I played this game years ago but it somehow got deleted off my pc so I decided to buy it again recently. Even though I've played many HOG's with stunning graphics and big storylines this is a fantastic HO and puzzle game.
Don't knock it because its old, its still a goodie!!!!
If a game is about the Titanic, Jack the Ripper or Dr Jekyll I am compelled to try it despite the reviews.
The graphics definitely gave it that 19th century London feel which is a must. Another reviewer mentioned that there was no voice-overs which is weird at first but then one gets used to it.
Good HO's, puzzles, spot the difference with that creepy old London feel makes for a good game.
Maybe I'm just partial to this type of game because of the storyline and setting but I enjoyed it and recommend it. Plus it helps that I watched the movie the other day :-)
I just did a review for Devil on the Mississippi and realised that I haven't done one yet for Ghostwriting and its one of my favourites.
I've had this game for over a year or maybe a bit longer and I always go back to play it again. It is not easy at all finding the clovers and I love it!!!! Love the graphics, storyline, HO's, puzzles, raven and bonus chapter.
I played the demo a couple of months ago and decided immediately I wanted this game.
I enjoyed the storyline and the graphics suited the game. HO's could have been more challenging but at least most of the puzzles made up for that.
The only thing I didnt like about the game was that the detective had special powers and was some sort of a werewolf as well. That part of the game needs to be scrapped as it doesn't make any sense.
All roads lead to Rome! With thousands of years of art, history, and culture on display, it's the perfect destination for your next Big City Adventure.
I played the Sydney game years ago and I really enjoyed it so I thought I really need to try another Big City game. The Rome game is unfortunately far too easy and very repetitive, no challenge at all.
I stopped playing but didnt want to waste the game so I played this as an in-betweener just to kill time. I really hope Shanghai will be better.
I think the graphics suited the storyline 100%, definitely made you feel like you're in that time period and that's why I gave it an extra star.
I at least struggled to find HO and sometimes had to use the hint button which was great, I hate it when its too easy. The puzzles were inbetween, some easy and some difficult but fun at least.
I think the guy in the mask and the kidnapping could have been cut out and instead the story could have been just about lifting the curse. I find that sometimes adding humans to a story takes away some of the mystical and scary factor.
The graphics are beautiful, there's no doubt about it but there was no creepy factor. Everything looked so bright and christmassy that it didn't feel scary at all having strange animals around that could kill you. In fact I played this game about a week ago and I needed to read the write-up again to remind me what the game was about.
The HO games were way too easy, the items are so huge that players like me with bad eyesight have no problem spotting them at all. Some of the puzzles were too easy and others again I just skipped because I didn't feel excited about giving them a go.
This is a good game for HO fans that aren't too bothered about the storyline but for me the scenes need to fit the storyline and if its supposed to be a scary/creepy game etc then the graphics need to be as well.
This is not quite up there with The Legacy but I quite enjoyed it. I just played this game for the 2nd time and I like the fact that a court case is in progress and I have to save my nephew from being wrongfully imprisoned. No overly long dialogue and not as much back and forth as The Heir and The Wishes which I didn't enjoy at all. This is not a "wrack your brain" type of game but it is enjoyable.
Think this was one of my very first MCF games back in the day. Its enjoyable just to sit back now and then and find hidden objects without huge story-lines and going back and forth in a game. This game is really chilled unless you're running out of time and the puzzle after each scene is enjoyable as well.
