I LOVED the series at the very beginning... but it has progressively become a total let down. This last game, in particular, was such a disappointment !
Totally incoherent through and through !!!
I had some credits and was rather excited that i was going to use them for a good game...... NOT so !!!
I could not make heads or tails of the story line. To progress, one had to guess and click, refer to the map for what to do next, even when using the hint button repeatedly, i could still not fathom the coherency of most of the moves !!! Lots of blah blah that gave insufficient explanations. I am truely disappointed.... then again, i am consistently finding that this developper's games are not very creative or intelligent. Boring stuff, and certainly not worth collector's edition status.
Too far fetched for my tastes and not overly indicative of creativity or innovation.... Boring.
The demo was very short, but i was relieved when it ended. I will certainly not by the CE edition and would even avoid buying the SEversion when it comes out... I hope that somewhere, sometime down the line BFG will bring out a game that is a challenge, fun and innovative. Really good games are fewer and farer between and i'm starting to become disinterested in the majority of the games offered to us.... particularly by this developper !
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GAME

I would like to ditto what some other reviewers have said because i agree whole heartedly.
First of all i agree that this game stands out and should be the benchmark for all CE games. It sets a high standard and i certainly hope that more games follow the lead. Having played or purchased hundreds of games over the years, this one is, by far, one of my favorites (along with the four Horsemen).
The Golden Curse is without question of five star quality on all counts and i say hats off to the developers who have taken the time and trouble to put together all the winning features that make one really enjoy the experience of playing. Its been a long time (too long) since i have had the pleasure of immersing myself into a game where i really feel that i'm part of an exciting adventure and not just clicking like a mindless robot. I have gotten bored with the endless and thoughtless clicking that is the mainstay of most games that we are being offered as CE games.
ARTWORK :
Lost Lands - The Golden Curse is beautifully illustrated. The details of each scene are exceptional. Thank you to the developers for the treat of traveling through the colorful and imaginative decors where one is surrounded with a seemingly endless array of excellent artwork and fantasy.
GAME PLAY :
I would describe it as a highly intelligent game. The developers did not skimp on thought or design. Although this is not a fast paced game, it is very engaging and thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. Very well put together in a leisurely and thoughtful way, one is drawn into the story and has to think rather than just click ! Although the Golden Curse is a sequel to a series, one does not get the impression that its "been there, done that" as in so many other game series.
HOGs
Despite the fact that i am not a great fan of outline clues in HOGs, the hidden object games were challenging, different and required thought and logic. All were really excellent as one was not limited to just finding a shape. On the contrary, the importance of recognizing the shape was over-ridden by the requirement to concentrate on the logic. Again BRAVO.... lots of thought and effort went into designing each of these HOGs.
PUZZLES
The puzzles were fun also. NOT REPETITIVE at all .... and they tied perfectly well into the story line. Too many games lately seem to put in rather absurd "filler" puzzles that distract you and "break" the ambiance of the adventure you are supposed to be on... this being particularly irritating when the puzzles are boring and repetitive. All the puzzles in the Golden Curse were challenging yet not ridiculously difficult and the directions were always clear and concise.
CUT SCENES
They flow perfectly with the story-line and are visually enjoyable and of high quality.
MUSIC :
The music was unobtrusive... nothing negative to say about it but then again, i was so absorbed in the game that i paid little attention to it.
MAP :
The map was THE BEST (as it was in Four Horsemen). Again, this type of map should set the standard for well designed and user friendly maps for adventure games. On every level it was clear, easy to use and allowed one to perfectly navigate between scenes. The game has a certain amount of back and forth-ing but with the map.... its no problem to go from one area to another and enjoyable to use. NO frustration whatsoever !!! This is by far the BEST MAP i have ever used in any game. It also has the unique advantage of showing you what morphing objects or collectibles you have missed which allows you to go back, at your leisure, to search for those you overlooked. As another reviewer pointed out : you can get so absorbed in the game that you don't even realized that you did not pick up on some of the collectibles or morphs.... but in this game....no problem, the marvelous map discreetly points out to you that there are still some undiscovered items and you have the pleasure of going back to hunt for them. I also like it that the cursor changes into a hand, which can be helpful when one is stumped by an elusive collectible !
CHARACTERS :
The Characters are expressive and likable (not enough of them in my opinion as i do enjoy meeting them on the journey when they are so personable).
I LOVED this game and only wish we had more of the same... more often. The Golden Curse is chock full of interactive and challenging gameplay with celtic overtones in a Tolkien-like environment. The flow of the game was logical, intelligent and realistic.
The Golden Curse was worth its weight in gold, in adventure and in pleasure !!! Every penny spent purchasing this CE was well rewarded in enjoyable game play ! I highly recommend it and thank the developers for their effort and talent in offering us a truly classy game of superior quality!
I recommend this game!

