It was a decent game. The series seem to come out very fast, at small distance from eachother, maybe that's why this game was so short. I believe it's not the first from the series, but the second, but it's the one I played first.
The story seems to start with the middle, the epic flow is poorly made. Instead of having a normal story flow like beggining, action line and end, it starts very sudden without explaining who the characters are and how it came to where we are.
I gave 3 stars because the puzzles and HOS were entertaining. It wasnt very challenging, but fun enough. The graphics and voiceovers were well done.
I actually enjoyed the bonus game way better than the main one.
I don't recommend this game.

I have never been dissapointed by this developer and this game fulfilled all my expectations. Everything is what the other dark parables got us used to. Great storyline and crisp beautiful graphics.
I personally never had trouble with the HOS, but the puzzles were pretty hard for me, reason why I played it with my husband for some little help.
The only difference from the other DP was the ending. It leaves room for me to believe that the story of Rapunzel will be continued in one of the following releases. Can't wait for the next one, little mermaid is one fairytale to look forward to.
I recommend this game!

Now don't get me wrong, I thought it was a great game. Just a part 2 is supposed to be better than part 1. To me it wasn't better. The story in the first phantasmat was 10 times better than this one and more thrilling. It brought a lot more originality and personality to characters. In the first game you had more interraction with the main characters and it was a little creepier. Here i only jumped once when a hamster popped on my screen, that was about it.
STORY: You end up in a town hit by an avalanche. You have to work your way out with the help of locals. Now, without any spoilers, the players who got their hands on the first game, realised in the first minute what the locals were, which made the overall course of actions very predictable.
GAMEPLAY: Very smooth game but with some elements missing. I personally didnt find any map, if there was one maybe i didn't look good enough. But thankfully the way this game works is by making you do whatever you had to do in an area and move forward. You only come back at the beggining when the game's done. There's not much running around. There's no journal, but you have a task list you have to complete and the window tells you how much of the game you completed so far.
HOS&PUZZLES: Great game for begginers and intermediate, not so great fo experts. The hidden object scenes were very easy, if you have a trained eye you'll be able to complete it in about 30 seconds. The puzzles are very easy as well and not many in numbers. The nice feature is that if you dont want to look for an item you can play match 3. Many of you know how tired our eyes can get when we're focusing so much on the screen, and the match 3 relaxes the nerves.
GRAPHICS&SOUND: The visual quality was exceptional, as expected from this developer, very crisp colors and creepy environment. I didnt care much for the soundtrack but they had some funny accents on their voiceovers.
EXTRAS: In the CE version you'll find a bonus game of decent lenght. It's related to the game, it actually makes you go back in time. This time, instead of being helped by the locals, you have to help them. You also get some wallpapers, soundtrack, screensaver and concept art. They're not the best, other games have way better extras, but collectors will probably be happy with it.
I was overall pleased with the game but i found it way too easy. I hope the next one will be better
I recommend this game!

I didn't have many expectations when i got this game. It turned out to be the cutest christmas game i played, as to be expected from this developer. The only complaint i would have is that the game was a little too short for my taste. Im used to playing a HOG for at least 5-6 ours, this one went by just too fast, but being so good i didn't consider giving it less than 5 stars.
STORY: You get invited to the christmas party and you find the famous nutcracker under the tree. His princess has been kidnapped by rats and you have to save her. Along the game you'll find various friends. A candle, a kitten and the nutcracker are in your inventory and help you acomplish various tasks that you can't do by yourself The story is well suited for children as well, so don't hold back from letting them play this game.
GAMEPLAY: Very smooth game, scenes change easy, not too crowded. You have to collect dolls in many scenes and achievements along the game, that you can get by watching the cutscenes and completing puzzles. You have a map and a strategy guide. The map has instant teleportation in areas of interest. The game area is very big. Inventory might get crowded at times and hint is a useful tool for the times when you get stuck. There are also multimpe levels of difficulty for players that love challenge.
HOS&PUZZLES: There are not many hidden object scenes, but it is to be expected from a shorter game. The ones that are present are of easy to medium difficulty and have object interraction, meaning you have to match 2 parts in order to get the item asked, also a common strategy you can find in other games from this developer. The puzzles are of medium difficulty, not repetitive. Some of them were not my type but in a HOG you get all sorts of weird puzzles.
GRAPHICS&SOUNDS: Absolutely gorgeous visual experience. I personally couldn't ask for more. The christmas feeling is present wherever you go, the scenes are detailed but not crowded. The colors are crisp and vibrant as in a fairy tale. The sountrack is composed of gorgeous classical music that most people should know, exactly the way a Tchaikovsky ballet should be. I usually turn the music off but in this game it was so entertaining i kept it on higher than the other sounds. The game also offers animated cut scenes nd voice over.
EXTRAS: After you complete the main game you get access to the extra wallpapers, sountrack, screensaver and bonus gameplay. The bonus game is not long but very cute and it revolves around one of your friends from the main game, the blue kitten. By the time i was done all i wanted was to have a wallpaper with that kitten and i was so happy that i found one. I usually dont use the wallpapers from the extras but this one is now resting proud on my screen.
It was a great overall experience and i highly recomend this game for players that want to get in an early christmas feeling.
I recommend this game!

