OVERVIEW: Can the Pylon be appeased? Play Eve Glover, a CCPP investigator, and travel to a new world, Corra, in this 4-star sci-fi themed game. The game script is excellent, relating the story of another world whose survival depends upon one energy source for heat and agriculture – the Pylon. Unfortunately, the Pylon needs to be appeased annually, which occurs at the “Unthawing Ceremony.” A group of people, “the Chosen Ones,” are collected by the “harvesters,” (a group selected by the ruling body, the Senate), to be part of this ceremony. However, once collected, they are never seen again! Investigate this world of cold and ice, discover the power behind the Pylon, and find out what happens to the “Chosen Ones.” There is much to learn about this world including an underground kingdom of the “burrowers,” who come up from below for the heat from the Pylon.
WHY I DID NOT BUY: This game will be a pass for me. To me this is a decent game and I am certain many will love it. However, this game does not excite me and is an assembly-line game which follows the same carbon copy pattern of previous games from this developer. Although the mini-games are much improved, I feel the pace is slow. Returning are the same collectibles (signs) and achievements which appear in every game. The timing of the game is also a factor. Spring has arrived and the last things I want to see are ice, snow and cold. Perhaps it may be that we are oversaturated with games from this developer.
HOP SCENES: You are able to play a bubble-shooter game in lieu of the HOP scenes. The sci-fi theme is integrated into the HOP scenes. Again returning for its encore appearance in EIPIX games is the standard HOP scene in which you locate 5 each of two items, then, after some razzle-dazzle magical interaction with these items upon the scene; Presto! Up pops two lists of items to locate. How could I EVER forget this scene – it is used in ALL their games. At one time it was a clever and creative idea which has lost its appeal. Also included in the scenes are silhouette scenes, some of which require some interaction within the scene, and morphing objects.
MINI-GAMES: There are more puzzles than HOP scenes and for once, this developer has included some challenging puzzles. Two of the puzzles are somewhat difficult. The sci-fi theme is incorporated into the puzzles as well. They include maze puzzles, a story sequence with a jigsaw puzzle, a strategy puzzle which is a variation of a chess puzzle using tokens to play against the computer, and a few matching puzzles. I would have LOVED the strategy puzzle if I had not played the same puzzle the other day in another game, using marbles instead of tokens.
LEVELS: Casual, Challenging, Insane, Custom Hints 10 to 120 seconds Skips 10 to 400 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 16 Achievements with some containing 3 parts Collect 42 signs 12 Morphing objects: Strategy guide Replay 23 puzzles and 16 HOP scenes Play a HOP scene and puzzle from other games 8 pictures from concept art and 8 wallpapers Video sequences Souvenir room
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES IN THE DEMO:
HOP SCENES: You may play a bubble-shooter game in lieu of the HOP scene A. Silhouette. Locate silhouette objects within a scene. Some must be used within the scene to proceed in the game. B. Locate 5 each of two items opening up a list of items to locate. (Getting a little old EIPIX?) C. Locate morphing objects within a HOP scene.
PUZZLES: A. Maze puzzle. Connect light beams of the same color using mirrors to change the light path. MODERATELY DIFFICULT B. Manual dexterity puzzle. Ready, aim, shoot. Shoot an arrow using a circle and bar graph to center it. EASY C. Story sequence. Jigsaw puzzle. Replace pieces back into the scene to tell a story. SO EASY IT IS RIDICULOUS D. Manual Dexterity puzzle. Using arrows, guide a snowmobile. EASY E. Strategy puzzle. Play a game with the computer. Play against the computer to get more gold than blue tokens. Moving a token changes the color of the tokens surrounding it. MODERATELY DIFFICULT F. Matching puzzle. CRUISING THROUGH GREECE WITH ISLANDS OF FUN ACTIVITIES

fromOn a “Greek cruise” through this game, enjoying the beauty of the scenes, the slightly twisted myths, the beautiful love story, and the fun activities
OVERVIEW: Loosely based on Greek myths, enter the world of Ancient Greece and play two characters simultaneously, Persephone and her fiancé, Elias. This is a beautiful 5-star game which should appeal to the entire family. Zeus, Persephone’s father, has sanctioned the marriage between his daughter, Persephone and Elias; however these two find themselves in the midst of a power struggle between Zeus and his brothers, Hades and Poseidon. When Persephone gets kidnapped by Hades, you, as both characters, work to defeat the plan by Hades and Poseidon to usurp power from Zeus.
