An old man dies and in his will he states that his family members have only 17 hours to find the fortune or he will leave it to his cat and dog. He has a sense of humor that way. Yeah, I could see doing that - LOL. So, in you come as the world famous P.I. to save the day, or fortune, as the case may be. HAH! I said "case", get it? I slay me.
First off, this game is strictly HOGs (hidden object games). They are everywhere you turn. So, you've been forewarned. I don't want to come back and read reviews complaining about the number of HOGs in this game - IT'S AN HOG GAME! Ok. Now that that's out of the way.
In each level, you are given several locations to investigate. In each location, there are 10 items you must find. In addition to those 10 items, you need to (well, I guess it could be a matter of personal choice) find a key and an apple (the Big Apple - get it?). In this case, if you find all of them (25 in total) you will unlock and "unlimited play". A little curious about what that is exactly because I already set my "options" for unlimited hints. Hmmmm. Definitely a "hmmmm" moment. There is also a magnifying glass in each location. Find all of them and you get a 1 million point bonus. Oh, joy, yay.
Oh, yeah, when you finish the LEVEL, not a location, but all the locations in that level, you get to play a mini game which could be a puzzle, match 3 game, any number of cool and fun mini games. LOVE the mini games.
The graphics are not too bad, but some of the HOGs were pretty dark and dreary. I do like that, as much as possible, they were reminiscent of the New York scene (street vendors, horse and buggy, central park, etc.). The mini games were tons of fun and not hard at all. Didn't pay too much attention to the background or sound effect as I have a splitting headache and tuned it way down.
The one thing I did notice different in this version of the game (I've been doing a marathon of them all) is that you CAN go back into a location, as long as you haven't left the LEVEL, and look for a key, apple or magnifying glass you may have missed.
What I dislike about this game (and all of them in this series) is that while there is a "meter" showing how many keys/apples you've found, there is nothing to denote how many of the magnifying glasses you've found. There's even a little gold key and apple icon that turns off when you've found either of them but NOTHING for the poor little magnifying glass. Another "hmmm" moment for me.
I truly enjoyed this game, especially the part about being about to go back and find the missing key/apple/magnifying glass in a location. But, there were a few little tidbits that has me on the fence about whether this will be a purchase. I own one and already have 2 on my "buy" list. So, while I'm thinking about this one for myself, I encourage anyone who LOVES HOGs, mini games or enjoys a bit of sleuthing to give this game a try.
Happy Gaming! Oh, yeah, I LOVE NEW YORK! Just had to go there. LOL.
I recommend this game!

Mystery P.I.: Lost in Los Angeles
The only copy of this year's biggest blockbuster movie has gone missing the day before the VIP Hollywood premiere! Find the film!
The only copy of this years' blockbuster movie hit is missing. Has it been stolen? Lost? Borrowed? Ok, borrowed may seem farfetched but this IS LA! LOL. As the world famous P.I. it's up to you to use your sleuthing skills and find that movie.
I absolutely adored playing this game - the 2nd time around (the demo). Apparently, I had played it before and not been impressed because I still had 31 minutes left to play, so play I did. Must have been having a bad day before because I LOVED playing it this time around.
The premise of the game is that you are given "x" number of locations in a level to investigate. Each level has 10 items which you must locate in a plethora of other items. This is called an HOG (hidden object game) and that is basically ALL this game is about. One HOG after another. After you complete "x" number of locations in the level and found all the items you need, you get to play a mini game - LOVE the mini games. They are fun and not too hard on the old brain cells.
In every location within the level (NOT the level but EVERY location) you need to find 3 things: a sheriff/police badge, a film reel and a key. If you find all the film reels and keys you unlock 2 bonus games. If you find all the badges, you are awarded an additional 1 million bonus points. Not really into the points myself but collecting the badges is fun.
So, why did I NOT give this game a 5 star rating. One, it's rare that I do and if I do it's a definite that game is a purchase for me. Well, yeah, this game is a definite purchase for me. BUT, here's why I took away 1 star. What happens if you don't find a key or a film reel in a location but you've found everything else? You can't go back to that location because now you're locked out. Is there a way to replay something or do something at the end of the game to make up for those places you couldn't find one or the other? My bright idea was NEVER completely find everything in a location. ALWAYS leave at least 1 item unfound, thereby leaving the location OPEN and available for you to return to WHILE IN THAT LEVEL. Brilliant, huh? Yeah, I thought so too. LOL.
I encourage everyone who LOVES HOGs, mini games or just sleuthing around to try this free demo. If you've lived in LA like I did for some years, some of these locations might even be familiar.
We've all played them before. Toss a colored ball/egg/orb/whatever into a stream of various colored balls/eggs/orbs/whatever. Well, now you have met your match.
In THIS game, there is a unique twist. So beware! Yes, there is a stream (a very fast one depending on the level you play) of various colored orbs/balls/whatever - maybe rocks since it's the Jurassic Age. Yeah, for the sake of keeping it short (hah!) they are rocks. So, you have a stream of various colored colored moving along the road. This is what you have to do .... GRAB a rock of whatever color you choose (but choose fast and wisely) and toss it BACK into the stream to make a group of 3 or more to destroy them. Get it? GRAB a rock FROM the stream and toss it BACK into the stream.
It will probably take a few levels to wrap your head around this very different way to play this game but it does have it advantages. For instance, there is a group of 3 green rocks. Grab one of those rocks and toss it back where you got it from - BOOM - group of 3 original rocks gone. That will come in handy as you level up because things do get progressively harder, much harder.
There are bonuses you get when blowing up these rocks but I couldn't even begin to tell you how they're earned. There are bonus levels. Again, streaming row of various colored rocks. But, you have to grab the color of the obelisk (totem) that rises up from the ground and shoot it. Get 3 of the same colors in a row for a bonus. So, green obelisk, grab a green rock and toss it into the green obelisk.
You apparently also have a tree house of sorts. Not very pretty and, although after every "x" number of levels, you earn an upgrade. Most of these upgrades are difficult to see because they are the same color as the hut (brown) but some are quite obvious.
So, that's how you play this unique twist on our favorite game. Not a purchase for me because even on "easy" it was too fast for me but I do recommend everyone try it. If only for the uniqueness of the game.
Happy Gaming!

