Based on a completed CE version, here's the short and the sweet of it. I'm rating this a 2-1/2-stars. Sorry Devs, but this series, to me, has grown old. I'm tired of the same old, same old. The flow was not there for me for some reason; I got bored along the way. I don't play the demos and usually wait for the discounts and often plunge right into buying the games, of course, after I've read most of the reviews. We each have different tastes and what matters to me, may be immaterial to others. I'm not sorry that I bought this game though because I may install it again someday and play it again. That's the beauty of owning these games. CE's for the most part can offer extras that are great and other times not. I should have bought the SE.
The graphics are beautiful as usual and the music is wonderful but the mini-games were irrational--unintelligible. The morphing objects, in my opinion, are a waste.
However, try the game and see for yourself. I recommend the game based on that.
I recommend this game!

Though I truly would like the Ravenhearst Saga to be put to rest, I thought that MCF: Key to Ravenhearst was absolutely brilliant.unlike MCF: Ravenhearst Unlocked. My review is based on a completed SE game.
To me, Key to Ravenhearst was the best of the entire series! Bravo, developers! Bravo! An extremely well-thought out game-plan, an awesome storyline that made sense--it was intelligent, there was a plethora of facts that were thrilling to read and tasks to accomplish at every turn. Puzzles within puzzles, those that appeared easy were actually hard and vice versa. Those got my adrenaline flowing once again and when that happens, you know it's a good game! A dysfunctional family is one thing but this goes beyond that. When you mix that with a diseased mind all the money in the world won't solve your problems. Parts of the story were rather sad and disturbing to me. I felt for the innocent victims mostly.
Alister's Enigma--puzzles and mini-games one after the other--and piecing all the information together making for quite an interesting story which explains the madness of the Ravenhearst family. Mental illness, murder, delusions of grandeur, and pure, unadulterated evil.
One of my favorite tasks was trying to get out of the pod chamber, ironically the movie, The Prestige, came to mind! LOL! No way was this detective going to go out that way!
I also loved the part about how to breed and care for a healthy raven flock. Alister's vigorous minions! His omnivores! You learn something everyday!
I played the harder mode but very much relied on the map, nine times out of ten, the map worked but there were times when it didn't, so I relied on the hint button from time to time. I'm glad I didn't get the CE version only because the morphing objects, if any, or collectibles, to me, can be a distraction. This SE version flowed like a charm, which I expect in a very good game.
The musical score was wonderful, the graphics superb, the voiceovers-actors were excellent. I thought I detected a British accent now and then, which I LOVE! Not once did I want to hurry up and finish this game. That should tell you something right there.
I highly recommend the SE version. Try it out. You won't be sorry. I still may end up getting the CE but the SE played like a CE without all the other trimmings. This game will not disappoint!!
I recommend this game!

Very refreshing game, I must say! My review is based upon a completed CE game. I enjoyed the main game and the bonus game very much. You are Mary, a botanist, set out to save your grandmother or Baba who was kidnapped by an evil force--Boruta.
Aside from the beautiful artwork, clever puzzles, fairly good hidden objects scenes, interactive pictures, the game-flow was okay not the greatest in my opinion. I'm rating the game a 4-star.
There were numerous tasks, which I always enjoy but for this game it took 4 to 5 steps to complete any given task, which really isn't a problem, but the time to complete them took too long. An example, you have a hurting cub that you need to tend to, but there are 16 other things you must do first. You will be going back n' forth, which is not a problem, because you have a good export map to rely on. Anyway, back to the poor cub, he could have bled to death by the time you got back to him! Yea, I know it's only a game, and, obviously, you will save the poor critter! I just don't like seeing children and animals suffering. For other tasks, fine, but for children and animals, let's nip it in the bud right away! I loved concocting the healing potion, but Devs, don't wait until practically the end of the chapter for us to tend to children and animals' wounds.
One glitch was that I had to click my mouse a few times to get an item in to my inventory. The game-plan was a little unorganized, but I really did like this game.
The artwork was stunning, the voiceovers were wonderful, the music was nice and there are lots of fun things to do.
The hidden object scenes were good but there were a few items that I had no idea what they were but figured it out without using the hint button or the guide. I usually play the harder/middle level. The HOS were not as innovative as in some other games I've played but they were okay.
All in all, it was a very good game--visually beautiful and rather pleasant for a change. I would recommend this game and don't forget to collect all the flowers.
I recommend this game!