I LOVE this game rich in Greek culture and mythos. The characters in the game are attractive, realistic looking and the graphics are fairly well done. There is an equal balance of HOP scenes and mini-games. With the exception of one puzzle from the demo, the puzzles are all easy. There is a nice selection of collectibles including Greek artifacts and olives used as currency to purchase items associated with the 9 Greek Muses. The olives are fairly easy to locate; however the artifacts are somewhat difficult to find. You also collect three types of power-ups for the alternative Match-3 game to play in lieu of the HOP scenes. This is a nice touch which I have not seen in any previous games.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are varied, interactive and puzzle-like. You are able to play a thematic Match-3 game instead. The HOP scenes include silhouette items and lists of items to locate. There is also one scene which is puzzle-like and requires you to spot-the-differences between two sides of a scene. There is a multiple-step scene and one mini-HOP scene in which you locate a small amount of one item.
MINI-GAMES: For the most part, the mini-games are easy. However, there is a difficult strategy puzzle in which you play against the computer (supposedly a boat captain) in compiling the most colored marbles. Actually, this was my favorite game to play in the demo. Based loosely on a chess puzzle, it takes some logical thinking skills to be two to three steps ahead of the computer in solving this puzzle. The other puzzles include a rather unique sliding tiles puzzle, several easy variations of matching puzzles, and a sequence puzzle.
LEVELS: Mortal, Demigod, Immortal, Storyteller (which is Custom) Hints and Skips – 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 24 Achievements Collect 14 artifacts Collect 38 olives. You can use the olives to purchase items for the 9 Muses within the boudoir Collect 3 types of power-ups (bomb, lightning, and rainbow) for the Match-3 game Strategy guide - 59 pages 28 pictures under concept art, 19 different wallpapers, music
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE
HOP SCENES: You may play a thematic Match-3 game instead. A. Spot the difference. Find the differences between two halves of a scene. B. Mini-HOP scene. Locate a certain number of one item C. Silhouette items which are used within the scene to locate other items D. Multiple step HOP scene. (1) List of items to locate (2) Silhouette items E. List of items to locate
PUZZLES: A. Matching. Match up symbols from a guide to decipher words on a letter EASY B. Sliding tiles puzzle. Move a series of items out of the way with a net so that a net can capture a fish. EASY C. Strategy game. Outmaneuver the computer. Move marbles into place so that you end up with more marbles than your opponent (the sea captain). As you or your opponent moves a marble into an empty space, it changes the color of the marbles surrounding it. DIFFICULT D. Match up plates according to symbols under the plates. EASY E. Matching. Match up animals with their star constellations. EASY F. Sequence puzzle. Open up flowers in sequence until all are open Opening one affects the others. EASY
OVERVIEW: What a stellar 5 star plus game! Enter a dark demonic world of the supernatural. Playing an investigator (a Demon Hunter) you have been called in again by the police to defeat another demonic force which has killed a mother and kidnapped her daughter. This game has it all - a dark, creepy story, eerie graphics, and fantastic puzzles and HOP scenes! The graphics are striking with a dark and menacing environment contrasted with the bright opalescent colors of iridescent yellow and green. It has the look and feel of an adventure game. I LOVE this game and it was an automatic purchase for me!
HOP SCENES: There appears to be an equal amount of HOP scenes and mini-games. The HOP scenes are beautiful and include many varieties including interactive and puzzle-like lists of items, silhouette items, FROG scenes, and silhouette scenes in which you must replace the items back into the scene to proceed. There are some morphing objects in some of the HOP scenes. You have the option to play a matching game in lieu of some of the HOP scenes.
