How I would love to see happier times for the Gray family but oh, my, if it's not one thing, it's another evil entity wanting revenge for some reason or another.
I bought the CE version and am half-way through the Main Game. I usually like to complete a game in its entirety before submitting a review but I thought while my thoughts are fresh in my mind I'd give one now. I love this game. The flow, the artwork, the characters, the storyline, the music, I love it all. This game suits me very well and I'm so glad that I purchased it.
Elephant Games devs, I think you outdid yourselves on this one. The voiceovers are fantastic and the sound effects are your usual eerie stuff; the music on the whole is wonderful. The voiceover for Richard is outstanding. That aside, the gameplay is spot on! Love it. For me it clicks. The puzzles are not that hard but tedious and that requires patience on my end. For instance, aligning the candles to light up all at once, well, I enjoy those but sometimes I don't have the patience and will hit the skip button because I want to move on. This time I stuck it out!
The storyline is quite interesting as you move forward. Though I enjoy reading the text and/or diary if it is offered, I don't need all of it, though, so I turned off the contextual text. But I do believe some text is needed. I customized this game so that I didn't need the sparkles, and tutorial, but what I do like is a very good map signifying that task(s) are available in any given area. I also like my plus items marked. Other than that, I don't need the rest. So far, too, I'm finding the morphing objects, collectibles, which are a lot of fun.
To me, every task makes sense in this game--there is a rhyme to its reason. I like that. So for me, I give this a high 5-star rating. Again, the puzzles and mini-games, and the HOS are not the hardest or that unusual, but they are challenging at times.
One minor thing that I spotted from the get-go was that there was a typo which read as follows: "I'll need the right TOOK to straighten the stretchers." The word should have been TOOL. Be it for me to judge because I make typos and grammatical errors lots of times but I'm not the editor of this game. So to the editor, assistant editor, and proofreaders, double check the text before you finalize the game. However, this minor flaw will not detract from the game-play whatsoever, nor from my rating either.
I have no idea how this story will end but the fact that I look forward to playing this game is a big plus! That's the whole point. If I'm bored and don't look forward to playing, well, how much fun can that be? This game will not disappoint! I highly recommend it!. And Devs, let's have a storyline for the Gray family that at least will show joyous times, a happier family reunion or just end it all together! Nevertheless, awesome job, Devs, thus far!

Based on a completed CE, I was bored with this one. It's not the newest game out but I've played other games in this series which were better; the HOS scenes were boring and nothing to write home about; the puzzles were average. The voiceovers were great, though.
The map was useless period. The hint button was for hints obviously if you needed them, but it was a navigator. I like to see what actions or objectives I've missed and this didn't have it. The bonus game ending was abrupt which is not unusual. However, the game was not a short game so that is in its favor.
The artwork as usual is lovely with these developers. The music had a Parisian theme which was cool but on the whole it was repetitious and your option for that is to mute or turn it down if it becomes annoying to you.
I give this a three-star game; it was okay and I would still recommend it.

The short and sweet of it is I loved this game regardless of the same old, same old by these developers; however, the mini-games and puzzles are what did it for me. A great improvement, devs! Bravo!
I managed to get all the collectibles, statues and morphing objects, which is a first for me because I usually forget them. Don't like saving any game's wallpaper unless it's visually outstanding and unusual.
One of my favorite puzzles was using the cute, lil golem, my helper, as a token on a board game. Speaking of helper, you will acquire a miner helper as well for a shorter period of time, that is. But he will be useful.
I completed the entire CE game and I really enjoyed it very much. The graphics were very good, the music was very good--you can even save the tracks to your computer if you wish.
I'm rating this game a 4-1/2 stars because of the mini-games and puzzles which upped the score as far as I'm concerned.
I most definitely recommend this game. Good job, devs!

I'm almost finished with this SE version that plays like a CE. Don't get me wrong, this is a really good game, but the flow isn't actually to my taste, to be honest, and it's a little boring. Sorry about that, folks. But that's just me! However, I was going to give this game a 3-star rating but am giving it a 4-star for the reasons I've listed below.
One of my pet-peeves involving children is that if a child is stranded or lost and you find him but then send him on his merry way without supervision, well, that's a no-no in my eyes, regardless if it's a game or not. In this game, you will have the opportunity in not only saving the child but actually returning him to his mother. I love the way in which the Devs went about it, too. And, to boot, the child will not go with you unless you showed him something special from his mom. I won't tell you what it is. Buy the game and see for yourselves. Anyway, the child will be looking at you the whole time as you're escorting him home to his mom. High-five, Devs! You've paved the path for other devs to follow suit. Bravo!
You have a very good transporter map, and hint button if needed. Again, this is an SE version that plays like a CE. Another positive!
And last but not least, the actor who did the intro narration, wow-oh-wow! What a voice! I give him a 5-star! Best intro ever, intelligently written, too. As for the storyline, it's the usual and there's no need to elaborate as other reviewers have done a great job in doing so.
The graphics were very good but not outstanding, in my book. I enjoy the visuals and though the artwork is lovely, the scenes didn't really wow me.
As much as I love music in games sometimes it can be annoying and distracting, and this game is no exception. If it has the right melody that touches my moves me, then it can repeat itself into infinity for all I care. Those are the ones I like to download.
All in all, this is a very good game. I definitely recommend it.

