This series from Elephant Games is one of the absolute best and this game just proves the point! It's fabulous.
You return to Raincliff in a snowstorm to save a young reporter and discover Phantoms are haunting the town. You and Elf, your trusty best friend puppy, are up to the task and tackle the baddies head on. The fun begins!
This is a true CE with tons of achievements, but Elephant has added some nice touches to the CE extras you are really going to like. For instance, there are morphing objects to find, but they are integral to the game. You need them to keep your temperature up so you don't freeze to death in the storm. And there are videos to find and play that help tell the story, a la Dire Grove, but the videos lead you to secret hiding places where the young reporter has hidden helpful clues and objects. The integration of these elements really elevates this game to a new level. Way to go devs!
Needless to say the graphics are the best. Absolutely terrific. Great cut scenes, nice audio, interactive HOSs, sartorial Mr. Toads to find, hints with directions, and a whole lot more. I just can't say how much I like this game. What a treat---I know what I'll be playing this weekend.
Buy it, play it, and have an amazing time! You'll love it!
You receive a message from your brother-in-law asking you to return to your home town. The same home town that you feel is responsible for your sister's death! Despite the sad memories, your help is needed and you go back home. But the town is different...and not in a good way! What is going on here?
General Info: This is a true CE. There are achievements to earn and some of them are quite challenging! I like it when I have to earn my kudos. There is also a zoo to populate. You find animal statues throughout the game and magical crystals. When you have enough crystals you get to bring the statues back to life! This is a great, new idea. The graphics are quite good. The style is pleasant to look at and clear. The HOSs are list type with some interaction, but you can switch to a puzzle instead if you want. The VOs are just okay. The characters mouths do not move and the dialogue is choppy. There is a journal and map to help you solve the game.
Positives: The zoo! Love this feature. Challenging achievements.
Negatives: The fractured English and disjointed, choppy story. No mouth movement in the VOs.
Pretty good game that is appropriate for the whole family. I recommend it.
You agree to help a friend at a Native American Cultural Center and when you arrive your amulet begins to glow. How mysterious! Then spirits arrive, including an elusive wolf spirit, and the game begins.
This is the third game in the Myths of the World series. I like this series. I feel as though I'm an anthropologist with a new field of study each game. First it was China, then Scandinavia, and now North America and Native American culture. Each game feels authentic to me and I enjoy the immersion in another culture.
This is a true CE. There are lots of achievements to earn and sun symbols to collect. The graphics are very good and make me feel as though I really am at an Native American Cultural Center. The VOs are terrific. The characters mouths move when they speak and the dialogue moves the story along. HOSs are silhouette and list type. I did find some of the objects difficult to locate due to the style of the graphics, but it's not overly distracting. You can opt to play a shooting marble game instead of playing the HOS if you want. The puzzles are of easy to medium difficulty.
I think you will enjoy this game. It is fun and appropriate for the whole family.
To help an old man find his son, you travel to a fantastic kingdom. Your arrival fulfills a prophecy and you discover you are to marry the not-so-nice king! Not exactly the perfect marriage.
This is the second game in this series from Eipix developers. I didn't play the first game, but from the demo it appears you don't need to---this game can stand alone. The devs did a top quality job. The kingdom is beautiful and enchanting. And the VOs are great! The characters mouths move when they speak and that adds a lot to the game in my opinion. Static characters are such a distraction.
The graphics are great. Nicely imagined and well executed. This is a true CE with achievements to earn, dog biscuits to find, and fairies to collect. These extras make a CE worth the money. An interactive map and journal help guide you. The HOSs are silhouette and the standard list type. The puzzles are easy to medium difficulty. The cut scenes are well done and add to the story. And best of all, you have a puppy friend named Bonnie who is always there to be your best friend. I love animal helpers!
This game is not fast paced. There is a leisurely quality to it that makes it perfect for all family members. Nothing too scary or difficult. I enjoyed the demo and will buy the CE.
Your bride is killed on your wedding day and you must save her soul from an eternity on a death train. Charon has traded up from his ferry to a train and many souls are trapped on his train until their murderers are caught. You must help other souls find peace to save your bride.
Okay BFG and Developers everywhere---when are you going to learn you cannot label games as CEs unless they actually provide tangible extras!! There are no achievements, no collectibles, and no morphing objects. Nothing! This attempt to pass off SE games as CEs is a very irritating trend. Stop it! This would have been fine as an SE game and should have been billed as such.
The graphics are fine, music okay, VOs well acted and the story is fairly original. HOSs and puzzles are of medium difficulty.
I'm sorry I can't recommend the game as it is billed because it is not a CE. Use a coupon when it arrives as an SE since there are no extras it will essentially be the same game.