MINI-GAMES: The puzzles are the BEST part of the game. I have not seen an array of puzzles with varying levels of difficulty for some time on this site. They include logic puzzles, sequence puzzles, moving tiles puzzles, gear puzzles, tangram puzzles, and connection puzzles. There is a storybook scene in which you must locate a series of symbols within a storybook setting which are somewhat difficult to locate.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: My favorite puzzle from the demo was the moving tiles puzzle to open a door. You must move starfish and crystals so that colors on the crystals match those on the arms of the starfish. At the same time, you must also turn the bi-color crystals to one color. There are bright, beautiful colors in this puzzle.
For everyone who loves collectibles, there are several to collect. You collect creepy dolls, demonic looking coins and portraits.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Expert, Custom Hints: 5 to 90 seconds Skips: 5 to 120 seconds HOP hints: 5 to 60 seconds.
EXTRAS: Map is given to you at the start of the game 24 Achievements Collect 15 creepy dolls Collect 15 coins Collect 15 portraits Morphing objects: In some of the HOP scenes Strategy guide - 45 pages Replay of mini-games and HOP scenes Usual wallpaper, concept art, music, screensavers,

Moving one roller affects the others. MODERATELY DIFFICULT E. Gear puzzle. Place gears into proper location so that they mesh to fix an elevator. EASY F. Matching/Moving tiles puzzle. Move starfish and crystals so that the colors on the bi-color crystals match those on the arms of the starfish so that each crystal is only one color. MODERATELY DIFFICULT G. Sequence puzzle. Release latches on a door in proper sequence 2X EASY AFTER THE DEMO: H. Connection puzzle. Connect sets of matching gears without crossing lines. EASY I. Tangram puzzle. Place segments of tangrams into a grid to that cables connect with each other. EASY J. Moving rings puzzle. Move three rings with colored marbles so that each ring contains only one color of marbles. MODERATELY DIFFICULT
OVERVIEW: As a supernatural specialist, you are off to save Bob Price and his fiancée, Sarah, who are being haunted by Arlene, a ghost from the land of girlfriends past. Some “ghouls” can never take no for an answer, and Arlene is one of those girls. Out for revenge, she has kidnapped both of them. I LOVE this game. The game script is well-written, containing some humorous elements. Many will relate to the saga of eternal agony of ex-relationships which never seem to die.
The graphics are well-done with an excellent portrayal of the screaming banshee, Arlene along with her "hunky" ex, Bob, and his sweeter than “gummy drops” fiancée, Sarah. The voiceovers are also well-done with one familiar sounding voice from games past. From the demo, there seems to be an equal amount of HOP scenes and mini-games. They both vary in style and the puzzles are all easy. There is a variation of a Match-3 puzzle you must solve throughout the game in order to defeat the evil energy from Arlene. This mini-game gets more difficult as the game proceeds. There are two items to collect and a jigsaw puzzle to solve at the end of the game.
HOP SCENES: In the demo, they include a multiple step one which involves a cute chubby raccoon. They also include lists of specific items to locate to replace back within the scene, matching, a storybook sequence and a general list of items to locate.
MINI-GAMES: Besides the variation of the Match-3 game there are also a sequence puzzle, a tangram puzzle, an assembly puzzle, and a switch puzzle.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Expert, Custom Hints and Skips – 1 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game Magic token to keep you safe from evil energy from Arlene Collect 25 bats Collect 9 statues 6 Achievements with 3 sections for each one (18 in total) Collect 21 jigsaw puzzles pieces as you collect achievements Strategy guide 6 Music selections, 18 wallpapers, 24 Concept Art, Video
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES
HOP SCENES: A. Collect 12 bell pieces and replace them within the scene to reassemble it B. Multiple step: (1) Collect 12 items of food to feed a chubby little raccoon. Some food items he will not eat. You will receive needed inventory items after he is fed properly. (2) Matching. Match up fuses to remove them from the scene C. Storybook sequence. Locate items within the pages of a storybook while learning a little of the history between Bob and Arlene. D. List of items to locate
MINI-GAMES: A. Match-3 puzzle. Using your magic token, play a variation of a Match-3 puzzle in which you must connect and remove three or more tokens for three or more colors. Tokens can only be removed if they adjoin either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. The amount you need to collect for each color is listed. You only receive a certain amount of moves to accomplish this. INCREASES IN DIFFICULTY B. Sequence puzzle. Use door handles in sequence to open a gate. EASY C. Tangram puzzle. Move angled boards into position to create a bridge. EASY D. Assembly puzzle. Rearrange the clothing on five dolls so that each doll as the correct clothing. EASY E. Switch puzzle. OVERVIEW: Happy 21st Birthday! Instead of going out for a night on the town with friends, you, as Princess Lerione, will be celebrating it on a long-prophesized trip to the Shadow World! What secrets has your mother been hiding from you? After receiving an amulet from your mother, you are whisked away to find out hidden secrets about your mother and fulfill your role an ancient prophecy.
