For once one had to do some real detective work for a change instead of just finding inventory. You have to interview a lot of people and they lie to you which is exactly what people with an agenda or something to hide will do.
This was very different to the usual HOG's so it makes for a nice change. Finally, a game where the ending is not given away right at the beginning.
Find the festivalgoer abducted by the gargoyles of Notre Dame and uncover the cathedral’s dark past in this reimagining of the Victor Hugo’s classic tale.
I was really hoping that I would enjoy this game as its set in France and it just seemed as it would be different to other games.
Unfortunately with all the back and forth it's a good thing one has a map. Maybe I'm just slow but I needed the map a lot because I couldn't remember where I needed to use the inventory.
At the end of the day it turned out to be the usual type of game and the fact that it was set in France, had gargoyles and a hunch back didn't make things more exciting like I hoped.
I was disappointed that the game revealed the creature right at the beginning. I was hoping one would wonder if its your sister or the creature and what it looks like but that was revealed far too soon which is a pity. Otherwise I rather enjoyed it despite the back and forth and yes I had to use the hint button quite a bit as there's no map.
I enjoyed the different type of HOS where objects could be moved with other objects behind it. The bonus chapter was almost entirely HOS which I enjoyed but its not worth being a CE in my opinion.
Quite a nice game but I'd say skip the CE or buy on sale.
I hate giving bad reviews and I really thought this was going to be a good game after reading the such good reviews. Maybe I'm just playing too many hidden object games, I"m not sure.
I actually liked the old school graphics as it fitted the time period but that's where the good stuff ends. There was far too many repeats of hidden object scenes, way too much back and forth, most puzzles weren't explained properly so I had to skip them, finding too many small irrelevant objects and no change in the story at all. Usually I love long games but this game would not end, I even stopped now and then and played Xmas Wonderland in between.
Such a waste of what could have been a good storyline and game :-(
Just did a review on park ranger 5 and this is pretty much the same. The games are quite similar with no real storyline but it has beautiful scenery, hidden object scenes that aren't as easy as they look and pretty simple puzzles in between.
These games are good for this time of year, relaxing and fun.
This is a good de-stressor game but not as easy as one would think. There's no collecting of inventory, trying to solve mysteries etc, just good clean hidden object scenes. Yes there's no real story and the game is way too short but its a whole lot of fun and its really not that easy to find all the objects.
Just sit back, relax and enjoy because sometimes its nice to play a game where there's no solving of a mystery etc.
I agree with other comments, the characters as to who they actually were was quite confusing. The haunted hotel look and feel disappeared very quickly and the nightmares begin which aren't very nightmare-ish at all. The constant back and forth became a drag after a while. While this wasn't a horrible game, it was very good either.
I enjoyed the beautiful graphics and the options one gets for the HOS, loved questioning the suspects and how one really has to scan the rooms really well to find a star.
However, the evidence and clue files had no purpose at all and I didn't see the point of the bonus chapter either which was really dull.
But not a bad game all in all, probably better as a SE and for beginners.
If you thought Burger Shop 2 was challenging you need to give this one a try. This is a super challenging game, my mouse reflexes are just not that good. I still haven't completed all of the levels on story mode or expert mode. I really wish that there was a Burger Shop 3 because I can't find a tm game that's this good :-(
