To put it simply, I totally agree with Pennmom's review. I had expected this new game to free of the issues that plagued the previous ones. There were certainly enough complaints to make the dev aware of the problems. Frankly, it seems they don't even read the reviews. The demo, once again, was frustrating even though I completed it hoping for the best.
I do wish some editing was involved here. In each game the lack of proof-reading is evident. The misspelling of common words and incorrect descriptions of objects should not have happened. And the numerous glitches show there is no Quality Control in place. The game is in need of a big overhaul!
This game doesn't even come close to qualifying as a CE. Nothing justifies the extra cost. The dev really, IMO, is looking to get the big $$ without the big effort. It happens with other developers, too. They will always succeed if we don't submit reviews voicing our opinions and complaints. They are just as important as the positive reviews!
I rated 3 stars because what was glitch-free was fun and the colorful graphics weren't too bad. Many of the objects were very small and some were incorrectly labeled, it created an extra challenge but not an enjoyable one. If the problems were fixed and this was an SE, I would buy it. Try the demo, maybe it will give you an entirely different opinion. But I would suggest to proceed with caution, especially considering the CE price.

why I won't purchase this game...it is just like the previous three, the Gold Cards which end the game when all are removed, the lack of fun features, and the crazy amount of points needed to make a purchase from the shop. Why can't someone create a decent, entertaining solitaire? When changes are needed and continually requested, why can't the dev make an effort to do SOMETHING to make it better? It's just another lazy developer creating another boring game. It's just so disappointing, so frequently. I completed the demo, not finding one iota of anything that I think justifies the price or even a coupon. It's a basic high/low solitaire game with a little story included, Gold Cards to collect, 2 play modes, a variety of card backs, so-so graphics and music, and a very expensive shop.
If you've not played any of the Detective Solitaires, this "new" one may appeal to you. There is no need to buy it if you own even one of the others, nothing has changed. However, give the demo a whirl, it might be just what you are looking for in a solitaire game. I hope you are not disappointed.

This game apparently came out over a year ago according to the first 2 reviews. I was eager to try Rainbow Pixel but for me it was disappointing. Had I known in the very beginning that 8Floor is the dev, I wouldn't even have tried the demo. I did complete the demo but it wasn't much fun. The pics cannot be viewed ahead of time, color them in order. Also without a preview, how do I know whether or not I want to purchase?
There are 5 subject categories but the images are all locked. Each level is revealed only after the preceding one has been completed. Coloring the large one-color blocks was tedious without a feature to quickly fill in the area. Continually dragging the cursor back and forth was, well, just a big drag!!! Too time consuming. The images were very basic and childish and the pixels didn't blend well in the finished pieces, so they were blurry which happens in other coloring games, too. The undo feature was unnecessary since you can go back to the wrong-colored cell and correct it with the intended color.
There were a few background colors available, much better than just the black or drab grey. The timer was not meant to be intimidating, just fun to see if you matched or exceeded the suggested time. The levels can be replayed if you want to better your time. The numbers being filled in stood out from all the rest, the highlighting made it easier to see what I was working on. The colors don't need to be used in order. The zoom feature, as always, is very helpful. The cursor is tiny and moves smoothly.
Other than a couple of helpful features, I found nothing appealing about this game. Even though it's a no-buy for me, do try the demo and see if this game has what it takes to add some fun to your coloring entertainment. I look for interesting subjects, detailed colorful backgrounds, some challenge, a few simpler images mixed in. I didn't find that here. But what displeases me, may make you a very happy camper. I hope you find it to be a fun experience!

They just might be our ticket out of the dreaded cookie-cutter factory. However, based on this particular game I kind of doubt that future games will be uber entertaining. I hope I'm proven wrong. Telltale Games brought some different gameplay to the table and it was refreshing to a point.
Pride and Prejudice was different to be sure and the tasks were certainly more challenging, your thinking cap became an important asset. But that wasn't enough to make it really stand out. I don't think they did very well with the storyline, basing it VERY loosely on Pride and Prejudice just didn't work. The story was silly, sometimes confusing, made little sense. Some logic would have been a big plus.
The graphics were decent with dark colors and backgrounds that presented a sort of creepy atmosphere. Appropriate for the vampire theme! I love vampire stories but this one missed the mark for me. The characters' attire was somewhat accurate for the time period, but the characters from the book were portrayed very poorly. The acting was not good nor was the sound quality.
Since this basically is not a hand-held game it is appealing as far as challenge is concerned and the originality is apparent, so those are two good points. Plus there are an abundance of HO scenes which is not the norm. That worked for me better than too many puzzles. But none of the HOPs or puzzles can be replayed. Although the demo was far too short I was hoping that the best was yet to come. I did buy the CE because sometimes I'm too eager when something new comes along. Ended up regretting my purchase. Just an underwhelming experience, lacking the kind of entertainment I was looking for. It was basically a vampire love story which I've seen plenty of before and had next to nothing to do with Pride and Prejudice.
I'm all for supporting this new dev. I hope the next game doesn't involve tweaking a classic story, more attention is given to proper word pronunciation and there is a more rigorous quality control check before it is released.

