I found this game to be rather easy, but it has so many unique features and I had such fun playing, I gave it five stars! The hidden object scenes and most of the realm are ghostly and subdued, however the artwork is lovely and I had no trouble identifying objects. There are a lot of rooms to explore and a lot to do within each one, but it is made very clear once a task or an area is complete. Scenes exist in the present but allow you to travel back into the past and interact with objects you will need in the future when you travel back to the present. Confused? Well, you won't be when you start playing this fabulous game! The Bonus Chapter of the Collector's Edition is pleasant but not relevant to the main story. All it really does is set the scene for the sequel. Can't wait!
I recommend this game!

Wow, what a great story! The graphics, animations and voice acting kept me in suspense until the last minute. There are a lot of scenes within the game and a quite a bit of traveling back and forth. It really required careful exploration and attention to detail but I felt it all had a sense of purpose rather than the aimless wandering some games seem to have. There is a map that lays out the floorplans and highlights areas of interest. The hidden object scenes are well done and I found most of the puzzles quite challenging. Expect the unexpected around every corner!

I thoroughly enjoyed this game! At a little over four hours it was longer than a movie and shorter than a book, but for me it had elements of both. Although it is not a pretty game, the graphics are appropriate to the story and very clear. I found the hidden object scenes a lttle more challenging than other games I have played. Many items are only partially exposed instead of being out in the open. There are hints available for the hidden object scenes, and a help and a skip button for the rest of the puzzles. A journal keeps track of the story. In addition, a map highlights areas where actions can be taken. But, there is no hand holding here! You have to figure things out on your own. Where this game really shines is in the story. The voice overs and characters get you involved and there are enough twists and turns to keep it fresh and interesting. Game on!.

I really enjoyed playing this one. The hidden object scenes were artfully done and challenging without being frustrating. I love taking extra steps to find objects. Some were quite clever little riddles. Unlocking areas by solving a variety of puzzles and the use of earned and collected inventory items was great fun as well. Keep a sharp eye out for useful items. They turn up in unexpected ways and in odd locations! I thought the music and voice acting were really good. The characters seem a little tense, but overall the artwork is terrific. I happened to buy the Collector's Edition on sale. Love those sales, Felix! The bonus game is not essential to the central story but is a well rounded chapter that takes you to more great locations and deeper into the story. I think either edition is a good value. Game on!
I recommend this game!

I was charmed by the first game in the Empress of the Deep saga and was really looking forward to playing the next chapter. This game has many of the elements that made the first game so enjoyable, an intriguing story, beautiful graphics and a haunting soundtrack. There are wonderful and unexpected areas to explore but for me this sequel did not have the freshness and mystery of the first game. I felt there was too much direction and this often spoiled my sense of discovery. The hidden object scenes were rummage sale piles and I found most of the puzzles repetitive and overly simple. I expected more from this encore.
I recommend this game!

This is a good game that falls short of being great and it is a shame because of all the things it does so well. Before I begin grumbling, let me be clear, I fully intend to continue supporting this series and look forward to playing the sequel! The graphics are terrific, but some of the beautiful scenes are barely used. You go in, get what you need and get out. Fortunately this is not always the case. There is quite a bit of traveling between locations but I found it pretty easy to navigate and I am directionally challenged. Most of the puzzles and tasks make perfect sense within the context of the story but a few seem unnecessarily complicated. I resorted to a walkthrough at one point and was still left scratching my head. I appreciated the voice acting but how did Scarlett O'Hara wind up in jolly old England? The biggest disappointment for me was the final scene is gone in a flash. Hey! All that drama leading up to the big moment and suddenly the credits are rolling. For shame. Even standard editions should come to a satisfying conclusion. I will give the next game in the series a try. I just hope it will not become the bane of my existence.
I recommend this game!

This game had just the right amount of challenge for me. I think it has a great story, and the graphics are just right for a swashbuckling, undersea adventure! There are interesting characters to interact with and although I did wish they could speak for themselves, the written dialogue provides enough drama. Make sure to read all the threats and advice offered by your ghostly foes and mates! There is a journal with a handy map and a clue section to keep you on track and your tasks and travels are pretty clear. The inventory gets to be quite large at times but be patient, there is a time and a place for everything. Set sail and enjoy this great hidden object and puzzle adventure!

What a magical, mystical adventure! I enjoyed the story and moody soundtrack, and I felt the voice acting was quite good as well. The graphics were lovely but I did have trouble identifying the last one or two objects in almost every hidden object puzzle. Sometimes the scenes seemed to be filled with random junk and several items were not drawn clearly. The hint system is generous and refills quickly so this is a minor complaint. On the plus side I had a ball with the other puzzles and traveling about this unusual world. This is not a long game but it will certainly give you a full evening of enjoyment!
I recommend this game!

This is an unusual game and I strongly suggest you TRY BEFORE you buy to make sure this game is for you. I found it the most challenging game I have ever played. Luckily for me, I purchased the Collector's Edition. I never would have made it back home without it. Despite the difficulty I found every aspect of the game fascinating. It was weird at times, often very disturbing, but I just took my time and rolled with the punches. I liked the morphing object searches. I usually have trouble with them in other games where they pop up randomly but I had no problem identifying them in the scenes. The artwork is extremely well done. The live action and voices are terrific and really drew me deep into the story. This game depends a LOT on visual recall. You will not only need to remember where you have been, but the graphic details of each scene. Personally, I found the picture based Strategy Guide a real asset. If you do better with written instructions and logical problem solving this game may be frustrating. My advice, take your time, have a good look around in each environment as it opens up to you, be prepared for the unexpected, make the off the wall decision now and then and settle down to a long and bumpy night. Game on!

Be warned, there is a lot of murder and mayhem in this one. Faint of heart need not apply! But oh, is it fun! The ratio of puzzles to hidden object scenes is just right. The voice acting and animation sequences really move the story along. It has a diary to help you keep track and you will need it, there is so much going on. I never had to resort to a walkthrough or strategy guide but I did rely on the hint button to show me the way a few times and some of the puzzles were pretty hard for me. Treat yourself to the Collector's Edition. You will not want to miss out on the final chapters.
I recommend this game!
