The stories change but the games don't. I really like the graphics. Lots of dialogue, of course, to follow the adventure. The stories are interesting but little else is. Gameplay is boring with few features, no options, not-so-fun obstacles, little challenge.
Only two play modes. Relaxed is too easy, timed stresses me out. I have trouble earning stars even though I successfully complete the levels. Morphing tiles are annoying, tiles locked within a gear(?) are easily overcome, don't see the point of it. None of the obstacles create much difficulty at all, just a momentary roadblock. The boards are big and the icons are unappealing, but I guess they work with the theme of the story. Earning upgrades is a slow process.
This dev has produced some entertaining games, I've enjoyed quite a few. This one, however, is not so great in my opinion and without Limited Moves, even if I liked it I would not purchase.
Good storyline but where is it? The demo didn't offer much. Loved the graphics as I usually do in Domini games. The lone character in the demo looked and sounded great, more natural than usual but Ms. Watson mostly leaned up against a wall in the theater. Hopefully others will be rendered well, too. Zero character activity in the demo.
Something I never like is finding ridiculous things in weird places, all needed in my tasks. Lots of that here. Also the lock and chain drops down after several unsuccessful clicks. I hate that. You will not find items easily. The first HOPS was a good example due to the theater being very dark, items very small and hard to recognize. This is the first time the cursor hand didn't bug me. Without it I never would've found most of the items.
The scenes were all dark and made moving through the demo a drag. I think the game will be slow and tedious making it much longer than necessary. I found it difficult to realize where to use inventory items. Wasn't clear to me because they just didn't make sense, so that slowed me down. It was annoying. I guess I'm thinking too logically. Outside the theater was more of the same. I forced myself to continue, quitting with 10 minutes remaining.
The game felt uncomfortable which is an odd feeling, not fun. Everything seemed unclear as to the crime, suspects, connections between characters. Not much story to follow in the demo to indicate any kind of mystery I would want to spend time investigating. Maybe the game picks up later with a good adventure ahead.
I felt the whole time I was in a dead zone, not inspired to continue. Another no-buy for me but others may find it fun and worthwhile. Another reviewer mentioned 12 hours long. Wow! That's just too much for me but good news for many other gamers. Also mentioned was more than usual challenge. I love challenge but not the kind presented here with dark scenes, small items and tedium. I hope you find a good time with this game, it just didn't have the right stuff for me.
The series has changed along the way but the stories are always reliable for a good adventure through the supernatural. Anna, carrying Daddy's head around is too weird for me, even though it's just a game. However, the games are usually very good so I have to overlook that.
Today's release is a good length for me, the CE is a bit short on the extras, the collectibles are sparse and easy to find. I may wait for the SE edition. I usually buy the CE for the guide and the BC anyway.
I really like that we have equal amounts of HOPs and puzzles. Not being a puzzle person, this is a good thing. I won't have to do a lot of skipping. I didn't find the HOPs very creative, they were pretty easy but I enjoyed the one's in the demo . The puzzles also were easy, I liked them, fun and colorful. Some were new to me, some were familiar with a new twist to them.
The graphics were just okay, the locations/scenes mostly dark. Characters moved in an odd way, their looks and voices have changed in quality over the years. Not so good now. Surprisingly, I miss Richard Gray along with everyone else. Without the humor he provided it does make a difference to overall enjoyment of the adventure.
I hope Elephant Games keeps the series going strong. Anna Gray and her supernatural adventures are interesting and fun to follow but not so weird with Daddy. I think it was a mistake to remove him!
Again the demo was full of the same negatives as all the previous Paint By Numbers. I hate having to finish the first level to access the rest of the game. With Number 18 and knowing we all don't like this feature, I don't see why it still exists.
My biggest dislike is the color palette. The poor selection of images become even more unappealing after the colors are applied. I think the colors are ugly and the combinations used just don't work. Flowers, birds, landscapes, seascapes, birds, animals all turn drab with all the "off" shades, especially of orange, yellow, green, grey, blue. Too much of it, too not right for any subject matter. Color is so important with all styles of art, without it nothing else matters!
Regarding subject matter, there's an okay variety, a handful of images that stood out UNTIL they were painted. Most of the pics lack a background which is another downer for me. A single image in the middle of the page is mostly what you get.
You might love Paint By Numbers if you aren't hung up on this stuff like I am. When I paint it's all about the color and things that are beautiful and bright, a finished piece that is joyful to look at. I don't find that here!
Finding a mosaics game always cheers me up. It isn't fancy, no razzle-dazzle features but I like it and own the other Adventure Mosaics games. There's always a little back story and 150 levels is a good length. I like the cartoon style graphics that are nicely done, sharp and colorful, the characters are cute and supply you with bits of the story as you play.
This one gets away from the farm and country camping trips for a change. There's a nice selection of tile sets and the colors seem to be better and brighter this time. A building project with 8 tasks comes with each chapter and is put together in bits and pieces. Completing it is too simple but still fun to see the final result come together.
