I liked this game. I liked the plot concept that altered time from present to Mayan. I liked the music that was in sync with the story. I liked how they worked the hidden object games (and I am no fan of HOGs). Interesting story. Good art work. Puzzles were good...not too easy..not too hard.
I played most of these games then stopped for awhile. I tried this as I thought it would have a good storyline being in New Orleans.
I found the game tedious and a chore to play. The puzzles were not fun. I apparently have lost my touch as most of the time I was clueless as to what I was supposed to do next.
I felt claustrophobic as I stayed in a mansion most of the time or in the rain to visit a graveyard. Really...in New Orleans and that is the setting they offer?
Not a good game in my opinion. But the early ones were so good (Scarlett Hand, Ghost Dogs, Deception Island).
I enjoyed this game to include the HOGs. They were sprinkled throughout the story but not overly so. I found this to be fairly challenging and at times you have a lot of inventory items but are not sure what to do next.
I will admit right up front I am not a HOG fan but most of the games contain them nowadays.
I enjoyed the game but towards the end, it seemed that they threw more HOGs in to get you to find a needed item. I always find HOGs disruptive. I have an idea of what's next in the adventure, then suddenly there are sparkles and my annoyance factor pegs.
If you like HOGs you will like this. If you like adventure/puzzle and HOGs you will like this.
It wasn't bad....it just wasn't exceptional.
P.S. Big Fish - separate HOG/PA from straight adventure in your listing.
I really like this game. It surely made you think about your inventory items and how to progress. There were a couple of times I was stuck and revisiting each area didn't seem to help. After some brainstorming I figured out the next step.
As I said in a previous review of the first game in this series, I really like the "think" requirements. No hunting for an item in a rubble of stuff to get forward progress. No total understanding of what you have to do but you just can't find the inventory item. This game and its adventure puzzles really make you think about the story and what to do next.
Excellent game and enjoyed the old pixelly look from the early days of adventure.
Really enjoyed this game. It made you think rather than hunt thru a hidden object scene to progress. I knew it was going to be fun when I had to solve the first "puzzle" in the park.
The hardest part was that I kept forgetting to use the notebook to combine clues to get new ones. If I got stuck that was normally why.
Going to download the next one. Really enjoyed. Sure wish they would convert more of the older adventure games to BF.
In a fading world devoid of color, the ghost of Nikola Tesla reaches through the Ether and invites you on an incredible adventure through time and space.
The story was interesting. The game play great. I am not a big fan of HOG and love adventure. The HOGs in this game were not too numerous and seemed to be better integrated. A major annoyance of mine is when the storyline seems to be constantly interrupted by a "find the item" moment. This had a good mix of HOGs and adventure elements and the mini-games were good.
The game was nothing great. The story was flat. HOGs were abundant and that is not a good thing for me. It seemed everytime you were making headway into the story and adventure there was a new sparkle scene to sort through a jumble of items. I found this to be intrusive. I have played other HOPAs but this was not well done.
I didn't even bother to play the full extra content as it immediately set up a HOG scene and by that time I was annoyed with the hunting to further a story line.
Could have been good. But it was not. Very disappointed.
I don't recommend this game.

This was a great game. It started out with some edge and the story and puzzles were not obvious. You had to think about your next step. Many games are so obvious...it is just a matter of obtaining the next item to progress but little thought is required. This game made you think about how to use inventory items and how to work through puzzles. This was closer to the old days of PC adventure games and there were no HOG which was a plus.
Highly recommend. I didn't give it a 5 as the latter part of the game somewhat lost its edge, but still was a great experience. Wish Big Fish would have more games that were a bit grittier and difficult.
This game had great puzzles, a good story line and good design. For once, there were enough locations to visit that I did not feel claustrophobic. The hidden object parts were done fairly well which is a compliment from me as I am not a HOG fan.
The only con that I could find was that at times a new HOG would show up and I had to hunt to find the location unless I used the ingame hint system.
