Played the original a lot when it came out. This is more of the same. The folks keep messing things up after the area has been cleaned so the housework seems to never get done! Best to start gathering the laundry as soon as you're in the door and hope you don't miss any. Should be more of a live-in housekeeper - they can't even make dinner. Lots of fun. Recommended for anyone who likes TM games.
I recommend this game!

Emerald City Confidential
Help Petra explore the seedy underbelly of Emerald City, and find Dee Gale’s missing fiancé. Mysteries abound in this dark tale.
Polished adventure game of about 8 hours. Story takes place about 40 years after Dorothy Gale takes her famous trip to the land of Oz. Things have certainly changed over the years. For one thing, everything seems green to some degree.
You play as Petra, a no-nonsense, determined ex-military investigator who sometimes just can’t get a break. Meet a cast of interesting characters, including the characters from OZ with whom you are already familiar. You pick up items here and there and use them to solve very clever puzzles. To travel, you go to the nearest Gump stand to be transported to your destination by the flying creatures. You are given a series of quests to solve and keep track of them in your journal. If you can’t figure out how to proceed in a quest, you can get progressively more helpful hints.
There is a lot of dialogue and the voice acting is superb (for the most part, at least) and you need to pay attention to get the backstory and plot. Since the dialogue doesn’t always repeat, you might miss an important fact if you click too quickly. Magic has been banned in OZ, but you will learn a few spells to help in your quests. Well-animated graphics. One problem I encountered was the game FROZE when Petra was leaving a stadium to arrange another “fight” using the banned magic. Looking at the forum, it seems to be a fairly COMMON PROBLEM and the developer should have found and distributed a fix by now. So, I just start over – at least it holds my interest again. But I did deduct 1 star for this major glitch.
About 3 ½ hours, although I’ve played it a couple times before, so it will likely be longer the first time you play, since I basically knew what to do this time. Help paranormal experts find the missing ruby heart diamond in 1931. Help them rid the ghost at Caldwold manor in England, a yeti in Germany, a reawakened mummy in Nacropolis, and finally visit Russia. Graphics and story are nice. HOS are fill-in the circles; objects will combine automatically on casual. Puzzles are varied and interesting, including riddles.
Gameplay is relatively easy on casual mode, as hints automatically are given in the conversations between the paranormals and the people being helped. Although there are 4 locations, there is no back and forth between them. Nelly is the practical, helpful and charitable one (she rescues a hamster before blowing up a cave) while Tom is a somewhat egotistical guy. Occasionally, there’s a sense of humor coming through, such as the snoring plants. The ending is a surprise for the villain (he lives, but that’s not the surprise).
I don't usually even try adventure games. Glad I tried this one - I really like it. It is a sad story and has sad music to set the ambience to match. I like that you can adjust the brightness as there are plenty of games which are dark on some computers, but not on others - so the adjustment can take care of that problem. You should find coins in the scenes, which are used later in the game to open chests you find. The graphics and locations are nicely done. There is a lot to do. Since game isn't linear, you can choose to go in several directions. Never at a loss of what possibilities exist - keeps the game moving at a good pace. I really like this game so far and want to find out what happens to the 2 main characters. Think I'll use a coupon since I've not played an entire adventure game of this sort - just in case my good thoughts don't last. Oh dear! If I continue to like it to the end, then that makes 3 kinds of games I have to buy.
The graphics on this game are just lovely and the game is very well developed. Skillful story, even though its premise is quite old. Lots and lots to do - even from the very beginning - and it stays that way. The map is a little unusual and quite refreshing in that it shows the location and you if move over the location, it tells you all the tasks that you have to complete for that location. Puzzles are many and varied in difficulty. Quite a delightful game.
Confront an ancient evil and uncover your true! After a startling revelation changes your world forever, you must embark on an epic journey to save mankind.
Great adventure with HOS thrown in. You collect and carry a lot (and I mean a lot!) of inventory items which will not be used until later. And there will be backtracking to use some of the inventory.
HOS are finely detailed, so it's not a problem finding things. Puzzles are varied in variety and in difficulty (also some will take a bit of time even though not very hard). Voice overs for the characters are natural sounding and very nice to listen to. You get a map of the approximate 24 locations, as well as a journal.
Hint system works in and outside of HOS. Casual mode has sparkles and it takes about 1 minute for hint to recharge (but there's so much to do that you won't notice that it takes that long). Harder mode takes 2 minutes for a recharge and there are no sparkles. Story is well developed for the heroine. Very substantial game.
The graphics in this game are breathtaking. The production values are terrific. The storyline is very well-crafted. Gameplay is fairly straightforward - not exasperating even though there are several avenues you can pursue at any one time. Very polished and decent voice overs. Even Snow White and her nemesis, the awful Queen, make appearances - so it's sort of a continuation of that story. Puzzles I found to be easy to figure out and, although some needed special pieces to complete, those pieces were not that far away. Bonus game features the alchemist and there are achievements (plus the usual wallpapers, replay of mini-games, et al). A true delight to play.
About 3 ½ - 4 hours, depending on how well you finish the last task. Has “Area Completed” notations, which I like so as not to waste time backtracking to nonproductive locations. There is a map which shows where you are and, if you move the mouse over it, will show you a picture of what is located where. However, it would be better if it were a fast-jump map. Diary has map, flowers you’ve collected, and clues. Hint isn’t too helpful except in HOS. Outside the HOS, it shows you a map of where you are and circles where you need to be. This is the 3rd time I’ve played this game, and got stuck more than the 1st two times – go figure.
Very pleasant voices, except that Jacob speaks too slowly. No way to speed him up, although you can skip the conversations (but you’d miss part of the story). There is a good interplay between Jacob, Anna and a little mysterious girl who seems to befriend Anna. Underwater scenery is very pretty and nicely detailed. Story is well put together and is continued in two additional Empress games.
This is quite a nice game if you like straight HOS and simple and easy puzzles with sprightly music. Graphics are nice. Gameplay is straightforward. Besides the normal HOS, there are postcards, mementos and gears to collect. There are 120 rounds (so it is lengthy) and 12 achievements (which are not difficult). I played Timed mode and there is still plenty of time to find things at your leisure. Although there is a lot in each scene, the objects are nicely delineated. Like the facts about Tokyo culture and the sites which make learning facts fun. Once in a while, I just want a simple HOS that I can pick up where I left off whenever I want.
Three modes: casual, advanced and hardcore professional. Journal; interactive map. Mechanical spiders with live actors create a mysterious atmosphere that grabs your attention right away. Storyline was more interesting and unique than I thought it would be; and it’s spot-on today as bullying is a hot topic these days.
Graphics are world class – usually the color palette is bluish cast for this type of story; here the colors are vibrant and worldly. Interactive HOS with useful hint system. Wide variety of puzzles with varying degrees of difficulty. Well thought-out story and gameplay. Not too much backtracking. Game will hold your interest throughout.
