into another delightful Christmas Wonderland game. This one was immediately added to my special stash of Wonderland fun. I own all of them and each one is a joy. Number 9 has all the usual holiday "eye candy" and in abundance! Springfield really gets into the holiday spirit!
The game, as the others, is just like Vacation Adventures: Park Ranger and Cruise Director, But the puzzles and games were a little more time consuming this time and more fun, IMO. The HOs were very small because the scenes were so full of Christmas decorations, shoppers, etc. I found them to be quite challenging and loved it !
Mom and dad with their 2 children had winning tickets for a very special fun-packed event, hosted by the Springfield Shopping Mall. The kids were especially excited about the trip on the Express Train to visit Santa's workshop and get the Grand Tour.
All of the scenes are extremely sharp, colors are bright and beautiful. Each one is crammed full of Christmas decorations, shoppers, children, presents, people enjoying the beautiful snowy surroundings. Festive sights everywhere to put you in the mood! And of course, the Mall was a madhouse crowded with the little hidden objects and lots of people,
I love the real people and background sounds in these games, The music was very cheerful with young singing voices in parts. So much to see and do! It ALMOST put me in the mood for Christmas shopping at 3 a.m. I was so pleased to see a bible in several of the scenes and would like to thank the devs for adding that special touch. Each scene had Golden Reindeer very well hidden which went to the "stable" when found. The lost and found items were shown in silhouette, inside a snow globe. When all were found, Santa in his sleigh appeared, And results of your findings were shown on your scoreboard,
Christmas Wonderland 9 is absolutely a winner for all ages. It is beautiful to look at and loads of fun. I think even the Christmas Grinch might let out a little ho, ho, ho!
I've enjoyed the others in this series and I think this Match 3 will be fun as well. The demo was fun, the gameboard was colorful and the tiles were easy to see. However, the graphics weren't ideal. But really, it made no difference to the quality of the game, IMO. From my time in the demo, I was pleased to see a good amount of bonus features and extras available. I love earning achievements, and restoring and building has always been a favorite of mine.
I like Match 3 games, keeping enough on hand, as a break once in a while from my most favorite genre, the HOPA. But picking out a quality Match 3 is sometimes challenging because I don't play them regularly. Pennmom's excellent, detailed reviews are quite helpful to me so I use the info to help me decide yay or nay when I am on that familiar fence. I love reading everyone's reviews and opinions. It is always amazing that one person's 5 star is another person's 1 star.
I will purchase this Match 3 with my soon-to-expire coupon. Very good timing, indeed! Thanks Big Fish.
This is a game about mirrors that need to stay out of people's business! There are games about mirrors filled with evil, but this one is different, presenting an interesting, unusual storyline.
It begins with Nathaniel, a supernatural detective, being contacted by Brigette, in France, who is frightened and needs help. When he arrives he meets her sister, Irene, who claims she hasn't heard from Brigette in days. she can't enter her house because her key broke in the lock (of course!).
Once inside, they find Brigette locked in the bathroom, dead! Thus begins our challenge of finding out who or what is responsible and why. We discover that mirrors are taunting people with regrets and mistakes from their past and the ultimate result, so far, is death, caused by the evil entity inside the mirror. I think this is a quite unusual storyline and Nathaniel has a big job to tackle.
The demo was loaded with puzzles/games and HOPs. They were all so creative and unique. Two in particular were very imaginative. The HOPs were interactive and several were very different. Plus there was an alternate Match 3 available. There were two collectible jewelry pieces in each scene, unless I overlooked something else. There is a supernatural tattoo that is a helper in the game, it glows when something weird is about to happen and it is also on Nathaniel's arm. I do not like gimmicks and gadgets, but this one was not irritating. I loved everything, they were all excellent. Another good thing is the custom mode which lets us set our hint and skip recharge time. In many games it is pre-determined for us, which I don't like.
The graphics were outstanding to my eye, very vivid and rich natural colors making them even more beautiful. The scenes had lots of interesting items and gave Nathaniel many tasks and clues to help solve the mystery at hand. The characters were done very well, movements were pretty natural and the voice-overs were great. The French accents didn't sound silly to me. But maybe a little too Frenchy with the sister.