After such a long time we have a new Chronicles of Emerland. It is not as spectacular as the first, but with the rash of poor solitaire games we've been getting, it is definitely a welcomed treat. I enjoyed the demo to the end, the graphics were clear and very colorful, and the game ran smoothly.
No HO scenes this time which will be sorely missed. I think they should have been included, especially since this a CE. There's an assortment of character power-ups that provide a helping hand, but they are not available in the very beginning. They must recharge after each use, which doesn't take long. I didn't like the card backs, too few and not very pretty. The large card fonts were helpful to my aging eyes. There was no artistic flair to their design but guess that doesn't matter much, really. I just like pretty things, even in solitaire games.
The game was challenging, I think mostly due to the shortage of deck cards but I also found making large combos to be pretty tough. I had trouble earning 3 stars, but the levels can be replayed. Still, that becomes tedious if it takes more than a few attempts to reach my goal and I will lose interest. So the challenge is definitely present, which I certainly prefer over the too-easy games we see so often.
It's a shame that more features and extra content aren't included in this new version of Chronicles of Emerland. It is just not worth the CE price. I have plenty of great oldies to entertain me until the SE version is available. In spite of this being a watered down version of the original, I think the SE will be good enough to add to my solitaire collection.
I recommend this game!

I wish they wouldn't base these games on classic stories from bygone years. They are so loosely based on them, doing a great injustice to the authors, IMO. I usually end up disappointed. I love the Sleepy Hollow legend, but this is a far stretch from the 18th century version.
The demo was enjoyable and gave a good sample of what's to come in the full game. The HOPs were varied, though not many in the trial time. They were fun, not terribly challenging, and there was an alternative Match 3 which is popular with many players. I tried one, not bad but I always prefer the HOPs. I do, however, love more challenge and in most games they are too easy. I liked the puzzles and made use of the Easy option on some, rather than skipping. After you set your preference in the menu, you can still switch from Easy to Hard on them. So that made it more enjoyable for me.
Playing 2 characters always appeals to me. Kane and Katrin team up to solve a supernatural mystery frightening the townsfolk of Sleepy Hollow. It may turn out to be a good whodunit, depending on how much the classic story has been tweaked. I like gathering clues and evidence that uncover the answers and the culprits. I loved the beautiful graphics, they were dark and brooding, richly colored depicting the 18th century surroundings quite nicely. However, I wish Domini's favorite purple and neon green would have been left out, being too stark for that time period. The characters' portrayals were done quite well including the voice-overs. Their attire was mostly correct for that time period.
The scenes were interesting as I looked for the items needed for the tasks. I wasn't feeling bogged down, boredom didn't creep in, the gameplay wasn't particularly challenging. Everything moved along at a good pace so it was a fun time. I was well entertained so decided this game would be a good purchase. Got my fingers crossed!
The collectibles weren't hard to find and we have the usual mainstay of 70 "somethings" to collect. This time they are stones to acquire decorations for the Mayor's Room. The collectibles have become boring. 15 of this, 15 of that, 70 whatever, always the same. So I don't regard the CE's as special as I used to, but I always appreciate the long games, the supernatural themes, and the quality that many devs can't match. Domini is one of my 2 favorites!
This game, based on the demo, seems to be equipped with these qualities so I'm heading for the Buy Button, counting on it to be the right choice for my next HOP adventure. Sleepy Hollow will likely appeal to most age groups regardless of playing skills. There are 4 play levels that make the game fun for beginners, seasoned players and in-between.
I recommend this game!

You will need them all to find all the teeny, tiny ridiculously small, almost invisible segments to paint. Zooming in was useless, even with the Hint Feature I couldn't see the speck it pointed to and just had to keep passing the cursor over the area, hoping it would take the color. The pinpoint size of many segments prevented the cursor from hitting it without multiple clicks. Turned into just a hit or miss situation. Working swiftly to color the images, my efforts were squashed when the demo ended on the fifth one. The gazillion specks to color ate up the time. Both stupidity and determination kept me from ending the demo myself.
I was able to sweep the cursor over areas of teeny same-color sections, but that didn't bring much relief. The colors didn't fill in parts with no number designation, making it easier to move around and the colors were bold, brightening the images like a spotlight. However, the subject matter was unappealing and the blank background made it worse. No background means no depth or detail to the piece. Therefore, not interesting. Just a stand-alone picture simply doesn't work, at least for me. There was a small variety of background colors. I was able to choose my colors rather than painting in number-sequence. So jumping to other areas was a positive option. The Hint Feature was quick, no waiting to reuse. The slide-bar is basically same as Zoom. Don't want to be without those!!! You can move the image around.
Overall, for me, this game was a big fat dud. Absolutely not fun. And, yes, it seems I moan and groan about these poor quality games far too often rather than just move on forget about it. But if we don't complain about it, don't voice our honest opinions, don't suggest changes in our reviews, we have to blame ourselves along with the devs for our dissatisfaction. We should not have to settle for poor quality. Our reviews are important! But then some devs just don't give a hoot and our opinions aren't acknowledged by those who care more about $$ and little about the consumer. I simply won't support them.
Anyway, there are many quality art games out there and I don't understand why BF keeps adding to the pile of inferior ones. But, of course, try the demo. You may find this to be the perfect game if you enjoy this style of paint by number. I just can't recommend it based on what I experienced in the demo.
I don't recommend this game.