I LOVE this game even with the “helper” cat, Sebastian. I hate helper games; however, Sebastian is actually a very cool cat – a chubby little hellion with a big smile and a big attitude to match. Like most cats, he just sleeps and purrs at the corner of your screen if you click on him. He is only used three times in the demo and for some of the demo he “leaves” (probably to get away from you).
The game is very creative. The graphics are colorful and the characters have a cartoon-like appearance. To add to the flavor of the game, this game is seasoned with a few humorous moments. I loved the humorous “Dancing with the Skeletons,” sequence with skeletons singing about unrequited love and dancing for you. So funny! There are more puzzles than HOP scenes and all of the puzzles I played in the demo are easy. However, both are innovative in design. The inventory is puzzle-like.
You receive a magic crystal ball giving you magical abilities which you can use on the evil characters in the Shadow World. You also have two options in using your crystal ball – one for light (good) magic and the other for dark (evil) magic. The consequences for the characters differs as to whether you use light or dark magic. Using dark magic produces some rather hilarious results on some of the characters. I would opt for dark magic to see some funny results!
HOP SCENES: They are creatively designed and require quite a bit of interaction within the scenes. Some of the scenes also include puzzles. They are slightly longer than most HOP scenes, requiring a series of actions within the scenes. They include lists of items, and silhouette. However, in one HOP scene there is a matching puzzle.
MINI-GAMES: They are numerous, easy, but well-crafted. They include a maze puzzle, switch puzzles, a sequence puzzle, a Simon Says puzzles, a matching puzzle, and a manual dexterity puzzle. In one of the puzzles you play, you play it after you finish a HOP scene in which you collect items used in the puzzle.
LEVELS: 4 settings including customized (No names given to them) Hints and Skips – 15 to 275 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is provided as you play the game You receive a ball of energy which gives you the option to use either light or dark magic with differing outcomes! YOU ARE THE “BIG GAME” IN THE LATEST OFFERING FROM THIS “KILLER SERIAL” CREEPFEST!
PostedApril 7, 2016

fromNext time I go on a road trip with friends, remind me NOT to purchase gas at any small secluded towns hidden away from the general public.
OVERVIEW: On your way to the “big game” with your brother, you are knocked out and end up a prisoner in a tourist haunt. The owner, a strange woman has locked you up in a room and you feel an urgent need to escape. I LOVE this creepy game complete with excellent HOP scenes and mini-games. The graphics are dark, and the scene of dilapidated house creates a depressing and terror ridden environment. From the demo there is an equal amount of HOP scenes and mini-games and both are well-crafted. Both contain some multi-step offerings. You also have the option to play a Match-3 game in lieu of the HOP scene.
STORY: Where are your brother and her girlfriend? As you survey your current locked environment, your captor has informed you that her son Jeffrey (hopefully not Dahmer), found you unconscious, is out looking for your brother and his girlfriend, and will be returning. As you try to escape, you locate another captive. Find a way to escape from this rundown tourist rat trap, locate your brother and any others who may be trapped at this tourist center, and save the day!
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are very creative, reflecting some creative new touches for EIPIX. EIPIX is known for their multiple-step HOP scenes and this game is no exception. The HOP scenes includes lists of items, matching of similar items, silhouette items, and replacement of items back into the scenes. After the demo, the quality of the HOP scenes remains consistent. My favorite HOP scene includes matching up two items all while rotating a turntable and opening up boxes to look for the matching objects.
