Really enjoyed spending a rainy, hot Florida day with this game. Poor ol' SG will just never learn.
Graphics were excellent as were the voice overs and effects. The music is pretty much what they have for all the Haunted Legends games, but it wasn't irritating and went along with the action.
My only problems with the game were those minis. They were very much WAY past my patience level. With all the pictures to put together and the rest I was so glad they had the custom mode so I could click skip as soon as possible. Those of you who love, what I term, extremely difficult, time consuming mini games, you're going to love this one. Not much new in the hidden objects. There seemed to be a lot of silhouettes at the beginning, but some were just pick them out and others were interactive. Of course there were lists and a mixture of about all of them in one scene. They were challenging in their own right. You have an interactive map which transports you, but it didn't seem to be as helpful as others. I would have nothing left to do in an area and couldn't figure out where to go and would click on the map. There was nothing indicated, so it was hit the hint button until I found someplace. You are able to move the map to see other locations so before you get frustrated, move the map around. There is a lot of skipping back and forth. One thing I did notice that was different from previous versions, were the cut scenes. There was an over abundance of them and they were long. Just seemed strange to me.
I won't go into the story. Others have done that and Big Fish sets the scene for you. I will say I was rather disappointed in the ending. It seemed to... well, just end. Other than that it was a good story and was pretty consistent in its telling.
So, if you love those hard mini games, and challenging hidden object scenes you are going to love this one. Give the demo a shot and I think you'll like it too. At least there aren't any witches and ghosts. What an improvement over what we've been getting.
This was a pretty good game. I enjoyed playing as the whole thing came together. I bought this game, because it wasn't involving ghosts and witches and such. Thank you Eipix for taking the lead in changing the themes we have had for so long.
Graphics were well done and the sound including effects and voice overs were excellent was we have come to expect from this developer. Music went along with the action and wasn't irritating at all.
The only problem I had with the game were the minis. They were way beyond my capabilities and patience level. The hidden objects were varied and kept my interest throughout the game. The most helpful item in the game was the map. Had it not been for it, I would still be wondering around trying to figure things out.
Big Fish does a great job laying out the story so I'll not go into it, except to say there are famous names you will recognize in this one that keeps things interesting. So far as the story it had a beginning and an ending. Some times the points in-between got a bit foggy, but all in all it was a great story.
Again, I'm so happy to see a game without ghosts I could just jump up and down in the middle of Main Street. So glad it had something kind of real and a male protagonist. Got to leave my high heels in the closet this time.
Give the demo a try and I think you will enjoy this one too.
This was not a fun game for me whatsoever. It is beyond the supernatural stuff we've been stuck with for the longest time, only this one, it is as much a fairy tale as it is .. I don't know what to call it.
The graphics were well done and the sound was excellent. Music went along with the action in the story and was not bad at all. Colors were okay and the scenes were crisp and clean.
There were a few new twists on old games, so nothing really new in this one. The hidden objects ran from lists to completing pictures from words in a story. The mini games were not very hard, because I completed most of them. As a helper, you have a salamander who lights areas and of course burns things out of your way. Just an added gimmick with little value. The map was helpful. It transported and showed where there were things to do.
The story was, as Big Fish explains, getting your uncle out of an enchanted book. So tiring and predictable.
I don't like to write negative reviews, because I realize someone on the other end put hours and hours in developing these games, but this one fell short even beyond my worse expectations. Again, it is time to get away from this supernatural theme the developers seem to have been stuck in for so long.
This is another hit for the Hidden Expedition series. I've been waiting for what seems like an eternity for the SE to come out and I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed playing with just one exception. I am going to replay the game to see if I can over come that exception as soon as I am finished writing this, but I wanted to give my first impressions, before I go at it again.
As usual, the graphics were very good and the sound quality was top notch. Effects when along with the action as did the music.
I said there was one exception from loving this game and really liking it. That would be those cursed mini games. They were either over my head or way past my patience level. I found them extremely difficult and only completed a couple of them. Some times I just could not understand what I had to do. Hence the second attempt here shortly. I wish instead of offering a secondary game like match 3 instead of hidden objects, they would start offering that option for mini games. I know there are those who love them, but I get so frustrated I just count the seconds when I can hit the skip button. Hidden objects were good and varied which kept my interest.
There are several levels of play. I used the custom so I could set the skip and hint buttons at their quickest times. The map was a big help. It not only transports, but shows where there are things to do. I enjoy this feature tremendously.
The story was very good. As you know if you have played the Hidden Expedition game before, you get the information cards. For some reason I just didn't get into them like I have in previous games. I think it is because I've never been into the Norse gods and the history of the region. I won't go into the story itself. Big Fish gives you enough information to set the scene, but I did like it very much. At least there were not ghosts or witches for a change. It may be far fetched, but this type of story is much more to my liking than those which have come out over the past several months.
Give the demo a try. I do believe, especially if you are a mini game lover, you will like this game as much as I did.
I really enjoyed this one. Wasn't really sure what to expect, but I got hooked on the demo and realized it was a buy for me. I enjoyed about everything in this game, with the exception of those blessed mini games. Wow, they kicked me hard.
Graphics and sound were excellent. Voice overs were very well done and the effects along with the music went along with the story.
I rated the level of challenge 5 stars, because I realize I'm not the brightest bulb in the box and there are players who will find them to their liking. Most of them I couldn't figure out what in the world to do. I hate those things anyway, but when I can't understand the premise it's over before it gets started. Yes, I used the custom setting and had a quick hint and skip button. Hidden objects were varied and some were very challenging. They ranged from the list to silhouette to combinations, and others. They did keep my entertained.
The story was really interesting. I thought in the beginning it was going to be the tired old ghost story, but was pleasantly surprised with how it was put together and progressed.