Here is your armchair opportunity to see some of Africa via mosaics and learn a little trivia provided with the images. This is a nice nanogram game, as were the 2 previous editions. The demo ended much too soon and I rushed to buy, to continue my trek. I was so ready for a new mosaic game!
The minimal instructions are easy to understand. The custom cursor moves smoothly. The music isn't great so turned it off, but I do like the sound fx in the Wilderness Mosaic games. The color palette can have up to 6 shades and they are really pretty. I love the muted ones for the softness they add to the images and the brights aren't overly vivid. The tile finishes are nice too, my favorites are the rough and pearl.
We get 5 "free" mistakes per puzzle, collect up to 5 stars. The 2 power-ups are very helpful. The butterflies are earned as you progress with the image, so you can acquire a comforting little stash of them, each one reveals a single cell. The whale reveals a 3x3 area and recharges after each use. The hint feature also has to recharge after use. There is a mix of challenge to the puzzles so beginners and seasoned players can enjoy the game. I like that there is little or no guessing involved which makes it more fun.
The images aren't always easy to recognize, but after the title appears they instantly become clear to me. You can enjoy your finished piece without it being instantly whisked away, just click when you are through viewing it. I like the new slider puzzles but enjoy the memory games more. With 142 levels, 9 chapters and bonus chapter there's plenty of fun here.
When the crossed off cells disappear from the grid it's much easier to see what remains to be filled in. Also the numbers around the grid are easy to read. What I don't care for are the dots within the cells, they mess with my eyes sometimes.
Being in short supply of quality mosaic games, Wilderness Mosaic 3 was a welcomed sight this morning. A good start to an otherwise dreary day of rain and more rain.
I recommend this game!

Odd that BF doesn't find demons, soul-stealers, kidnappers and serial killers inappropriate, but the synopsis for this game warns us of the depictions of weapons shown as cartoonish little pictures! Weapons are nothing new to crime games and this game doesn't require an "alert", IMO.
Well, I disliked the first Crime Stories and CS2 was also unimpressive. The graphics were sharp but the colors were too dark, the characters were unanimated but voices were okay. There was a lot of dialogue in telling the story. No options which I guess wouldn't have mattered anyway.
I found this game to be tedious and boring and have never really been a fan of the "Stage Complete" match 3 games. Dropping the badges to the bottom of the board seemed like a chore to complete the chapters. Each one requires the purchase of 4 World Upgrades before advancing to the next chapter. There are a lot of tools that can be acquired with 2 types of elements, in my opinion the costs are a little steep. The elements are always visible on-screen.
The board tiles are dark and ugly, the obstacle crates weren't fun. I don't recall the obstacles in CS1 but I do remember lots of spiders in earlier "Stage Complete" games. Maybe this game was spared of those. The clearing of tiles wasn't quick, kind of "floaty", slo-mo. I found no entertainment to speak of in the demo and wasn't patient enough to see it through, stopping after 35 min. Some devs just don't get it!!
Maybe Crime Stoppers 2 will appeal to many Match 3 lovers, but for me it was a boring experience. I hope you come away with a more positive opinion after the demo, than I did.
I don't recommend this game.

Match 3, HOs, challenge, strategy, adventure, quests, battle, story, collectibles. All here in this awesome Match 3 game! The original arrived 10 years ago, it was fabulous at that time and the devs have made this new version even more entertaining. Rarely is a sequel so satisfying. They are usually a big flop clearly thrown together with no effort or imagination. I wasn't bored a minute with this one, it was really fun and I think it will be very enjoyable for most of you. I was happy playing in Relaxed Mode since rushing sometimes stresses me, but the challenge was still intact.
The adventure was fun as I searched for the thief who stole a mysterious relic from the abbey. It must be retrieved before it is given over to the sinister underworld which made this a worthwhile mission and a good incentive to succeed. I love when a good little story is included.
I bought the CE with 40 extra levels, being so eager to play. We've been without a great Match 3 game for far too long. But I'm sure I would have been just as pleased with the SE. Try the demo, especially if you've not played the first Cave Quest. Sample that one, too, and you just might agree that we have a winner here!
I recommend this game!