My review is based on my nearing the end of the Main Game. It's not a bad game; in fact there is quite a bit to do. Some parts were brilliant. However, I started getting bored half-way into the game, sorry to say, Devs!
The graphics are not crisp enough but the artwork on the whole is very good. The mini-games are challenging but irrational in some cases. The explanations didn't leave much to be desired; the flow is helter-skelter--resulting in a mediocre game-play. You do get a lot for your money as this game is not a short one. I'm rating it 3-1/2 stars only.
The storyline is okay; the music is good but I've heard it before; although in some scenes there is a Bond feel, which is short and sweet throughout, and I liked that very much.
The junk piles are a lot better than they used to be but still somewhat grainy. Devs, you put a lot of work into this, no doubt, There were some great moments but not enough to float my boat. I'm not sorry I bought this game though.
As for the Sign Collectors, I didn't get them all because I forgot about them, but I'm sure there are more in the Bonus Game. Your ideas need refreshing! Kick it up a notch or two. Also, I think your intro needs a big change. It's a bit old. Just my opinion! You can take that for what it's worth--constructive criticism. You're still one of my fav devs no matter what!
The map was great; you did mention that this game is MA, which is a very good thing and I mean considering the serious subject matter!
I still recommend this game. Try it out, gamers and draw your own conclusions!
I recommend this game!

What an exciting, intelligent, and challenging game! I bought the CE version and completed the main game and am 1/4 into the Bonus Game, which seems to be just as enthralling.
I want to save my most important thoughts for last, so let's cover a few minor flaws in this game: the dialogue was a bit long-winded---but you could skip those, which I didn't because I loved the storyline and all the characters.
There was a lot of helpful text, which I did read, because the information, obviously, gave some helpful tips about forthcoming tasks. You will have many items in your inventory and a few will be useful throughout the game.
One of the male characters was giving Susan her next task, and as he was speaking the little girl's voice chimed in and took over his dialogue as his lips were still moving.
The storyline was intriguing and had me on the edge of my seat and I didn't want to stop playing but I had to take a break, as this game is quite long. There may have been a couple of grammatical errors, but as I said I read everything looking for clues.
Now did I mention that there are lots and lots and lots of items to retrieve? Well, there are lots and lots and lots of items to retrieve--so be prepared to go all over the place and back again. But the map is splendid. I was thrilled because I got all the morphing objects and figurines and all of Susan's items that fell out of her purse. Some of the figurines were tricky but I was able to get them without any help. I thoroughly enjoyed making the Elixir of Animation! Finding the seven tiles to complete all the elements was awesome. I mean this was one intelligent and intriguing game! Devs, you're awesome!
The hint button was there if you needed it; a journal as well which was quite helpful. I really got into the story! And, of course, the Strategy Guide is there if you need it. I like the option of customizing my level of play. I don't play the relax mode level nor the hardest level, depending on the game, that is. This game was intelligently written and had a reason for all its rhymes.
The mini-games were phenomenal--there were quite a few and I skipped about 5 of them, but I have the chance now to play them if I want to. Awesome!
The music was fabulous. It had that Journey to the Center of the Earth #by Jules Verne feel to it! Loved it.
The sound effects were the best I have ever heard in a game--they were outstanding and realistic. The voiceovers were excellent and the characters were wonderful.
The graphics were excellent--a wonderful variety of beautiful scenery and tons of unusual items.
This was one big production of a game. I kid you not. And regardless of the minor flaws, for the excitement, the game-flow, the intelligent tasks, music, mini-games, you name it, this game deserves a 5-star, hands down! You will get a lot of bang for the buck on this one, gamers! I highly recommend Lost Lands: The Golden Curse Collector's Edition. Developers, you deserve an award for one of the best games of all time! Bravo! You got my adrenaline flowing! That's a plus!
I recommend this game!

Brilliant game all around. Some glitches and inconsistencies and a missing word in one area (yes, I seem to be picky these days). I don't play demos so I wait for the discounts and Big Fish came through with this one. I played the CE and Bonus Game so my review is based on a completed game.
First, let me preface it to say that I know this is a game, but in reading reviews especially based upon a one-hour demo only, you really don't get the big picture. This game by Big Fish/Elephant Games is indeed the best of the Haunted Hotel series, but when it's going to be spooky or semi-spooky, mark it restricted or MA so the kids can't get at them. You know how in some games when animals are featured and a cub or puppy or kitten is lost and you come across its angry mommy but then you find the lost puppy, e.g., and return it to its mommy, well, not in this storyline. The kid is left on her own to return to her mommy. I won't tell you how because I'd be giving that part away except that I wasn't too keen about it. As much as I love animals, I love humans more. DEVS, I would have preferred it if the detective could have escorted the child to safety or have the mother come into the picture to retrieve the child. Due to the storyline you never knew when Nanny Ghost would return and as you can see I have quite an imagination and was worried that she'd be captured once again by this creepy entity.
The Nanny Ghost looked like a grown-up GRUDGE character from the movie. Very spooky indeed. I was caught off guard a couple of times. I didn't like the dripping bloody hands about to go around the child who was looking for her mommy either. Sorry, but I'm funny about these things which matter very much too me. I'm not giving this game a 5-star for this reason and for a couple more. This is just my opinion, so please take it for what it is worth everyone! But the game-play itself was excellent and very, very clever. Good graphics and tremendous amount of tasks to complete. I didn't get bored once on this game.
Game flow was great; puzzles were amazing; HOPS were grand; music was great but repetitious. I play most of my games on my laptop so some of the objects were difficult to find but I found them w/o using the hint button. I found all the petals; all the orphans' portraits; I got most of the achievements not all. The puzzles weren't terribly hard but very tricky and a lot of fun. I enjoyed those very much. Once you complete the Bonus Game you will open up the Secret Room which is very cool. I love Secret Rooms in the Bonus Game and all CE's should have them.
I recommend this game but it should be marked for mature audiences. Whether some of the reviewers found this not as scary as some is immaterial here. Now on to a more pleasant game with a good plot, beautiful scenery, et al.
I recommend this game!