MINI-GAMES: They are varied in type and difficulty. However, none are very difficult. They include sequencing puzzles, switch puzzles, mathematical puzzles, matching puzzles, and an interactive puzzle. After the demo I played a unique maze puzzle.
FAVORITE MINI-GAME: My favorite puzzle was a switch puzzle in which you must switch numbers on a clock into the correct position. What makes is difficult is that instead of just choosing two numbers to switch, you must rotate six dials around the clock which change the position of the numbers by angles – from 15 to 90 degrees. This puzzle is a tad tricky!

HOP SCENES: You have the option to play a Match-3 game instead A. Multi-step. (1) Locate 5 of each of two objects to open up (2) List of objects to locate B. List of items to locate in the dark using a flashlight C. Multi-step. Matching pairs of items. Rather creative. (1) You must rotate the items on a turntable in order to locate them. (2) List of items to locate on the same turntable. D. Multi-step. (1) Locate Silhouette items and then replace them back into the scene to forward the HOP scene (2) List of items to locate AFTER THE DEMO: E. Multi-step. (1) List of items to locate (2) Cryptic clues (3) Silhouette items F. Locate morphing objects.
PUZZLES: A. Sequencing puzzle. Move four tokens into the correct slots around the edges of a rectangular shaped object, avoiding the rotating ornaments with sharp nails in your path. EASY B. Switch puzzle. Switch numbers into correct position on a clock. However, you do not get to choose the two numbers to switch. Instead there are six dials around the clock which are given in different angles from 15 degrees to 90 degree movements. Change the positions of the numbers using the angled dials. MODERATELY DIFFICULT C. Multiple-step puzzle. Interactive puzzle. (1) According to directions follow a sequence of activities on a small model of a town. You will learn more about the town as you lay this puzzle. Followed by a matching puzzle. EASY (2) Connect wires of like color to connect the circuits. EASY D. Mathematical puzzle. Move dials to change the amount of electrical current moving through the wires of a circuit. EASY AFTER THE DEMO: E. Maze puzzle. Using a remote control, guide a toy car through one end of a hall to the other. EASY
OVERVIEW: Return to 1959 New York and help Laura James, journalist, investigate another strange murder case. What a fun, campy game! I LOVE this game and it was an automatic purchase. This game is more of an adventure game rather than a typical HOP game. The graphics are cartoon-like; it is a 1950’s comic book come-to-life. Prepare for a long demo!
There are very few HOP scenes and those are interactive and puzzle-like. The puzzles are easy; and most are mechanical in nature. You are able to replay the puzzles at the end of the game. Be on the lookout for a myriad of collectibles - four different types of items plus morphing objects. All of the five collectibles unlock puzzles at the end of the game. Want to know more about New York? You also collect information cards giving you little gems of information concerning the Big Apple.
STORY: Investigating the murder of Carrie Martell, the wife of the recently deceased Thomas Martell leads to more than you bargained for. Something seems strange in this case. With the help of your disheveled scientific genius of a partner, Will, investigate the Martell mansion and ferret out the culprit behind this crime.
HOP SCENES: There are only three in the entire demo. After the demo, the others are all the same as well. I felt the HOP scenes were more difficult to maneuver than the mini-games. They are silhouette, require interaction within the scene, puzzle-like, and are mechanically based.
PUZZLES: Although they fit in well with the story I felt that the puzzles were a little too easy for me. They include mathematical puzzles, assembly puzzles, matching puzzles, and sequence puzzles. They require very little time or effort. In other words, you will not need the Order’s scientific genius, Will, to help solve them.
LEVELS: Easy, Normal, Hard, Custom (There are only 3 levels; however, you can still customize your game) Hints 15 to 90 seconds Skips 30 to 150 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is given to you at the start of the game Replay 18 mini-games 20 Achievements Collect 9 each of eagles, apples, violin keys and 8 masons which unlock puzzles at the end of the game Collect 35 morphing objects. Collect 16 cards which give information about New York. Locate all to open a cache. Strategy guide - 55 pages Usual wallpaper, concept art, videos, and music
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES
HOP SCENES: All the HOP scenes are the same in the demo. After the demo, the ones I encountered were the same as well: They are silhouette scenes in which you must locate items and interact with them within the scene in order to proceed to the next item.

