I purchased this game not too long after it came out. I can't tell you how many times I have played this game. For me, it is that good and different every time I play it.
The HO scenes are different every time I play the game. The main scenes are the same and there is a variety, but the Hidden Objects are never in the same place, so you still have to hunt for them.
One of the best aspects of this game is its length. You can play one game for many hours. It is not uncommon for me to stop playing the game for a time, due to its length. I will still stop the game when I am tired or need to do something, after all these years. The best part by stopping, you come right back to where you were. Now, I have learned to play whatever scene I am playing to completion or you will have to do it over again. This makes sense since you need to complete the scene so that the count is correct in the HO scenes or that you get credit for completing a Mini Game or finding an Artifact.
Some have complained that they don't like the sparkles when looking for something. This is a hint and it can easily be eliminated, by stopping of the Hints in the Options. When you have not 'hints' and the sparkles still appear, it is because you have taken a long time, is all. Plus, the sparkles do not last long at all, they are more of a quick flash.
I still love the challenge of the game, trying to get all of the aspects of the game correct and complete. Even now, with as many times as I have played the game, I still find new challenges in getting food or firewood or ore or mud or reeds or gold or gems or coal or all of the items needed to play the game, finding all of the artifacts and completing all of the Mini Games.
The final challenge is getting the Colossus built. I love building it and yet, it saddens me, since this is the last of the game. However, I recover knowing that there will be another day to play the game all over again.
Bottom line, I love this game and love playing it everytime I do!
I recommend this game!

Top notch in my gaming book! I had thought this Beyond may have been a sequel to the first, but it wasn't. I now see why it took so long to produce this game. It really is awesome in it's graphics, HO scenes, Mini Puzzles and Games.
A strange package is received on Thomas's birthday and that package starts the whole adventure! Thomas's mother, Sarah, is one talented lady and would do just about anything to find Thomas, when he is kidnapped and taken away.
This is the Collector's Edition and is well worth the price. The extras which include a Bonus Game, Achievements and Collectables are simply added fun to the overall game.
It has only been recently that I have been trying to concentrate on collecting the Collectables. I do tend to forget when I am engrossed in the story plot, but I am getting better. They are fun to look for, too.
The graphics are awesome, in my book. They fit the story line and can be seen with a good monitor. I happen to have an HDMI connection for my games and that has made a difference in the seeing of the graphics, for me.
The storyline keeps you going. I simply HAD to find out what this kidnapping was all about and how it was resolved! The game was long playing, as well. I do hate it when a game is simply short and sweet. When I am playing a game, I want it to be long, non-boring and challenging. This game did it, for me.
I do recommend this game for Teenagers and Adults. The game itself is involved and not really meant for young children. But for Beginners there is an wonderful Option where you can "customize" your own settings of how quickly a Hint button will recharge, as well as the Skip button charging. Do not hesitate to use the Hint or Skip buttons when you are a Beginner. For me, this was how I learned to play the HOPA (Hidden Objects, Puzzles and Adventure) games.
It took me awhile to learn the ropes of HOPA games. I fell in love with HO games and it simply went from there to now. I look forward to the challenge of the game, these days.
The Bonus Game is quite good in this game. I will not go into detail what it is about, just that it is good.
I am looking forward to other Beyond games. My only hope is that the Developers are planning or working on one, right now.
Trial this game and I think, you will want to purchase it.
I recommend this game!

I purchased this game in February 2016. I really enjoyed playing it, too. I didn't give a review in 2016, since there were so many reviews on record.
I am giving my review now, as for playing the game 2nd time around. It was just as good, as the 1st time! I replayed the game, because I had just purchased the new Beyond game that just recently came out. I wanted to renew my mind as to how the game was played and to see if the new game was a sequel. Well, the new Beyond is not a sequel or the Developers are not showing that it is. But, bottom line - I got to play an awesome game!
The graphics are unbelievable and the story plot is excellent. I did purchase the Collector's Edition and really enjoyed the "added" playing of looking for the Collectables.
The Mini games can be hard, I needed to use the Hint more than I like to. The HOG were challenging but doable. I did have to use the Hint, when I really didn't understand where I should be looking. I would say that I solved the HOG about 98% of the time.
I also liked that I could "customize" my own playing. How long to recharge the Hints or Skips or Allowing Hints to help and so forth. I like when these Options are available in the HOA games.
The Beyond games are truly HOA, Hidden Objects Adventure games. The game was long enough, too. I hate it when any of the games I spend money on, are too quick.
With the Collector's Edition you get to play a Bonus game, as well a many other games like HO or Mini puzzles. Your Achievements and Collectables counts and finds are recorded.
I highly recommend this game to those who love or like this genre of HOA. I don't recommend this for young children. The game is more complicated. Teenagers can play this game, very easily. Especially, if they play these kinds of games all the time.
I am so glad that I played Beyond: Light Advent again. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it again.
I recommend this game!