Zuma Deluxe
Play the best-selling action puzzler that is simple to learn, but deceptively difficult to master. Are you up to the challenge?
As in other ball shooting games, the premise of this game is to shoot your colored ball into the stream of various colored balls to make a match of 3 or more to destroy them. Bonuses come in various forms and are acquired by popping the right balls to do the right thing at the right time. Whew! LOL!
It's definitely not as fast-paced as some of the games of this type I've played recently but that doesn't take away from the game play.
While this isn't a purchase for me (some "spark" was just missing for me) I do highly recommend it for everyone - if you like ball shooting games or for any other reason, maybe just to try a new genre of game out. Whatever reason you have, give this little gem of a game your pops! LOL
I played and played and played, over and over and over again and could never get past Level 11, or at least that's what the level meter said. I would check it and then after a l-o-n-h time playing would peek at it again and it would STILL be on Level 11. After 33 minutes or so, I just gave up.
There was no choice but to be on Endless mode because the other mode was locked. And the constant stream of tumblebugz without a break was just too much for my hand.
The graphics and sound effects were fine. I tuned out the background music. Game play is the usual. Toss a colored "bug" into the stream of "bugz:" to make a match of 3 or more and destroy them.
I didn't particularly care for this game and I'm probably going to be in the minority but I will recommend it for anyone who wants to give it a try.

Mystery P.I.: The Curious Case of Counterfeit Cove
Travel to New England to investigate a counterfeiting ring in Mystery P.I.: The Curious Case of Counterfeit Cove!
This game isn't as much fun as a previous Mystery P.I. I've played. I gave it a good 30 minutes but no fun spark. Didn't want to waste my time anymore.
Graphics are good so is background music and sound fx - no complaints.
Again, the game is all HOGs (hidden object games). Go to a location - and you have to visit each one in the section (there may be from 2 - 7 in any one section). Find the items listed. Every so often, you'll play a mini game, but even in this game that wasn't it's saving grace and I LOVE mini games.
In each location, there is a lobster and a key hidden among the items you have listed to find. Make sure to find both the key and lobster in each location because if you find them all, it will open 2 bonus chapters. I always tried to find them first before the other items but in this particular game, they were not so easy to find.
Maybe that's when I lost interest. When I started finding all the items on the list using the hunt and peck method and still couldn't find either a key or a lobster. At that point...well .... what IS the point of continuing?
This isn't a purchase for me but I recommend anyone who loves HOGs, mini games or a good mystery (the story line was weak as well) to give this a go.
If you like Crop Busters or are familiar with that game, this game is just like it.
By playing a match 3 game, you earn money to be able to build all sorts of buildings for this new land that the King (coward) and his people have all run off to when his kingdom was overthrown.
In any case, there are a ton of bonuses you earn while playing for getting 4 or more in a row. Plus, you have "events", like getting rid of a whale whose eating all the fish (poor whale) or getting rid of the pirates who have found you in your new land and want it and everything you've built for themselves.
Palaces, casinos, airports - quite a bit of modern technology for an old island tribe. Oh, and when you level up some, you have to get planes, trains and various other things to the bottom of the game board. Then, make matches to fill up the plane/train's quota so it can go off. There are also men in parachutes and rockets. Just tons of fun.
I loved it when I demoed it and I am giving it a 5 star rating after playing it for a while so, yes, own it. If I give out a rare (for me) 5 star rating, I am going to purchase that game. I'm not all talk like some reviewers are - who just want to see their names in lights. Anyway, please try this amazing match 3 game. I think you'll enjoy it.