The puzzles range from too easy to kind of difficult. None are especially challenging, just lots of fun for me. The images are cute and easily recognizable. The two hints recharge quickly, 4 mistakes are allowed for each puzzle.
I do wish restart didn't require returning to the menu. Also the numbers bordering the grid need to be brighter. I think they should all be white, not color coordinated to the tiles. As is they get lost in the background colors and it is so easy to make mistakes.
Otherwise I enjoy Adventure Mosaics as a cute, fun way to relax. Sometimes I just get burned out on the fantasy, psycho killers and hidden object games. This is a nice break from all that,
I usually play in Hard Mode but that was out of the question with a 3 minute timer and 45 seconds for hint recharge. It says player already exists so don't waste time trying to enter a name, yours is "Player" here, a minor annoyance.
The levels weren't locked so skipping around will appeal to everyone. The graphics weren't very sharp but colors, though not abundant, were pretty. You'll find sealife AND animals together in the underwater scenes which I felt was odd. The game is not so easy simply because the scenes were dark and the creatures just "faded" into the background. Didn't like the game very much, due to that. Sharper graphics would have helped.
I found only one camera, no paw prints so I decided to end the demo early in the first level. I was too frustrated, trying to enjoy a game shouldn't be so difficult. Not fun engaging the hint button so often. Others may find the game entertaining, especially if patience is your virtue. It isn't necessarily a bad game, it just wasn't enjoyable enough for me. I ended up with a middle-of-the-road rating.
Easy, Medium, Hard Modes, the difference being the hint and recharge times. Tutorial is supplied by Beth and is very simple. As the game progresses she puts more demands on Ana who has her work cut out for her. The dialogue can be thankfully skipped. The print is big and bold for easy reading.
Graphics are big, nice colors, characters are nicely done, just slightly animated, cartoon styled. Scenes can be moved left to right. Even with such large scenery the zoom feature will sometimes be used but I found hints unnecessary. Items were huge and hard to miss. Gameplay consists of cleaning up the disarray, discarding trash, putting objects in their proper places. All with a simple click! Earn stars for completing scenes, necessary for progressing through the game.
Beth follows you with instructions but you can dismiss her by clicking the icon above the hint button. Click home to find Ana's task list for outdoor chores. These tasks are more plentiful than the indoor ones but still way too simple. For me the game was boring with nothing to do but clean and clean some more. However, I did complete the demo.
There's really nothing bad about this game IF challenge is not your thing and you love cleaning in a snap. The real deal should be so easy! I really liked the artwork, outdoors was more interesting. Definitely more suited for kids. Great to play with a parent. In my opinion a good little learning tool.
This dev is oblivious! Either they are not concerned or they lack knowledge of the low reviews of their solitaire games. They just keep on with the same unpopular format and changing the title for a story that doesn't really exist.
The Gold Cards are a game killer. The features aren't worth mentioning. The ratings have plummeted to the bottom of the barrel. It is a shame that our reviews are ignored. How difficult can it be to make a few changes and create a nice solitaire game? It makes no sense to persist with something that reaps such low reviews. Maybe the laziness is just too powerful to overcome!
I know others will always enjoy the simple gameplay and may not care about strategy and challenge. But without them it means boredom and victory not due to my own skills but due to the Gold Cards controlling the game! Not fun!!
but I did not like this game. The demo was just a struggle to complete the puzzles and HOPs. Very strong challenge. The graphics were quite nice but the colors were mostly dark. The characters were few and didn't play much of a part in the game, the girl's voice was a bit irritating. She was there telling her story, following you through the games and cheering you on.
It was near impossible to find items in the HOPs because they were very dark and many objects were unrecognizable. My finger was permanently affixed to the hint button and the recharge was slow. Not the way I like to play at all! It made me feel pretty inept. The puzzles were very creative, not run of the mill, definitely not boring. I liked that but found them quite frustrating, partly due to length of time to solve and some could have had better instructions. I expected them to be more fun because they were so different but that just wasn't the case, for me.
So by the end of the demo I was questioning my abilities or maybe I just became stupid? There shouldn't be a lot of frustration with a game like this. Anyway others may really enjoy it, but for me it was not a good time.
I Liked the personality and crude design of the robot. There were very many gadgets and gizmos in the demo that added extra interest. The multi-part puzzles were lots of fun, a good challenge, I enjoyed the stained glass puzzle a lot. The interactive HOPs were well designed but easy. The collectibles weren't easily spotted so I was thankful for the helpful sidebar that I always greatly appreciate.
The characters were very nicely rendered and the voices were excellent. Graphics were nice, not outstanding and the toned-down colors were very appropriate for that time period. Some of the scenes were somewhat dark but you need to consider the lighting available in those days.
I've never been a big fan of MCF games, though I own a few of the early really great ones. This one caught my eye because it returned to to when Dalimar was at his ugliest best. I was curious to see where it all began. The demo, this time, didn't trap me in just one location and I got to see more of the surroundings and characters.
I don't know how impressive the story will be overall but I really enjoyed the demo and will take a chance that it will be a good adventure. Will definitely pick it up with a good sale.
