Based solely on playing the demo. This is NOT your average HOG....like many of the other reviews state, this is more of a puzzle game than anything. But certainly, at least in my view, not typical. The graphics and music are fantastic and really do serve to move the game along. Interesting game premise too. Not overly simplified either - these puppies make you THINK!
Would HIGHLY recommend this game for any skill level

Residents of Happy Orchard Farm are disappearing at night. Is there an innocent explanation, or could the farm be at the mercy of supernatural forces?

When I played through the trial of Farm Mystery: The Happy Orchard Nightmare, I initially found it entertaining. A fun, if somewhat simple, hidden object game. I purchased the game, hoping to find more engaging puzzles and challenges to unravel the mystery. Imagine my disappointment when, with only another 15-20 minutes of game play (if that) the end of the game was agonizingly anti-climactic. If you're a newcomer (and I do mean VERY new) to HOG's then this MIGHT be one to look at. If you're searching for a real challenge...pass this one by.
I don't recommend this game.

I found the first Chronicles of Albian to be enjoyable, I find myself liking this one much more. Admittedly, the voice overs are on the corny side (I can see quite a bit of influence taken from Harry Potter), but it does help in the overall flow of the game. The music is pleasant and NOT overpowering, scenes are beautifully illustrated and the HO's and in scene puzzles are entertaining, engaging and, at times, very complex.
The only problem I would have to voice about the HO scenes is that (and I have noted in other reviews) some objects are almost too small to see, even in the enlarged view.
All in all it is a fun game and is a nice challenge even to advanced players. Don't discount it before you try it, that's for sure!
I recommend this game!

While I did have some technical problems with the game (remedied by deleting and re-downloading), I found it to be a fun and different kind of Match-3 game. The levels were fun, challenging and entertaining. Certainly not your average Match-3. For a 'time waster' it's a good deal of fun, but does require paying attention to the level goals. If you like Match-3 games I would HIGHLY recommend this one!

An engaging, entertaining and fun match three! Excellent graphics and music. You can certainly pass the time with this one and not realize how much time you've spent. Loved the 3 modes of game play and in game bonuses. If you're looking for a fun, addictive little 'time waster' game (time between household or school tasks), THIS is a great one!
I recommend this game!

While admittedly, graphically stunning, the game play itself left me dizzy with the motion that is set with every move of the mouse. Sadly, I think this would make a much more interesting screen saver than actual game.
I don't recommend this game.

I have to count myself with fellow gamers that find this game uninteresting. Seeming like a throwback to the 64-bit games of early Atari or N-64. I didn't find a cohesive story that the game play was following. The graphics of the intro and tutorial pages were, again, hearkening back to the days of 64-bit games and not in feeling with the current level of detail that games now can explore. The music grated on the nerves (at least for me). While it certainly was challenging, I didn't find the game play engaging enough to warrant even finishing the trial.
I don't recommend this game.

Normally I absolutely love this style of time management game, however, from the opening animation of this one I couldn't help but feel somewhat insulted - regardless, I opted to give the trial a go. Sadly stereotyped roles for the lead characters, goals that weren't always clear as to what had to be done. Certainly I can see where this might be far more entertaining to a younger gamer. And, while I didn't find the tasks, in and of themselves, difficult, the means to accomplish your goals in some chapters were vague at best.
I don't recommend this game.

Like so many others here I waited for the next release of a MCF game with eagerly baited breath and purchased it immediately when it was released. After having read some of the reviews, I began to feel a bit concerned that that might have been an error. However, after having played through it finally I have to say I was very glad to see that this did not live down to what was being said. I found the game a fun challenge, different from previous MCF games in that wonderfully spooky way that the 13th Skull and Dire Grove did. While I will say that, yes, it was 'over acted' a bit on the behalf of Cassandra and the head of Ghost Patrol, it fit very well with the style and type of game that Shadow Lake was. The puzzles were challenging and engaging with the 'freaky' factor just right. Conversely, I found the lack of a fully thought out story a bit disappointing. It was never established just who the 'being' that is seen through the game was, and the lack of the morphing objects in the regular game play (only unlocked at the end of standard play) was a bit of a let down. But, all in all, MCF Shadow Lake was a GREAT game. If you don't judge it by those in the Ravenhearst story line or other tie-ins to Ravenhearst. LOVED the Madame Fate game in the pharmacy! Great twist! I will always be looking forward to more MCF games.
I recommend this game!

The game lacked continuity and a consistent story line. The story was spotty at best and outright lacking at other points. Far too many times I was left in a scene wondering what to do and where to go to next. Certainly not one of the best I've played