Well, that's about it for me. Other reviewer friends will provide much more info than I. They are very informative and helpful AND save my poor arthritic fingers from all that typing (lol). I love reading everyone's reviews!
I really enjoy the Unseen Fears games and this one is on my waiting list for the next good sale, 5 stars here!
I was really nervous starting out, that I would discover I am a big dummy with this kind of puzzle. My curiosity about these puzzles finally took control and I gave it a try.
The graphics were extremely bright and colorful, really beautiful. There was a little storyline along with mini games and bonus levels. However, I did not see any of those in the demo. There are Easy, Medium and Hard modes, earning bronze, silver or gold for your efforts. Hints 30 sec, lives 5, shovels 9, bombs 3,,,and 6 colors available. I played Easy Mode, did not use any of these "helpers".
Instructions were sparse - left click to mark colored dot, right click to mark empty dot. I didn't do so badly in the 4 puzzles I played, lost a few lives in each. Took surprisingly short time to catch on, The tiles were vividly colored and I found little confusion in the learning process.
The demo was actually lots of fun and by the time it finished, I decided to purchase. So if you have never tried this kind of game, give it a try. The easy mode was a good thing and got me off that fence I was sitting on. Maybe you will find some new fun like I did.
But nothing ever changes to help me out. I was once again disappointed. The first location was "Flowering Garden". No idea why that name was chosen. The colors in every puzzle were very bland, saw no hint of beauty anywhere. The lines remained around the pieces after puzzle completed.
On a positive note, there is a relaxed mode and pleasant music. But still, the usual less than delightful fare is again present from this dev! I found no resemblance to the beauty and fun once offered many moons ago. Maybe I should have played longer, but really had no desire after finishing the "Flowering Garden." Sad, very sad. Sorry! But maybe someone else will enjoy this newest 8-Floor offering much more than I.
Kidnapping usually doesn't grab my attention, but after reading the CE reviews I decided to try the demo. Turns out it involves much more than kidnapping. It was, IMO, an excellent storyline and it held my interest throughout the entire demo.
I thought the animation and graphics were very good and unlike several other reviewers, I didn't think they looked old school. The music was actually rather nice, especially for this type of story. The puzzles and HOPs didn't provide much challenge, but I did really enjoy them. Also, I loved following the clues to find the loony-tune responsible for these crimes.
This is another gimmick game, Gimmicks just irritate me to pieces. Why do we need them anyway? They certainly don't enhance the game-play, at least not for me. But I managed to continue the fun. Probably because I enjoy crime mystery stories so much.
The CE reviews mentioned not many extras so I went for the SE and $4,50 in today's sale is an okay deal for me. I think i will not regret purchasing.
From my time in the demo, I think this will be a very busy game. I love fantasy-based games because of all the unusual things to see, especially one's that include animals, plants, forest. This story is about Florena, the evil wraith who wants to destroy all humanity. Talk about a bad attitude!!
Adam and his family have been working against her evil deeds and he managed to turn her to stone with 3 magic locks, but sadly, after she killed his wife. Now 3 yrs later he and his 2 daughters each have one of the 3 keys that will keep Florena imprisoned forever. That is, until a certain meanie betrays the family and sets Florena free.
I like the storyline and all the different oddities it provides. The graphics and colors are exceptional, each scene is very sharp and beautiful, lots to see. There is a very good map and task book, always love that, However, I did not care for the Beastiary Book which changed the forest monsters back to their normal appearance. I just do not like gadgets, I think they are unnecessary and waste time. In this case, there was a mini-game to be played each time, to normalize the beast . It could be played in easy or hard mode, but I skipped them, so I didn't lose precious story time.
The HOPs were nice and clear, but lacked creativity, which was disappointing, I was unhappy with the kind that has you find the item that matches a word in a sentence. But I am a die-hard HOP fan, so I just enjoyed what I could. There was an alternate Match 3 but I never play those in an HOPA game. There were various game settings which is great no matter what your skill level.
There are lots of great collectibles here and many replayable games & HOPs, plus 6 chapters and the bonus chapter.