Just completed the game, and as simplistic and basic as it was, this is one of the best games I've played all year. A format that may have seemed redundant but ultimately resulted in a well-organized, thought out, and very rewarding game. I got lots of gold stars and eagle eyes. Filled my cabinet full of souvenirs, too. High score with a lot leftover after buying the souvenirs.
The artwork was rather great except that many of the items were so small it was hard to determine where to find them but I didn't use the hint button once. This took patience on my part. Loved the sound of the trash going into the recycling bin. Got all my wildlife and I took care of those first so that I didn't miss out on them before retrieving the last item in the list of hidden items to find. Also, if you missed out on getting all the trash, you can always go back and replay those segments.
No voiceovers but great text. The characters were wonderful though--nice-looking even! So yes, this was a good change of pace for once. A very relaxing game; and I thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles and mini-games. I'm not a huge fan of jigsaw puzzles and one that was listed was entitled, the impossiblepuzzle. Spelled exactly as I have it. That required all of my patience and took time to do. It's a good thing this was not a timed game. My favorite task was the word search mini-games.
The music was very pleasant but became distracting at times so I'd turn it down now and then.
I'm giving this a low 5-star rating due to the many tiny items that were hard to detect. But in reality, that's what made this game challenging. However, I'm sticking with my rating.
The fact that this is my first park ranger game and that it was rather old-fashioned, without demons and witches and ghosts, kidnapped children, murder, dreary and weary scenes, I would have to say bravo to the Casual Arts devs for creating it. And I look forward to playing more of this type.

I just finished the entire CE version of this game. I'm rating it a 4-star but it had the potential of being a 5-star. I really, really liked this game!
Most of the tasks are the usual, find the buttons and the bows and the whatnots, but the order of this game was off. I think I visited the stage more than I wanted to but the tasks were fun enough. Very slow start to this game for me but then it started to pick up a bit.
It's quite possible I may have attention deficit disorder, but then again it could have been the game-play of this game that was becoming a bit overwhelming at times. Some tasks just seemed illogical.
The artwork was lovely in a few scenes more than others. I wish there had been more scenes--not enough for my taste. My favorite area, which was not offered as one of the wallpapers, was a snowy scene on a balcony overlooking the city. It had three or four, ornate lampposts surrounding it. Quite beautiful, actually. Had this been offered as a wallpaper, I would have saved it. It was that pretty! The colors were soft and inviting. Devs, paint more beautiful scenes. I love the visuals!
I didn't get all the morphing objects but I got most of them; most of the achievements, and all but two photographs. Got all the orchestration stuff and other goodies. So that's pretty good for me because half the time when I play the CE games I forget about these things. I was hoping that I could go back after completing the Bonus Game to retrieve them but no dice. You will unlock the Archive though to play some fun games in the Mystery Trackers Archives of previous games. Pretty neat. So I won't be uninstalling this game as I want to go back and utilize the Archives. Great idea, devs!
The storyline was okay but not great! I liked being able to use some of the gadgets in the game-play. So bravo, devs! Good job. Very clever indeed! Lots of puzzles and mini-games, HOS, silhouette items, you know, the usual. Music the same, Elf, your canine helper, was there once again. The map was great which was a big help because of all the back n' forth business; and you had a good hint button if needed.
The voiceovers were great, but one gentleman in the theater needed a sedative and it took ages for me to find it for him. When I finally did, I gave the poor guy his sedative; he, in turn, gave me what I needed. A few scenes later, I had to come back to the theater area, and lo and behold, he's shaking and shivering once again. I guess the sedative wore off! LOL! Oh, well! It's only a game! Sometimes the logic just wasn't there. Thus the 4-star instead of 5. I definitely recommend this game, though, because it's a long one and you do get your money's worth, and there are loads of fun things to do.
I recommend this game!