The game seemed short to me. However, if I had played those silly mini games it would have been much... MUCH longer. If you are a mini game lover you're going to love this game. There seemed to be a good mixture of hidden object and minis and was the most challenging I've played in a long time.
Give the demo a try and I think you'll enjoy this one as much as I did.
I really enjoyed this one. Although it did deal with the supernatural, it was more than that. It offered a real story with great games and skill levels that I enjoy.
Graphics were excellent. Colors were pleasant and real to life and the sound, including the voice overs were well done. Even the music was very tolerable.
I mentioned that the levels of skill were to my liking. I even played most of the mini games. There were a few that didn't make sense to me, but bless that custom difficulty level. I set it to the quickest for hint and skip so it was just matter of hitting that magic button and off I went to the next part. Hidden objects, although nothing new we haven't seen before, were varied and kept my interest. As mentioned there are several degrees of difficulty from normal to custom. I am so glad the developers have about all added that custom one.
I enjoyed the story. Even though it did have ghosts, the story had me from the very beginning and even though I figured out what was going on and who the culprit was early on, it still kept me wondering until the very end. Was it the ghost or the butcher returned to seek revenge? Guess you'll have to play to find out.
All in all this was a very good game. I'm one of those who likes James and would have liked to have seen more of him, but maybe next time.
Give the demo a try and see what you think. It was a buy for me and I swore off supernatural games, so you know there must be something more to this than that. This may very well be my game of the year.

I generally do not post after playing only the demo, but this one got me. I could not figure it out to save me. I so wanted a new, good match game, and from reading the reviews I thought this would be it, but boy did I miss something. I played and play on one level trying to get two coins and after a long time, the game finally said, "Looks like you have a problem, do you want to skip this level." Oh boy did I.
I'm sure this is a fantastic game, but not for me. Perhaps if I had played the previous versions I would have understood what was going on, but this one, no way.
There is a decent tutorial so far as it goes, but there is no hint or anything like a power up to get you out of trouble with the exception of lightning bolt, but those have to be in certain places and you need three of them to make an explosion.
Give the demo a try and see what you think, but as for me, I'll keep looking.

I found this to not be as much fun as I expected. The reasons will be listed below. That isn't to say it is a bad game, but just not what I really like.
The graphics were acceptable and the sound, including voice overs were very well done. Music was good and didn't get on my nerves. Colors were in keeping with this type of theme. The ice blue was really pretty.
So far a challenging, this is one of my disappointments. Normally I don't care for the silhouette hidden objects, but in this case they were much better than trying to find things from a list that I had no idea what they were. Many were made up from the sci-fi vocabulary and made no sense to me. It was just point, click and hope for the best. I do believe I used the hint in this game more than any other. There are several types of hidden object scenes, from the silhouette, lists, interactive, and morphing. Mini games, well they were mini games which are not my favorites. I tried them all, but generally skipped after a few attempts. Those who like to spend the time figuring them out will really enjoy this game for sure.
Not really happy with the story line. I think it was okay, but I'm just tired of the supernatural, sci-fi, witches, ghosts and such that seems to be the only themes the developers can make these days. Just wishing for an old fashioned murder mystery sometime or another. I won't go into the story, because Big Fish gives you enough to get the idea.
If you are a sci-fi buff you will probably enjoy this more than I. Give the demo a try and see what you think.
I own all of this series, and while this one is not my favorite of them, it ranks right up there. It was fun and I really liked having Will there as a male to help me traverse the pitfalls of the city.
Graphics and sound was really good. Voice overs were well done and the music went right along with the action in the scenes.
I liked this because I did the majority of the mini games which are not normally my strong suit. I disliked it because all the hidden object scenes were silhouette, my least favorite. However, having said that, they were mostly interactive and were challenging enough to keep me interested. They need to mix up the types of hidden objects and I would have been a happy camper. As tools, you have a journal, which I didn't use, so it wasn't very necessary. There is an interactive map which was a must for me. They do have you jumping from place to place to place to place and I couldn't tell where I had to go. Honestly, I gave up trying to figure it out and just used the map. There are three degrees of difficulty and with the easy you can set your hint and skip times lower.
The story was supernatural in nature which I swore I would quit buying, but I enjoyed the other games in the series enough that I did take the chance and purchased it. It's a decent story and is pretty well put together, but it did take you all over without tying things together. Still, it was a good time.
Give the demo a try and see if you don't like it too.
This, of course, is a sequel and while it is somewhat like the others, it is different in its own right. I found just about everything in the game fun and can't wait to play it again. I guess my desire to visit Cuba one day plays a part in my enjoyment of the game.
Graphics were well done. This developer almost always comes through. Voice overs and music were fantastic. Effects were good also and went along with the story. They did a super job on them. I particularly liked the background for some reason. Normally I don't pay much attention to them, but I found myself getting absorbed in the scenes.
The challenge was just about right for me. I am not one to sit and ponder those mini games. These offered a challenge, but weren't enough to drive me straight to the skip button. The hidden object scenes were excellent. Not just piles of junk. They were well hidden, but in an orderly manner. Also there is a variety of scenes which breaks up the time a bit for me. The tools are several levels of difficulty, from which I chose the custom. You can set the skip and hints to a quicker time. Also there is an interactive map which I used quite a bit when I would get stuck. It does show where there are things to be done. I like that.
Really enjoyed the story. I was immersed from the very beginning and while it did have elements from the other games, it too was a little different. I won't go into the story itself. Big Fish does a great job laying the foundation for you, but I will say once I got into the story during the demo, I was hooked and it continued all the way through the game.
Again, this is a great game. Play the demo and I think you too will be looking for a night in Old Havana. See you there!
