I love playing these games. Very challenging, difficult to figure out, yet not stressful like so many timed "race through me" games.
Unfortunately, the graphics are truly dreadful. They look drawn by a 12-year-old with a marker. And what do you win? A few less drips? Seriously?
Because of this I have never purchased any version. Just can't stand looking at them. Maybe they should hire the artists from Jewel Match or any number of other games.
I don't recommend this game.

Beautiful soothing graphics and just the right amount of difficulty. Story line is a little different as well.
Quite enjoyable.

The script in this was extremely irritating to me. The plot even more contrived and the characters way too predictable. No surprises whatever.
Game play was standard and would have been doable if the characters would just quit talking.
Definitely have no interest in a purchase. Had a hard time bringing myself to finishing the trial.
I don't recommend this game.

I realize that this Palace series of Jewel Match can be a bit "9 year old Princess", but this is so tacky (Baroque marries Rococo) it was almost insulting.
First off, there is really only one Versailles like scene with several building. The joy of all the Jewel Match games has always been the beautifully constructed scenic atmosphere that you create full of thunder, fireflies, smoking torches, waterfalls, sailing ships, moonlight, sunsets and so much more. Jewel Match Twilight (still one of my all time favorite games) is almost a work of art. The Palais version is gaudy and yet all the same. Opening with so many cutesy birds why bother winning stars and adding the hideous peacocks and even more birds but not much else. You often have to complete an entire round just to win a single curtain panel or tiny door filigree on a stupid carriage, perhaps a tiny garden pedestal of which you will need 6 or more. An obvious attempt to prolong the game without adding any value. Game play slows to a boring crawl. Even the music is annoying rather than soothing so I turned it off early on.
In short, this game seems like a cheap and lazy attempt for the manufacturers to make money on a quick turn around. I felt cheated to the point that I am not even sure I can endure playing the entire game. Such a sad statement for what is usually a delightful experience.
I don't recommend this game.

The artists truly created a lovely world in this one. Enjoyed looking at it. The game play was somewhat challenging and adjustable, which was extra nice.
Too bad half of the voice overs were so very bad that I almost wanted to turn off the sound at times.

Jewel Match Twilight is one of my all time favorite games from Big Fish. But not because of the game play. There are literally dozens of these kind of match three games. While entertaining they were just a fun way to get to the stunning visuals.
The depth of imagination in those scenes, complete with lightning skies behind moonlight mansions, pumpkins patch farm fields, the Halloween Carnival complete with ambient light effects... so amazing. I could almost hear the water lapping the witches boat in the swamp. Something none of the somewhat repetitive castle themed games, though nice, quite matched.
So I am quite leery of this new version. The demo is not up to par as it falls more into the lower quality castle realm. Also, the picture samples from the ad look pretty mundane and all the same scene.
I really wish someone who has played the entire game and appreciates the difference between the eerie beauty of the Twilight art and the nice but not quite as original Royal series would make a comparison.
Until then, based only on the demo, this is no match for the original Twilight or even the better Royal series games. So I will not bite.

This game could have been great and it is still good. It is much more complex than the usual "bejeweled/gummy drop " games and I loved that. But the rewards are more similar to a time management style game which is not what I enjoy in this type of game. I love building beautiful worlds and these are anything but. Just a bunch of cartoons.
So a bit disappointing, but overall, a challenging game.

I will preface this with the warning that this game will not be for everyone. If you expect to whip through every scene with the greatest of ease, look elsewhere. If you frustrate easily and do not like going back and forth to solve the problem, ditto.
However, if you want lovely graphics, a kind and beautiful story, a good stiff challenge, and lots of little hidden fun look no further. This is one of the best in years, and oh so different from the pack.
As some have mentioned this is related to the Drawn series. It was one of my favorites so I have been waiting for another for a long time, and the demo, at least, does not disappoint. Plus, I love dogs... so rescuing them just comes naturally.
So give the demo a go and try to breath if you get frustrated. Like so much in life, the best things do not come too easily.
I recommend this game!

I ordinarily won't compare games but as the game play on this is virtually identical to Jewel Match Twilight, I must say I was disappointed.
The Royal Match graphics are very standard and they totally miss the haunting beauty and nighttime magic of its predecessor. Creating the Twilight world was mesmerizing . "Royal" graphics are nice and similar to the earliest Jewel Match games, but there are no surprises or at least not in the demo, and I had no desire to explore them further as it has all been done so often before.
The story was the standard teenage girl dream of my best friends, a poor boy who risks his life and labors years to accumulate wealth to be worthy of me, the princess and heir to the throne. While some consider this romantic, "My slave for life" doesn't appeal to me at all. Now he must labor many more years to build castles and work his way up in the "peerage".
And then there is the music, which again is mundane to the point of irritating rather than the Harry Potter styled tunes that linger and bewitch as in the Twilight version of jewel match..
The game itself has added a few new twists such as bugs that need to be moved in order for needed items to drop out the bottom. That was fun and different but ultimately not enough to save the game as I really didn't care to finish the pretty but uninspired castles. Perhaps they get better if you purchase the game. I felt the jewel icons to be so "busy" they made the game harder to play as they did not read as quickly.
Certainly if you love fairytale love stories and princess castles you may love this game. And ultimately playing the demo is the best way to determine your own personal preference. But as Royal Jewel Match is in essence identical to Jewel Match Twilight, I would never choose this over the other.
I don't recommend this game.

I sometimes wonder exactly for whom these games are designed. In this one a girly princess sets out on foot into a murky swamp to fight what I assume is avenging frog prince and save her pox-cursed family. All in her silks and satins, mind you. Not much thought given to the rest of the kingdom.
For me this was just a silly kids game full of often cartoonish animation. The games are too difficult for a 12 year old, and I cannot imagine even my 21 year old daughter enjoying such a childish fairy tale. It is not badly done and there is really nothing wrong. The games are not challenging but often take some time to complete.
The reviews show that there is an audience for this, and luckily you have the demo to try out. However this is definitely not a keeper for me.
I don't recommend this game.
