Now that's a unique game, both scenario-wise and atmospheric. Find morphing items and collectable items (stone parrots and other creatures) and most importantly... beware of the Dragons. The mini puzzle, where you switch between the different lit Incas scenes to find the symbols, is just stunning! The end was somewhat abrupt. The music was mostly sounds or sound effects (musical reactions). And the true end comes with the bonus game, which is short by rewarding -kinda. I particularly like the vivid colors in this game, which are a trademark.
I guess the critic and commenting about having a helper to reach difficult or high places was such, that the team decided to make a version that includes and a version that excludes the tiny helper! Well, I played this with the scarecrow, only because it's more fun that way. Although I can understand those disagreeing. Look for owls in every scene and collect throughout the game creatures like the one you have (not necessarily in every scene). The menu bar is a bit quirky but you'll get used to it -or not! The ending of the main game is an absolute buster... such disappointment, nearly cartoonish with so much blah, blah... Contrary to the bonus game which again is absolutely marvelous!
Although after 13 episodes, this game has for sure its own fan club, I always miss the smoothness in the art work that other games posses. I don't like the mini-sized dog helper. Not only is he ugly but also, does he have to bark every time he accomplishes something? Or, in a particular scene, wait for the pocket dog to eat, then barf (!!!), and then go fetch and bark?! And what is this with its shaved... behind? I mean, come on guys. If you like humor, you must do better. After all, I'm a cat person! Also, every time you try to use an object from your inventory that isn't correct to do something, you hear a discomforting sound like a spring. Overall, you must collect: morphing items, shards and glass/icy figures like owls. Another remark: The mini HOG scene with the constellation chart is just insane. And scenario-wise, I would have liked it to be more fluent.
wow. A story like fairy tale with many actions and reactions. It also constists of some pretty neat tricks, like bubbles that burst when touched, water that splashes, armor that brakes etc. Although this game is kinda simplistic in its game play, it certainly is most enjoyable and with a very-very strong scenario!
I'm not crazy about this game, in general. And for me, this particular episode was on the minus side. You collect different color flowers (white, yellow and red) and dolls. Also, don't forget to look up or down in some micro-scenes, as there is more than meets the eye. Fun fact: In the cave, the armband in your left hand has changed, from a thick bracelet to beads. The story is cohesive but it lacks action, it urgently needs better artwork and more confidence! The bonus game just repeats the main game, in terms of graphics and scenery. Also, pretty disappointing wallpapers...
Everything in fairy tales is true... Or not?! Depends on the fairy tale I guess. And this one is for me a bit aggressive and boring. I mean, take for example the boar's voice and all this blah, blah.. Some action would be nice! Aren't we in a hurry?! So, overall, the dialogues or rather the voice-over scripts are bad and amateuristic... Most of the puzzles are too simplistic. And the whole game feels... I don't know, not quite finished? Not sure, not ready? For me, I think the most amusing moment in the whole game was in the bonus game, when the purple fireplace asked to be fed! And... cut.
Well, my first few minutes reaction would be that, although it could have been something unique entirely, the concept is completely abstract and the gameplay boring. Also, on the negative side I categorize the fact that, when you can interact with an object, until now the plus sign in the menu bar changed its color when it was "inactive" or "active". In this game, it stays a black plus sign always, even when you CAN combine it with something or even use it as it is! Frustrating... But, having played more than just a few minutes and getting past that first scenes, I say that this game has an old-school flair, which is a great thing. I also just loved the voice-over of the characters! Their micro-expressions are one of the best out there! in this genre Other notes: You must find morphing and collectable objects, as well as papyrus's. And in the bonus game, 12 mushrooms, so 12 "more" scenes! Most of its mini HOGs, don't rely in finding the correct items from a bunch, but rather in finding some items and then combining them to proceed. You'll get the hang of it, after a while. And yes, this is a Mad-Max sort of based game, so lots of fun!
Everything in this game is well-thought and executed. A solid story line, powerful gameplay, daunting music and sound effects... Particularly the wooden sound-effect reminded me of the Ring... quite dooming! And although I hate morphing objects (in this case it's morphing plus picture pieces) 'cause they draw my attention on the wrong places, the cursor changes everytime you hover above them! So, big wow, what a marvelous improvement for this game title.
You get postcards which you can assimilate on the screen, as you approach new territories. Every scene holds a "hidden" owl which you should collect. You'll find them in the most... extraordinary spots! I think 2 per screen... I really like the (really few) games, that let you compensate for the missing collect item by going back. This is not one of them! Overall, a descent, ok game which could (and we are anticipating it) and should elevate itself.
Travel into the past... Something really-really dark sucks in the life of people, trapping them into their own worse day... What a game, with a unique character and a distinctive artwork. And although not all the puzzles were well executed, technically, this HOG is true to its fame and nature. Glad to be back!
