I was pleasantly surprised by this game. I love that it has a dark atmosphere and is not as cutesy as many of the other resource games. This is the first game in a long time where I even kept the music on.
The graphics are nicely done, more detailed than some other resource games and again with a darker twist. Game mechanics are easy enough to learn without a tutorial but have enough new aspects to make me think (again: without tutorial). There were some things I had to find out gradually and some new tactics I needed to employ. I always like new twists to games.
Another thing I like is that you can turn off hints/tutorial as well as the dialogues. I'm rarely interested in the story and it's annoying when one has to click through dialogue between levels. Here, one click got rid of all the dialogue. Very user-friendly. At the beginning of each level, blinking arrows point out the camp - not crucial, but another nice convenience.
Pace (I chose the medium level) was good as well, I was kept busy but was not overwhelmed. There are three skill levels - yet another thing I like.
So if you want familiar gameplay but are not afraid to learn some new things, this is a nicely done game. The dark atmosphere is a great change to the usual games.
I recommend this game!

I stopped playing in the middle of a level, because I was so bored. This is a typical resource-collecting game and there is nothing that makes it shine. You collect resources, repair things and you construct buildings. You have to send a worker to pick up each resource collected by a building, which is awfully tedious. Everything actually is tedious, most of the time you sit there and watch your workers running places.
There are so many resource collecting games with nice twists and more efficient gameplay. This is not one of them. It is a disappointment for me.
I don't recommend this game.

This game reminds me - in a pleasant way - of Cooking Dash. You have to prepare and serve food. Some dishes just need to be picked up, some need slicing, some frying, some need several steps. This keeps it fresh.
I like the pace, it is nice and quick, but not too quick. I felt very entertained and sufficiently challenged. Each level (I played until level 16 so far) brought something new and the challenge level keeps rising. More dishes, more guests, more complicated steps. Very nice!
It would have been nice if it was possible to turn the explanations off - if one is familiar with this type of games, one has a good idea of what needs to be done. The single preparation steps of each dish are also shown when one clicks on the order bubble, so the explanations are not really needed. However, this is just a minor issue.
Improvements can be bought at the beginning of each level - same principle as with almost every other TM game. The improvements are useful.
So, a very enjoyable game if you enjoy a quicker pace. Will buy as soon as there is a normal version out - collectors editions are (in my opinion) seldom worth the double price.
I recommend this game!

This game is basically a copy of Supermarket Mania resp. Supermarket Management. You fill shelves, you click on unruly customers or thieves, you clean the shop, check out customer, move shopping baskets. It's exactly the same. You can also grow stuff and have to feed the shop cat, which, if I remember correctly, are the only differences.
Interestingly, while those games are ten/nine years old, Amy's Greenmart has worse graphics. The actual shops/backgrounds are okay, but not any way better than those of much older games. However, the figures are simply awful. The movements are wooden, angular and downright irritating. I haven't seen that in games for many, many years and it made gameplay irritating.
The game itself is not that bad, there are many tasks and the pace is demanding, which I enjoy. However, there is not much variety - there are different shops, but basically it's the same stuff over and over again, which gets boring. So this game it at most okay and nothing I would consider recommendable.
I don't recommend this game.

This is the first "Hero of the Kingdom" game that I didn't finish. I loved the first two games and played them quickly. This one has been on my laptop for months now and now I was just too bored to continue.
It is not a bad game and they made some good improvements. You don't have to look for a place to rest now, but can open a campfire tab any time. Similar to previous games you learn several abilities and improving them provides you with more options to cook meals, make potions or weapons. You can also access all trading places via the map. This is all very useful and makes the game much more efficient.
Other things remain the same - you gather stuff, you hunt or fish and you can find boxes. The map is uncovered bit by bit. The exploring is lots of fun. The map doesn't allow you anymore to reach all spots with a click, which is a pity, but as there are some locations that can be reached with a click, it's okay.
Now the tedious bit: most of the game consists of fighting various creatures. The past games had a nice variety of different tasks, which was part of the whole fun. Now, about 80 % is fight, fight, fight. You need a certain fight skill level for the creatures, so if you don't have that yet, you traipse around and look for other creatures to fight to raise your fight level. This can get very, very boring. The more dangerous the creatures, the more weapons, energy and potions are needed, so you spend loooooads of time making potions, cooking meals and the like. This gets more repetitive as the game moves on because you need bigger amounts all the time. Then, your equipment breaks constantly, everything you have can be used about 2 or 3 times, then it breaks. Eventually you end up doing repetitive things all the time.
This used to be such an innovative series, but the developers seemed to have lost interest or creative ideas. Very disappointing.
I don't recommend this game.

I didn't expect too much of this game, in spite of the good reviews, because from the screenshots it looked like your average collect-resources-and-build-stuff-game. In a way, it is, the mechanics are the same as in every other game of this type. However, the developers managed to put a fresh touch to it, which I very much enjoyed.
The graphics are lovely, much better and more detailed than with most other games of this nature. I don't pay much attention to the storyline, but there are some nice exchanges before each level. As usual, you have to remove obstacles, construct buildings and produce items. There is a good variety of tasks and they often require some forward thinking and the game's pace is good (I'm playing on the hardest level, so don't know about the other difficulty levels).
The hour trial went by in no time and I bought the game immediately afterwards. A nice mix of challenge, fun and plenty of nice detail.
I recommend this game!