I'm going to stay short on this review. I played the full game. The graphics are lovely, and it was nice to travel around in the environment. However, the game play was rather linear and i did not feel drawn into the story line. Very easy game play and not overly challenging
HOG were good and varied and most of the puzzles too.
But the game was very short. So i spent a nice moment playing but was not all that impressed.
Its ashame given the effort that went into the graphics .... that this game was not more exciting .
I recommend if one is looking for a pretty good easy play for a lazy afternoon.... but i miss not having a really great game to get into ... wait and see what comes up in the future.
I recommend this game!

The first game in this series was great.... and the following "episodes" went downhill. I was nevertheless excited when i saw this game come out... as i hoped that i would find the same enjoyment that i did in the first game ! It did not take long for me to be totally disappointed....Its just not there. Stiff characters and a story line that is rather absurd. It just seems canned. Eipix is really not evolving, on the contrary, its back sliding into boring repetition.
Although the artwork is very imaginative and of superior quality, just about everything else in the game is below average.
To much blah blah, never ending cut scenes of sketches repeating the story ... ever so slowly....Useless filler that distracts you from the game play ...you keep getting cut off and have to wait to get back to playing.
Its just not exciting, you don't get drawn in, you don't feel IN the game.
The puzzles were for the most part stupid they involve NO brain work whatsoever and they too are so repetitive... line up the strings with the stars, pick pairs of symbols... i did them because i had to... and not once but over and over. Its like the devs were filling time with the same thing so as not to come up with new ideas.
The map(though good art work) was confusing, too crunched together and there again, one has to click.... then click again.
The HOs were ok but not much more than OK ... again the artwork was excellent, but finding the objects was in no way challenging ... no brain work.
The art is the only positive thing i can say about this game.
Some reviewers suggest that the series should be put to rest, I say, Eipix should attempt to not only bring it back to the level of the first in the series but, better yet ,.... improve it.
There have been some EXCELLENT games produced in recent years, why don't the developers try to reach higher standards ???
I only played the demo and will certainly not buy this game.... its too bad, i really want a good game to play. A game that takes me on a voyage of adventure and challenge... Amaranthine Voyage: The Orb of Purity is certainly not that.
I don't recommend this game.

Very old school. Give the demo a try... but in my opinion this is not a CE game. I don't care for the art work/graphics. The characters are original but not very lifelike. Too much jumping around (luckily there is a map). Games are just ok and same for the HOs. I debated quitting before the end of the demo... but persevered... luckily again the demo is not very long so i made it through.
Try it, you may like it.... but i won't buy it at CE prices. Could consider it if purchased with a free coupon... but even then i don't think i'd play it unless i was really bored.
The demo gives you a taste of what to expect.
I don't recommend this game.

I only played the demo and have no intention of buying this game. I found it boring and totally not challenging.
The characters were stiff and lifeless. The overall ambiance was dreary. The game play was dull and linear to the max,
Click, click, click.... and no real challenge at all. The games lacked dimension and required no real thought. Furthermore, the instructions were oftentimes too succinct and not clear. I also found them repetitive. The HOs were dark and not overly clear. The map was ok but i don't see why one should click the area to designate it and then to have to click again on the picture of the area so as to get there. I also find it absurd that if one is already in the area where the next available task is, we are told that we are already there and then we have to exit the map. If i'm already there i should be able to click on the picture to return to the area in question.
It seems that the Eipix games are not evolving and that there is little effort made by this developer to bring the player some new and innovative game play.
The story line was ok and could have been interesting but there was a definite lack of imagination so as to make the story come alive.I also find that the "games" which were nothing more than poorly drawn sketches in which one had to find shapes or cannonballs are of no interest at all.
The artwork was ok..... but we have seen MUCH better in other games.
I see that many have given this game 5 stars..... but i really can not see why !
I only rate a game 5 stars when it is exceptional, and this game was definately NOT exceptional. It was barely ok. I would not waste my money or my time on playing beyond the demo.
I don't recommend this game.