Match up two parts of a symbol which, when combined, create the symbol. Multiple times. EASY C. Matching puzzle. Match up taps on a boiler which rotate at the exact angle. EASY D. Matching puzzle. Remembering a code, rearrange pictures on a statue to open a drawer. EASY E. Rat maze puzzle. Using directional arrows, move a rat through a maze to move a gold square into an indicated spot. EASY F. EASY and basically trial and error L. Matching puzzle. Enter the correct code to open a box. EASY
OVERVIEW: Bravo! What creativity! What innovation! It has been some time since we have seen a game of this caliber. This is a 5-star plus game! Our GrandMA has had a face lift, connected with her sinister side, and can now be considered as a major player in dark games. GrandMA! What big dark thoughts you have lurking in your gaming department! This game has a well-written script about an asylum, which could cause some phobias by just being there to investigate!
The graphics are dark and the surrealistic settings give a creepy element to the game. You will investigate the sad tales of four (4) children and an evil presence who is manipulating these children. As you begin your investigation, you are accompanied throughout the asylum by shapeshifting ghostly Angelina who talks to you in a creepy monotone voice, warning you of your own peril.
There are more puzzles than HOP scenes and the puzzles range from easy to difficult. This game demonstrates some of the best innovation in HOP scenes and puzzles to be seen on this site in quite some time. One of the HOP scenes is actually a cube in which you must switch from side-to-side to locate and replace items. The puzzles are masterful including an actual rat maze in which you must set arrows to create a path for the poor rat only to have it turn from side-to-side once you activate it. After the demo there is another “cube” puzzle which requires some logical reasoning.
As you uncover the story about Angelina who has "lost her marbles," you will help her collect them (as a collectible) and place them back into a maze within her head. Once all are collected, you will use them to play a maze puzzle the end of the game. Chanting and talking to you in a creepy voice, she reminds you that you that “You are next!” Mystery surrounds these outcasts, who having nothing wrong with them but are placed within this asylum. Why are they there? Uncover the sad story of the outcasts.
HOP SCENES: They are fewer than the puzzles; however, they are well-done. They include lists of items to locate with a modicum of interactivity. The best one is of course the Rubik Cube scene in which you must locate and replace items back within the scene – all while twisting and turning the cube.
PUZZLES: A true puzzler’s delight! There are easy puzzles; however, there are some which are moderately difficult. There is also a fiendishly difficult rat maze puzzle which requires some time to figure out if you choose the more difficult mode. I LOVE the puzzles in this game. And again, it has been some time since those of us who love some challenging puzzles have had any in these games.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom Hints and Skips – 10 to 500 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is provided as you play the game 16 Achievements (from what I could count) Collect 36 marbles Strategy guide 51 pages Usual wallpaper, music, movies, artwork

fromA wonderful final performance, OD2. Take a BIG bow for all the fine games you have given us! Best of luck in the future and thank you for the beads (of blood that is)
OVERVIEW OF THE GAME: Boogie on down to the Big Easy of the 1930’s in a “blood curdling” vampire adventure with two ghosts added to the mix. This is a decent low 5-star game! The graphics are cartoon-like but reflect the atmosphere of New Orleans during the time period. Those thick–as-molasses Southern accents are authentic as well. The story is about the immortal St. Germain (with a twist); the pace is good and kept my interest. The inventory is interactive. There are more puzzles than HOP scenes in the demo. Not having had a vampire thriller in quite some time, the story is “bloody” refreshing. The HOP scenes are varied and provide some uniquely creative elements. The puzzles are also creative as well. You receive an old 1930’s camera to take photos and you learn how to develop film. The collectibles are masks.
