For the first time, when I finished playing this game, I felt like I had just watched a good movie. I don't know if it was the good cut-scenes or just the overall flow of the game and how much I liked the story, but it played like a good film to me. That is refreshing. Nothing was overly difficult, I may have skipped one mini-game and used the hint two or three times on HO's but other than that it was smooth playing...probably around four hours, but I never time my games and never finish them in one sitting. This game was a nice change from the typical demon/ghosts/detective themes, most enjoyable!
Love Cate, she has a believable persona and Ben well, he is just dreamy to look at....as well as his other partner...hehe!
I played the sequel 1st and wish I would have gotten this one 1st, but thats the way sales go....
The game play is repititious and the HO;s can be hard to find, but to me the story and characters more than make up for it so I will not give less than five stars.
The music is relaxing and there are very brief voice-overs, I think they could have had complete voice instead of written dialogue, but that is just now beginning to get good in the newest games.
I really hope to see more Cate West....I have played many female lead HOG's, she is by far my favorite....dev's please keep them coming....but for gosh sakes, give the poor girl a new outfit next time...she wore the same one in both games...geeeesh!
Gamers, if you can catch both this and Velvet Keys on sale....I'd grab them up!
I am downloading the sequel to this game right now...well, not certain it is a sequel but it is the 2nd installment of Haunted Manor. I do not remember all of the details of this game as it has been a very long time since I played....I just remember it being one of my favorites for a good while. Some HOG's I don't even remember playing (chronic illness causes memory problems) so the fact that I remember this game being good, the mirrors and the souls he meets up with...tells you it is a good story!
Maybe you can catch in on sale for $4.99...since BFG runs great sales and pretty much around holiday weekends, so be sure to give this a try.
I love mixing up play between old and new games for variety and with all the specials these past few months I have about 30 games in a file called: HOG's not played yet....LUCKY ME!
I recommend this game!

Blood and Ruby
Use ancient magic, alongside your wits, as you hunt for your missing brother in a haunting city possessed by vampires!
Vampire stories are not my favorite, however, this game didn't show any blood except on some papers so I could deal with that. I purchased at a sale price and that effects my review...in other words, this was a good value for $2.99 as are many of the older games on BFG (they run fantastic sales btw).
This story was interesting to the point it had me trying to hurry a couple of times to get something done to save a situation from disaster. When a game can draw you in like that....it is doing something right! It also included a map that you could jump from scene to scene instead of backtracking and for an older game this was awesome....some of the newer games need to do the same. I really liked the characters in this story and how well they interacted.
Enjoyable game, especially at a discount price so give it a try!
I bought both Serpent of Isis and Journey Continues on the same day and on sale. I played the sequel right after finishing the first game. This was fun....since we usually wait so long for a sequel to get to BFG. I enjoyed the travel through Europe, the adventure of finding historically significant objects and the characters were all good, however, by the time I was about 2/3's through JC's....I was a bit tired of the story. Parts of it moved a bit too slow with quite a bit of dialogue; unfortunately not spoken. I did like the fact that the sequel switched from the main character, Robert to his sister for a while. Overall, I would say the games were above average for enjoyable, but probably not good enough so to replay, but then again.....I own over 100 HOG's and don't need to replay any for a very long time. Thanks to the great sales BFG runs, I have about 25 games in my yet to be played file.....Happy Gaming!!!!

Of the 100 or so games I've played over the past 1.5 years, there has been maybe two or three that made me laugh out loud....this is one of them. Really funny and fun to play. The characters and voice overs are top-notch and make the game what it is...story is ok, but it doesn't matter here because you are enjoying the zany people, plants and animals. I know this will be a replay for me...and that is the biggest down side to HOG's...I don't replay them, except for a couple.
Enjoy....
ps. Wonder how many people that played noticed the phallic symbols? Pretty obvious....what were the dev's thinking?

I knew this story would end the way it did....the dev's gotta make some more money on this story! Ok, I'm being a bit mean but the game was drug out with puzzle after puzzle after puzzle...come on! I will give credit that the puzzles (mini-games) were very creative and less technical and that was different/enjoyable....for a while, but after so many I was getting a bit bored. I also figured out other things in the game so there were no surprises for me... I enjoyed the last installment more than this one and probably won't buy the next. Maybe I am burning out a bit on this genre since so many people loved this....but I just feel as if this story is over already or should be. Sorry, I don't like being negative...but I am telling my true feelings about this game. Hope you like it more than me.

I played this game through to the end faster than all other match 3 games I've played. In fact, I have a couple that I never finished and may never get back to them. That's ok...I purchased a few M-3's my first few months of gaming to experiment, now I've learned to read reviews and to always play the demo. This one just dazzled me...from the bright glo-like gem colors to the iridescent flowers...wow! Also with a few HO scenes thrown in...this game has it all for me. I will probably look into more match 3's because of enjoying this one so much....try it, especially if you love flowers, building a garden and are new to match 3 games....this is an easy one and you get plenty of power ups to keep the boards moving at a quick pace! With all the great sales BFG offers I don't go back and replay games...in fact I have 45 in my 'haven't played yet file' but I may make an exception for this one, hope the gardens in Heaven look just like these.

I really enjoyed this game! And to think I had it for months before I got around to it....due to buying many games on sale! And interestingly, I was just sent the next installment of Fear For Sale: Sunnyvale Story, for beta testing. So I look forward to playing that too! This game flowed very smooth for me...I would say just the right level of difficulty/challenge for an intermediate player....hope you like it as well. Happy gaming...and you have just got to love BFG, they are the best company. I had bought so many games on sale that I can play a new one each day to get me through the holidays, being a chronic pain person my games are very important to me since I don't watch TV! (sorry to ramble on!) BE SURE TO TRY THIS GAME...ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A ROMANTIC AT HEART!

This is a fascinating story one that more developers could learn from in that they can take an awesome, if not well known book that was written (even long ago) and turn them into a great game. Yes, it is a short game as it took me between 3-4 hours and I play slow. Most HOG's take me 4 or 5 sittings to complete this one was done in 3 sittings....all around an hour or so....my eyes tend to blurr after that! Ho scenes and puzzles were all fairly easy, but the puzzles were unique so I didn't mind ease of play. I don't need a tough challenge to be entertained.