This is the third game in the Witches' Legacy series. The characters are older and allegiances have changed, but your daughter Lynn is still in danger and it is up to you to save the day. Lynn, a good witch, has been duped by her boyfriend Edward! He has led her into a trap and she has been taken away by witch hunters. Your old enemy Elizabeth, a bad witch, is the only one who can help you rescue Lynn. What a strange turn of events!
This is a true CE game. There are achievements to earn, puzzles game pieces to find and morphing objects to espy. The graphics are good and continue in the Witches' Legacy style. HOSs are standard and you can switch out to Match 3's if you like. Puzzles are of medium difficulty. There is a journal and interactive map and integrated Strategy Guide. VOs and cut scenes are well done and the music fits. And of course, Lynn's friend and helper the Imp is back as well.
I like this series. It is well executed and nice to look at, but it just doesn't grab me the way some game series do. It just isn't terribly exciting or mysterious. However, I will buy it and I do recommend it.
You came to the town of Brownville, Louisiana hoping to find a new job. But you weren't expecting to stumble upon a strange adventure in a world filled with beauty and danger!
You travel to a new town for a job, but when you arrive you find your new employer is not what he seems. He traps you in a fantastical game world and you have to play and win to save yourself and others from death.
This game is not scary despite the plot. The graphics are bright and the creatures you meet are whimsical and cute. You even have a furry, purple friend who helps you out during the game. Any age can play.
This is a CE so there are achievements to earn and puzzle pieces to collect. The graphics are pretty good and so are the VOs. Cut scenes are nice and you can replay them in the journal. HOSs are clear and puzzles are of medium difficulty. There is a journal and an interactive map to help you play.
This is a nice game, not exceptional, but good. It didn't grab me even though I enjoyed the plot line: trapped in a game and playing for your life isn't a plot that's been done over and over. I probably won't buy the CE, but will wait for the SE.
Your beloved Charles leaves you alone in his castle while he is away on a mysterious errand. As you explore the castle you find locked portraits of women that are actually portals to other worlds. Has your beloved trapped these women through false love? Or is he blameless?
This is an SE game, so no bells and whistles. There is a journal and interactive map to help. No wide screen or VOs. However, the cut scenes are quite good and so is the music. The graphics are good and the different worlds are well imagined. HOSs are standard type and puzzles are of medium difficulty.
This is an enjoyable, easy to play game that is fine for all ages. I think it is easily as good as some recent games that are masquerading as CEs, but really aren't. Recommended!
Left on an orphanage's doorstep as a baby, you've always wondered about your mother. Now you receive an invitation to an elite Dream Vacation where you may find some answers to your most burning questions.
First, let's go over the negatives. This is billed as a CE, but there are no achievements to earn. There are 16 roses to collect throughout the game, but they are so obvious to see they are no challenge at all. And this game is not a true wide screen. Big black bars on the left and right of the game which is very annoying. Also the pace of the game is slow—not something I complain about very often.
Now let's talk about the positives. The Art Deco graphics are really nice. Very evocative of the Roaring 20's. The VOs are well done and the dialogue is good. I really like how the story unfolds: you find films throughout the game and learn more each time you play one. You can also replay the films at any time. The HOSs are standard list type and find and return to proper place type. Interactive map and strategy guide are available.
This game had a lot of potential. I'm just sorry the devs did not take it to true CE level. I would like to rate it a 3.5, but half stars aren't an option so I'll give it 3 stars, mostly due to the lack of CE extras. If I buy this game, it will be the Standard Edition with a free coupon. Try it and see what you think.
This is the fifth game in the Redemption Cemetery series from ERS. Again, you have to travel back in time to set wrongs right, but this time you have to save your own family's history from the evil spirit Wenonah! Makes things a little more personal and urgent!
Sorry to say, but to start I have a complaint. ERS is now following in Elephant Games' footsteps: the characters in the game no longer move their lips when they speak. C'mon ERS, you always did this feature so well and I can't help but feel this is just plain laziness. This has always been an issue for me with Elephant and now it appears it will be an issue with you. It is a major step backwards in your games. How sad.
Now to the positive features. Gorgeous graphics and artwork. ERS hasn't slipped up there. Each scene is really fun to look at and explore. The VOs are well acted, even if the character's mouths are static. There is a notebook to record your progress and an interactive map to help you along. This CE has achievements to earn and snowflakes to collect. Even if the achievements aren't challenging and the snowflakes impossible to overlook, they're still nice to have. Puzzles are of medium difficulty. HOSs are nice and well laid out. Usual bonus features are included.
Game is well done and continues in the RC tradition. Fairly easy level of challenge makes it a game for all ages. You and your family will enjoy it. Buy it.
