game script is excellent, relating the story of another world whose survival depends upon one energy source for heat and agriculture – the Pylon. Unfortunately, the Pylon needs to be appeased annually, which occurs at the “Unthawing Ceremony.” A group of people, “the Chosen Ones,” are collected by the “harvesters,” (a group selected by the ruling body, the Senate), to be part of this ceremony. However, once collected, they are never seen again! Investigate this world of cold and ice, discover the power behind the Pylon, and find out what happens to the “Chosen Ones.” There is much to learn about this world including an underground kingdom of the “burrowers,” who come up from below for the heat from the Pylon.
WHY I DID NOT BUY: This game will be a pass for me. To me this is a decent game and I am certain many will love it. However, this game does not excite me and is an assembly-line game which follows the same carbon copy pattern of previous games from this developer. Although the mini-games are much improved, I feel the pace is slow. Returning are the same collectibles (signs) and achievements which appear in every game. The timing of the game is also a factor. Spring has arrived and the last things I want to see are ice, snow and cold. Perhaps it may be that we are oversaturated with games from this developer.
HOP SCENES: You are able to play a bubble-shooter game in lieu of the HOP scenes. The sci-fi theme is integrated into the HOP scenes. Again returning for its encore appearance in EIPIX games is the standard HOP scene in which you locate 5 each of two items, then, after some razzle-dazzle magical interaction with these items upon the scene; Presto! Up pops two lists of items to locate. How could I EVER forget this scene – it is used in ALL their games. At one time it was a clever and creative idea which has lost its appeal. Also included in the scenes are silhouette scenes, some of which require some interaction within the scene, and morphing objects.
MINI-GAMES: There are more puzzles than HOP scenes and for once, this developer has included some challenging puzzles. Two of the puzzles are somewhat difficult. The sci-fi theme is incorporated into the puzzles as well. They include maze puzzles, a story sequence with a jigsaw puzzle, a strategy puzzle which is a variation of a chess puzzle using tokens to play against the computer, and a few matching puzzles. I would have LOVED the strategy puzzle if I had not played the same puzzle the other day in another game, using marbles instead of tokens.

CRUISING THROUGH GREECE WITH ISLANDS OF FUN ACTIVITIES
PostedApril 21, 2016

fromOn a “Greek cruise” through this game, enjoying the beauty of the scenes, the slightly twisted myths, the beautiful love story, and the fun activities
OVERVIEW: Loosely based on Greek myths, enter the world of Ancient Greece and play two characters simultaneously, Persephone and her fiancé, Elias. This is a beautiful 5-star game which should appeal to the entire family. Zeus, Persephone’s father, has sanctioned the marriage between his daughter, Persephone and Elias; however these two find themselves in the midst of a power struggle between Zeus and his brothers, Hades and Poseidon. When Persephone gets kidnapped by Hades, you, as both characters, work to defeat the plan by Hades and Poseidon to usurp power from Zeus.
I LOVE this game rich in Greek culture and mythos. The characters in the game are attractive, realistic looking and the graphics are fairly well done. There is an equal balance of HOP scenes and mini-games. With the exception of one puzzle from the demo, the puzzles are all easy. There is a nice selection of collectibles including Greek artifacts and olives used as currency to purchase items associated with the 9 Greek Muses. The olives are fairly easy to locate; however the artifacts are somewhat difficult to find. You also collect three types of power-ups for the alternative Match-3 game to play in lieu of the HOP scenes. This is a nice touch which I have not seen in any previous games.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are varied, interactive and puzzle-like. You are able to play a thematic Match-3 game instead. The HOP scenes include silhouette items and lists of items to locate. There is also one scene which is puzzle-like and requires you to spot-the-differences between two sides of a scene. There is a multiple-step scene and one mini-HOP scene in which you locate a small amount of one item.
MINI-GAMES: For the most part, the mini-games are easy. However, there is a difficult strategy puzzle in which you play against the computer (supposedly a boat captain) in compiling the most colored marbles. Actually, this was my favorite game to play in the demo. Based loosely on a chess puzzle, it takes some logical thinking skills to be two to three steps ahead of the computer in solving this puzzle. The other puzzles include a rather unique sliding tiles puzzle, several easy variations of matching puzzles, and a sequence puzzle.
LEVELS: Mortal, Demigod, Immortal, Storyteller (which is Custom) Hints and Skips – 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 24 Achievements Collect 14 artifacts Collect 38 olives. You can use the olives to purchase items for the 9 Muses within the boudoir Collect 3 types of power-ups (bomb, lightning, and rainbow) for the Match-3 game Strategy guide - 59 pages 28 pictures under concept art, 19 different wallpapers, music

OVERVIEW: What a stellar 5 star plus game! Enter a dark demonic world of the supernatural. Playing an investigator (a Demon Hunter) you have been called in again by the police to defeat another demonic force which has killed a mother and kidnapped her daughter. This game has it all - a dark, creepy story, eerie graphics, and fantastic puzzles and HOP scenes! The graphics are striking with a dark and menacing environment contrasted with the bright opalescent colors of iridescent yellow and green. It has the look and feel of an adventure game. I LOVE this game and it was an automatic purchase for me!
HOP SCENES: There appears to be an equal amount of HOP scenes and mini-games. The HOP scenes are beautiful and include many varieties including interactive and puzzle-like lists of items, silhouette items, FROG scenes, and silhouette scenes in which you must replace the items back into the scene to proceed. There are some morphing objects in some of the HOP scenes. You have the option to play a matching game in lieu of some of the HOP scenes.
MINI-GAMES: The puzzles are the BEST part of the game. I have not seen an array of puzzles with varying levels of difficulty for some time on this site. They include logic puzzles, sequence puzzles, moving tiles puzzles, gear puzzles, tangram puzzles, and connection puzzles. There is a storybook scene in which you must locate a series of symbols within a storybook setting which are somewhat difficult to locate.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: My favorite puzzle from the demo was the moving tiles puzzle to open a door. You must move starfish and crystals so that colors on the crystals match those on the arms of the starfish. At the same time, you must also turn the bi-color crystals to one color. There are bright, beautiful colors in this puzzle.

OVERVIEW: As a supernatural specialist, you are off to save Bob Price and his fiancée, Sarah, who are being haunted by Arlene, a ghost from the land of girlfriends past. Some “ghouls” can never take no for an answer, and Arlene is one of those girls. Out for revenge, she has kidnapped both of them. I LOVE this game. The game script is well-written, containing some humorous elements. Many will relate to the saga of eternal agony of ex-relationships which never seem to die.
The graphics are well-done with an excellent portrayal of the screaming banshee, Arlene along with her "hunky" ex, Bob, and his sweeter than “gummy drops” fiancée, Sarah. The voiceovers are also well-done with one familiar sounding voice from games past. From the demo, there seems to be an equal amount of HOP scenes and mini-games. They both vary in style and the puzzles are all easy. There is a variation of a Match-3 puzzle you must solve throughout the game in order to defeat the evil energy from Arlene. This mini-game gets more difficult as the game proceeds. There are two items to collect and a jigsaw puzzle to solve at the end of the game.
HOP SCENES: In the demo, they include a multiple step one which involves a cute chubby raccoon. They also include lists of specific items to locate to replace back within the scene, matching, a storybook sequence and a general list of items to locate.