I didn't eliminate any stars for the few things I didn't care for because I don't believe they effect the actual quality of the story and fun. It just wouldn't be fair, in my opinion. The things I didn't like may make other players very happy and I don't want to sway their decisions in a negative way. So this game is getting 5 stars from me. Looking forward to adding it to my fantasy collection.
In this story an undercover detective is sent to a desolate island to find out who is murdering the handymen hired by the castle master. Finding the culprit kept our detective busy using his skillful techniques to solve the mystery, I thought this was an excellent game from start to finish. The storyline was very good and held my interest all the way to it's appropriate ending which was not abrupt and actually made sense, unlike so many dumb endings I have seen.
There were few characters and no speaking except for an occasional grunt from whoever the detective had to visit. The written dialogue was not overwhelming and should be read for extra bits of guidance with your tasks. There is a helpful journal and the hint system worked well in a different sort of way, I really enjoyed the games which were medium to difficult and I say difficult because some became tedious. There are game instructions and all can be skipped. The HOPs were a good challenge, just what I like.
The graphics were clear, good color. The scenery was pretty basic and navigation was easy. There was no map, not long distances to cover. The characters were done well artistically, considering the simplistic overall style of the game. I liked the looks of everything, each scene was interesting and had a dismal feel.
This game is not what I expected but I was surprised at how fun and engrossing it was for not having all the frills of the newer games that are available today.
This is a good game to bring out for future Halloweens, it is not intense like another recent holiday game. It provides some scary fun for a more laid back playtime. This one is more suitable for younger players and family participation. It is about a Halloween party prepared by twin sisters, Regina and Marianne.
They did a great job decorating the big house inside and out with lots of everything to put you in the mood for the festivities. The party is going nicely until some strange things start happening and dead guests are discovered here and there. What in the world is going on?? We do find out that we have an uninvited guest amongst us. Maybe HE'S the party spoiler! A handsome/scary looking guy who just doesn't have good social manners. Of course he blends in very easily with the others, since it is a costume party.
The graphics are very colorful and clear, the scenes are all nicely detailed. I had fun picking out my own beautiful costume from a nice selection. The HOPs and games were very enjoyable and some were unique to me. I thought the characters were done quite well. I don't understand why nobody's lips moved while speaking, except for one character. Thought that was rather odd! There were fun collectibles (I liked the witch), along with the usual fare.
For me this was a fun Halloween game, not very difficult really, with a mystery attached and just enough scary moments. I did buy the CE because I was in that Holiday frame of mind and I do like the bonus chapter that is included. But surely the SE is just as enjoyable, unless you just can't resist the CE after-game extras. And holiday games are fun any time of the year, in my opinion. Yikes! Christmas games are right around the corner, too. Big Fish always keeps us happy.
I am off to pick up some long awaited games in today's sale with a good, fresh cup of coffee.
Lady Codington vanished from her family's estate during its renovation. She is a famous author and friend of the Queen, so this is a top-priority case. Don't stop to admire yourself in the big, mysterious mirror and beware of the Lady in Black.
The demo was very entertaining. It was full of very creative puzzles, the HOPs were great. I enjoyed them all and found them delightfully challenging. The graphics were stellar and sported rich, natural colors. None of the purple, blue or pink palette that irritates me to pieces. The characters were done very well and the voices were excellent.
Getting into the house was a bit tricky, I had trouble getting out of the entry hall. Right away there was someone in need of rescue, who had been in hiding. But alas! I was of no help at all. The evil force of the house just swooped in and began its dirty work! The storyline interests me a great deal because it is a supernatural mystery. And I am counting on MCF to provide us with a quality game.
I had lots of fun in the demo. By the way, the game ran so smoothly. No black screen between scenes, there was instant response to everything, and no stalling or freezing. I didn't check the extras beforehand, but I did find morphs, lots of pieces of broken mirror, earned a few achievements. And the pop-outs were so quick I hardly had time to read them. The game had all the usual MCF helpful amenities as well.
I think this game will be very satisfying and I feel confident in giving it a five-star rating. I am a big fan of MCF, own them all. Give it a try, even if you may not share my enthusiastic opinion, I hope you have at least a little fun,