I wasn't in a hurry to try out this game as it is the eighth in a series and I didn't expect much new and interesting content. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
Rescue Team 8 keeps its entertaining formula, so that the game is easily playable without an introduction and with the hints turned off (I'm always pleased when this option is available). It is still possible to click ahead - another impotant option for me. So, basically, not too much has changed, but they managed to bring in some nice new twists. As in earlier games, animals have to be rescued in some levels, but this time the requirements for this a bit different, which I liked.
Also some levels take place in a cave where one has to power generators to show the next part of the cave system. Another nice new addition.
The pace was good, the one-hour-demo flew by and I thought the challenge was enjoyable. First levels were a bit slower, naturally, but not too slow for first levels. The challenge picks up nicely, it's not too difficult, but there were moments when I had to think a bit about what to do next.
I felt thoroughly entertained and will definitely purchase this game.
I recommend this game!

After the developers so thoroughly ruined the Delicious series, I nearly didn't download the demo of this game. I'm glad I did anyway.
This game follows the Heart's Medicine formula - you deliver stuff and do quite a lot of mini games. It's an entertaining combination that breaks the monotony of only delivering.
The setting is solving a series of murders and I just love this crime setting. It's entertaining and gives room for a whole different set of locations and tasks. The storyline itself get a bit stale after a while, as they concentrate less on the murders and more on the squabbling between the police officer and the lawyer. It is repetitive and we all know where it will end (yawn). Still, the cut scenes can be skipped, so it's no big deal.
There is no option to choose the difficulty level, which is disappointing, but then there is a good pace and there is always an extra task, so even as an experienced TM player I felt sufficiently challenged. Locations change frequently, there is a good variety of mini games and so there is always a bit of a new challenge every few levels. I really did like the wide variety of tasks - they did a great job. The mini games are explained with pictures, which can leave one a bit confused, especially as time is running. However, the mini games can all be figured out, so this is not a real deal breaker for me.
The upgrades are a bit disappointing (judging from the one hour of demo playing - maybe they'll pick up). They could as well just have left them out instead of having so few of them.
I encountered no technical difficulties or bugs.
However, in spite of the few small misgivings, this is a fresh new take on th well-known formula and finally gave me that "just one more level"-feeling back. Great game, great fun!
I recommend this game!

A growing number of reviewers have pointed out that they were not so keen on the Delicious series moving away from a restaurant TM game to a baby/children-TM game. The developers have reacted by now turning it into a totally children-themed TM game. There is nothing left of the old Delicious charm.
Characters have reached a new level of annoying, the children theme is annoying as well, the Mom-vs-Dad storyline reminiscent of a silly unfunny sitcom from the 1970s. The rest is the same old concept (they long ceased bothering with innovations), which the developers have been overusing for quite a while. These games used to be carefully crafted, lovingly prepared and worth waiting for. Now, every few months another unimaginative Delicious game plops off the assembly-line. The series has become a total sellout.
I don't recommend this game.

I was so excited to see that there is a new version of Sally's Salon! Then, I saw that it was not Sally's Salon, but yet another of the countless Delicious spawns. Sally's Salon was a very good game - are the developers not able anymore to make a TM game that does *not* look and play like the Delicious series? I understand that it's a very popular series and I assume it's cheaper, faster and more convenient to just use the same framework over and over again, instead of coming up with an actual new idea, but as a customer I feel very annoyed with this.
So, the gameplay is basically the same as in the other many many many Delicious games, just with different items. Instead of burgers or salads, you build gift baskets from components, instead of serving food, you provide hairstyling services, but it's done in the same way, even the annoying coffee machine is back. The original Sally's Salon had quite a lot of minigames - choosing the new hair colour or cut, cutting or painting nails right, and so on. This new version incorporates very few of them and they are much simpler than they used to be in the original.
Another challenge of the original game was that many customers came in. You had to decide how to serve them to get in as many as possible before the shop closed and also serve them all on time - there were always more guests than service stations and all the guests required several service stations, so there was a bit of strategy involved. It was the best part of the game to juggle this. There were also different kinds of customers with different preferences - again adding to the challenge in a unique way. This is all gone now. Again, it's the usual Delicious formula - you hardly ever have more guests than available chairs; they look differently, but that's about it when it comes to customer variery. Another unique feature sacrificed to the "let's all games use the Delicious gameplay"-strategy of the developer.
The music is simply awful, I turned that off quickly (again something the original Sally's Salon did so much better). The story is not very exciting and partly predictable. The visuals are nice enough and they did come up with good different looks for customers. (But what happened to Emily's eyes? She's looking horrible). The different treatments are also good in variety and of course Francois is a big plus - I missed him in the Emily series when it started to be all about Paige.
Another positive thing is that the challenge level is quite good (though, for reasons detailed above, far below the original Sally's Salon). One is kept busy and there are three skill levels again. A big improvement to the dismal last Emily game.
Still, in spite of the small additions, this game has two major faults for me:
1. It's not a new edition of Sally's Salon, as it claims to be, as the original game's unique feature are mostly gone
2. It's yet another Delicious game with the same gameplay as all the other Delicious games. Buying it would be like paying again for a game I already own several times.
I hope there will be a TM game soon that does not follow the by now stale Delicious formula.
I don't recommend this game.