I really liked this game. It was different and challenging. I like the bubble aspect of this game. The mini games were excellent and most were very challenging. The are 2 modes to play - Casual and Expert. I played the Casual mode.
This game can be played by Beginners, but they will need to play in the Casual mode and use the Hint Button quite a bit. Some don't like using the Hint Button, but I will use it when I am stuck. This game does not have a Strategy Guide.
I recommend this game!

I happen, to have the complete series of Ominous Objects and have loved every game. I am really hoping that, there will be more games, in the series.
The HOG's were exceptionally good, more challenging than regular HOG's. There are ones that interact, by taking an object to another object, to get the required item. Then, there are the "matching" object items, using silhouettes, as your guide to getting the objects.
The storyline is good and the graphics are off the charts, once again. I so enjoy, the Collector's Edition games. I particularly LOVE to play the Bonus Games! Sometimes, the Bonus Chapter will add more to the storyline, to "complete" some phase of it and other times, it will give clues, about the next story or chapter, in a series. This Bonus Game was more, to adding, to the story. I am really hoping that there will be another game or two, in this series.
Try the Trial version, if, you are unsure ... Trial versions are the way to go, when in doubt. However, I think, most will like or love this game and simply buy it.
I recommend this game!

I have only done the Demo, but, I was really into the story line and the game, as I have the first 3 Amaranathine Voyage Collector's Games. Someone commented, that in the Demo, you didn't get to another world ... But I did ... Otherwise, I would not have met the Alchemist. You only just get to the other world, when the Demo stops. If, you don't get that far, of course, you will not see the other world or the Alchemist, in the Demo.
What, I like most about the Amaranathine Voyage games, they are independent games, meaning you don't have to get the first, to play the fourth. But, on wise advice, I would play the first game, so that you truly understand, what the Portals are and where they can take you. I love the Harmonium Device. Another great tool, for your game playing.
As for the Map, I got it, but, didn't attempt to use it. However, at one point, after getting the Map ... I finished a puzzle and small area of the game, showed me where to go next, using the Interactive Map. I saw that and thought, goody, goody ... I love Interactive Maps.
I did feel, that the puzzles seemed easier, than the other 3 games. But, in all honesty, I am use to playing Amaranthine Voyage Games. Therefore, I kind of know what to expect.
One feature that I really, really love ... Is the 4 different methods of playing the game, Causal, Normal, Advanced or Custom! I love playing the Custom game mode. I also, make my Custom mode, to adjust to the way I like to play, short, short Hint times and everything else. Okay, I am not an Advanced player ... To each his or her own. O:)
EIPIX graphics are some of the best, in the gaming world. I have quite a few games, by EIPIX and I know that, the graphics will be clear and beautiful. The Voice overs are done very nicely and the voices are pleasant, to listen to.
I can't wait to buy the Full Version, so that, I can finish my game. I want to get Schroder and put her down!!! Plus, I want to see what happens between my character and the Alchemist. Must admit, he's kind of cute, even though he is only a drawing. Someone's got good taste. LOL
Go ahead ... Try the Demo ... See for yourself, if, you want to play or not ... It is that simple!!!
I recommend this game!

This is the 3rd Surface game, I have played. I have enjoyed all of them, but, especially this one! The story line was "right up my alley" and for those, who don't like scary games, this one really isn't.
The overall game was well done, as usual for Elephant Games. It was fairly easy to navigate, meaning not a lot of going way far back and forth. Yes, there is always some going back and forth, when you are playing a HOA ... It is just the "nature of the beast", as they say.
I only have one very small complaint ... I don't think the Map was as helpful. Oh, there is a Map, but, I seen some better. I know, this game has been out for sometime now and I am probably looking at one the earlier concepts of a Map, than what I have been playing lately. This is why, I call it a small complaint and did not deduct any stars.
The Graphics and Music were just awesome, in my book. I can only say, after playing several games by Elephant Games, all of them have had awesome Graphics and Music!
Another thing, I really like about the Surface series ... It really doesn't matter which one you play first or second or last ... They are all stand alone stories. I have been playing them out of "order", since, the first one was produced.
Please, give this game a good chance, at least, Demo it ... I think, you just might get intrigued enough, to want to solve the mystery.

