Let me address the length of the game. Some reviewers feel that it is too short. While it is true that this game takes fewer hours to play than many RPGs, the reason is that Skyborn eliminates two annoying time wasters so common to other RPGs.
First, the game is paced so that you don't have to spend countless hours playing the same area over and over and over again simply to level up your characters. In most RPGs, I spend up to half my playing time enduring the mind numbing boredom of replaying the same area.
Second, the game does away with secret rooms. Without them, you don't have to waste hours touching every single pixel in the game looking for secret entrances. Perhaps, that is a problem for some advanced players, but this intermediate player did not miss the tediousness of having to touch everything on every screen in the game.
Aside from that, the game was fun and challenging. The only blemish for me was a little too much dialogue.
I recommend this game!

Yes, I played Myst years ago, so I understand that there are no instructions and you have to figure everything out for yourself. That's not the problem. If you go to the forum for this game, you will notice that almost all the entries are for technical problems. Not minor stuff either. The bugs are for issues fundamental to playing the game. For example, you can't save your game. Or that it freezes up every time you try to read a message.
I am not a technical guy, so solutions involving tweaking the computer or changing settings in various files are dead on arrival for me. Save your money.
I don't recommend this game.

This is only the second time I quit a game without finishing. This game was annoying and frustrating.
Problem 1 - There is no thinking involved. You get popups here and there telling you what needs to be done. Until you get those popups, you can't upgrade or construct anything.
Problem 2 - The popups are idiotic. You constantly get popups telling you to construct a building even though there is no place to put one. Or to upgrade buildings even though you haven't yet earned the ability to do so.
Problem 3 - The instructions don't instruct. Although the game is mostly intuitive, there are things you need to do that actually require instructions. At one point I needed to talk to a character in order to go forward. Problem was that I needed oratory level 3 and I was only at oratory level 2. How do I increase my oratory level? Your guess is as good as mine because the instructions don't say a word about it.
Save your time and money.
I don't recommend this game.

I played Kingdom Chronicles SE. The game is really fun. There is always a lot of action that you have to pay attention to. The game is fair. Although I was able to get gold on all the levels, there were only a few where I got it on the first try. This is one of my favorite time and resource management games.
I recommend this game!

This is my favorite RPG so far. Like any RPG, there are features that won't appeal to everybody. To get through the game and to make a dent in the side quests, you have to look EVERYWHERE and talk to EVERYONE and keep track of all of it. The lands you explore are large and there are a lot of them.
Like other RPGs you have to make choices that will affect things later in the game. These choices won't prevent you from winning, but they could prevent you from completing all the side quests.
But if you enjoy that style of game, this game is well done and will keep you going for a good long time.
In particular, this game avoided a tedious and irritating problem I found in all the other RPGs. In the other RPGs, I've had to replay some levels dozens of times for no other reason than to power up my characters. This game is so well paced that it completely avoids that problem. Also, the story line is really good. It starts out going in one direction and slowly evolves into something else.
If you like RPGs try this one.
I recommend this game!

Aveyond 1 was an amazing game and is my favorite. Aveyond 2 had some annoying features that destroyed any enjoyment I might have gotten from the game. First, the game was poorly paced. When I finished all the preliminary quests and was ready to start approaching the final villain, all the members of my party were well short of their maximum strengths. To build them up, I had to keep replaying the same level over and over again. According to the game's timer, I spent more than half the time replaying that one level.
Second, even when I had maxed out the party's skill level, I still could not beat the creatures guarding the final villain. After days of trying - and several trips to the forum for hints - I gave up.
Third, some of the puzzles were unfair. For example, in one quest you have to find an object where you are not told what it looks like nor where it might be. If you want to find it on your own, you have to search every part of the Aveyond universe clicking on every single object you see. Talk about tedious.
As much as I loved Aveyond 1, this sequel was a horrible disappointment.
I don't recommend this game.

If your taste is linear HO/P/A games, pass this one up. Otherwise, get ready for an awesome game. It is decidedly non-linear. And you definitely get your money's worth. It took me around 80 hours to play although I did manage to finish all the side quests. (Yes. Eighty.)
Although the beasties and the bosses get harder as you move through the game, your skills increase just as fast. And figuring out which characters to use in each situation just adds to the fun.
At first, I found the size of the areas to be explored overwhelming but soon I figured out how to deal with that.. (Hint: I used a left hand rule.)
Aveyond was my first RPG and I am hooked.
I recommend this game!

This game was fun. I loved that it was not linear. You could spend time advancing the main story or one of the side quests. Yes, it could have been a bit longer and the world could have been a bit bigger. On the other hand, even at this size it was hard enough keeping all the vendors straight - who buys mushrooms and who sells pickaxes, etc. Can't wait for the next installment.
I recommend this game!

The first three Azadas were fun and clever puzzle / adventure games. This one is different - and not for the better - in a few ways.
This one is now a standard HO / puzzle / adventure game. In fairness it has fewer HOSs than most HO/P/A games, but I liked the other Azadas precisely because they had no HOSs.
The storyline in the other Azadas was interesting and different. In this one, it is pretty much like every other HO/P/A game - the evil villain will destroy the city / the kingdom / the universe and only you can stop them.
ERS seems to have run out of energy before finishing this game. The last of the three worlds in this game was kind of short and less challenging than the first two.
Finally, to distract you from the game's shortcomings, ERS introduced a childish and annoying "pet". The pet doesn't affect the game play except to pop up every now and then and chatter about how wonderful you are in a really irritating voice. I would have been happier if they left this out.
I am disappointed in this game because it was sold as an Azada, but was nothing like the ones before. However, once you get past that, it's actually a pretty good HO/P/A game. The interactive HOSs were fair and challenging as
were the puzzles and adventures. If it had been sold as something other than Azada, I would have rated it better.
I recommend this game!

Most games that bill themselves as HOG / Adventure / Puzzle usually have a good mix of all three. This game definitely favors the HOSs. I found the HOSs more challenging than usual. That being said, I thought that this game had more unfair objects than most. By unfair object I mean the kind of object that you could stare at for days and not recognize it. Sometimes it was the graphics, sometimes poor translation into American English and sometimes it was that the object was too close in color to the background.
Although they got less emphasis than the HOSs, the adventure and puzzle aspects of the game were not bad.
I don't usually give much weight to storyline since most of them are the same. (Something evil wants to take over the city / the kingdom / the universe). Same with voiceovers. ("You'll never stop me hero / heroine. Mwa-ha-ha-ha.") Granted, this game didn't have voiceovers, but the text in the cut scenes had the same effect. In those respects this game was very average. However, I hated the soundtrack, particularly the part that was clanging all the time. Very annoying.
I don't recommend this game.
