The story revolves around Goldilocks and her husband and son. I don't want to give anything away but suffice it to say her son is "beary" special.
For the first time in the series, we get customizable setting options with this game. The story was rather an interesting one and the puzzles were fun and just challenging enough. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us next time!
I've had this game on my computer for about 4 years and I still go back and play it again. It's THAT good!!
You get a lot of bang for your buck with this game. The SE game itself is pretty long and then you get a bonus chapter with the CE. They also have a really cool trophy room and my favorite part...a cute little squirrel to fix up a cozy house for!!!
This game is a big step up from the first in the series (Ice Rose). They've added a map and voice-overs. It's loosely based upon the Snow White and the Evil Queen story (the evil queen even VERY closely resembles Charlize Theron). The puzzles are challenging and loads of fun and there was SO much to do. You'll love it!!!
This is a game that I've come back to several times over the years because it's simple, challenging and fun!
It's old school, so there's no map and the hints aren't always helpful but if you play it at a beginner's level you shouldn't have any trouble. The imagery is beautiful and the mini-puzzles are challenging. I always enjoy it!
I was shocked at the reviews of this game. It may not be the best in the series but it wasn't as bad as all that. Try it out with the free trial before you pass on this beauty...you won't regret it!!
In this game we meet some sort of Swan Army that works for the Goddess Flora. Well, things aren't what they seem and you get to team up with Ross Red (Snow White's bubby) to save the kingdom from the traitor.
I initially thought this game was about the Swan Lake Princess (one of the MANY wives of the Frog Prince), but it wasn't. However, they did have a nice little homage to her during the game.
The graphics alone are worth playing these games to me. I feel that Eipix and Blue Tea really go out of their way to make these games truly beautiful. The fun puzzles are really just the icing on the cake!
If you've played the previous DP games, you'll be familiar with the characters of Gerda, Kai and Prince Gwyn. Well, they're all grown up now and causing trouble of their own!! Of course, it's Fairytale Detective to the rescue (after she gets thrown from her horse for the 12th time...seriously lady, find an alternative means of transportation!).
We also get visited by a couple of adult characters from former games. It's quite the reunion! The story had elements of Scandinavian and Middle Eastern folklore by way of Russian history.
I really enjoyed this game. The artwork, as usual, was superb. The mini-games were lots of fun, too. Some so challenging, I had to skip (I wasn't a fan of the puzzles with the little dots and arrows...thank goodness for customizable settings!). Very exciting and highly recommended!
So, in this game, one of Anna's newly found relatives decides to dig into the family's past and, OF COURSE, Anna has to use her powers to rescue her with a little help from her increasingly annoying father/skull.
This story had elements of both Frankenstein and The Time Machine. I enjoyed going into the dark ages of Anna's family. It had a very authentic feel about it, with the plague masks and the apothecaries (except for the typewriter, which wouldn't have been around at that time).
My remaining problem with these games is that they seem to get shorter each time. I had the pleasure of beta-testing this game and was really looking forward to it but it seems it was over before it had barely begun.
Anna Gray is back with a little help from one of her weird, newly rehabilitated relatives. We're introduced to the Black family, who's family apparently goes way back with the Gray's and who's family head, Dorian Black, will definitely remind you of a certain character from an Oscar Wilde novel. There will be some twists and turns involving an eccentric school headmistress, but you'll have to play the game to see that.
The graphics on this game were amazing...the ghosts actually fly out at you! My only beef is that the game seemed a bit short, which is a shame, because I was really enjoying it.
Once again, poor Anna Gray is called upon to help save her weird relatives from her other weird relatives.
In this game, Brandon is all grown up with a family of his own. Aunt Gray has to come in and, once again, help save them from a shadowy evil presence that's trying to destroy them all. A relative from a past game has a part to play in this, but with different motives this time (no spoilers!).
This game was different in that Anna can now travel to the future as well as the past. It was exciting because it was so utterly confusing you had no idea what was going to happen from one frame to the next.
My only beef with the game is that it had no diary that I could find. With a family as complicated as this one, it helps to have something to keep tabs on who is who and what's going on.
Otherwise, it was a beautiful, interesting game the likes of which we've come to expect from this extraordinary series.
I recommend this game!

Grim Tales: Threads of Destiny
Can you free Jackie's parents from their deadly fates?
Fate is trying to screw with Anna Gray's powers, so she has to keep going back into the past to put things right. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen each time she came back from the past!
It seems most of the people that were disappointed in this game complained it was illogical. Looking for logic in a video game is a complete waste of time for me. I play them mostly to complete the fun puzzles and to soak up the gorgeous graphics, and this game had both. Can't anybody just be happy for little Jackie? I know I was.
If you've played the previous Grim Tales games, you'll know that Anna Gray is constantly having to rescue her relatives from various creepy guys that want to destroy the family. In this game, it's Anna that's being hunted, and she'll have to use her supernatural skills to save herself and set things right.
I thought the puzzles in this game were rather challenging. One of my favorites is where they put several puzzles, all working together, to solve one big puzzle.
I really can't get enough of these games. Each one is better than the next!
