Back three and a half years ago when I reviewed Jewel Match 2 I gave it 5 stars and called it a very good M3 game. Now reloaded is out and I am giving it 5 stars again. The hated “rocks” are gone and the game is similar but not a copy. This is just about my idea of the perfect M3. The screens are different and present different challenges, some big screens and some small ones, the backgrounds are colorful, the gems turn and sparkle, and there are plenty of power ups to earn all of which make the game fun. I found it to be as addictive or more addictive than the original. I had very few quibbles with the game, to show you how much I liked it I will say that one problem to report is that a couple of levels had red heart jewels and reddish orange square jewels, both of which turn and sparkle and were the cause of many mistakes where a match was not really made. Another quibble was that there were only 200 levels. I am ready for more.
I recommend this game!

I played this game for quite a time and decided that it was too much “cookbook” or following a recipe to be fun. It seemed to have all of the elements of a steep learning curve with multiple objectives and ghosts and powerful weapons and collecting money and everything like that which should have made it interesting, but strangely it just was not fun. I was able to function without too much worry about how to play, but it seemed like I was constantly being told to do this or do that. I got tired of being told to do things. Somehow, the fun of the game never materialized. It was sort of OK but just more work than fun.

I spent two minutes reading about limited moves, and how to play. You have to do this and that and the other and I realized that this game was designed to be difficult and not fun. I deleted it without even playing it. The instructions alone were an absolute turn off. This game appears to be aimed at the OCD expert player and not at casual players.

I failed at level one and could not understand why. I tried again and won, still with no idea why. I failed on level two and did not know why. My biggest why questions are why no instructions and why no help. A screen when I first started gave me a goal but no real instructions and after that there were no offers of help except a road map of how I should have played the level, but not what I did wrong. Maybe if I understood how to play it might have been worth buying.

To be concise, if you liked the first game, this seems like nothing but a continuation. I found the times to be ridiculously short for maximum stars, but if you relax and play, it does flow nicely. One problem I had was building up a plot and then being unable to find something hidden behind it, like a merchant.

I am always excited when this company releases a new game and I bought this one after only a 10 minute demo. This is a different tower game with a different theme but all of the familiar, recycled, villains and weapons, all by different names. The game before this employed traps and just didn’t have the same panache or fun quotient of the tower games. Here they fixed that. They also made this game really tough. Possibly too tough; that remains to be seen. I had to replay the first level of the second group four times to get three stars. Even the initial level took three tries. When you begin to lose, sometimes you just have to completely change your strategy. The artwork is rather dark, in color and mood, and the steam punk theme seems to work.

I do enjoy a good M3 game, but this was not a good M3 game. The only plus I noticed was a snazzy intro and some decent graphics. The negatives include timed play and inscrutable goals with targets to acquire this item or that by making or using so many of something and finally your head swims trying to understand what you are trying to accomplish. The authors succeeded in creating a very confusing game with no clear goals and unrewarding play. Frankly it became boring. I used 53 minutes to decide that this game could cure insomnia. Maybe someone else can find something nice to say or a reason to buy this game, but I cannot. When the one power up I had earned, snake ball, was charged and ready, it looked exactly like when it was not charged. Why?

I went through the first half dozen levels after initially seeing the game and I believe that it will be like the previous Weather Lord games. I consider them to have all been worth playing so far and I have the expectation that when I have more time, I shall enjoy this game too. You still manipulate the weather for your own desires on each level and you still have buildings to build, as with previous games. This game may not be great, but is seems to be worth playing. I might add that I have run out of time on two levels so far. I could still finish but I got no award; not that I care. So for the other lovers of untimed games, this should not be an impediment to enjoying the game.

It appears, from reading the early reviews, that this M3 strikes people in different ways. Some hate the game and some think it is great; polar opposite opinions. While each M3 plays a bit differently, I have enjoyed the first 40 levels tonight. Some levels were difficult as I tried to create the situation I needed to complete the level and some were absolutely done before I knew it. I miss the explosions of bombs because this is a kinder, gentler game, but it has still been fun to play. If I had my druthers, I’d have opted for more explosions and different pictures to match because the lavender wellies just don’t impress me. I have yet to do much with the ‘garden’, but I may do that later when the M3 game is over. This seems to be a game which you need to play for an hour to figure out whether you like or hate it.

Hero of the Kingdom was one of the best games I have played, and there are only a handful in that category. I am probably half way done now, just set sail on the ship, and Hero of the Kingdom 2 is a bit better than the first one. I don’t know what genre it really fits into, but it seems to be an odd bird with strategy and hidden objects combined. It seems to appeal to more intelligent people because it does require thought at times and planning, but together all of the elements work well. The plot isn’t too demanding to understand, quite the opposite, but the game play is one long series of quests often overlapping with one another. I have a hard time stopping to eat or sleep. It is that good. The game is quite long, so plan to be entertained for a long time.
