This game was fun to play, but I must say it was extremely easy so I highly recommend this for a beginner. It is a really short game. Wish it had been longer. There was so much potential that the developers missed.
For a SE it had things I like in a game: -- No technical issues! -- List HOS, but they were way too easy; everything was easy to see. -- There is an interactive map which shows scenes that have things to do and it transports you there -- one of my favorite ideas from developers. -- The hint button recharges quickly, but I confess I really didn't use it. -- Very pretty graphics. -- Nice music and appropriate for this game. -- The puzzles were very easy, so I don't think I skipped too many. I usually have trouble with puzzles, but most of these had very clear instructions and were easy to finish.
I don't think this will be enough challenge for hard-core "experts", but I consider myself an expert and I liked it just fine. Sometimes it's nice to have an easy game.
I recommend this game!

Dark Dimensions: Somber Song Collector's Edition
Townspeople flee as the black smoke covers their town. Can you close the dark dimension, before it’s too late?
I always play the demo and read some of the reviews. I guess I wasn't paying attention because I bought this and hate it! I played this game in the casual or easy mode. I didn't complete the game.
It has a interactive map which I liked. It has pretty scenery, well some of it is. I didn't pay much attention to the music.
I was lost shortly after starting this game. Just not a good enough story to pull me along in the game.
I love HOS, but I soon began to dread the sparkly area because I knew I was going to have to go to the Guide to help with the HOS. What? I pride myself in going down a list to find objects without using the hint button. (I'm OCD#. The hint button was of no use in these HOS -- I had to use the GUIDE! How embarrassing. I hated the HOS. Did I make myself clear - I HATED THE HOS!
Another thing that irritated me was the collecting of torn music sheets of which I have no idea their use #I am not planning to complete this game#. First you pick it up, then you have to touch it a 2nd time before it goes into a stored area. What a useless thing to do.
My advice is to play the demo for the full time #I have a feeling I didn't). I don't recommend this game and especially not for a beginner.
I also plan to check out the forum. I have a feeling there is more information there.
I don't recommend this game.

Dark Parables: Jack and the Sky Kingdom
Stop the disaster caused by the Sky Kingdom and save the day!
So sad. I really wanted to love this game but didn't.
I played the demo in casual mode. Used lots of hints because I wasn't sure what all these pretty objects I collected added to the storyline which is to help Jack get to the floating kingdom via a bean stalk. Where have I heard this story before?
HOS are standard find pretty objects to complete a whole. Map included showing where to go next, but you have to find your own way there -- no instant transport. Music and sound were lovely. Graphics were pretty but a bit childish. Hint button charges quickly (lucky for me). Skip button slows down recharging of hint.
I always suggest playing the demo before purchasing any game. This one just didn't keep my attention or interest. Won't be purchasing it even though it's on sale today.
I don't recommend this game.

True Fear: Forsaken Souls Collector's Edition
What if everything you knew about your life, everything your family ever told you, turned out to be a lie?
I really, really wanted to love this game, but alas I didn't. I thought the warning was true -- false. While it is an adult themed game, it just fell very short of scaring me.
This game seemed to offer all I like in a game, i.e, there's a great map that shows areas to be worked and you are transported to the location; the hints are standard in HOS and directional or shown in play; there is a guide which is ok, but not as detailed as others I've used; there is a storyline and clues section of the diary which I used all the time, as I was really lost most of the game and bonus play.
There will be a sequel to this game. Don't be disappointed if you still wonder what the heck just happened when you finish as I did.
This game could have been so much cleaner. While I didn't really have any technical issues I did have issues with some of the grammar and description of some objects in the HOS. I hate it when the description says cup and there is a cup in the scene but it wants the chalice -- just picky about that type of stuff.
I hope they clean this up and I hope their next installment is better. Better yet let me beta test the next installment.
Whew!! That was a long game! It was by far the longest SE I've ever played and I've played over 70. I enjoyed ever minute of play -- even when I got frustrated over a puzzle. Thank you BF for the wonderful walkthroughs you provide.
This game has it all -- great directional hints that actually teleport you to the scene without recharging; a terrific map (of which I didn't use much because I used to the hint# which teleports you to the scene you touch; great looking HOS which aren't too hard -- everything is hidden in plain sight; special puzzles, of which I didn't have to skip too many; extreme puzzles, with a special hint button that gives details of the next move; and a Black Diary where you have to solve puzzles to complete puzzles in the main game.
I read many of the reviews, both highs and lows. I must say I agree with both. I understand the frustration of the people who rated it low. But I enjoyed this game even though I was lost most of the time and relied greatly on the hint button and the walkthrough.
I learn by playing hard games, like this, so in the future I can more easily play similar puzzles without aid of hints or walkthroughs.
This is a beautiful game, albeit creepy. I highly recommend this game for all but the very young. My next step is to buy the CE #when next it goes on sale).
I recommend this game!

