I enjoyed this game a lot. You play as Vanessa van Helsing who is trying to find/help her grandfather. He's left messages that you have to find throughout the game. The cut scenes are great 3D work and flow nicely with the story. The voice overs, music and back ground sounds are all nicely done.
The HOS are a mix of list items and "place in scene" items. You go to most HOS locations more than once. They are somewhat dark, but the objects are relatively easy to find. The mini games are fun but not overly difficult. The interactive map is excellent, it shows where the "to be done" items are located and takes you to whatever location you select. The hint button is useful, but I only used it once. The diary has some information you'll need along the way.
The story unfolds nicely and keeps the mystery of "who did it" for most of the main game. While the main game had a satisfying ending, the bonus chapter was really nice. It added to the story and was long enough to justify the price.
The game was not that hard to complete, but did have some twists and turns which was nice. I highly recommend this game.
The main game was fun. It does have demonic possession as central theme, which might disturb some players. I enjoyed the game, the overall eerie feel, music and sound effects were very good. The voice overs were well done. The cut scenes were some what cartoonish, but not too annoying. You play as "Mrs. Frost" and have to save a young girl from the demon. You collect several powers along the way as you achieve certain objectives. The hint button is a hand which also hold the powers you acquire. I really enjoyed this approach.
The mini games were not overly difficult, but were fun. The diary held the task list and clues you pick up along the way. The HOS were clutter and dark for the most part. Some items were difficult to find, which I enjoy. There is an integrated SG; however, you won't need it much (if at all).
The music and sound effects help create tension during the game and the developers did a good job with both.
The disappointing part of this CE was the bonus chapter. It was short and not worth the money. It added some to the story, but I had already figured out the twist prior to the end of the main game.
I recommend this game in the SE version, not the CE version.
This is a fun little game that is a nice change of pace from some of the darker games. It also makes a good point with the story and shows that you can't always believe what the media tells you. You play as farmers who find crop circles in their field after a big storm. You play part of the game as the wife who goes in search of answers and part of the game as the husband who sells items in the farmer's market and repairs the farm after the storm.
The graphics are okay, somewhat cartoonish. There are no voice overs, so you read the minimal dialogue. The HOS are good, some items are difficult to find. There are several locations within the game and a map appears on the screen when you need to move to another location. The game moves along quickly. There is a hint button, but you won't need it very often. There are tasks (put together a metal dectector, develop film, etc.) that are fun.
This would be a great game to play with the kids or grandkids.
In a fading world devoid of color, the ghost of Nikola Tesla reaches through the Ether and invites you on an incredible adventure through time and space.
This game is a bit unusual, but fun. There are a few annoyances. You play as Tesla's great grand daughter and are trying to correct what went wrong with Tesla's experiment. You get to travel back in time to three different periods, which was quite fun.
The graphics are acceptable, not stellar. The HOS and puzzles are fun. Most items are relatively easy to find and most of the puzzles are solvable without too much effort. There is a lot of dialogue between Tesla and the main character...substantially more dialogue than most games... which gets annoying at times. The storyline is really good and plays out nicely as the game moves along.
There is a journal which contains information you pick up during the game and several maps. The maps are not interactive, but do show the location and what's going on within each location. The hint button recharges quickly, but you won't need it very often. There is a walk through available and it is very helpful. I got stuck towards the end of the game and used the walk through. The ending was very satisfying.
The most annoying part of the game was the hint button was on the left and journal/map on the right. This is the opposite of every other game I've played and was really confusing at first.
If you are not annoyed by all the dialogue and the reversed hint/journal buttons, this is a great game.
Overall I enjoyed this game; however, I had some issues with how the story unfolded. You play as the daughter of a film producer who just died. Your brother has gone missing and an odd maid is at your father's estate. You must search for your brother and solve your father's puzzle locks. The story takes place at your father's estate which includes a movie studio.
The graphics are excellent, the voice overs are good, the live actors are okay and the music is nice. The HOS are good, some items are really difficult to locate. You do visit each HOS more than once. The puzzles are fun, but sometimes the instructions are unclear. The SG comes in handy when you can't figure out the instructions.
There is a combo journal/map/task/list/father's diary book that is quite useful. The map is not interactive (unfortunately), but does show you where you have tasks to complete. Since the map is not interactive, there is a lot of back and forth between locations. This does get tiresome as the game goes along. I never looked at the task list or diary. The journal portion does come in handy for solving several of the puzzles. There is a built-in SG which stays on the last page viewed.
During game play you collect achievements, search for pictures of the house, search for playing cards and look for lights to turn on. These were an enjoyable part of the game.
The storyline is interesting and odd at the same time. I don't want to give too much away, but will say that, unfortunately the developers tipped their hand on a big piece of the plot too early in the game. They should have held a specific piece of information until much later in the game. Also, once this piece of information is revealed (and some back story to go with it), your character's reaction is definitely not what I expected.
The ending of the main game was satisfying in most respects. I am probably one of the few players that had concerns about the main character's actions.