This was the first MCF i played so manyyyyy people will probably not agree with me being fans of the series and having played them all. Im usually not a fan of HOG that mix matte painting with real people but i decided to give it a try.
I loved the story. It was not original but as creepy as it could be. Even my husband liked it and he's not a fan of hidden object games.
The gameplay was easy. There is a really easy to use instant teleporting map and very smooth scene changing. I loved the way the HOS were layd out. It was easy to find everything but different from the classic games. The puzzles were a little too easy but in a big variety.
The graphics are very realistic, a mix of 3d and matt painting. They managed to blend the characters in very well and the acting was really good compared to other games i played that use the same strategy. It made me jump few times as well and that happens rare.
I still think the CE is not worth it for 3 wallpapers and 3 screensavers. Thats the only reason i give it 4 stars

i absolutely loved this game. it was nice to get away for a little bit from all the usual hog games on the market at the moment. this is excellent as a relaxing choice for a weekend evening or some fun with the rest of the family. kids will love this and its perfect as an introduction game for younger players.
the graphics are cartoonish but really well made. there's plenty of voice over. bringht colors and nice soundtrack are a plus. it lacks advanced animation , but i guess it suits the style.
the story is really nice. you get pulled from reality to a fantasy underworld that you have to save. you play as a female heroine and get 3 adorable friends on the way to help you out with their special powers.
the gameplay offers an interactive map with instant teleportation to areas of interest, an achievement hall, 3 levels of difficulty. there are no hidden object scenes. everything is pure adventure and the game is filled with puzzles of various styles and difficulties for every taste.
the only thing i felt like the game was missing were the wallpapers. having so nice graphics is a pity not to include some extra content.
my time was almost 5 hours in normal mode, so there are plenty of things to do around
I recommend this game!

Personally, I'm not a fan of detective/crime solving games. Still I was persuaded to give it a try so I did. I was very surprised by the overall quality of this game. This is a pure classic psychic crime solving HOG, with a decent level of challenge, pretty long a mind twisting. You won't know who and where the story will take you:
STORY: You play as a young psychic investigator who is called to solve a series of crimes and you find out they are a copycat of another series of murders from 1888, in the same place, at the same date, with the same names. You have to make the connections between the victims and suspects, put some souls to rest and save yourself too. The story has a lot of turns and twists that you won't expect. The ending came unexpected, the reasons the murderer had were bizare and personally, i didn't have a clue while playing the game.
GAMEPLAY: The journal and strategy guide were pretty much useless for me. I didn't even check them because the game has a very smooth and natural way of going further that I didn't get stuck. You have plenty of extra hints in many of the scenes. They come in the form of dreamcatchers. Also you have to collect police badges that serve you as items to unlock achievements. Scene changing is very smooth, the programming is professionally made.
HOS&PUZZLES: This game is very balanced. You don't get more hos that you can handle. Some of them are repeated and they are of medium difficulty. Some items are really small, but I didn't get penalised for over clicking. The blending is very well made, so if you know you have trouble seeing, save some extra hints for it. The puzzles are very intelligent made, medium difficulty. All of them are based on logical actions and calculations, you also get some classic puzzles and word finding that I enjoyed.
GRAPHICS&SOUND: Professionally 3D graphics await you. Everything is made semi realistic with natural colors and lights. The creators managed to recreate the feel of old and new london exceptionally well. You have plenty of voice over, even for descriptions of what you have to do. I barely heard the music, it starts mostly at a cutscene or intense action point. Make sure you turn the sound effects down a little, especially if your computer volume is maxed, because one of the scenes woke my neighbour up that's how loud a cutscene was compared to the rest of the game :D
EXTRAS: You get a bonus gameplay related to the case you work on. It's pretty long and you get some new scenes to mess with. the extras also offer unlimited hidden object play, screensavers, wallpapers, music, and a very nice 3 in 1 examples of work progress sketch-render-final version.
Overall the game was very relaxing. Expert players will find it easy to medium. It's a perfect game for begginer players. For me it was just a fun and relaxing way to spend my day. Loved it.
I recommend this game!

