An intensive psychological narrative but, better yet, a game for adventure lovers. Gamers who enjoy the dark and foreboding journey, great artwork and overall excellent quality from one of our top Developers--Mad Head Games are in for a treat. Not going into the storyline and spoil the fun. Gamers can try for themselves obviously. Please HOP lovers don't leave negative reviews and spoil ratings for we adventure game lovers who would like to get more adventure style type games. I've played HOG's for years and years so play an Adventure game once in a while and discover what's been missing. Happy and safe holidays to all. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Very pleased with Elephant Games over the years and this newest release is a total, pleasant and welcome surprise! My reviews don't cover the story as gamers can find out on their own--which is part of the fun--without me being a spoiler.
I like the entire sophisticated layout as it's very well organized and user friendly. Is straight forward and not too complicated, yet unique with it's own challenges.
Gamers asked for something creative and different. Well, here it is served up Elephant Games style! You guys are awesome! Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Inadvertently missed playing this game I purchased last year. Lucky for me! EIPIX did outstanding work holding up the MCF tradition in Ravenhearst Unlocked. This year's Broken Hour starkly pales in comparison. Although Dalimar has been the focal point of several MCF episodes, he's a truer representative of MCF and EIPIX superior craftsmanship.
Ah, we're going back to the MCF beginning and Madam Fate's crystal ball. It's looking good. Not understanding the lighthouse collectibles, however, haven't played through to completion so maybe therein will be the reasoning.
Happy me, I do have an awesome game to play in time for the 2016 holiday season! Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
The Wanderer is another Lost Lands sequel which has never lost it's quality and creativity. Gamers can play each game without missing out on story as they're individually tailored. At first, I thought HO-HUM on their 1st--Dark Overlord and was I wrong. Went crying boo-hoo to have purchased only the SE. Have never made that mistake again! Now on the search for any and all 5-BN Games.
Characters are uniquely special without going so crazy as to lessen their value or credibility. We all understand fantasy and Lost Lands finely blends the two parallel dimensions to weave the thread of possibility. Game runs smoothly with no hitches and characters are compelling for gamers to take notice. It's just a great place to be in the 5-BN Gaming world. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
As good games get scarcer, I'm playing and replaying. The Lost Tides somehow got skipped over and am happy to have enjoyed finishing game plus bonus content, collectibles, puzzles, treasure hunt. One really good aspect is if collectibles are missed, can go back after main game and bonus game are completed to find those missed. Also gives gamers another chance to review all of the scenes played throughout to appreciate them more.
Started out well and then the story line went into the twilight zone with as far fetched a story as one could concoct about three quarters of the way through. Thankfully, the amulet is only utilized a handful of times. Puzzles were easy to mediocre and hidden objects had some challenge to them when items are hidden and no hint as to where. Puzzles could be replayed for the three stars each and better times--very good for those of us who are obsessive compulsive. Also, a cute arcade game after all others completed. Only played up to about 50 tokens so I don't know if the speed increased at all to give some added challenge.
A year ago, my review would have been less stars, however, as the better game offerings get progressively fewer, I find myself turning back the hands of time and appreciating the older games more. Thank you Mad Head Games for a job well done--as usual! The artwork is breath taking!
Although I prefer pure adventure, these are rare as hen's teeth on BFG. Once in a while one squeaks through but not many that's for sure! Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Yikes! Santa left me an undeserved lump of coal in my stocking. Call Broken Hour what you want. Great, magnificent or MYSTERY CASE FILES--IT IS NOT! Of course, this is my SECOND review as the 1st written early morning of game release never made print. Oh, and it was kinder with more stars--however, an overall thumbs down NO recommendation.
MCF was a great series and Broken Hour isn't terribly awful--it's just certainly NOWHERE CLOSE to what I look forward all year. Alas, I won't be sneaking away from the dinner table as in previous years.