I purchased my game, on 5-14-2008 and am STILL playing!!! I love playing this game. While, the boards will remain the same at each level, throughout the game ... The dynamics change at each level, every time you start a new game. It is very simple, the color of the balls, are constantly changing. Plus, there are 111 Levels to complete and each level is different, than the previous one. Also, the levels get harder, as you do more levels.
One of my favorite parts of playing, is trying to get the cluster of standing still marbles, where a "door" opens and closes. Plus, at the same time, you are trying to "kill" all of the moving balls!!! Extremely challenging, in my book and that is why, I still play this game, to this day ... For over 6 1/2 years!!!
Trial or Demo it ... This is NOT your typical Marble Popper game.
I recommend this game!

I just finished the Collector's Edition, including the Bonus Game. I LOVED this game!!!
I am like many of those who either loved this game or really liked it ... I honestly, don't understand the complaints, either. I must admit, I have been playing some mighty, dark HOAs, lately and for me, this was a breathe of fresh air!!! Please, I have also, enjoyed playing my darker HOAs, but, a person just needs a break, now and then, right?
The music was awesome and went with the story line. I felt, it just might have been original music, for this game, but, I could be very wrong. It just felt so right, throughout the game.
I also, could see Forgotten Kingdoms development team, creating a sequel to this game. I played the Bonus Game, to completion. In my book, this game warrants another one.
Another thing, that I liked about this game, the Adventure part of the game, moving back and forth, as well as left and right ... Was minimal to average, compared to many others that I have played. The Map was very important, by using it, you could see where your Objectives/Goals were, so that you could continue with the story, more logically.
I played in the Causal Mode. I like to play in that mode, because I can then honestly, recommend the game to Beginners. If, I find that the Causal Mode is so hard, that I have a lot of difficulties, doing much of anything ... I never would recommend for Beginner Players and would honestly, warn the Intermediate Players. To me, that kind of game, would definitely be really, only for the Advance Players!!!
For those, who prefer not to buy or play the Collector's Editions of any game ... I personally think, you are missing out on a lot of good stuff. I love playing the Bonus Game, when they have one. I am highly, disappointed when there isn't a Bonus Game. I also, like going over the Puzzles and HOS, again. Some of the Puzzles in every HOA game, just stump me, completely!!! So, I like to try them, again, to see if, I can complete them ... Unless, they are like Sudoku Puzzle ... I will never get them right! I have tried and tried and tried and tried, until I have learned to stop my frustration, by simply hitting the SKIP!!! LOL
I know that, this game has been out for awhile, but, for those who thought it may not be that good ... Please, give it a try. The story line is great and the game is really fun to play.
I recommend this game!

AWESOME! I can't wait, to complete the game and move on with the Awakening series. I dearly love, the previous series with Queen Sophia. Now, we get to see what happened and why it happened.
I agree, with other commenters ... The graphics have very much improved. They are more inline, with today's games. I know, that the graphics have improved steadily, with each game in the Awakening series, but, this game ... The graphics just seem to shine.
One of my favorite things about the Awakening series, is the investigative game! You are trying to solve the mystery and yet, you have a great story line, along with some great HOs and Mini games! In the Demo version, I played the Casual game.
I prefer, playing in Casual mode. However, I do believe that I could very easily play in the Advanced mode. Knowing this series, so well, I know that as the game advances, the HOs and especially, the Mini games get harder. So, that is why, I mainly stay with the Casual mode.
I am so glad that Boom Zap, has decided to continue with the Awakening story. There are so many players, that simply love this series, I know that I love it. Another great aspect to this game, is that this one is the first, in this series. You don't have to have played all of the other Awakening games, to play this one. I can't wait to see, what is coming down the pipeline, from Boom Zap, regarding the Prequel Awakening series.
Try the demo and I think, you will agree with those of us, who truly love the Awakening series ... They are very good and fun to play.
I recommend this game!