I've finished the main game and am half-way through the bonus game. There is no doubt in my mind that the devs, innovative as they are, put a lot of work into this game. The graphics, on the whole, are quite beautiful but the same old stuff. Some fragments were difficult to find. There's usually 9 to 10 items in your inventory at a shot. The flow is not all that great. I didn't find all the snowflakes, the game is long, which is a good thing, but in this case, I can't wait until it's over. So many objects to collect and I'm bored with those; I'm definitely bored with collecting fragments--not exciting at all. The storyline is odd. Visually this game is lovely and the sound is great. The map was pretty decent and the hint button works. I customized my level to be slightly harder but still the game flow was frustrating. The puzzles were very tricky and tedious, and I skipped a few but only because I was frustrated and lacked interest in some of them. I was not fond of the token mini-games at all. Those bored me, too.
Devs, you can do better than this. Do something about your HOS/fragments--maybe every other HOP scene use those but as it stands now it's a bit too much. Those are ho-hum...but the objects to be found were ornate and beautiful but there were far too many of them. So non-challenging! I still recommend this game because others may really end up liking it.
I recommend this game!

You are Emma Roberts who is called in to investigate strange happenings at Eastwood. But what I really liked about this game was the mom who was looking for her daughter. Moms are the best!
My review is based on a completed CE version. Other reviewers have broken down the storyline of the game for you, so you don't need me to elaborate, plus that's not my bag any way. Of course, the storyline is important to me but more than that I focus on game flow, organization of tasks and thoughts behind the game plan, graphics, music, tasks and mini games, puzzles, scenery. The mini games were so-so to be honest. I think this game warrants a 4-star. However, I must give a shout out to the devs for putting a lot of thought and work into this game. Kudos to you all!
I skipped a few puzzles not because they were hard but because I didn't have the patience to stick it out. I wanted to move on to the game. I got 30 out of 35 seer objects. most of the beyond objects and lots of achievements but not all. Those were fun needless to say. The interactive hidden objects scenes were very good and I liked the fact that you could switch over to puzzle mode because there is always that one last object that's like a needle in a haystack in hidden object scenes, and having the option to switch to puzzle mode was great.
You will frequent same scenes; good map and hint button if you need it. Loads of things to do, which is a good thing.
Graphics were good but grainy and some objects were hard to determine what they were. Music was very good, voiceovers/actors were great!
You will get your money's worth on this game. Big Fish offers some great discounts often. I loved the ending to the Bonus Game. That made the whole game worthwhile to play. I definitely recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

Bought the CE, just finished the main game and let me tell you, what a spooky and intense ride you will experience if you make it that far! I've seen enough spooky movies to know by now what to expect but even with one eye shut and two fingers over my other eye--I did peek and let out a couple of screams that could rival any scream in every horror film made! I refused to play this game late at night. It took me 4 hours to complete the main game. Didn't play it all at once though.
Ingenious tasks to complete, morphing objects in various scenes and in the HOS as well. Some of the comments were humorous and the voiceovers were excellent. Dark, dreary scenes, nonetheless, and I couldn't wait to get out of the maze but you were so busy trying to stay alive that time will fly. But that brat demon is creepy to say the least!
Game-play flowed like a charm! Extremely thought-provoking, well-written, well-designed, well-organized game. Sound effects were eerie naturally, the graphics dark and gloomy. I'm not really a fan of these types of games but I thought I'd try it out. Brilliant game all around. I don't need to get into the specifics; other reviewers have given you the low-down quite well. I do recommend the game but be aware it is for mature audiences. Keep this game away from the kiddies. I highly recommend this game! Kudos to the developers or should I call them psychos!

I have ambivalent feelings about this game. It's challenging and I love the fact that you have lots to do but at the same time it is one of the most disorganized games I've ever played. I love the HOS. The artwork is good, the voiceovers are very good but you're all over the place much like puzzle pieces strewn all over the house! If you like that sort of thing, then go for it!
The map does not transport you but shows where tasks need to be done. I don't really need it actually because I pretty much know that so far every room I've encountered needs an object to be found time and time again. I'm one-third in to the game and can't wait until it's over. I'll painstakingly stick it out because I'm not a quitter, but that's about it! Many of the reviewers love this game and its challenges, I prefer games that flow, that make sense but your mind will get a good workout with this one for sure. My patience is wearing thin with this one because its illogical. It lacks all the whistles and bells but that's okay because it has its good points. This is an SE version which is very much like a CE version so perhaps you'll get your money's worth on this one!
I recommend this game!
