When I purchase a game, I generally write a review for the completed game. Since this one might take me about a year to finish...I'll go ahead and do it now.
Runefall is really fun! It's complicated for a match 3 game, has all sorts of stuff going on all over the place...and it is BIG. I'm playing in relaxed mode, taking my time and finding it really enjoyable.
For years, Barton Mansion sat abandoned, a haunting reminder of an obsession gone wrong. But something sinister still lurked there...and it's stirring.

I just couldn't get into this one...couldn't even make it through the trial. It just didn't capture my interest.
The game play felt simplistic and yet was tedious. While the story could have been interesting, it just didn't create a vivid enough picture to draw me in. Normally I don't complain about the "colors" but the pink and blue here really were pretty awful. And the music! Nearly put me to sleep.
I'm on the hunt for a new game and was hoping this might be it. But, no. Still looking...

My review is only for the trial because I won't be purchasing the Collector's Edition this time.
Get this to unlock that, so you can get this and unlock the other thing to get something else. Who locks up tweezers with an intricate lock? I don't - and when they make me do that in a game, I get tired.
The story has been done a lot recently. While the art is pretty well done and the music is OK, there just isn't enough to sink my teeth into here. The H.O. scenes are OK but pretty simple as are the mini-games I ran into. I'll revisit the S.E. when it's released if I have an available coupon...but that's about as far as I'll go with it. Try it for yourself.
I don't recommend this game.

I've had this game for a while but wasn't in the mood for pirates and skeletons. Just got through it now. Oh, my. What a GREAT game. I think that this is probably the best game from Big Fish that I ever played.
The story is engaging. The artwork is gorgeous. The music fits every scene perfectly. The characters are wonderful with the mild exception of the daughter...she's a little bit whiny. The tasks make sense. The game has a lovely flow to it that just keeps it moving pleasantly.
Get this one if you haven't already. Totally worth every minute!
I quite enjoyed this game. I was in the mood for something a bit lighthearted and this fit the bill quite nicely. There is a lot to do but rather than feeling tedious, it kept my interest by having varied activities cropping up. There were some interesting puzzles and the HO scenes were fun.
My only criticism is that although the music was pleasant it was too repetitious. More variety in the music would have been nice.
That said, I had several enjoyable hours with Love Chronicles: A Winter's Spell CE.
I was really in the mood for something simple and relaxing with a pleasing environment, so this game fit the bill quite nicely. It is easy and flows along without much effort. No track shoes needed here.
The artwork was quite well done, each scene was interesting. The music got a bit boring after a while...and the "TaDa!" at the end of every puzzle or HO scene became so predictable that I was singing it myself.
I'm in the camp of those who were a bit disappointed with the ending, especially since it was based on a true story. I don't want to have to make up an ending that apparently actually - really happened and sort of feel that the CE should have advertised itself as the "complete story"...not a complete game with a "bonus".
Those minor complaints aside, I had a nice relaxing time playing this game and would recommend it if that's the kind of thing you're looking for.
Just got finished with this and I quite enjoyed it. I've been critical of this developer lately - there's been way too much running back and forth to the point where I lose interest...but not this time. The gameplay was logical and progressed well and it all flowed with the story.
The art, music and all of that stuff was typically well done. It was on the creepy side without being too gross.
I loved the "Help" character with his plague mask. Made me laugh.
This was a pretty fun game. Not overly challenging but I enjoyed it. On the plus side I liked the twist on the story - that burning the paintings brought the art to life and that the kidnapped brother's talent was needed to create the "monsters".
The adventure aspect was very light and while the running back and forth came close - it stopped just this side of tedious. The map was required. I did not get mad and throw the mouse!
The artwork was nice - all the settings were interestingly rendered, and I enjoyed taking my time to check out the scenes.
A few negatives though...The music got really, really boring. The same music played throughout nearly the entire game. Really?
Worse, though, there were some technical glitches that bugged me. As the game went along, the black screen between scenes seemed to become longer. That got boring. And as another reviewer noted, the sound failed entirely for the last - and culminating -scene. Points off for that. I bought this long after any patch would have been provided. I have to assume, no fix was made. Not cool.
Despite those complaints, I do recommend the game...while not a groundbreaking winner - it was kind of fun.
I recommend this game!

If the theme of this game suits you - Magic and Spells and all that stuff, I highly recommend that you get this game. I had a great time playing it.
It's not difficult but you certainly are kept busy and it's an entertaining "busyness"! The story is just fine and holds together well during your progress. The artwork is well done, the scenes are interesting. The music was O.K., too.
The game is quite long so you certainly are getting your money's worth with this C.E...and I do recommend the C.E. in this case because the bonus chapter completes the ending in a satisfying way.
It's a well put together game and I enjoyed every minute of it. If you like this genre...I say go for it!
I've waited until the developer got the "fix" patched into the game to make up my mind about it. But now that the game is finally actually complete, I'm still undecided.
The game just feels stiff. The characters ARE completely stiff...and they just zoom in to tell you what to do. And they ask you to do quite odd things - from right in the beginning...
I love the idea of things - like how the water flows all over, so I suppose what I like is the scenery...but not the game itself. Unlike the lovely water, there's no flow to it.
Some of the puzzles I ran into were interesting, I kind of liked those but not enough to get through the rest.
It's unfortunate that the game was released in its flawed state. Without the magnifying glass/gear comments, it was a tough slog and we missed some of the interesting features they pointed out.
Now that the game is repaired, however, it is not improved except perhaps in the difficulty aspect. It's certainly not improved enough for me to purchase this Collector's Edition.