I love the developer of this game and I playd a lot of other games they put out. Unfortunatelly this one did not rise to the standards they set up a while ago. As usual, I'll detail everything on parts. It was not a bad game, but the 3 stars i gave were mostly for the weird programming and the graphics.
STORY: The storyline is beautifully made. You have your daughter kidnaped by an ancient witch. You have to save her, kill the witch and save the souls of other children. At first I didn't catch the relation name-game, but you have to find the pages of a gothic book that details the story of the witch. You find everything along the way, the game being pretty long.
GAMEPLAY: Not the best idea to crowd the scenes like that. it made the scene changing heavy and the overall progression slow. The game area is huge and you have no instant map. You have a map indeed, but it just tells you the objectives and where you are. At one point it gets confusing with so many scenes involved. You have to run a lot here and there for items, so an instant map would have been a wonderful idea. The other thing I found a little weird, was the inexistence of logic between the actions you had to do and the story. A lot of weird unnecessary steps. At least you have a pretty detailed strategy guide that you can check if you get stuck.
PUZZLES: Just puzzles. This game has absolutely NO hidden object scenes. is strictly an adventure puzzle game. If you're a fan of the classic hos, then this game is not your best option. The puzzles are indeed very ingenious and in a big variety. Most of the items you need are hidden in the scenes without much fuss to find them. All you have to do is find where they belong. You'll get to a point when your inventory will be incredibly crowded, but personally that didn't bother me too much.
GRAPHICS&SOUND: Big mistake from the developer to mix video manipulation with painting. The actors used were extremely bad at what they were doing and they did not blend in the scene at all. Your daughter in the game is presented as real recorded person in the main game and digitally painted in the bonus gameplay that did not even look like the same person. The scenes were beautifully made, very vibrant and clear, but the mix they did ruined my overall visual experience. The game is also full of creepy sounds that I absolutely loved being a fan of the genre. I did not care much for the soundtrack because it was very repetitive and I prefered to turn it off.
EXTRAS: You have a bonus gameplay, is pretty short, but in a completely new area: on route 999. The change didn't make much sense at first, but I enjoyed it because it looked so much better than the main game. You also have wallpapers, concept art, soundtrack and screensavers. The CE was worth it for the bonus game.
I hope the devs learn a lesson from this game they made and try not to mix everything like that and make it a little lighter. I loved the story, but I think they could have done better. It still stays one of my favorite game makers.
I recommend this game!

And it was so worth it. dark parables have been my favorite since i started this type of gaming, and the developer did not disapoint me at all. It was even better than I expected. Actually, you never know what to expect from dark parables. The stories are so turned up and twisted they are nothing like the original stories. Here's my review on parts.
STORY: The usual detective is sent to investigate the order of red ridinghood sisters. What I found loving about them, was their unique fighting stile :swords, claws, bows, daggers, they look like real superheroes. The wolf queen's story started getting predictible a little in the game, but it didn't spoil it. You have to save the sisters and help them defeat the wolf queen. What I personally loved about the story, was the interlacing with the other dark parables characters. Briar rose was present, also the mirror of truth from snow white, snow white's son has a statue in one of the scenes, and all the statues of the frog prince's wives are present in a church.
GAMEPLAY: You have the usual map with no instant teleporting. Surprisingly with such a large file the scene changing and moving around was very smooth. There's not a lot of running for items. Most times it gives you more than one after solving a puzzle or opening a box. you can find morphing objects all over the game for faster hint, but I personally didn't bother with them. As in the other games from the series, you have to find pieces of parables to unlock the little stories. You can also get them from the bonus content. There are 3 levels of difficulty, casual, normal and hard.
PUZZLES&HOS: There were TONS of hidden object scenes to play. this is a very well balanced game between hos and adventure. Some of them must be solved 2 times, but you won't feel it because the game area is so big and they mix it really well. they are from medium to hard difficulty. You have to find pieces of items to make a whole one that goes in your inventory. The puzzles were few and of an extremely easy difficulty, but we know that this series never focused on puzzle solving.
GRAPHICS&SOUND: Exeptional visual delight, that's what nthis game will give you. A lot of cutscenes, crisp scenes, bright colors, absolutely beautiful. Everything seems to be fully digital painted, even the animations. The chinese game designers have done a very impressive job again. Whenever I play a hos, I usually turn the music down. Here I didn't have to. The music is calm and well chosen, it has a medieval feeling and makes you feel like you're in a grim tales book.
EXTRAS: The bonus gameplay is called 'the boy who cried wolf" and it's somehow related to the main story of the game. You're playing from the perspective of the boy, and the action takes place before the main story. it bassically shows how it all happened. It is of decent lenght and it has an impressive number of hos for a short game. The extras also offer wallpapers, music, the cutscenes, concept art, bonus puzzles.
I playd this game in BETA, and I was so frustrated when the demo ended that I counted days until it came out in CE because I loved it so much. Now, the sneakpeak of Cinderella dark parables makes me wait for it again. i can't wait for it to come out cause I know it will be great. hopefully 2013 will be a Cinderella year.
Enjoy!
I recommend this game!