The main game was lengthy; however, the bonus chapter was short. It did add a new location, which was fun. The ending of the bonus chapter was definitely satisfying.
At the end of the main game, you must read the credits, they are quite amusing. Also, in the bonus section is a "Making of" video that is really funny. You can tell the developers had a good time working on the game.
Even though I have misgivings about how the story developed, I do recommend this game. It was worth the price of the CE.
This game had a lot of potential, but there were so many annoyances. A brother and sister are working through the clues in a mysterious book and searching for Excalibur. You play as the sister and stay in touch with your brother via cell phone. You travel to various countries and go through the riddles in the book to find clues to the location of Excalibur.
The graphics are okay, but when you get to a location and begin clicking to find objects, the scene momentarily blurs. It became really annoying as the game progressed.
After you find the clue in a scene, you receive requests via cell phone to find objects or take pictures. You are paid for these requests and use the funds to purchase airfare to the next country. This was actually an interesting twist and I enjoyed that part. When you are looking for objects, you can click them in the list and see an outline of them on the cell phone. This is actually very helpful as some of the objects are very difficult to locate. The hint button does not show the actual object, but displays a grid and tells you which grid to search. I actually enjoyed this pat.
The brother and sister talk constantly. You can click through the dialogue, but it get really irritating after a few scenes. I finally muted the voice overs and read the dialogue. Some of it was snarky, which was fun.
After you finish each location fanfare plays. While it was fun the first time or two, it was really annoying by the end of the game.
Last, but not least, the game ends on a cliffhanger to set up a sequel. I really feel cheated when this happens. I was already somewhat annoyed with the game and this was the final straw.
This game could have really been fun had the developers made some different decisions when writing the game. I'm not sure I recommend this game. If you can overlook the annoyances, it is a fun game, but they are hard to overlook.
I don't recommend this game.

Alexander the Great: Secrets of Power
It’s up to you, a descendant of the ancient emperor, to collect powerful artifacts and save the world. Dive into the whirlpool of thrilling mysteries to unlock the secrets of ancient power!
This is an interesting game with some enjoyable parts and some annoyances. You receive a box with a mysterious message claiming you are a scion of Alexander the Great. You go on a hunt for missing relics. You fly to various locations, read about them on your smart phone, search for the missing pieces of the relics, take pictures with your smart phone, etc. There are several other characters, both good and bad, that you meet along the way. You also get to travel back in time at some locations, which was fun.
The graphics are acceptable, not stellar. The characters you meet are live actors, which is ok, but IMHO not the best. The voice overs were acceptable, but didn't match the actors talking. There are a lot of HOS, which I love. These were typical junk piles but most items are findable if you take your time. Some items were mis-named, which is really frustrating. The hint button comes in handy for these items. The mini-games were not very difficult and most were fun.
The hint and skip buttons re-filled quickly. You won't need them very often. There is a map that allows you to jump between locations and tells you if there are items to do at a location. You won't need the map until fairly late in the game. Unfortunately it doesn't always let you jump to another location. Sometimes you have to exit and restart the game to get the map to function.
There is no built-in SG or walk through available. If you get stuck, you have to check the BF forums or troll the internet. Towards the end of the game is when you're most likely to get stuck. It was really frustrating to have no help from the hint button and very few resources. I almost gave up at one point.
The game ends in a cliff hanger, which I really dislike. I always feel cheated when a game ends in a cliff hanger.
The game is long, which is nice, but the annoyances almost make it not worth it. I really enjoyed the history, but you can click through it quickly if it's not to your liking.
Overall I enjoyed this game. I walk through would have made it much more enjoyable.
I don't normally play puzzle games, but really enjoyed this one. It reminded me of sudoku. The early levels are fairly easy, but the last level is really difficult. There are some mini games thrown in which are a nice break. You also get some historical tidbits which are fun.
After finish the first level you are given access to a bonus section (accessible from the main menu). In the bonus section you can visit each area and test yourself against the clock. It gives you the high scores for each area.
After you finish the game, you can go back to each area and replay the puzzles if you wish.
I really enjoyed this game and can see myself dipping into it every so often.
This is a great game. You just inherited an island complete with a mansion and butler. You quickly find out that there is a poltergeist and a lot of really odd things are going on. Then the fun really begins. The graphics are excellent, the voice overs are appropriate, the cut scenes are really well done (and can be re-watched from the menu), the music is annoying (but can be muted), the HOS are good and the mini games are fun. Some of the inventory items turn into puzzles, which was really fun.
The ending of the main game was very abrupt. Thank goodness for the bonus chapter, which was excellent and had a very satisfying ending.
The SG is built in and helpful. The only annoyance is that it returns to the TOC if you exit the game.
This game was so much fun. Statues coming to life, some good...some bad. People in the "abandoned" village and you have a determine who is good and who is evil. The graphics are excellent, the "helpers" you have during the game are great, the built in SG is helpful, the HOS are good and the mini puzzles are fun. The ending of the main game was satisfying.
The bonus chapter really added to the story and was worth the price of the CE.