Hidden Mysteries: The Forbidden City
Uncover the Hidden Mysteries in the Forbidden City!
I enjoyed this game very much. It's very easy so I would recommend it to a beginner. The scenery and music are great.
The story is a girl searching for her father who has been searching for some hidden treasure.
This is a little different from other HOGs in that there aren't many standard HOS but each scene has FOGS (fragmented object game scenes). You must find the fragmented parts to form a whole and then it goes into your inventory where you can use it in the current scene or another near by. The area is outlined where to use an object from inventory.
The hint button shows where objects are or ,if the scene is complete, it tells you there is nothing left to see here. The hint button recharges a little slower than I like, but not too bad.
There are several puzzles, unfortunately I skipped most of them, but the instructions are pretty clear and it doesn't take long for the skip button to recharge.
I'm definitely going to try the many other Hidden Mystery games. Try this one and I think you too will be curious about the other.
I can't find any flaws with this game.
I recommend this game!

Silent Scream II: The Bride
Jessica would never imagine that her big day would turn out to be a nightmare; they had an accident and Jonathan McNealy, her husband is missing.
After demoing Silent Scream: The Dancer, and hating it, I almost didn't try this game. I am so glad I did.
I don't believe I've enjoyed playing any game as much as I did this one.
It's about a "Cinderella" marriage - girl marries rich guy and they are on their way to his mansion for their honeymoon. What happens next is a true mystery. I was pulled through game. I just couldn't stop playing until I got to the end, which was 3:00 a.m.
The HOS are very easy and some of the puzzles are very hard, but there is a skip button #I love a skip button#.
The hints are the usual in the HOS and directional during game play. The hint recharges quickly in the easier of the 2 modes.
The music is haunting and matching the story, which is a mature theme, not recommended for children.
The developers have cleaned up their act so now you can pick up objects as you find them like in other HOGs. Some objects still have to be merged, but it's much cleaner in how its done -- there is a merge button.
I loved the scenery and the voiceovers were okay #but no lips moved#.
I wasn't expecting the ending. This one got me.
Best game of intrigue I've played lately. Play the demo and I think you'll be surprised at how this game really keeps your attention.
The game moves very fast, so even a beginner would enjoy this game.
I recommend this game!

Silent Scream: The Dancer
You, as Jennifer, have to solve a perplexing mystery and save her only daughter in Silent Scream: The Dancer!
This is an adult themed game, definitely not for children. Talk of the Mafia, a kidnapping, someone getting knocked over the head with a pipe -- no, no, no, not for children.
I played the 60-minute demo, well only 49 minutes. I liked the HO scenes. I thought they were medium-hard, with they being more medium than hard, but not easy. That's all I liked about this one.
I found this game so very frustrating. I'm used to seeing hands to pick up something for inventory -- wrong. In this game, just because you see something, you can't pick it up until you need it -- of course, in a different scene. So it's back and forth and back and forth.
I strongly suggest you play the demo before purchasing. I did and won't be purchasing at half off the price.
Come on developers - please play by the rules. Show hands -- pick up object for inventory. I think its a law -- well maybe not, but it should be.
I don't recommend this game.

Mystery Case Files®: Escape from Ravenhearst™ Collector's Edition
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
As suggested I played the 60 minute demo before taking advantage of BF half price on collector editions. I really wanted to get this game, but after the first 30 minutes I was tired and disappointed.
I love morphing objects, but not as a substitute for hidden object scenes.
Again, what is it with MCF not letting people use hints at a reasonable refresh rate.
Oh yes, and don't get me started about the strategy guide -- what a joke. There are pictures only and not like other games where there is a explanation and screen shots.
I guess there are a lot of players out there who really like a challenge like this -- I'd rather have a colonoscopy -- well maybe not, but...
Luckily BF gives you the opportunity to play before you pay.
I don't recommend this game.

I'm Too Old To Wait 2 Minutes for the Hint to Recharge!
I wanted to buy this game (I had a free coupon) but decided to play it first (60 minutes). I got so frustrated in the HOS (which are repeated) because everything is grayish/green and objects are too well hidden and teeny tiny.
I'm 64 and homebound so I spend lots of time playing HOGs. This one got on my last nerve.
The hint button only works in the HOS and then it takes 2 minutes for it to recharge. Also the hint shows a general area and I still had a hard time finding the objects.
The mini games have no instructions but I was able to skip them (eventually#, but since I only played 60 minutes I didn't have too many to play!
This game is for someone with a lot of patience -- I have none when it comes to HOGs.
I like games that give a challenge, but this one was too challenging for me.
I was surprised there wasn't a BF walkthrough. I think if there had been I might have purchased the game just for the expert experience.
I prefer games that have free hints #that recharge quickly) for both HOS and directions. This doesn't have a map, which is something I also prefer.
Most games offer 2 or 3 types of level of experience. I guess since this was done so long ago those options weren't common.
This one just doesn't do it for me, but you be the judge. BF is a great gaming center and the 60 minute free play is a great benefit.