I have only played the short demo and that was more than enough for me. I will not purchase the game.
Although the graphics are excellent, the content is soooo repetitive that i was feeling that i was not playing a game or in an adventure... but jumping through the same old silly hoops with very little to no enjoyment factor whatsoever . Also way too much cinematic...not to mention the supremely annoying "trace a figure" before you can shoot a gun in order to protect yourself from the beast !!! Completely and totally absurd and particularly boring as it is not only one pattern that you must trace before you can aim and fire... you have to do it a number of times... over and over again how stupid and monotonous. Furthermore it totally detracts from the flow of the game.
In the short demo i played, the HO's for the most part are silhouettes and tiny unidentifiable ones... I prefer lists where one can use their head instead of playing a squinting and guessing game. There were some list HOs but nothing particularly creative or innovative. As for the puzzles, i saw nothing new and ended up skipping two of them only because i've done that been there too many times in past games and not much thinking or skill was required... so why bother. Nothing new, just rote mechanical clicks so as to be able to move on.
As for the coherence of the story line.... not much has changed and nothing very original from the rest of the series.Furthermore there were too many annoying situations. For example, at one point, the son says to come and meet him in the tower so that you can help him. But, despite the fact that he has a rope ladder in front of him, he does not throw it down to you. He steps back and waits for you while you go hunting around to find a rope and hook so as to be able to pull the ladder down !!! Its idiotic ! Then when you are in the house, the mother needs you to help her also, and while she is standing there you need to go look for objects to open doors etc ... that she should be able to provide for you. It is just not realistic and does not feel at all like an adventure ar all !
I think that the devs should give these repetitive series a rest or at least try to bring some creativity and or some improvement to the new episdes.
I do not want to pay CE prices for a game that is so similar to previous the episodes of the same story. Even though the artwork is excellent, the story, the puzzles, the HO's are old hat and of little interest.
Some developers really put imagination and creativity into their games. They evolve.... this series does not. I feel that this game was stale and without interest.
I will not spend money or time to play this type of game anymore.
I don't recommend this game.

Delightful game full of lovely artwork, colorful scenes, and creative game play. Games like this are few and far between and i so enjoyed finally being able to play a game that was original and adventuresome as opposed to the run of the mill series we have been offered lately.
The puzzles were original, the HOs fun.
I particularly like it when i feel that i am really partaking in an adventure and this game gave me that feeling. Each scene was a discovery and the artwork was very good.
The music was varied, in tune with the ambiance and was not tiring or annoying as it can be in some games.
This SE game was better than most of the CE games that are offered and i am hoping that we get to play more games like Subliminal Realms: The Masterpiece !!!!
I recommend this game and especially thank the devs for having taken the time and effort to give us such a fine game.
I recommend this game!

I only played the demo.... and do not intend to buy this game in the Collector's Edition although i might consider the Standard Edition when it comes out. The Scenes though colorful and detailed were rather repetitive. The characters were stiff and not personable and their speech was stilted and with little expression. The game itself way ok.... average HOG and puzzles, nothing spectacular.
All in all i found the game to be a bit old fashioned and it lacked depth on just about every level.
There have been much much better CE games than this and i really don't think its worth CE prices.
I don't recommend this game.

Although i am not a big fan of the puppet show series (i prefer fantasy style games) i never hesitate to spend my hard earned dollars on the CE version of these ERA games. The quality is, in all respects above average. The games are plenty long, full of color and intrigue. It is obvious that the developers put lots of energy and creativity into every aspect of their productions. Unlike the EIPIX series that have become more and more run of the mill, the ERA games have maintained a constant evolution towards quality.
The characters are more lifelike and their costumes are beautifully designed (its such a pleasure when the art work is researched and innovative).
There are plenty of reviews stating all the details with regards to the puzzles and HOPs etc. So i will not add more on those areas.
I just wanted to say that it is a pleasure to play these games and that i truly think that we are getting our money's worth when we buy the Collector's Editions of the ERA games.
I recommend this game!