More a blend of EIPIX recent BORING cookie cutter games, Broken Hour lacks any intrigue or that once special magic to draw gamers. This isn't MCF by any stretch of the imagination. As EIPIX presents Mystery Case Files, Phantasmat and/or Dark Parables trademarks as their own, the quality, imagination and WOW factors should be a given especially due to their huge respective followings.
Aside from those greats, EIPIX had already reached stardom with their own numerous outstanding releases--all of which rest in my BFG game library. Yet, their fiery reputation of greatness seems to have waxed cold of late and I find myself steering clear after too many disappointments.
A SAFE, HAPPY AND HEALTHY HOLIDAY TO ALL! Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Mad Head is onto a unique gaming style that their BEYOND: LIGHT ADVENT shares breaking routinely dark and foreboding gaming parameters. Still, other developers, especially the big bucks programmers may develop exciting changes as well depending on sales--or am I still in outer space? Reviews can be misleading and many gamers purchase based on reviews which is why I repeatedly complain that BFG gamers are dished out the same boring and predictable themes. And which is why many of my reviews simply are never printed and are usually disliked. Wasn't always this way as I go back years and have hung in there while many older and better reviewers have gone such as top reviewer Nilosh.
This is clearly a 3-4 star game, however, we gamers seriously need a change in games offered up so I smacked that 5th star in there gladly especially since we're flying through the galaxies! Some aspects, such as reading the discussions in a bolder font and more challenging puzzles could improve, the game is rather good. Familiar theme of child abducted and protective Mom to the rescue, Star Descendant places itself in a category all it's own with a creative twist on this older theme especially far from the gloomy, dark atmospheres and into the glorious and mysterious outer worlds.
Thoroughly enjoyed the simulated roller coaster ride and travelling to another planet outside the Milky Way. Did you feel those G-forces? Gender and younger age appropriate. I like going after the bad guy and I like winning, however, I PREFER challenges rather than eye candy, morphing objects and the like that only waste my compulsive disorder time. With more work and, hopefully, more developers accepting that change is overdue, we gamers will get our fair share of challenge versus bells and whistles. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Elephant Games did awesome work on this 2010 challenging piece of art. Live actors were used for the cut scenes with all types of birds as collectibles for the hint system. However, if you're so accustomed to an interactive map, you're going to have to use your brain. There's much back and forth and many challenging hidden objects that utilize items from inventory list as well. Nothing easy here but rewarding for those gamers who enjoy older, more difficult gameplay. Only pulled my hair out a few times trying to locate items that were not yet in my inventory and had to go back in order for hidden object scene completion. Today, I rarely purchase the SE version so as not to miss the additional story and this is one good reason why. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Here I am crying over here on the CE section because I've replayed this outstanding Lost Lands and other 5BN Games again and again. Do you think Customer Service would allow me to, say, do a trade? All the kidding aside, 5BN pays so much attention to detail that it's exhilarating. They are such the best kept secret on BFG. Move over other top developers and meet one of the best! No skimping or jerky movements. Colors are bold and spectacular without looking ostentatious or out-of-place.
The meeting of worlds--humans, dwarves, wizards, you name it BN5 has blended these worlds so intricately and so creatively that gamers who've played the "save somebody you love" theme is completely reinvented and exciting.
5BN Games has presented more Lost Lands games and they've not only maintained their highest quality and excellence, they have actually honed and surpassed themselves! There's a little bit of all of their games in each one without having to play each in succession. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Another in the series with Bloody Rose as the more typical of older PuppetShow versions. I'm sure the first and second in the initial series wowed most gamers. The intolerable factor is that there's a bleeding and dying soldier yet we're searching for other non-essential intolerable clues. Ah, yes, my deceased wife is hanging in her hat shop and this poor guy needs immediate, urgent care, but run and find a match, take a photo, etc. Maybe, just maybe we take ERS too seriously and they've not created any game to make any sense so just go with the flow. The more ridiculous the better is the supposition here. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
