The graphics are cute, but the game play is dull. A typical run around and collect things challenge but without any added interest. One to try before you buy for certain.
So slow, a game for those who like pretty graphics

I played the demo and found this game slow and boring. You spend ages just waiting for goods which are really slowly produced by factories. Even using the spells it takes ages. There's very little need for strategy and no need for time management.
If you want to potter around looking at the graphics and following a story then this is a game for you. If you like the speed, strategy and pressure of a good TM game then skip it.
Interesting game. To win you need to have the right strategy which takes some working out so not one for those that don't like that sort of thing. The ship battles I gave a miss, it does let you carry on without doing them all.
I love this series so was excited to see a new one and purchased it is straight away. However, they have ruined it completely. Most of the building plots are designated and the building is already upgraded. You build stuff, wait ages, buy and sell to many people, wait ages again and the level is complete. The element of strategy is missing.
It is way too easy. I didn't need to repeat a single level to get gold on every one, on the hardest setting.
There's a lot going on in this game to learn which makes it complex. However, i like that and i like a challenge. Great that you can speed it up. You need to balance health, wealth and food to get your town going. Lots of challenges and levels the play. The downside is there can only be one player. And even if you uninstall it your data is still there, so you can't play it again.
I love this series, but this one was the worst. I've played the earlier games over and over but I won't bother playing this again. The game play is pretty much the same as earlier episodes with a few new bits but it is not challenging at all. It lacks the complexity of earlier episodes and there are too may mine levels which are very basic. I thought after playing the demo that it would get harder as you go along, it does not. The levels feel very similar to each other. I got 3 stars on every level first time. I am shocked to find myself not recommending a game in this series.
I loved this game so much I played it twice in a row. It is a good paced game where you need to think. To get gold in all levels sometimes you have to not free some of the people or build some factories or clear some obstacles. You need a strategy and I love that.
This game feels old and I suspect it is just that. I don't usually care much about graphics but in this case you can't help noticing how old fashioned they are.
The game play is okay, nothing special, pretty much a basic standard resource game without any interesting twists.
All in all it just thrown together without much thought and certainly no love.
I'd suggest trying the demo and not paying CE price if you find the demo fun to play -wait for the SE and possibly a sale too! However there are better games out there if TM is your thing.
I don't recommend this game.

I liked Green City and this is exactly the same game with different building graphics. For example electricity is now called food and the zoo is now a forge - however the footprint, income and characteristics of the buildings remain the same.
There are one or very few winning solutions for each level and the aim of the game is to work out what that solution is and in which order to build it balancing food, happiness and income.
I wouldn't suggest this game for a beginner or casual player - maybe the first Green City is an easier introduction to the format.
The downside of this game is that it is slightly easier than Green CIty Go South and I like a challenge.