As simplistic as Murder She Wrote2 may seem, what it has over some of the other so-called embellished games with all their whistles and bells, this game has a great format--I love its order and its logic. I'm in the middle of the second case and I'm playing the SE version in expert mode. I didn't play the first Murder She Wrote, so obviously I can't make a comparison. I rate this game a 4-1/2 stars, but for the sake of argument, and as some others have mentioned in their reviews, I'll consider it a low 5 score.
The graphics, though cartoonish, were actually quite lovely. The lips don't move on the characters unless there is an element of surprise. Needless to say that didn't bother me. I love New England anyway so the artwork is beautiful, clear, crisp, very orderly, straight lines, lots of colors. The actors are fantastic, and the voiceover for Mrs. F. has somewhat of a similar tone to Ms. Angela Lansbury's voice. In my opinion, they chose the wrote woman to play Mrs. F. Hey, devs, you did a fabulous job on this game!
There are some glitches here n' there, like when I tried to do the painting it went bonkers for a bit where I had to end task the game and went back into it and then it was fine. Another time the cursor pointer went from the game's assigned pointer to a regular pointer without my changing it. So again, I had to get out of the game and restart it to get the kinks out. There was one minor typo in one of the texts--it should have read as follows: "I'll let you know," and the text showed, "I let you know."
Also, as Mrs. F. tells the characters that so-and-so was murdered, the characters expressed their concern very well but quickly went back to doing what they were doing. And then not too soon after, Mrs. F. would speak with them again, and they're right back in the same spot expressing their concern and grief. I found that amusing.
I would have preferred a full-screen game and this is not one of them; and the hidden objects were rather small, but finding them was not a problem. The HOS were junk piles but again you could easily find the items. The synthesizer music was very nice and not annoying at all.
The puzzles, mini-games were great fun; some were very thought-provoking and tricky and some were easy. There are quite a bit of puzzles. They're great!
I loved the fact that though the subject matter was all about murder, there was no occultic activity in this game and no dreary, miserable scenes either. A very pleasant game it is indeed! I highly recommend it!

I have to say I really liked this game. I just completed the SE version and though it wasn't as long as I had hoped, it turned out to be a great game really.
The usual storyline involving a witch, ice, black cyclone of smoke, the clock is ticking, and your mission is to save the town. Dilemma after dilemma, but the gameplay was very good. Puzzles were challenging, and some were not, the HOPS are up there with the best, graphics were lovely, clear and colorful but almost cartoonish at times. You have the option of playing the match game if you wish. Voiceovers were great. Map was very good. The music was wonderful.
One fish per four times his help, Mr. Jenkins, a cat, would offer you his services until such time he was needed again and then you're prompted to find him yet another fish. Seemed fair to me. I didn't mind him at all actually. A cute distraction.
You will need a watch that needs charging and that is done after you've completed a mini-game. Lots of tasks to keep you busy, and the flow in this game was very good.
As with many SE's, the ending was abrupt. I'm not sorry that I bought this game. I played it during our very first snowstorm. I recommend this game; satisfaction guaranteed! I rate this SE version game 4-stars.

Beautiful and intriguing storyline. Graphics/artwork were resplendent! The flow was right on; multitude of tasks to complete and then some. Collectibles, clouds with thunderbolts to collect and if you don't collect them all once you complete the Bonus Game you will be able to retrieve what you missed.
Wow! What a game! I just finished the entire CE, and the Bonus Game was just as intriguing as the main game. Omni, Ashley, Rob, and Professor Mann to name just a few are some of the characters.
Loved this beautifully, well-crafted, well-organized game by Mad Head Games. Bravo devs! Bravo! You put a lot of thought into this game. Much of the tasks were logical and I think I accomplished them so well due to that fact. Four modes of play. I like to customize my play; the map was great, hint button was great if you needed it. No diary but a scroll of the tasks you need to complete.
The artwork alone with the intricate, ornate, Asian items were outstanding. Love, envy, anger, hatred, well, the storyline just drew me in. The voiceovers/actors were superb! There was one typo where the word 'is' was used instead of 'in', and why do I notice these things, I just do! The game-play was wonderful and I didn't get bored once!
The HOPS were varied and unusual. Some mini-games were hard and some were very easy. A couple of puzzles I skipped but I didn't want this game to end. By the time I got to the Bonus Game, that too flowed like a charm; some of the characters are so endearing!
After you complete the Bonus Game, you can find items in the gallery which I was able to accomplish; and there are more hidden object scenes whereby you will be rated at the end. I just loved it. I was able to obtain all but three achievements.
A truly fun game and visually quite beautiful! I didn't expect this game to be that great but for me it was just that! I would highly recommend it.

Folks, I'm halfway into the main game of this CE version, and I had to stop to encourage you to try it out, or better yet, buy it. Esthetically you can't find a more beautiful game.
GrandMa Studios, you did a magnificent job! Stunning artwork, sound quality is fantastic, music is grand. Love this game. It's about one of the best games I've ever encountered. It's a pleasure to play a fantasy game for a change, what with other genres consisting of demons, goblins, lost souls, ghosts, rituals, witches, and dreary scenes. This game is so refreshing that I am going to enjoy every moment while I can. I don't want it to end!
The artwork alone, what with its vibrant, cool, crisp colors especially the blues, and teal greens, and purples are superb! There are beautiful roses and all sorts of flowers, and owls, and birds, and intricate artifacts which are beautifully drawn. The scenes are magnificent. When you move your mouse across your screen the scene will sway ever so slightly, too. These devs have thought of everything.
A sheer delight! The game-play so far is outstanding. A well-organized, well-crafted, and so far no typos or improper grammar. LOL! The actors are wonderful. Although, as great as they are, I would prefer that they speak a tad quicker.
Others can inform you of the great storyline, right now I'm mesmerized by the graphics and the flow of this game. And, again, I prefer giving my reviews after a completed game, but I couldn't wait to tell you about it, that is, what little bit I have told you about it. I bought this game at a great Big Fish discount as usual! Now I must go back to this gorgeous game!
