I enjoyed not having to play against the clock, except for a few levels, yet there was still a challenge to complete a level within a certain number of moves. My main complaints are that only one person can play this game. There is no option to Change player. I can't even compete against myself to see if I've improved, All I can do is erase all my progress and start fresh. The 2nd complaint is that you are offered a chance to buy more stars, but no reason is given to do so, and as a matter of fact using your coins to buy stars makes no sense b/c only coins can be used to buy power-ups. Once I realized I needed coins not stars I stopped buying stars and had enough coins for all the power ups I needed.
I like solitaire games, especially if there are challenges at each level. When I tried the trial game this seemed to be the right kind. Unfortunately , after I paid for it I discovered that there was no way to use strategy as you played each level. What happened in one level was unrelated to the next levels, such as no power-ups or wild cards to be collected and saved for future levels. The game became very boring. I never finished it. Instead I bought Regency Solitaire the next day and was very happy with that game.
This was a very entertaining game because it involved strategy in order to meet each challenge. I played the "Normal" version first and enjoyed both the story line (a clever imitation of "Pride and Prejudice) and the increasingly challenging requirements for completing a round. The music was soft and pleasant . I then attempted the "Hard" version and was glad I did, as the challenges were more difficult so more planning and strategy were required to complete each level. There were a number of times I needed to repeat a level, but this allowed me to gain more wild cards and recharge my "power-ups". The game kept me thinking, yet was not so taxing as to become frustrating at all. The game also took a good enough time to complete, and can always be played again as the cards are dealt differently each time.
I'm sorry to say that this game just doesn't make the grade. Sometimes I like the strictly hidden object games, without the adventure, but this one is not at all engaging. We are always looking at exactly the same items, although their positions do change, and which we need to find varies. Nonetheless they are the SAME items in the SAME background. The music is boring as well. Also, the so-called competition with characters has nothing to do with how quickly you play the round. It is totally random whether your "mystery item" is more valuable than the character's. I only played about 10 mins. of the demo, but it was long enough to see that nothing changes.
I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this game. It remains interesting and challenging throughout. The story line is particularly interesting, especially in the manor in which it is told. I found the art work stunning as well. The variety of puzzles and tasks kept my interest and was a pleasant change from games that are repetitive. I played the Casual mode and found that by using the MAP feature I rarely needed the HINT button at all. There is a great deal of back and forth, but it is not tiresome when using the map. Some of the puzzles were a bit simple, like connect the dots, but it was fun to go back to my childhood and do them. Even those puzzles were varied. The only puzzle I skipped was the Chess puzzle. One of the best features of this game was it's length. It is the first SE game I've played in a long time that felt long enough and very satisfying. Although the story line is fantasy/fairy tale/adventure, there is little dark material and no spooky or violent features. I recommend this highly.
This is the best Match 3 game I have played in a very long time. It is different from most others in that each level is different from the last. The goal of each level varies and the "power-ups" vary as well. Every few levels there is a special round of a challenging HOG (with hints available) with the reward being a new "power-up". Also there are puzzle levels where you must put together an "artifact" whose pieces you have found in a series of Match 3 boards. These puzzles do have a SKIP button . After each level you get to spend the gold earned by rebuilding Athens and learning interesting facts about Athens and the Greek Gods. The BEST part is that you can play this timed or untimed and it is a very nice LONG game. There are lots of great explosions and surprises during each Match 3 board. Oh yes, there are rewards to get for various achievements and when you finish saving Athens you can continue to play in "Palace mode". My only complaint is that the game tends to quit suddenly during this Palace Mode. I haven't written a review of a game in a long time, but this one is so well done and so engaging I just had to let folks know that it is worth trying and then buying! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

If you like Logic games, this is for you. It is a set of increasingly challenging grid puzzles that are engaging and stimulating to the mind. There is no time limit so I never felt pressured, and when I got stuck there were plenty of "power-ups" to use as hints. The background story is not at all important to me, and the occasional mini-games were annoying for me. However, some will find those a nice break and they can be skipped after a short time. I find myself coming back to this game almost daily to do one of the more advanced puzzles. No matter how many times you do these puzzles, they always take some thinking. The grids that constitute each puzzle go from a very easy 5 x 5 to a very challenging 25 x 25. Enjoy!
This game was very enjoyable. It is so delightfully different from the usual HOG, yet quite challenging and engrossing. At first I got confused about going back and forth through the mirrors, but I soon learned to click on the hint button to get directed to the proper place. Each of the chapters was a complete game of its own and the end of a chapter was a good place to stop. The game is long and lots of fun.

Maybe I am missing something, but I could not figure out how I was supposed to know what to do next. It became a game of trial and error for me, but I never caught on. This is not really an HOG, it seemed to me to be just walking back and forth on a path and never achieving anything. Maybe I wasn't in the mood, but I was very disappointed. HOG are my favorite games, but not this one.
I don't recommend this game.

I really enjoyed this HOG, although at first glance I was skeptical. The cut scenes were not great, and the story line was weak, but the game itself was surprisingly challenging with lots of features rarely seen in other HOGs. There is a hint button which will reveal a hidden object as expected, but when I wanted help on how to solve a puzzle or where to go next, the hint button only gave me very general directions. This made the game challenging and made me think. I found that I was soon able to figure out the puzzle and the next step. The MAP feature was VERY helpful telling you what task needed to be done in each location and also telling you when that location was finished. The game lasted longer than I expected and I was pleasantly surprised each time a new chapter began. There is NO skip button for the puzzles, but there is one for the cut scenes. Usually I hate games with no skip button for puzzles, but these puzzles were challenging yet NOT impossible. I found that a little logical thinking led to the solution quickly enough. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