Mystery P.I.: The London Caper
Use your Hidden Object skills to search London for clues and recover the stolen Crown Jewels in Mystery P.I. – The London Caper!
You are playing as a Private Investigator in London to find the Crown Jewels. Right, you say to yourself, how do I go about doing that. Self says right back to you....well...it's like this ...
You are given "x" number of areas to go to and locate items. This generally runs from 2 to start up to 7 as you level up (that's as many as I had seen in one area). In each location, you play an HOG (hidden object game) where you find everything on a list of items given to you. Once you find everything on that list, you move on to another location and another HOG.
ALSO, in each location you search in, you need to (well, I guess you don't really NEED to) find a key, a crown and a pair of handcuffs. Finding these in all the locations will allow you to play a mini game when all the items in all the locations are found.
What I liked most about this game: You could play on a "relaxed" untimed mode. You could set the options to have "unlimited" hints. I despise games where you have to earn hints and won't purchase them on general principle (mine). The mini games. Unique, innovative and always fun.
At the start of each location, I would look for the handcuffs, crown and key first before anything else because I wanted to be assured of playing all the mini games. That's what I really LOVED about this game the most - the mini games.
I'm really not all that into sooooo many HOGs and this game is nothing BUT HOGs, so I'm a little on the fence about purchasing it. I have never played a Mystery P.I. game before so maybe I should try another 1 or 2 before I make up my mind.
In the meantime, I encourage everyone who loves a good mystery (although I really didn't see where this story was going), loves HOGs and/or mini games to give this game a try. It's a very fast free hour demo. Go on, find the hidden sleuth inside you.
And how do we keep our precious farm away from the dastardly evil man who wants to throw his waste products on it? We fight back! LOL
The first 6 levels are tutorials. Yes, it might seem excessive but it's totally worth it because in the next level up you are going to need to draw on everything you've learned, and then some.
You will learn to harvest wheat, send it to the mill (which you have to build), feed wheat to the hens to get the eggs (from the henhouse you have to build), and then sell pies using the flour (from the wheat and the mill you have to build) and eggs. PLUS, when your storage gets full you have to sell, sell, sell so you can UPGRADE everything and do it more and faster and more and faster so you don't run out of time - WHEW!
Oh, and while you're running rampant doing all this yoiu have to punch out the evil man's lackeys who are going to keep trying to throw waste onto your farm using ... wait for it ... a giant .... nah, not gonna spoil THAT for you - it's just too funny.
So, I guess you will just have to try the free demo for a very quick hour and find out all the dirty details for yourself. Just prepare yourself for some great farming fun.
Unfortunately, this won't be a purchase for me (sad smile) as I don't do well with time management games. But, please have a blast!
Happy Gaming!

Nightfall: An Edgar Allan Poe Mystery
Travel to Paris and work with Monsieur Dupin! Investigate lots of cases and meet unforgettable personalities!
If perhaps my character wasn't stuck in her bloomers. Yeah, no kidding. At least give me SOMETHING to wear until I can earn 50 million, gazillion diamonds to buy, what, a jacket?
The graphics are fine. You get a magnifying glass to use at the locations where you are playing the HOGs (hidden object games) but, so far, I haven't needed it. Haven't come across any mini games so far, so that's kind of a downer for me.
The atmosphere is quite dark and dreary. Never been to London, have heard about the rain and fog, but, seriously, is it night time forever? Can't we have an "end of day" and start a new DAY, with sun? Even detectives investigating murders or looking for handcuffs and a baton or rushing to get baking soda (yeah, a rush job) do it during the day.
Background music was fine, no sound fx that I could tell. No lip syncing, no voice overs.
This game is strictly HOGs so if you are madly in love with HOGs you will be madly in love with this game. You have inventory items that you earn (or can buy for an exorbitant amount of your very REAL cold, hard cash) to help with your energy levels, etc.
On general principle (mine), I do not play games that have in-game purchases. I feel that they are a scam from the developers to earn more money from us, the hard-working individuals who play these games. But, I was curious about this game so I gave it a try. Not disappointed at all. Work the same HOGs over and over until you want to scream from the redundancy (and then they actually move some of the items around the scene - oh joy!). And, show me, a woman, a complete collection of a wardrobe (or 2 or 3, I can't remember) and let me "try on" most of the items and then - ARGH! - 30,000 diamonds for a jacket? I'm lucky if I can earn 1 doing an HOG. My character will be in bloomers forever.
I refuse to spend my money on this drivel. I may go back and play a few HOGs if nothing good is being offered for me to demo or beta test or play myself (I have 30 million trillion games waiting to be played), but, otherwise, not really interested in becoming, being or going up in the ranks of an old London detective agency.
But, for you guys, gals, and in-betweens (whatever that means, just felt like SOMETHING had to be there like "friends, foes and countrymen?") have a blast.
