One - I have 90 mins for a demo and finish in 35. Why offer that long if that's all you're going to give me? I skipped one game (the dodging spirits one). I do wonder what happened at the end of the game (since it's the last one) but I'm not about to drop my cash on it. Games are expensive now (used to cost me 8.99 now 11.25 (with discount) more otherwise. I can't afford to waste my money or time on such rubbish.
Also, why would the gold bird to open my bag be welded to a lantern at a hotel I 'have never visited before'? Why??? How did I pack the blooming thing? The HOPs were predictable, and like others have said it's so easy my three-year-old could do it. I still love the developers graphics but if this is the end of Haunted Hotel (and I have all the others), I'd probably be disappointed if I paid for this.
I have tonnes of match-3 games, honestly, tonnes. This one was just so meh with an additional awfulness of the sides of the picture flashing (bottom and right-hand side), and it gave me a headache in two minutes flat. It was an okay game, nice-ish graphics, didn't play long enough to experience a storyline, it was just that 'flash-flash-flash' doing my head in constantly. Gameplay was okay, also. The icons were nice and big, colourful, etc, and while you can move other tokens while they're still falling, the mechanics of this game were molasses-slow. Sorry, not for me.

When I first saw this game, I thought it was like the pixel-paint games we've all loved (and hated) in the past but to my surprise, it wasn't. It's so much better. Sure, the first few (including the mini tutorial) are easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy, but the harder ones boggle my brain. I'm about three-quarters of the way through the game, but I know that once I finish, I'll be starting again to best my deplorable times. An absolute keeper!
I love these games and have them all. My only nitpick is if we're paying for new games, please don't duplicate the pictures we've already played. The lion and the girl with the plait are from an earlier version. There have to be scads of pictures you can do, why rehash the old ones?
I won't go into major detail since others have already done that. But this game is lovely. Sure it's basic but you're painting by numbers, we don't need bells and whistles.
I should've clicked when I finished the demo with 40 minutes to spare. I bought the game and played only to find that it ended after an hour. So that's an hour and forty minutes for a CE? The game play wasn't what I expected either. There was little to no adventure just constant find this shape/amulet/animal whatever. Don't think I'll be buying the next installment.
I won't make a long review, I'm not great at it but there were a few things that annoyed me about this game. Just this one, the rest of the Nevertales games are awesome.
Spelling mistakes!!! In the Nowhere Tales section you hover the mouse over the staircase and it says 'Starecase'... Really? And then in the same part it says 'heands' for 'hands'... Someone needs to proofread the games before sending them out! Also, the female main character has an awfully nasal voice...
I'm still halfway through the game but I do like it. These mistakes shouldn't have got through though.
I usually love Mystery Tracker games but this one took the biscuit.
The Good: Great graphics, voiceovers good, protagonist had a sense of humour which was awesome. You have to use a lock device to open doors and it's a match three game, I liked that. Four times before I got bored of looking for the stupid inlays.
The Bad: Elf looks like he should be put down. I've never seen a dog walk (or limp) quite like that. We ignored the girl on the train even though she was visibly upset and found out the robed goons were after her.
The Ugly: I couldn't take the constant 'every time you find another thing you need more inlays or sigils to open them!!! TOO MANY!! Everything was multi-stage. EG; Your bag - The zip was rusty, you put oil on it. You still can't open it, you need the zipper thing itself, everything was just too silly. I don't know whether the producers were trying to make the game longer but it just frustrated me! And not only ONE inlay or sigil - MANY of them! Aaaagh!
I'm thinking that these devs made the Fear for Sale games as the graphics look the same and the game play is similar - correct me if I'm wrong - I was getting deja vu a little.
I love the story! Your Uncle Paul brought you up after your parents' tragic deaths when you were small. Although the concept of the story is not unheard of the way the devs designed the game is a whole new thing!
The mini games are well thought out and you also have the option of playing mahjong if you prefer - which I did - 25 out of the 26 hog games I played Mahjong! Good length of game about 4 to five hours - I can't really remember as I played over two days. Bonus game is about 2 hours but I took my time.
Lots of collectibles to get - 36 of them, 26 morphing objects and 33 puzzle pieces. Well worth the CE price in my opinion. Love this game! Would love to have another just like it!
I recommend this game!

This game does have massive potential but has a couple of things to let it down. I DO NOT like the fact that even though you can switch between custom and system cursor, the pointer actually doesn't change, it's still large and clunky no matter which option you choose.
Only 12 morphing objects? Really? We could be spoilt I suppose but I now expect more bells and whistles in a CE, not less. The graphics are good but seem a little clunky. I know they are hand drawn but it seems a little TOO cartoony - not sure if that's just me? Graphics need to be tighter so you can make out more detail, not hazy/grainy the way they currently are.
I don't get the butterfly....? It sits there in the right hand corner and it looks red but you pick it up and have to hover it around the screen to find where it turns red again before you can use it...hmmm...not sure about that. The point?
Apart from those negative things, the music is pleasant and the story is a good one but I just can't get past all the negative things and will not be purchasing this time.