STORY: You, as paranormal investigator, Angeline, are researching the history of two brothers named Carter who are serial killers. Legend has it that these killers drained their victims of blood in order to feed a vampire. As you investigate, you soon realize you are in for a “beaucoup” of trouble from the ghosts of the Carter brothers plus the vampire. Creepily, they stalk you as you travel throughout New Orleans. You better keep your “gris-gris” with you at all times to protect yourself in this game as you travel through St. Louis cemetery in search of answers. There is danger lurking at every corner of Cajun country.
HOP SCENES: They are creative and varied. The scenes are interactive and require actions be performed before eliminating an item. They include lists of items and replacement of items back into the scene. The one which I enjoyed the most was the first HOP scene in which you replace items back into the scene. It is interactive and well-done. You have the option to play a Match-3 game featuring Mardi Gras beads. You must collect a certain amount of each color of bead.
PUZZLES: They are varied in difficulty and variety. Most are easy; however there is one in the demo which is moderately difficult. They include a truly unique multiple-step one, a switching tiles puzzle, a matching puzzle, and an assembly puzzle. My favorite puzzle was an assembly puzzle in which you must combine parts of two symbols together to match symbols on a door.
EXTRAS: A transportable map is provided to you as you play the game. You receive a notebook to collect information on the case. Collect 52 masks, There are 14 achievements. You receive an old 1930’s camera to take pictures and then develop them as you play the game. There are the usual wallpaper, artwork, music in this game.
LEVELS: Casual, Normal, Expert, Custom Hints and Skips 5 to 120 seconds
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES
HOP SCENES: You have the option to play a theme based Match 3 game instead. You must collect a certain amount of 3 colored Mardi Gras beads.
A. Replace items back into the scene. Creative and well-done B. List of items to locate. Somewhat creative C. List of items to locate to create your own gris-gris.
PUZZLES: You can reset the puzzles.
A. Logic puzzle. Following clues, cross off names and numbers in a phone book to locate the name and number of a person of interest. EASY B. Multiple-step puzzle. After paying a token, receive objects to be used in the puzzle. Use each piece to open a new part of the puzzle. Place items into correct locations to continue in the puzzle. EASY C. Switching tiles puzzle. Switch tiles to create a map of a cemetery. EASY D. Matching puzzle. Match up photo circles on a map with the actual locations 9X EASY E. Matching puzzle. Match up symbols from two pieces of paper with those on a door to open the door EASY F. Assembly puzzle. OVERVIEW: Playing a 25-year old princess (with the help of your nanny), you are off to save your mother, all while uncovering some hidden family secrets in the process. To me, this is a decent low four-star game designed for those who love fairy tale games. I find nothing spectacular nor innovative in this game which would entice me to purchase it. It lacks elements we have no come to expect in a five-star game such as morphing objects and a game to play in lieu of the HOP scenes. There is only one collectible. As usual for ERS, the game is beautifully illustrated with pastel colored fairy tale scenes and attractive characters. There are more HOP scenes than puzzles. The HOP scenes are decent and vary in design. Throughout the game you play a mini-HOP scene in which you use an amulet to locate thorns which practically jump out at you. I found all the puzzles easy – boringly easy. You collect pearls which you use to purchase items as part of a collection. You also have the ability to replay the HOP scenes and puzzles.
I would recommend this game for children, as they could play this game with little or no adult assistance. Although this game will be a pass for me, you should probably play the demo yourself. The demo is very short so the game could get better after the demo. However, there is nothing to entice me to continue in the game. I found the demo tedious.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are varied but I found none which were outstanding in the demo. They include a list of items to locate plus a storybook sequence in which the items are highlighted in bold letter. They are slightly interactive. In one of the scenes, after locating an item, you receive a part of an inventory item
MINI-GAMES: In the demo the puzzles are varied. It appears that some of the puzzles allow you to choose between Casual and Difficult levels; however in the one puzzle offering this option in the demo, I found the difficult level to be easy as well. The puzzles include a moving tiles puzzle, a mathematical puzzle requiring basic math skills, a memory puzzle in which you must remember where cards are located. There is also a multiple-step puzzle involving a storybook. The multiple-step puzzle requires you to spot the difference between two items and is combined with a mini jigsaw puzzle. There is an assembly puzzle to create a potion which has a matching puzzle within it.
